On the Grid : Book Exchange

"Just outside popular cafe Anna Blume, you’ll stumble across a bizarre looking tree trunk. With a little inspection you will see it is a book exchange, filled with novels, picture books and pages that appear they have been read a hundred times. Grab a book during you’re travels but remember it’s an exchange! The idea is you leave one behind in place of another." - Gabby Lord

There were books and a few CDs. Someone came and added a few books while I was there. Bring books because many shelves were empty.

It was created with a good idea but isnt enough. In order to contribute to the development of the idea, you can leave the books that you have read and that you no longer need at home. So there will be more book circulation.

It is what the users make it. I had some books sitting at home I didn't need anymore so I was happy to find a place to donate them instead of throwing them out. When I arrived at the spot there were quite a few fat old law books (probably the only ones you can throw out as they likely are outdated) sitting in the shelf and not much else... I hope this will change in future and people will bring more other stuff as well. You can find books in German, English, Polish...

Simple, beautiful, minimal but magical.

Nice idea and a very nice decoration of the area.

Thumbs up for the idea, however there were hardly any books there when I found the tree, so the book shelves looked rather like scary hollows.

A Prenzlauer Berg classic. Leave books you don't want to keep in one of the tree trunks or pick up books you like for free.

Good idea but cafe best
