Buckley Vineyards - Review - Ellijay - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"With plenty of indoor and outdoor seating (both covered and open), Buckley should be a required stop if you’re winery hopping with a large group. As you approach from the road, you can see their terrace dotted with bright yellow umbrellas . And that's where you want to be. Come on weekends, and it'll transform into a mini-concert arena with a live band playing to the wine-sipping crowd. Most of their wines aren’t made with grapes grown on the property, but their offerings have fun spins, like the Corinne made entirely from Ellijay apples or the Amber (a more muted white wine) that’s aged in whiskey barrels. Plus, there’s a big selection of dangerously good wine slushies for the days that reach triple digits." - Juli Horsford

Google
Great wine and amazing atmosphere. Beautifully designed. My only suggestion would be to serve all tastings at once instead of tokens. 2 oz pours requires you to go back to the bar too often and if it’s busy it takes awhile. Lovely place and I highly recommend if visiting wineries in GA.

We’ve visited Buckley several times - in various seasons - and always enjoyed the wine, the grounds and the service. My daughter and I went in the winter and sat by the hearth of the gorgeous fireplace inside. This week we took some friends and sat outside, enjoying a cooler summer day. The flowers were beautiful, we enjoyed tasting a variety of new wines and chatting with the super helpful gal at the counter.

Google
Spacious but cozy, rustic, and beautiful. This vineyard is one not to miss, it's architecture, design, and view of the farm fields are stunning. I tried and liked the Amber wine, which is aged in whiskey barrels and has a unique taste.

Google
Easily one of the best vineyard tasting experiences I've had. This place has a great atmosphere, amazing wines, reasonable prices and friendly people. Love to visit here with my wife.

Google
We had a great time at the Buckley Vineyards. We loved it so much that we stopped in at the tasting room in downtown Ellijay the following day. We had a great sampling of their wines. My favorite was the Chenin Blanc. It actually rivaled some of the better Chenin Blancs I had in South Africa. The winery had a really good live music act playing. We also enjoyed the food truck. I highly recommend Buckley Vineyards.

Google
Wonderful winery and vineyard. Of all the ones we tried today this one topped the list for best tasting and I liked the tasting options with the coins. The bartenders were friendly and helped in selecting the best wines for my palette. The music was great and the food truck (Brazilian skewers) were absolutely phenomenal. Definitely recommend to end the evening here and save at least an hour and a half before closing time to spend just enjoying the venue and wines.

Google
Queenie was the best! The selection of wine is so refreshing and enjoyable. I enjoyed singing along with the fabulous live musicians. A laid back environment that is so welcoming by all the staff

Had a great time and a good glass of red wine out of their Preserve selection. Live music and big tables. Will definitely return. Friendly staff, clean restrooms.

Yelp
MJ was amazing! She knows her craft, so sweet and has fabulous hair! Highly recommended the Amber wine and Christmas wine!

Yelp
The back porch and outdoor area in general are incredible! They had a turf area for our kids to run around and play. The peach wine slushy was delicious along with their Chardonnay. We spent several hours here with our large group and everyone left tired and happy. The live music was a great as well. They offer an alcohol free slushy, which all of the kids enjoyed. Highly recommend checking out this vineyard, with or without your family!

Yelp
We've been here multiple times over the years and always enjoyed it. The wines are awesome. I try bottles of them as I visit. All are great. The folks are wonderful and friendly. The place is super with different areas to sit and enjoy company and great wine.

Yelp
Best wine in the Ellijay Region. Kaycee was amazing and took great care of us during our wine tasting. Vineyard is beautiful and they have live music on Saturday! They have several different types of wine and they were all delicious. Excellent date idea.

Yelp
Service was outstanding! Supper friendly and really interested in making sure guests have a good time. Wines were pretty good and very reasonably priced. Bathrooms immacutely clean and food truck on site for food options. Seating both in the sun (with umbrellas) or covered patio.

