The Best Food at New Orleans’s Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo | Eater New Orleans

"At Bub's Burgers I had the choice between a double or single beef patty and an Impossible burger, offering straightforward grill options for meat eaters and vegetarians alike." - Clair Lorell

Google
Obviously it's overpriced because it's in the airport. I was actually surprised how good the burger was. Definitely one of the best fast food burgers I've had. The fries were good and very fresh There was a wait for the elk burger, but the cashier specified that before I finalized the order, and we had plenty of time. My daughter loved it. I also tried some of her ice cream, and it was very good quality.

Google
I ordered a bub dog with chili and cheese, a strawberry malt which comes with whip cream and a cherry, fries, and a large (32oz) drink. I got a hot dog with a smashed bun and no toppings, a strawberry malt that I had to ask for the whip cream and cherry for, and fries. I asked about my drink, they asked what size, I told them a 32 oz., I got a 20 oz. The food taste itself was ok but good luck getting it the way you want it.

Google
The portabello mushroom sandwich is gold but stingy on the vegetables. It could definitely use more, given there isn't much in it. The crinky fries are good but too few. Service is good.

Wed 6:46pm: i have more than 40 countries and I dont know how many airports under my belt, but this Bub’s will take the crown for worst service and worst burger! No easy feat in the land of burgers. Well done. Burned burger and bun, no flavor on the patty, fries didn’t deliver anything. 1 star for at least getting the order right.. the ones ordering close to me didnt have the same luck. And this is NOT FAST food - so keep that in mind

Google
Service was good, but out of beef and ice cream when I went (and out of elk and chicken shortly after, so only hot dogs). Ok, I guess we'll take two double elk. Well, they only had three patties of elk. Fine, a double and a single. The absolute dryest burger I've ever had, and not a great flavor. All the flavor of the sandwich came from the bun and condiments. The other locations have good burgers, so wondering what the difference is here. Again, service was good, but the quality of food and quantity of food they stock leaves a lot to be desired.

Google
Food is fine but service is awful. Take out airport food needs to be quick. Waited over 20 minutes for 2 breakfast sandwiches and several people in front of me had wrong orders. Very disorganized. Also for a 8am flight and serving breakfast and they have a coffee machine but don't serve coffee. Makes no sense.

Google
Stopped before flight 6/12/25 No bacon No ketchup No mayo No Diet Coke No mustard No melted cheese on your burger Fries not cooked through 30 minute wait & no one cares & cost us $35 Save your money!!!

Google
We decided to try this place, being familiar with the Zionsville location; we had some expectations. They were absolutely short and no comparison can be made among both locations. The burger was very dry, cheese was not melted at all. The fries were loaded with salt almost which made it impossible to eat. The person that brought the food was somewhat engaging while the person at the cashier made no attempt to engage at all. Came to this place to see for reviews, I can see why they get the rating they get. Overpriced (yes I know it is airport food) overly cooked and dry burger. Never again!

Yelp
You know what? For a fast food spot in an airport, I was very impressed with Bub's! After a day of annoying airport drama, I needed to eat while I waited for my next flight and Bub's appeared to try to save my day. Now don't get me wrong. There were other options in the airport for me to go sit down and eat at. But at that point, I just wanted a good burger and fries to soothe my airport woes. They had a digital order kiosk which was nice to use and easy to figure out. I put in my order and waited. Only a couple hiccups, they didn't have any milkshakes and then they were out of lemonade too. Both of my first options were out so I ended up with Sprite. Not a big deal. But you wanna know what was a big deal? My burger. IT WAS HUGE. I definitely did not expect a burger like this from an airport spot but I was more than happy to see it. And it was delicious. Top quality burger with fresh toppings and a soft bun? HECK YEAH! Add in the crinkle cut fries and I was already feeling better about being stuck in the airport. I get that it's fast food in an airport but the staff was nice and the food was great. I'd definitely get this burger again.

Yelp
Legit might be the absolute worst burger I've ever had. I would put zero stars if I could. So salty... terrible. Burnt, dry, service wasn't overly friendly.

Lisa N.

Yelp
Worst burger and fries. Worse than McDonald. The bun was cold and soggy the patty was also cold. Lettuce was limo fries were limp and cold.

Kara D.

Yelp
Fries were delicious and perfectly cooked. Burger was a disappointment because it was burnt and dry. Workers weren't rude but certainly not super friendly either.
google avatar

Chris W.

Yelp
If I could give zero stars, I would 1) they gave our food to someone else 2) they returned it and gave it to us 3) it took 15 min to make a kids mini burger 4) it was made wrong. We asked for zero toppings and no cheese. 5) no refund 6) boarding my flight now with a 9 year old who is upset and hungry I've never been to the bubs in Carmel. Now I never will because they condone this level of service and quality. Get your act together. Train your people and focus on customer satisfaction. This is bad even for an airport.

