The 38 Best Restaurants in Milwaukee, Wisconsin | Eater

"The happily disorganized menu of this long-running, family-run, neighborhood nook veers wildly between empanadas, steak tartare, lamb lollipops, house-made pastas like gricia and short rib white bolognese, a lamb shank with Yorkshire pudding, and a smash burger with hot honey dijon. The theme is kitchen sink in the best way. Whatever your order, don’t skip the fried artichokes, and don’t miss the attached cake shop on the way out. Best for: Somehow both fancy and relaxed, Buckley’s is as good for a special occasion as a last-minute late-night meal." - Todd Lazarski

We had a great experience on Saturday night 3/29 for my partner's birthday. Jess was our server, and to say she was awesome would be an understatement. Truly authentic, friendly and attentive. The food is always excellent, the desserts top notch and the experience comfortable, classy and accessible.

Beautiful restaurant and friendly staff. Everything was amazing, must try the truffled artichokes!

This place is amazing. The food is delicious. The service was phenomenal. A great cozy but elegant place. I would definitely come back if in town. Try the carrot cake it's to die for. A shout out to Sarah for taking really good care of us and recommending the specials for the night.

Our server Sophia was outstanding! The Smashburger and fries are enough for 2 to share! Outdoor seating atmosphere with flowers is so nice! Great music in the background! Food arrives fast, fresh and hot! Ask for Sophia as your server!

I went here in July to celebrate a birthday. Honestly, the experience was disappointing. The waitress couldn’t get us water right away because she said “we ran out of water glasses.” The food was overpriced for the portion and quality. I had to scream across the table for my family to hear me because it was so extremely loud inside the restaurant. Lastly, I have a walnut allergy. Every single dessert on the menu had nuts in it. They ended up putting a “Happy Birthday” sign ON MY BURNT CHICKEN because they couldn’t serve me a desert that was safe for me to eat. We spent about $200 for 3 people, and the lack of effort to cultivate a positive experience at this establishment was disappointing. Not worth $200, maybe $60 for 3 people. Don’t come eat at this establishment if you have any food allergies, they will not be able to make any accommodations.

We were seated promptly as a walk-in, and the service was fantastic. Our server, Sophie, was so attentive, knowledgeable, and enjoyable. The food was excellent, and the drinks were even better! It is hard to find good service, good food, and a good atmosphere under one roof and Buckleys offers this and more. We plan on returning again soon!

First time eating here and can't believe I've left it this long! Wonderful experience from start to finish. From the truffle fired artichokes to the scallops and their house-made pasta, everything was fresh, well presented and, most importantly, bursting with flavor. The scallops were incredible. So tasty and tender with a good degree of spice in the dish. The lobster pasta certainly didn't skimp on the lobster and was perfect. Finished up with a seasonal chocolate peanut butter cake and some Key lime pie that were also outstanding. I enjoyed the atmosphere. It was relaxed up-scale. Not stuffy at all but definitely not your local restaurant either. Staff were very good. Nora, our waitress, was attentive, fun, knowledgeable and efficient. A credit to the establishment. Had a couple of delicious cocktails for good measure. The curry gin gimlet was very good, but the house blanket was even better. So many good-sounding cocktails on the list that we will use as an excuse to come back again. Highly recommended.

Yelp
I pass my gratitude to Kayla for her readily-adaptive and affirming service with the suggestion of a delicious and nutritious ginger tea (prepared to the perfect temperature where it didn't need to cool), as well as her happiness in changing a few ingredients in the Baby Greens salads for me to enjoy. Such joyous and still relaxing energy being taken great care of as the sun set on the patio. The kitchen staff perform so efficiently too as their pacing of the meal was impressive. - Excellent work on all fronts. Looking forward to savoring the Waseda Farms burger patty next time! Elegantly crafted and collaboratively executed, Buckley's peaks my interest in a major way because of how intentional the family ownership approach, and, consistency in experiential attention to detail is in everything from front and use of color in the website, to the freshness and presentation of rainbow beat salad. Thank you so much for this. I am humbled by your dedication to accommodating the interests of guests and building a strong community in our busy city.