Yelp
Buckley Vineyards is a must visit if you are in the Georgia Mountains. It is a vineyard that can not be missed. It is tied as my top two vineyards on this visit in the mountains. Ok, you are in the mountains the possibility of any road in the mountains is it can be a bit bumpy. If your vehicle is low to the ground you will be ok. But just a little heads up! Buckley is open seven days a week. They open at twelve o'clock. The closing time varies, see their website for details. They also have live music on some days too. I love the truck parked right outside. It is beautiful. Yes, a wine is named after it! The outdoor seating area is covered. It is large, with plenty of tables and chairs. And it has a lovely view. The tasting room inside is beautiful. It has exposed ceilings, lovely light fixtures, leather chairs, and exposed brick. This tasting room felt nuanced and inviting. So many tasting rooms put a bar and a lot of tables and chairs in with out giving any thought to the feel of the room. It was clear to me that someone was thoughtful about this room. Let's talk wine. The service was fantastic. This was the only vineyard we went to that still does a traditional tasting. And by that I mean pouring your glass one at a time, not you choosing everything at once. I love a traditional tasting. One where I can talk to the person behind the bar. We can ask about the wine. So I can figure out what I would like and also learn more about the vineyard itself too. I decided on the premium tasting. This is five of their wines and one reserve wine for sixteen dollars. The pours were good, better than at other vineyards yet again. And the the bartender made sure to check on us, ask my thoughts, likes, etc. We also were given some crackers to help cleanse our palette in between if we would like. I bought a bottle of the Amber wine to take home with me. I loved the taste and the color!

Yelp
First time visiting Buckley Vineyards and i absolutely loved it. Rick at the wine bar was such a pleasure and very helpful. There was live music and a food truck outside with good choices to pair your wine.

Yelp
A pleasant wine find in N Georgia. Ample seating both inside and outside. Great area for a wedding reception. Great variety of wines to try. Live music. "Frank" and "Fireside" red top Zinfandel were our favorites. Friendly service. Definitely recommend and might even stop back by before we leave!

Yelp
My friend and I popped into Buckley for a tasting on Wednesday and enjoyed sampling their wines and slushies as we soaked up the sun and conversation on the adarandak chairs. The grounds are incredibly well maintained and the location is new and beautiful. Bathrooms are located inside as well as outside near an even larger seating area which made them very assessable. The wines were yummy, and had so much character being labeled and named after family, loved ones, and pets. They do their tastings based on a chip system which I really loved. My friend and I did a regular tasting and then a premium tasting and were able to taste everything we wanted to. We will definitely be back again to enjoy their wine!!

Yelp
Every wine was exceptional. Best winery we visited. Definitely worth the trip. Service was great

Yelp
First visit on a weekend. They had some live music which complement at the ambience. The place itself is comfortable and laid-back. However, the wine was definitely lacking in all areas and the samples we had tried were just not good IMO.

Yelp
Loved this place Everything about it Just go Perfect day date.... Loved the wine flight

Yelp
Today was first visit to a Buckley and thoroughly enjoyed it. The ambience, the staff and wine made for a great rainy day. They had live music today and a food truck. For sure one of my favorite wineries.

Yelp
My first review of 2022 goes to Buckley Vineyards! Tucked away down a dirt road it over looks the Blue Ridge mountains. What a delightful way to spend a Wednesday afternoon. A cool but sunny North Georgia day.The staff was amazing. They told us about the wines they make, how they make them and all about their family history as it relates to the winery. Choosing 6 wines for your flight gives you a good range of what they have to offer and they were all delightful. After working my way through the flight, I settled on a nice red. Robust and so much flavor. Watching the gorgeous stone fireplace burning on one side and the BlueRidge Mountains on the other side made for a wonderful afternoon to unwind after the hustle and bustle of the holidays. I'll definitely be back in the spring and summer to check out the live music and food trucks.

Yelp
Excellent wine, terrific staff and live music too! What a great find. There are some items to nosh on, but they don't seem to mind if you bring your own snacks.

Yelp
My fiancé and I had an amazing time at Buckley Vineyards this weekend! Not only was the wine delicious, but the company and entertainment was on point. We met Lloyd who is one of the owners and he was also singing and playing guitar. He was so nice and we had a great chat with him. He genuinely walked around and chatted with everyone there and made everyone feel welcome. We got some food from the food truck that was there, but in a pinch they also have food available to buy inside including little meat and cheese snacks and non alcoholic beverages. They have a good selection of wine plus they have several craft beer options! The wine slushies were amazing! I highly suggest getting it with a wine floater. I mixed the two flavors and it was delicious.