Yelp
TLDR: Surprisingly great food with questionable service. I'm already a fan of Bub's, as it's a true staple in downtown Carmel and was one of the only restaurants there for years. My friends have all attempted the Big Ugly challenge and I'm cheering this restaurant on forever. I was so excited to see them in the airport and when our plane was delayed due to storms, we immediately headed over there for dinner. We got two burgers and a side of crinkle fries. The fries were amazing - hot, salty, and crispy, served in a cup. The burger was delicious too - huge and with a really soft, delicious bun, fresh toppings, and hearty patty. I know Bub's is good but I can only imagine that it's hard to keep quality top notch when operating out of an airport, so I was thoroughly impressed as to how much we loved our food. Great job y'all! Only thing to work on would be the staff. Whoever was taking orders hadn't written anyone's names down, so the woman at the counter was yelling out to a large group of people waiting for their food things like "who ordered the burger without cheese? anyone? anyone?!" over and over. It didn't seem like they knew who any of the orders were for and made me start to distrust this team handling food too. Maybe that's why I was so surprised at how tasty it was. The people waiting with us for their food were all looking at each other with surprised eyes at how disorganized it was. A few people left the line too. If they tweak this, it'll be a top operation! PS: They also offer GF buns!

Yelp
I would improve everything. For almost $20 a deluxe burger, you get meat don't get me wrong, but it tastes like a frozen burger that is so unbelievably dry. The fries are the only good thing about this place. Service? Awful. The workers act like they hate their life. Ambiance? Just like the service. The Indianapolis International Airport needs to replace this absolutely awful place with something good, like I don't know, maybe a Chick-fil-a on the INSIDE of the concourses? Disappointed. Rating: 3.5/10

Yelp
This meal has quite literally scarred me for life. I go in to the experience with a delayed flight and ordered the grilled cheese which was advertised as something along the lines of "Two sliders made with toasted buns, and a melted cheese center" It is not an understatement when I tell you that after a good 15 minutes of waiting I received a slider that consisted of 2 buns, that were cold and stale, and a single piece of American cheese that at the very least was cooked with a blow drier on the lowest heat setting. I continued to choke down this abhorent meal like Joey Chesnut, taking big bites and washing them down with water. The tables outside the storefront were dirty and the service was all but above par. This grilled cheese sandwich sent from Satan has ruined grilled cheeses for me, I can't see myself eating another grilled cheese sandwich for the rest of my life.

Sigrid W.

Yelp
Worst service and sandwich ever. Ordered the egg bacon cheese sandwich. Got to pay $13.07 for this inedible creation. The bun was huge, charred and had the consistency of rubber. Had to discard that, which left me with an overcooked egg which was also quite rubbery, a half a slice of bacon and about a quarter slice of cheese. The sliver of bacon and the cheese were delicious but not very filling at all. Also the price still irks me

Yelp
Breakfast Sandwich: $13. Burnt English muffin, tiniest slice of ham and almost NO cheese.

Jordyn S.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch. They were out of GF buns but Tiara checked me out and she was so kind & polite. She had my burger lettuce wrapped instead. She also doubled checked a lot of the orders as I was waiting to make sure they were correct. Overall a very pleasant experience & tasty food.

Yelp
I was waiting for my flight to Atlanta for New Year's Eve and wanted to grab some lunch, so I decided to go to Bub's Burgers for a sandwich. The line was not long, so it took me just a few minutes to wait to get to the counter. The young gentleman at the cashier took my order and he was very professional and courteous towards me. I wanted the Bub's Portobello sandwich but they were out of it, so I settled for the Bub's Chicken Sandwich and a side of crinkle cut fries. The order took a few minutes and I picked it up from the young gentleman. The Bub's Chicken Sandwich looked good and it did taste wonderful with decent flavors. The texture of the bun was just right. The crinkle cut fries were nice and hot and tasted delicious. They were a little too salty for my taste, but they were still very good. The ambiance is not much to be said since it's located in an airport and it is basically a vendor. The vendor did look nice and had other options for purchase such as cookies, beverages, etc. Bub's is definitely a great burger place and a sandwich place to grab a quick bite to eat while waiting for your flight. I have not been to the restaurant in Carmel, but I do hope to go there for lunch or dinner with friends in the near future. It was a nice lunch and I'm glad I stopped by.

Yelp
Worst burger I've ever had. Dry cold and cheese wasn't melted at all. I could not believe that it's only food past security other then sit down dining.

Yelp
I had high expectations for Bub's having been to the Zionsville location several times. I ordered the burger and a drink. I wanted the elk burger but they didnt have it that day so I got the regular burger. While it was still quite good and tasty particularly the bun, the patty was quite well done and not very juicy. Again it wasn't bad but not quite as good as the main one. Also I honestly didn't realize the fries don't come with the burger so I sadly looked in my bag and didn't have them until I realized they are separate.

