All the Best Places to Eat Cheese in London, from Raclette to Fondue | Eater London

"Rhuaridh Buchanan once faced a difficult choice — work with US superstar Thomas Keller at thrice Michelin-starred Per Se, or master the art of affinage at iconic British cheesemonger Paxton and Whitfield. He chose the latter, eventually rising to the post of general manager, then started a wholesale cheese business that now supplies the likes of Ledbury, The Square and The Ritz, and opened a retail shop. Buchanan’s — winner of Cheese Counter of the Year at the World Cheese Awards— stocks around 150 artisanal cheeses from the UK and Europe. The counter selection changes daily based on what’s ripe and ready in the on-site maturing rooms. The goods can be sampled at the quaint tasting room, together with small plates, charcuterie, and wine. Cheese boards are customised to patrons’ personal preferences, wine pairing recommendations are made — even the walls, decked with blue cheese patterned wallpaper, make for a memorably cheesy (in the good way) experience." - Daria Kyrilova

While exploring Connaught Village for my blog, I popped into Buchanans Cheesemonger and was warmly welcomed by the friendly team. The selection of cheeses is excellent, and the staff are clearly knowledgeable and happy to help. There’s also an adjacent wine shop, making it easy to pair your cheese with a good bottle. You’ll find crackers, chutneys, and some beautifully curated tableware on offer too — perfect if you’re putting together a gift or planning a dinner.

Great find, worth a walk. Happily munching on my cheeses. Knowledgeable owner selected a perfectly ripe Yarlington upon being asked for a recommendation. Cheeses displayed were all in amazing condition. Big ups

We bought a cheese named etoile du vercors and it was one of the finest and good and delicious we ever had. And we are from Italy so we are used to good cheese….gooooood! And the girls were very nice and friendly!

Lovely shop. Excellent cheese in perfect condition, all carefully chosen by the owner and much of it matured on site. Great selection of wine and cider too!

The shop is quaint! The team are incredibly knowledgeable about cheeses and wines AND so pleasant. The cheeses are delicious and can be matched to your mood or your wine or your event. They don’t have hundreds of choices for wine, but what they have is heavily curated. I trust all their recommendations. I’m thrilled they are in my village!

Love this little cheese shop - my go to place after a walk in Hyde Park. Great selection of cheeses . They stock some less common ones too which are a great addition to any cheese board . The staff are friendly, helpful & knowledgeable. Well worth a visit !

Yelp
I had been eye-ing this place and wanting to come in for some cheese. We were full after lunch, but somehow, a cheese plate didn't seem to be too much. The person working there was very knowledgable about his cheese and was patient in helping us with trying different cheese. Based on what we liked, he ended up putting together a cheese plate for us. The cheese plate came with some crackers from Bath. The cheese portions were generous. - 42 month Gouda: a bit creamy but wonderful flavor - A French Alpine cheese - probably my favorite - Montgomery British cheddar - British Suffolk Brie: definitely worth trying - it can stand up to any French brie They had a pretty good wine selection for such a small place. We did a Nebbiolo for £8 and a Verdicchio for £6. In the end, with the cheese, it was £24 total, which is ridiculously reasonable. I wish we could take stuff to go, but I didn't have a fridge. Bonuses: - clean bathrooms - very friendly service - super cute shop with a neighborhood feel Note: closed Sunday and Monday at this location.