Yelp
My favorite thing about Buckley's is the bar and the carrot cake! I love the ambiance- very romantic. Dim lighting, candles, soft music as background noise, and modern nouveau decor. And the cocktails are always great- the bartenders are very knowledgable and know how to make a good drink. The bartenders are also friendly and listen to their customers. If there's something specific you're looking for, they'll take the time to make it! The carrot cake is AMAZING!!! I love all of their desserts but that one is my favorite. Most of the dinner entrees are also very good. I love their salad options and salmon. The carrots in maple brown butter are delicious. My only complaints are 1. The parking and 2. Sometimes the entrees can are hit or miss. I usually stick with what I know.

Yelp
Great food and fun atmosphere! I've stopped by for drinks but this was my first time getting food and it was great! Beautifully decorated interior and outside tables as well. We started with the Silky Collins and the Jupiter Jazz. Fun cocktails before splitting the empanadas. They had 2 fresh sauces that paired well together. Perfect for sharing. For entrees we get the spicy vodka sauce pasta and burger with truffle fries. Pasta was the perfect cream to tomato ratio with a good level of spice. Burger was cooked perfectly medium rare and the fries were crispy and well seasoned. We finished with salted cheesecake and carrot cake. All made in house and were my favorite part! You definitely need to leave room for dessert. The carrot cake was the best I've ever had. The cream cheese frosting was smooth and complimented the cake well. The cheesecake was also a hit. Our waitress was great and service was fast. Perfectly spaced out our courses and sold us on the espresso martini (not pictured) and desserts. Looking forward to coming again!

Yelp
Buckley's is my favorite restaurant in Milwaukee, hands down. I love the vibe of this place--very chic and welcoming, and the recent expansion makes it so easy to get a table when you stop by. Service is always spectacular. I loved my salmon entree, and we shared a piece of cheesecake after dinner that was downright heavenly. The food here is always good, no matter what you get.

Yelp
My husband and I came here on a Saturday evening recently for just a date night and to try out a new place and I'll just cut right to the chase: it was FANTASTIC. We had made reservations ahead of time and while I would still recommend that, there were a couple tables next to the us that were empty almost the whole time we were there. It overall looked like a busy place though and I can definitely see it filling up especially on the weekends! We were seated right away. The interior is very beautiful, modern, and clean. It wasn't too loud and it was easy to have a conversation without having to strain. Hunter was our waiter and he took great care of us! I started with a gin and elderflower cocktail whose name I can't remember now and my husband got the Old and In the Way - both were amazing. Mine was sweet and floral - perfect for summer and a very easy sipper! My husband's was a bit more liquor-forward, but tasty in its own right and he loved it. We started with the grilled broccoli. It was cooked to perfection and the sauce on it was everything. My only critique would be that it needed more sauce for my taste or alternatively a bit more salt. My husband then got the Buckley's Burger with fries on the side and I got the vodka pasta. We did ask if we could get a side of the Truffle cheese whiz to go with our fries, which Hunter made happen for only $1 extra to the bill! This homemade cheese whiz was EVERYTHING. It had the perfect amount of truffle and was the perfect dipping accompaniment to the fries. I would walk back for the cheese alone! My husband thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the burger, which looked very saucy! My vodka pasta, even though it didn't look like anything special, was very yummy. It wasn't spicy, but the flavor was very very good and the sauce was super creamy. We of course couldn't leave without dessert and I have to tell you... do NOT skip dessert! We got the seasonal cheese - a salted caramel Bailey's and chocolate cheesecake - to go, which we enjoyed at home with a homemade Italicus spritz and the only regrets we have about that is that we had to share it. It was absolutely sublime - sweet, creamy, salty, made to literal heavenly perfection. All other cheesecakes for me are ruined. The only snafu of the night was that we accidentally took both receipts at the end of the night, after which we got a call from the restaurant notifying us of the mistake. I called right away and they didn't even ask that we bring it back, only asking how much we had tipped - so so nice of them after we made the mistake!

Yelp
Came in at 9pm with reservations, everything was great until we wanted a refill on our drink. We haven't seen our server since we first sat down. We both wanted drinks and deserts and didn't see our server for 30 minutes. The food was delicious just I was expecting more attentive service.