Yelp
Bub's Burgers On a recent trip through Indianapolis airport, I had a bit of extra time before my flight. I opted to grab a bite to eat at Bub's Burgers. I chose the single Elk Burger, which was quite good, along with a decent helping of hot and fresh fries. While the food was of good quality and hit the spot, the price for a burger, drink, and fries came to about $22, a bit pricey for a hamburger!
google avatar

Andrew G.

Yelp
This is the best place to get a burger in the Indianapolis Airport. They cook-to-order and will let you know that it will be 10 minutes. You'll note that the bun is toasted, and the lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles are very fresh. They don't use cheaper iceberg lettuce either. The ground chuck had a nice flavor and paired well with the other ingredients. The fries were not hot or fresh, and tasted as if they've been sitting around for a while. Final note, the burger and fries were $16.33, about 30% more than I paid yesterday at Shake Shack. I rate Bub's Burgers at least 50% better than Shake Shack.

Yelp
Nice to have a Bub's at the airport as a good option. I had about 20 minutes before my flight boarded. I wanted in line but there was a large group of customers waiting for their food so by the time I got to the front of the line I decided that I didn't have enough enough time to wait for food so I just ordered a fountain drink. There is a kiosk where you can order which has a separate line. It was a little confusing as both lines kind of merged together and some customers were trying to get to figure out which line they were in. The server wasn't friendly or helpful, but rather abrupt. I'd like to get food here when I have more time available. It looks like it takes awhile to get your food after placing your order.

Yelp
I recently visited Indiana for the first time due to my job assignment, and I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed it. On the day of my departure, I had some time to spare at the airport (you can do that at this location because it wasn't busy). I don't take smaller airports for granted. Living in a city with an extremely busy airport makes you appreciate a more relaxed environment. Anyway, I knew I wanted to grab a bite to eat and was in the mood for a really good burger, so I decided to try Bub's Burgers. There was a line, so in my mind, I was thinking, "This must be good...lol." My sister was traveling with me, and she ordered a chicken sandwich, while I opted for the single patty burger. We also shared some fries. They prepare your food fresh to order, so there was a short wait. I think we waited for about 15 minutes before they had our order ready. Okay, so let me tell you, this burger was amazing! The bread was buttery and toasted to perfection. The burger was a 100% meat patty, not the fake stuff. I only wanted cheese, mayo, and ketchup (I mean, really, that's all you need on a burger), and the cheese was melted to perfection. The burger wasn't sloppy; it was well put together. I asked my sister how she liked her grilled chicken sandwich, and she loved it. The chicken was juicy and not dry like some grilled sandwiches. The lettuce was crisp, and the sandwich was delicious. As for the fries, those were excellent too! Well-seasoned but not too salty (some places don't know how to do this). I am looking forward to going back to Indiana and visiting Bub's again. If you find yourself at the Indianapolis airport and don't know what to eat, Bub's Burgers is the place to go.

Yelp
If you love Bubs Burgers in Carmel, do yourself a favor and pass this place by. I feel bad for the owners who probably don't realize the damage this is doing to their brand. The service was terrible. They were out of Breakfast, they were out of Elk, they ran out of of Burgers, they ran out of Chicken, the food took over 20 minutes and was cold when it came out. I love Bubs Bugers, and this place made me so sad. I was in town for a short trip and when I saw they had a Bubs Burgers in the airport I decided to not try and squeeze in Carmel into my trip. HUGE mistake on my end. Do yourself a favor and skip this place.

kenneth s.

Yelp
$13.50 for a breakfast sandwich and it comes with less than half a slice of bacon. The young lady at the counter was friendly but that's about the only positive.
google avatar

Sarah C.

Yelp
These are probably the worst fries I have ever had. I fly into Indianapolis monthly and decided to try a different burger place, this time I only got fries. Wow was that a mistake. They are so burnt that it's kind of hard to bite into it. The picture makes them look better than they actually are. I would have gone back and had them remake them but I did not have enough time before I needed to board my flight. I will be calling when I land and demanding a refund. Needless to say I will be sticking with Shake shack from now on.
google avatar

Alexander B.

Yelp
Gave this place a shot while at the airport - the quality of food and the price were ok by airport standards. The part that was not ok was the 20-min wait for a basic burger with just a few people in the line.

Angel H.

Yelp
Bub's is one of our favorite burgers but NOT at the airport. First, service was TERRIBLE. There was a sign of "Cash only", which was fine but the cashier was unkind, impatient, and super rude with her body language (eye roll, :sighing) as she took our order. She explained that she had to write down the order and then enter the info into the system. We waited patiently for her to do this while there was head shaking and more sighing. After paying and tipping, we waited for our food. After getting our order, we realized she didn't give us our drinks so my kids went to wait in line. They were met again with rudeness and my kid said "wow, she was mean". The food was mediocre, at best. Overly salty and dry burgers. Fries were subpar. (They did not have chicken, chili, or ice cream available). I'm sad that this Bub experience was subpar and will definitely not be dining at the airport location.