Yelp
I have been to a lot of wineries throughout Northern Georgia and this one just made it to one of my top 3 list. We went on a Wednesday around 4pm and really enjoyed our time and the wines. The place opened up just over a year ago and they really made the place to have a great atmosphere. We were told they have live music and food trucks Fri-Sun, so we will definitely be back to experience that. While we were there we got 2 flights, a regular and a premium, which is a few bucks more and includes their more expensive wines. After trying all the wines I was truly impressed. I don't think I have liked so many wines at one place. We ended up getting 2 bottles to go, the Sassy Georgia (white wine Chadonnay) and the Turkey Creek (red wine mix blend). We also tried their wine slushy... you have to try the wine slushy! They are so good and are great on a hot summers day. All in all we loved this place and will be coming back soon!

Yelp
Date of visit: 3.19.22 Date of review: 3.25.22 We did an Ellijay wine tour last weekend, and this was the liveliest vineyard by far. It was beautiful with numerous sitting areas and a very young and fun feel to it. I'm not a huge fan of local wine, but it's wet and it's fun activity to do with friends. This place was the busiest for a reason, and it has a very fun menu. Here's the hubs with our favorite - a dry apple wine inspired by the owner's grandma (at least that's the story I heard during a flurry of wine consumption). This place is very hip and vibrant, and it's worth the trip.

Yelp
So this wine flight aka 6 wine tastings is DEVINE!! They have been here a total of 8 months and this gold mine is a true treasure! The views are amazing! The service is exceptional and oh the wine!!! Don't miss out guys stop on in you will not be disappointed!!

Susan G.

Yelp
Wines are ok. Nothing to write home about. Server is very friendly. No view to speak of. Good music.

Yelp
This is a beautiful family vineyard with excellent ambience and service by MJ. They have only been around for 2 years but have developed a loyal customer base. They have a working dog on site, an Australian Shepherd Dog named Coco, so no dogs allowed except service dogs. The wines are fabulous!

Support R.

Yelp
great place, great wines, especially the reserve reds. stop by by and see MJ for a tasting!

Mandy T.

Yelp
My friends and I ventured out to Buckley and absolutely loved it!! We visited a few different wineries around the area and we all agreed it was our favorite spot! MJ was excellent and really made us feel welcomed. We will be back!

Lauren S.

Yelp
We came for the Zinfandel but there is so much more. When we pulled up, we noticed the food truck was German food. Off to an interesting/good start. We loved the Hungarian oak Zin but the Meritage, bourbon barrel and the apple wine were great as well. OK, I know, I know I just said apple wine was worthwhile. I can't believe I said that either but it is and its not what you expect. It is not a sugar bomb. Just try it. There wasn't any music going on while we were there but both the outdoor and indoor stages have hosted some pretty well known artists. There is also a vineyard cabin (2 br) that is available to rent. The staff are super friendly and it turns out I was sitting next to the owner at the tasting bar. What a fabulous time.

Yelp
Great atmosphere! Loved the fire pits, live music and scenery! Everyone was very personable.

Yelp
Enjoyed the wine - the reserve merlot is worth it! Great atmosphere & live music! Excited to go back again soon!

Yelp
At the end of a dirt country road is this modern winery ready to serve your their best offerings. I've visited Buckley several times over the past six months abs have watched this small tasting room grow into a hopping spot. The family owned winery has created a great tasting room with plenty of space to spread out, a bar area with plenty of seating and a gorgeous patio heated by their huge fireplace. The scenery is amazing including the cutest vintage truck that is the photo opp of the day. Live music is welcome but can be too loud at times. Best part is outside food is welcome but you *must* try the food served by the local food truck guy. He is amazing and has several food trucks around Elijay and Talking Rock.