Yelp
Finally made it into Buckleys for dinner. I've heard so many great things about their food, but unfortunately was disappointed. We ordered the sourdough started as recommended by our server over the focaccia. It was very meh...nothing special and definitely not worth $12. The foccacia looked much better when we saw it come out to other tables. We also ordered the spicy vodka pasta and the fried artichokes. Both were good, but nothing super special...I'd say the pasta was my favorite item, but it could've used more sauce and wasn't very spicy. Overall the service was good and the food was ok...but I'd probably go elsewhere

Yelp
This is easily my favorite restaurant in Milwaukee. I've never had a bad meal here. The homemade pastas are truly insane. The salmon dish is out of this world. The ambience is unmatched - the art in this restaurant I'd like in my own home. Tonight was especially fun, Tyler the bartender is top notch. His cocktails are innovative and delicious. Cannot recommend enough!

Yelp
Overall Pros: - ambiance: the restaurant and patio are both beautiful and cozy - service: our server was super attentive and gave us a lot of great suggestions when we were stuck - bar: great selection as well as many NA drink options - dessert: everything was house made and the perfect way to finish off the evening For starters, we tried the sourdough (not the prettiest presentation, but still solid albeit a little overpriced) , truffle fries and roasted brussels. We next had the vodka pasta & chop chicken salad. Finished the meal with the key lime pie and seasonal cheesecake offering. Overall consensus from the group - the food was good, but the dessert was definitely the show stopper. I plan to come back and try some of the other main course options in the future to see how they compare!

Yelp
I ordered the tahini broccoli which was really poorly cooked broccoli and some dry tahini at the bottom of the plate, it was pretty awful. I also ordered the pork chop with cauliflower and chimichurri, the flavors were fantastic but the pork was a little on the dry side. Nice bar, nice staff, nice space, cooking could use some improvement.

Yelp
Love the ambiance and decor-The bar area is beautiful. Lighting is warm and cozy. Homemade pastas are delicious with good texture and served al dente. Portions are not huge but def on the larger side.

Yelp
If you are in Milwaukee, I highly recommend Buckley's. The food was amazing. The mushroom ragu pasta was a huge portion and masterfully executed. I loved the Rueben kale salad. Service was great, especially by the bartender who invented the warm blanket. Order the warm blanket or you'll be sad that you missed out on one of the most amazing cocktails ever created. The restaurant is very relaxing. Overall very nice experience and I'd be there every week if I lived close by.

Yelp
Buckley's: a place for good drinks, food, people, and vibes. I've only been here twice but really enjoyed myself each time. Sitting on the sidewalk patio under the string lights while enjoying a beautifully crafted and balanced cocktail is the perfect way to enjoy a date night. The wait staff is friendly and provides exceptional service. Overall you can't go wrong at one of Milwaukee's original best restaurants.

Yelp
Buckley's is great! Food was great - service was excellent. The bartender (Tyler) makes a great cocktail. I do recommend a reservation because there is a decent amount of walk in traffic. The bar is very beautiful - class, clean, & well stocked.

Yelp
The cuisine was incredibly prepared and presented--all the way to the dessert! Beautiful place to have dinner.

Yelp
The bar area was hopping on a Thursday night, and I'm happy we reserved a high-top table for 2 in the bar. Felt like "the place to be," although the dining room area looked beautiful and cozy, too. Cocktails = Outstanding. I tried "The House Blanket" which was Reposado tequila with chai-infused vermouth and other complimentary vanilla & spice flavors. Wife went with red sangria. Truffle Fries were a nice starter as we perused the menu and savored our cocktails. For entrees, we shared the Faroe Island Salmon and Seafood Risotto. The Thai coconut sauce on the salmon & vegetable rice pilaf was incredible. Enjoyed sauvignon blanc with dinner. There are so many more starters and mains that we want to try! Dessert is a must at Buckley's. We finished our meal with Carrot Cake and Seasonal Cheesecake to-go. Exceptional restaurant in a charming & not too congested location within Downtown Milwaukee. In other words, plenty of parking options nearby and tucked away from the ultra-busy streets of Downtown. We'll be back soon!

