Buckley Vineyards is a must visit if you are in the Georgia Mountains. It is a vineyard that can not be missed. It is tied as my top two vineyards on this visit in the mountains.
Ok, you are in the mountains the possibility of any road in the mountains is it can be a bit bumpy. If your vehicle is low to the ground you will be ok. But just a little heads up!
Buckley is open seven days a week. They open at twelve o'clock. The closing time varies, see their website for details. They also have live music on some days too.
I love the truck parked right outside. It is beautiful. Yes, a wine is named after it! The outdoor seating area is covered. It is large, with plenty of tables and chairs. And it has a lovely view.
The tasting room inside is beautiful. It has exposed ceilings, lovely light fixtures, leather chairs, and exposed brick. This tasting room felt nuanced and inviting. So many tasting rooms put a bar and a lot of tables and chairs in with out giving any thought to the feel of the room. It was clear to me that someone was thoughtful about this room.
Let's talk wine. The service was fantastic. This was the only vineyard we went to that still does a traditional tasting. And by that I mean pouring your glass one at a time, not you choosing everything at once. I love a traditional tasting. One where I can talk to the person behind the bar. We can ask about the wine. So I can figure out what I would like and also learn more about the vineyard itself too.
I decided on the premium tasting. This is five of their wines and one reserve wine for sixteen dollars. The pours were good, better than at other vineyards yet again. And the the bartender made sure to check on us, ask my thoughts, likes, etc. We also were given some crackers to help cleanse our palette in between if we would like.
I bought a bottle of the Amber wine to take home with me. I loved the taste and the color!