Yelp
Great time beautiful setting liked the whites the best. Friends love the muscadine wines
google avatar

Yelp
The wine was great, with a variety of good options. Nice to pick up a good beer or two while the wife enjoyed hers. She even snagged an extra glass of the sparkling white. The area is beautiful and spacious. Really a nice spot to stop in

Yelp
The wine is delicious, the venue is beautiful. They have live music and a food truck. What more could you ask for? A perfect day at the Vineyard.

Yelp
We were staying @ the on-site cabin & had a chance to visit Sat & Sun. Great wine, great people! We've visited the majority of the vineyards in the area & Buckley is a stand out. They have sweeter & drier wines. I'm not a huge fan of sweet & their Corrine apple wine is great on on hot day. For reds we loved the Sangiovese & The Frank Cab Sauvignon. Looking forward to another visit!

Jerry C.

Yelp
Excellent wine! The facilities are very nice. Great place to go with friends and family - great wine, food, and music.

Hannah D.

Yelp
What an amazing vineyard! The wine was fantastic and I highly recommend a tasting to sample them all. There are plenty of places to sit and relax- including fireplaces. The staff was beyond friendly and knowledgeable. This was our favorite vineyard of the trip and cannot wait to go back!

Stephanie B.

Yelp
My husband and I liked this vineyard. The service was great and we each ordered a sampler of wine. It's a farmhouse type of feel. We will be back.

Patti F.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite "go-to" wineries in the area. They are always growing and adding mor amenities, and the service is always friendly!
google avatar

Dean K.

Yelp
Can't miss spot if you are ever near here. Great selection of white and red and beer also for sale. Really, really nice set up and owners/staff were as cool as they come. Amazingly fun and relaxing place. Kids were not having another winery stop until we arrived and the loved it!

Kelly J.

Yelp
Excellent red wines! Last vineyard of the day and turned out to be the best!!! Taking home multiple bottles!
google avatar

Bart H.

Yelp
Nice looking place for a startup vineyard. Wines ok. Be aware, they up charge whenever they can. Specifically asked for a single tasting to be shared with two of us. They served single tasting portion, then charged for two tastings. They offer glass pricing with or without keeping the the glass, but don't ask. They then charge for keeping the glass. Nice way to increase the tip. We tour the wineries about once a month. This one won't be on our list.

Karina S.

Yelp
Buckley Vineyard was amazing!!!! Terry was a wonderful hostess at the bar, Matt in the Sage food truck is a hospitable, kind and a knock out cook, and every single wine we tasted was superb. Highly recommend. A very comfortable atmosphere and memorable experience. We will be back! 10/10 recommend.

Steve M.

Yelp
When Buckley's opened up I was very excited. They've brought something to the beautiful Ellijay country side that was missing in all other wineries. Wait for it!!!!!!!! Wait for it!!!!!! It's Classy, Modern and has youthful exuberance. The bar and loft would have me believe I'm in a high end bar in Buckhead. Love the feel and vibe of the place. Love the cows in the pasture next door to remind you city slickers your in the country. Awesome selection of wine and beer. The apple wine is a must try. So, so tasty!!!!!'

Nancee J.

Yelp
Thankfully there's another vineyard down the road. Our group of 10 was turned away because we had a small dog with us. Apparently only service animals are allowed because "The owners have a service dog and it isn't friendly". Not sure how to gauge the logic on that one. My husband and I had visited the vineyard before, it's par average, no outside tastings/service And the only one in the area that does not allow pets.

Jackie W.

Yelp
Had a wonderful time at Buckley. There is an industrial vibe to it. Staff were very helpful and friendly. A great addition to the winery scene in Ellijay.

Michele J.

Yelp
Hands down, the best winery we have been to! The owners are incredibly nice and make you feel at home. we not only went once, but twice during our stay in Ellijay, because we loved it so much. definitely worth anyones time!

Jamie W.

Yelp
Such a nice winery with great ambiance! Upon arriving, the views and fire pits were very welcoming! The day we visited there was live music which was a nice touch! We visited the bar area and shared a tasting to sample six wines (4 white and 2 red). Then we all got a glass of our favorite and headed to the patio to enjoy the music and views. The wines were very nice! We had a glass of the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and the apple wine! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will be back when visiting the area again!