Yelp
We found the food very tasty and the portions were quite fair. The menu has quite a few dishes you won't find elsewhere. They also had some very tasty house drinks , I would return just to go to their bar. We found the interior decorating to be spot on, everything was paired so nicely from the paint to the matching curtains and decor. The service was exceptional, we were there on a very busy night and the wait staff kept up amazingly well

Yelp
Enjoyed a very romantic valentines dinner here with my boyfriend. Our waitress was very energetic and seemed to know the menu very well. We started off with the focaccia and a French onion soup which was one of the best parts of dinner. The drinks were very good as well, but on the pricy side. I had the salmon with the coconut sauce and it was very good! I don't usually like coconut but this cause was really delicious. My boyfriend had a steak dish that was phenomenal. The food was a 10/10 for sure. It seemed like everyone else in the restaurant was having just as good of a time as us. Very good restaurant and a great time!

Yelp
6 or 7 stars out of 5 if I could! This is is an absolute gem in Milwaukee's vast food scene. Every time I make a trip up to this city, a visit to Buckleys is MUST. I originally found this spot when searching for an anniversary dinner and now visit a couple times a year. Buckleys exudes a classic, homey, and simply stunning ambiance. Set inside a residence converted restaurant, the attention to detail is clear to see, even down to the welcoming hosts at the door. Make sure to have a reservation, although I have been able to get in a few times without one, it does seem proffered. Staff is knowledgeable, kind, and attentive. Last comment on the space: perfect place to come on a cold night, perfectly warm in temperature and tone here. Eating at Buckleys is an upscale experience. On to the food: a glass of Chardonnay always accompanied my meals here. The menu is not pages long, which is a good sign that a restaurant does a select few things really well, and that's what you will find here. The menu does seem to change though. The first visit did not have this wonderful schnitzel and I was delighted to find it there yesterday. It was genuinely better than the schnitzel's I had in Germany and Austria., which still remaining authentic. A fabulous dish I would value way over the price, as it was truly excellent. Note: you may order an appetizer of bread and butter if you are looking for a little something before dinner. While I have had appetizers here in the past, yesterday we were not as hungry as times before. Cheesecake and coffee for dessert are the most appropriate way to finish up the meal and this real view. Warm, refined, sweet, and elegant. Book a reservation here, you will not regret it. Although I hesitate saying anything as I wish this place to remain under the radar for as long as possible, mostly for selfish reasons.

Yelp
Buckley's is a quiet, quaint restaurant in the heart of downtown Milwaukee that 100% needs to be on your list of places to go. The almost swanky atmosphere, fantastic service, and curated (yet reasonably priced) menu all make this a go-to spot for any meal. Be sure to try their lobster roll if it's on the menu when you are there!

Yelp
100% Recommend!! My husband and I dined at Buckley's on a Thursday night to celebrate our one-year anniversary. It was our first time dining here and we chose it just because it was really close to our hotel. Indeed it was worth it and beyond our expectations! The environment and service were both great. We had the Pei mussels and curry cauliflower as the starters and shared the white lamb Bolognese as the main dish. The food was really tasty and flavorful. The homemade pasta for the white lamb Bolognese (and the sauce of course) was amazing! We also had a slice of chocolate cake as the dessert. The server/restaurant was really considerate to light us a candle, knowing that it was our anniversary. That was super sweet. The cake was also delicious. Overall I would definitely recommend this place!

Yelp
It is no coincidence or stroke of luck that Buckley's has been around so long and is thriving even post-covid. They have earned their wonderful reputation and I am so glad I finally got to try their delicious food! Such a great experience! Before anything else, I have to talk about the vibes. It was a beautiful day, and part of the reason we picked Buckley's was for the patio. It's hard to provide ambiance on a patio, but they manage to make it flow perfectly. My friend and I enjoyed the oldies playlist they were playing so much - just the right combination of upbeat and chill - that we asked them which playlist they used (in case you're wondering: Wolfgang, the bartender, had "War Radio" playing on Pandora because that band was playing at Summerfest that night). We came for the carrot cake (yes, it was as divine as everyone claims it is! Best I've ever had, hands down) but stayed for the food. Here's what we got: Jupiter Jazz: I'm always a sucker for a good gin drank and this was such a fitting name for the perfect summer patio drink! We both liked it so much we had seconds Truffled fried artichokes: I thought these were going to be very crispy and greasy, but they were just the perfect combination of soft artichoke hearts and crispy edges with a hint of truffle so that it's not overwhelming and not too greasy! Also just the right portion for an appetizer to keep you satisfied while you wait for the main course Pork Schnitzel: a different approach to schnitzel, adding ground hazelnuts in the breading. An appropriate lighter fare for summer that paired well with the salad of strawberry, rhubarb and a light vinegrette. And I got a side of the parsnip cauliflower mash with it, which was fabulous White Lamb Bolognese: while everything was delicious, this was the star of the show IMO. The ground lamb paired perfectly with their light white cream sauce. It was perfectly hearty (Pasta! Lamb! Cheese!) without feeling heavy Of course the carrot cake gets a second mention because it is the bomb.com ! Also it's HUGE! We split a piece and barely finished half of it. I very much appreciated that it wasn't overly sweet. The cream cheese frosting tasted like it was balanced with buttercream so that it wasn't too heavy or sweet.

