Buca Review - Fashion District - Toronto - The Infatuation

"If you have a special occasion, and you either got a bonus or someone just bought your embroidered shower cap business, go to Buca. It’s not going to be cheap - there’s a pizza on the menu for $55 - but despite the high cost and location in the Four Seasons, it’s both comfortable and inviting with dark wood and an open kitchen. Get the branzino sashimi, which is sliced tableside, and a few pastas, then fill out your table with a bunch of the vegetable dishes and small bites. Just make sure you get the nodini, which are really just fancy garlic knots." - Katie Diamond

A friend once told me the food there was bad, but I didn't expect it to be this awful. I was going to have the sashimi branzino that day, but a huge snowstorm came, and the delivery didn't show up. The grilled branzino looked a bit fishy and pale. You could tell just by looking at it. The seasoning was basically nonexistent. Ugh! The nodini bread knots were somewhat dense with a hint of garlic and rosemary. They were just okay—slightly oily, and the coarse salt was quite salty. The maccheroncini di Campofilone lobster pasta was so-so. There was less lobster than in the Google pictures. The pasta was cooked alright, though. The soppressata was the best. The pizza crust was thin and crispy, but the edges were a bit overdone. The tomato sauce was tangy and refreshing, and it was very juicy when you bit into it. Yum! The polpo e vongole didn't taste fresh at all. There were large pieces of octopus and clams, but the octopus tasted like the ones from Costco's freezer. The bistecca di manzo was the worst steak ever. I ordered it medium-rare, but it arrived nearly well-done. The meat was dry, and they totally messed up the cooking. There was hardly any seasoning except a bit of salt, and blood was oozing out. It looked unappetizing. Big no-no! The tiramisù di Buca was pretty good. The mascarpone cream was creamy and smooth to swallow, not too rich. All the ingredients blended well. The pizzelle was also tasty. It was a white chocolate dessert with waffle layers. Overall, it's okay to have drinks and some desserts here. But the main courses were just average or even bad. The service was alright, and the environment was fine too.

We had a great experience at Buca Vaughan! First, they offer complimentary valet parking, which was super helpful as we visited during a minor snowstorm. Second, the restaurant is located below a new condo building- the space is very elegent and inviting. The food was really good too- we had the burrata pizza, garlic knots, gnocci, and lamb bolognese. Everything tasted fresh and was quite delicious- we definitely left quite stuffed! Thanks to Candice for a great dining experience, we’ll visit again for sure!

We went to the restaurant to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. Buca is an impressive place to appreciate the good food (traditional and also creative). All the dishes were well prepared and served. Service was excellent. We will definitely come back and try their new menu in the future!

Google
Buca Vaughan absolutely impressed. The ambience here is beautiful and the wait staff are very friendly and attentive. The broiled octopus is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten, the color, texture, plating and flavour was phenomenal. The pasta and steak were great but the Octopus was the true star of the night. The desert was beautifully presented as well and tasted phenomenal. It was quite a generous portion for desert which was a pleasant surprise. Highly recommend Buca Vaughan!

First time visiting Buca and we will definitely be back! Food, service and atmosphere were great. My only was that its a little bit hard to find when following google maps. We drove past the complimentary valet entrance twice.

Yelp
One of Toronto's finest is now in Vaughan. Have been coming here now for about a year since it opened. The food here is always really good. Between presentation and taste is one of the best Italian restaurants you'll find. Though you are paying the price as an average cost per head is well over $100 for a three-course meal and drinks. Service tends to be very good. Unfortunately at times when it's over busy it can be a little slow as this time my steak came out pretty cold. Overall, I still recommend this place for special occasions and finer experience. Will be looking forward to my next visit.

Yelp
3.5 stars. Equally delicious food could be found for a lesser price point. Service was great aside from a minor issue with the bill. We went out for Mothers Day dinner on the Saturday night to avoid crowds. This newer addition to the Buca chain was not full. Online menu is not updated. We had: Nodini - so simple, so good Kale and Cara Cara orange salad Burrata pizza Salumi pizza Angel hair pasta with lobster Hazelnut gelato - had a little croquant mmm Another flavour of Gelato American with cute little biscotti (Complimentary amaretti biscuits with the bill were a nice touch) We could not figure out how to not pay for parking in a city where you don't usually have to pay for parking. We passed on the valet but it likely would have been better than the parking garage next door that didn't like the parking card that it gave us and so charged us $32!

Yelp
I had great experiences at Buca Yorkville. I have high expectation at Buca Vaughan. I booked it for our anniversary. My overall experience is just okay though it's near to my home compared with Buca Yorkville. Here's why... Complimentary parking - we stopped the car at valet but the person in charge is too concentrate on his phone, so we decided to park on the street instead. Less than $7 for 1.5 hours, not bad. Food - we ordered Branzino (Italian sashimi ) and Nodini as appetizer. The fish is fresh and delicious. We love it. And we can see the showmanship of how to use knife and forks to cut the fillet piece by piece. For Nodini, it's kind of chewy. Octopus and lobster angel hair are good. Pistachio gelato is very smooth. The crispy top of tiramisu is very interesting. The restaurant is quite big and kind of divided into 2 sections. However spaces among tables are not enough. We are seated in front of a big party table with a wall partition. Staff is using the table do their prep and count money. I'd prefer there's a curtain so that customers are not able to see through. Service - attentive service from the servers. We booked for our anniversary but no one mentioned about this. The manager is too busy. When we passed by, he's too tense I really expect a good bye smile.

Yelp
Delicious food and amazing atmosphere. Very authentic feel and welcoming wait staff. They took care of our group of 15 with elegance and grace and provided a tasting menu that was amazing.