Kinley T.

Yelp
Server was not friendly & Cook was sloveny. They were turning away business at 6pm on Thanksgiving Wed claiming "30" wait", or "running out of food." My burger was passable and fries warm. I never complain, but this seemed to warrent it.
google avatar

Christopher G.

Yelp
Absolutely HORRIBLE service and very SOIW. I ordered a chicken sandwich and waited 10 minutes. When I inquired about my order I was told 15 to 20 more minutes....and told that VERY RUDELY. I politely requested a refund or if there was something else (another food item) that could be irritated more quickly as my flight was leaving. The cashiers literally GRUNTED, said there is no manager there, and she had no way to do anything. She then turned and walked away, shouting, "Get outta my face"! I left without my food and boarded my flight. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST‼
google avatar

Madeline E.

Yelp
Pretty okay for airport food! Burger and fries cost about $16. Service was wonderful.

Chris P.

Yelp
Very slow service. Waited 15 over minutes to get 3 single burgers and fries. I thought they were back there slaughtering cows.

K A.

Yelp
Although the malts are great (given the two star rating), worst burger ever. Nothing remotely like the pictures at the counter. Not juicy at all, very dry with a dried out bun,... little to no red onion, and do it yourself condiments had no relish choice. The CHEESE wasn't even melted. It looked like it had been put on as an after thought. Whoever "Steve" was in the back, was MIA and a Chris at the counter was more interested in talking to someone in his earbuds that was more important than providing swift and good customer service. Definitely stop in for the malteds, they are the bomb, but the burgers are a hard pass.
google avatar

Andria O.

Yelp
I didn't even take a picture because I was just grabbing a burger really quickly before my flight and didn't expect anything much. However, this was honestly one of the best burgers I've ever had, so I had to leave a review. The burger was great, a little salty, which I love. The fries were fantastic and hot. All-around really good and a great surprise in the airport.
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
Terrible experience at Indy Airport location. Waited 20 mins for an Elk burger because they were out of beef. Cashier was coughing the entire time, did not excuse herself or wash hands. Manager and staff clearly did not care about customer service or have any pride in their job. Won't be back.
google avatar

Cameron B.

Yelp
The burger was totally average. I don't particularly like raw onions on my burger. The chocolate shake was pretty fire though. The cashier was unenthusiastic but seemed to do a good job. It's just a stall at the airport with so,e public seating nearby.
google avatar

L M.

Yelp
food and service is pretty good. They don't serve their, breakfast foods all day, which, as limited as their menu is kind of stupid, considering people are coming from all different time zones

Martie C.

Yelp
Waited an hour for a burger that wasn't properly cooked. They forgot the condiments and fries I ordered.

Brandon L.

Yelp
This burger place is located inside Concourse A at IND airport. You wouldn't know that though with their complete lack of urgency. I arrived at my gate 50 minutes early and still almost missed boarding after ordering a single cheeseburger from this place. Unacceptable.

Bailey E.

Yelp
I did not like the people working there. They were very rude and had bad customer service skills. The food was alright, definitely used too much seasoning and were out of the big ugly burger. If you really want buns I would wait and go to the Carmel location because this was disgraceful.

Scott M.

Yelp
Good food and service. Chili is especially good. Fun for family or out of town guest for casual dining

Jennifer H.

Yelp
This location is at the Indy airport. The burger was amazing, fries were incredible, and service was friendly and helpful. You won't go wrong by grabbing a bite here while passing through the airport.

Brittney M.

Yelp
Found a hair in my food and when I looked up I saw the line cook with no hair net. But they are some what quick if it's not busy

Jim F.

Yelp
I was passing through Indiana with my family on June 25th at 5 pm for a flight to Minneapolis. My flight was delayed and my children were hungry. I placed an order on your very confusing kiosk at 544 pm (order id 1681). I patiently waited. My plane began to board at about 5 after 6. I inquired about my food and was told it was coming. My wife text me and said all the passengers were boarded except us at 624. I asked for a refund and was told since I did it on the kiosk I had to go online. I had no time get information, I had to sprint to my gate to my waiting wife and 2 hungry children (9 and 12). I had no food and was out 53$. I called your listed number on July 5th and left a message and got no return call, I called again today and the mailbox was full and was unablele to leave a message. I am very disappointed in this whole experience, and upset my boys had to go on a 2 hour flight hungry because of poor planning on the part of your establishment. I dont believe 30 minutes is acceptable wait time for 4 plain cheeseburgers. I would like to know how to obtain a full refund asap.