Yelp
I have not been to Buckley's for at least 6 years. I'm not sure what took me so long to return. In that time they have done such a charming job in remodeling. I had the curry salmon, which was very good and don't miss out on one of their homemade desserts, we shared the chocolate cake- super yummy!
google avatar

Robert H.

Yelp
You will be hard pressed to find a better, more satisfying meal than what you will find at Buckley's. This is a family run business, but the all of the staff really seems like family too. They are attentive, dedicated and prompt to please. Buckley's has been recently expanded and renovated. They were not only able to retain the charm of the original smaller format, but also replicate it in the expanded space. Five Stars all the way!
google avatar

Susan P.

Yelp
A long time friend made dinner reservations in the bar at a high top in the window. This restaurant is very convenient, the exterior is super cute and they have some seasonal sidewalk tables. We ordered a starter of the fried artichokes, I had the beet salad and she had the fried haddock and chips. We took pieces of their special Carrot Cake home. The wait staff were very friendly, the food was good. This is a nice spot. I will be back!

Andrew H.

Yelp
Food is phenomenal and service is amazing. Ambiance is great as well. Every time better than the last

Lori L.

Yelp
How have I never been here before? Seriously the bartenders are some of the most knowledgeable I have met. You can ask them about any drink or particular liquor and they will know how to make it or pair it. The atmosphere is intimate and I really like sitting on the bar side. Plus you get to converse with the bartenders. There are ton of regulars here so you know it's a solid place. I shared some appetizers with a friend and we had the lamb lollipop and the truffled fried artichokes. My lamb was perfectly done and I honestly wanted another one. The fried artichokes were okay but I thought they were a bit over caramelized but that could just be a personal taste issue. With the chives, truffle oil, and parmesan I expected a little more delicate taste. The customer service is killer as well so that really makes this place special!

Ethan V.

Yelp
I've walked by this place numerous times but never stopped in. Decide to try it out when some family came in town and was blown away! Everything from the service, food, and atmosphere were exceptional. There are a lot of great restaurants in Milwaukee but Buckley's moved to the top of my list after that experience.
google avatar

Caledonia G.

Yelp
Both our meals were fantastic...Burger and lobster pasta. The side salad was delicious too. The restaurant itself is beautiful. Our server, Jess, was a saint with my very picky guest. I will be back.
google avatar

Greg J.

Yelp
First timer; there for a special occasion dinner. Everything was quite creative & tasty, albeit maybe a tendency to overdress things in the kitchen--focaccia dripping in (albeit high quality!) olive oyl, grilled romaine caeser a bit overlathered and pasta that was overwhelmed by the bolognase. Don't get me wrong--the flavors were delicioso, just maybe a little off balance. Cocktails and cake were outstanding. Our server was delightful and solicitous. My one complaint is the other staffers failing to clear dishes quickly when we were obviously done with the course and being a little pushy on the question of keeping silverware; I almost always do so on my own volition, but they seemed a little prickly when I asked for a new set and at their price point, it's not unreasonable to ask. First world problems; all and all glad we tried it and will return.

Yelp
My partner and I had dinner at Buckley's this week. We had an OpenTable reservation and we were seated quickly. Our waitress, Nora, pleasantly provided recommendations. My partner enjoyed his "Old and In The Way," Buckley's version of an old fashioned. The house-made focaccia was flavorful and the portions were huge. I liked the house-made lamb sausage pasta, but I was hard-pressed to find much lamb. My partner had the airline chicken. He said that it was "okay" and thought that the dragon carrots were an odd addition to the dish. We left with slices of carrot cake and cognac pumpkin cheesecake. Both desserts looked AND tasted amazing. I would give Buckley's a solid 4.5 stars.
google avatar

Andrea G.

Yelp
I was searching for a place to get desserts and drinks for a double date, and Buckley's was a wonderful hidden gem(at least it was to me) that offered some of the best desserts that I've ever eaten. The ambiance was romantic and inviting. The server (Raegan) who assisted us with our desserts and drinks selections gave us great recommendations. The four of us opted for in-house made desserts to try their famous carrot cake,a seasonal cheesecake with a cookie crust (that was absolutely delicious), key lime pie and a tuxedo chocolate cake. I paired my cheesecake with a cappuccino, and it did not disappoint. Buckley's has easily become one of my new favorite places to go to for date night, and I look forward to returning for dinner and dessert!

Yelp
This is one of our top ten in Milwaukee. We love the bar, always great atmosphere & Wolf is the best. They make the best cocktails in town and have an extensive selection of awesome spirits. We are the happy hour crew so go early and enjoy a few cocktails at this fab spot. Thanks guys. We love our time with ya
google avatar

Yelp
I dream about Buckley's fried truffle artichokes and their lamb pasta dish. I legitimately think about the artichokes on a weekly basis. All of their desserts are made in house by I believe the owner or their mother. The place is so cute!! The cocktail menu is also very good. Only sad news is when they change the menus and they don't have the homemade syrups for a cocktail you already fell in love with. I am going to really miss this place when I leave Milwaukee in a few months. Definitely check it out!
google avatar

Megan L.

Yelp
I had the pleasant opportunity to finally go to Buckley's. The service was very friendly and the seating was very appropriate for social distancing. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, without being intrusive! I knocked a star off for the price and the fact that they did not offer any gluten free options. I feel like for the price of the meals you'd think they'd cater to more dietary restrictions, but they do not. The price for one person (app, drink and entree) was $70. For what I got it seems a lot but I'll say this, the food was good! I got a bloody Mary's which was very good. I ordered the pork bolognese and the truffle artichokes. All very delicious. I came here on a date. It's a very elegant but laid-back place for a first date. My date got the burger and fries and that looked good as well.

Marjorie W.

Yelp
service was rude, food was mediocre and it was so loud we couldn't hear each other's voices.

Tim M.

Yelp
Excellent food- best burger & fish fry in downtown Milwaukee. Wonderful bartenders = delicious cocktails & wait staff is friendly and responsive. Our favorite go to in MKE
google avatar

Jackie S.

Yelp
The restaurant is beautiful. Everything else - service, food taste and food presentation is what you'd expect from a chain restaurant. I wish I would have taken a picture of our appetizer because we actually laughed. It was four pieces of bread with a scoop of butter and one slice of cheese on a plain white dish. It looked like something your grandma would serve - which would be fine if it was your grandma. It was the special. The waitress was snarky when she came back to tell us what we ordered was sold out. The mushroom pasta lacked mushrooms. The salmon was good but the rice it came with just cooked improperly. High price tag low execution.
google avatar

Andy K.

Yelp
Lunch and Brunch I've been here so many times, it's hard to believe I haven't already reviewed. At this point, what can I say that others haven't said? Absolutely nothing. Buckley's is a top notch spot that you have to check out if you haven't already. The lunch and dinner menu is stellar and Buckley's would definitey rate highly in my Top 10 list for MKE. With the new build-out, there is far more space and less waiting but it keeps the same cozy atmosphere as before. Staff is super friendly and attentive. No complaints here!

Amber N.

Yelp
Lovely ambiance. Extra covid cautious in that they ask you to replace your mask when the servers come to your table which I didn't mind. They have dividers between the tables but they blend beautifully with the decor. Food was yummy and comforting. We started with the truffle fries artichokes we had Read so much about and they did not disappoint. My husband had the short rib and I went with the kale and fennel Caesar + chicken to try to be healthy--spoiler: it wasn't healthy, but it was good. No complaints The show stopper was the carrot cake. I was tempted by the chocolate cake or the cheesecake for dessert being a chocolate girl myself but Buckley's seems to be known for the carrot cake so we went for it and it was the best part of the meal! Very moist satisfying, perfect balance of flavors. Delightful

Yelp
Ok...so my friend and I had a girls night of decadence and Buckleys did not disappoint. The staff was super friendly, inviting and helpful. The waitstaff, Devin, was prompt, friendly, and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and special. The FOOD was amazing! And I felt worth the price. It was pricey!! But one night a month being over the top isn't too bad. I'd go back again for sure.

Yelp
Interesting atmosphere, historic feel. Food...terrible. Service....even worse. A quick bite at the bar was the goal....ordered an entree to share... "Pork Schnitzel"...... big mistake. Improperly prepared, livery, funky, burned...all hiding under a pile of clever but equally awful toppings. Had to SPIT IT OUT! Then wait 20 minutes to politely send it back.

Yelp
Let me start by saying... best burger ever! Like I have had my fair share of burgers in life, and have not had one nearly as good as Buckley's! I got this burger for takeout, so I can only imagine how amazing it is when it comes out fresh to your table. I ordered Buckley's because I saw their picnic basket item was lobster mac n cheese. As a coastie living in Wisconsin, I take every opportunity I can to have lobster, and lobster mac happens to be one of my favorites! The lobster mac came with roasted broccoli and a side salad. I am not a huge veggie lover but even the broccoli was amazing! the lobster claws were so fully and perfectly chewy. I loved every bite. But again, the burger stole the show. I cannot wait until we can go to restaurants again because I definitely want to visit this restaurant much more often. Don't wait until curb side is over, support this business and get amazing food now!

Yelp
How have I lived in Milwaukee for 5 years and never been to Buckley's...shame on me... The Vietnamese New Year, Year of the Dog would change all that, forever. To start Buckley's is simply gorgeous. A sexy little restaurant situated on the outskirts of downtown. When you walk in, a well-decorated, cozy space, greet you with a beautiful bar to the side and very high ceilings. The ceilings are so high they help make a small space feel much larger than it truly is. To say Buckley's is cozy is an understatement. The spot is just downright relaxing. Special menu, for a special weekend! That's what I was treated to for my first visit to this establishment. We started with Vietnamese eggrolls and a shot of bone tea broth. This bone tea was nothing less than perfection. I could drink this daily, especially in the winter. I feel it could be the cure for all ill winter blues or calm down any signs of sickness going down. Packed with flavor to spare this was the highlight of the meal to start. Next up, a very special dish I can't even begin to pronounce. It did have a great accompaniment of a beautifully seared pork and rice noodles along with a medley of carrots, cucumbers and a "sauce" to drizzle on that punched up the level of flavor even further. I was beyond impressed. The dish was filling, yet light. It was perfection on a plate. The friend I was with, insisted we have dessert. I'm glad I listened because I have now had what I will deem to be, the best carrot cake in Milwaukee. I will say no more except this, if you come to Buckley's for anything, you must get the carrot cake! What an amazing dinner! We even met the chef. Head Chef Thi Cao came out to ask about our experience. Those are the small touches that make Buckley's a solid destination for the goods. Five stars easily for this gem!

Yelp
Their pandemic picnic baskets are so delicious and the directions (including wine drinking) are wonderful! Their curbside pickup was seemlessly easy. I told them what my car looked like when I called in my order and then put my order right into my backseat when I arrived. When I have gone for brunch in the past... it has also been wonderful. My husband loves their burgers. Carrot cake is a must! It's enough for two people... but I didn't share!

Yelp
We ordered lobster roll and steak with a side of potatoes. And had charcuterie board for appetizer. The lobster roll was very good. My husband's only complaint was the portions were miniscule and not filling. Street parking across the restaurant and they have nice outdoor seating area by the sidewalk. The area is surrounded by mature trees so it's not painfully hot to sit outside during the summer months. Staff is super friendly and decor is interesting.

Yelp
I have eaten here 4 times in the short period of time that I've lived in MKE. One of my top 5 in Milwaukee. In the last few weeks I have had the duck breast at c 1880, morel and here. Buckley's wins by a long shot. The crab stuffed trout, pork chop, truffle fried artichokes, blue cheese fries, cauliflower app and burger are a must. The monkey dickel cocktail was on point. Great wine by the glass selection for both red & white varieties. The service ( host , bartenders, servers) have all been incredible. Support this place. It's amazing.
