Bud’s is a small quaint coffee shop with happy neighborhood vibes, good Chai Latte, Matcha Latte and Cheddar Cheese Scones. Servers were super friendly. The shop front is so unassuming we almost missed it as we were looking for a warm place to take a break from the cold.

Google
Long time customer. always perfect lattes, flat whites.. etc & espresso bean selection. love the brand hatch they carry.

I’ve been going to Bud’s whenever I’m in the beaches area and really enjoy my experience whenever I go. The coffee is fantastic, my favourite place to get a nice, classic latte for sure. The maple oat scone is a must try too, super tasty! The staff are so lovely and an absolute pleasure to order and chat with. Also incredibly efficient, especially during busier times. The quality of my drinks remain the same every time, even when they’re swamped. I’m always greeted when I walk in and overall, the staff have this very welcoming and friendly vibe to them. Overall, extremely happy with the food and service here. Will definitely continue to support this small business in the future, it’s such an adorable little spot!

Google
Cute little cafe on Queen. Got an iced Americano and Vanilla Misto. Haven’t tried anything else but the coffee so far so I can’t rate anything but the coffee drinks. And it’s fairly smooth but could be a bit bolder. Great service, clean cafe and a little cozy.

Google
Best coffee shop in the beaches for sure. Great coffee , lovely staff/people and overall a very welcoming vibe. Amazing pastries. The cutest patio in the summer Super cute kids area in the back too. Love buds coffee more than I can put into words- Couldn’t recommend enough !

Google
Trying to find a cozy spot for a great cup of java in The Beaches? Trying to find a warm, friendly smile along with a delicious muffin, scone, or cookie? Bud's is your place... or your second home! Thankful for baked options to accommodate my allergies!

Google
Friendly specialty cafe, supporting small business. The Cortado and flat white were great, the latte art was amazing with a small swan on a tulip. I had both cups, lol, needed caffeine. Seated in front of the garage door window looking out to Queen street. Pleasant experience.

Yelp
Very good coffee. Small place, not much place for a child so more recommend for Couples or group of friends. Very friendly staff and nice surroundings.

Vanessa V.

Yelp
Best Coffee in Toronto. I always miss it when I'm away. kind staff, great way to spend an hour either sipping on the patio or walking drink in hand along the boardwalk. Our favourites are the flat white or the iced mocha.

Yelp
Recommended by our Airbnb proprietor, this place is solid! Charming and laid back, Bud's is located only a couple of blocks from the beach, making it a great location overall. Because it is within walking distance from our pad, we don't know anything about parking. I had a quad latte and a scone, which was pretty darn delicious. The place is very clean, with soft ambient lighting and a great music selection. Individual tables with charging ports are available in the benched area on the other side of the bathrooms. I mean, how cool is that? It was pretty quiet when we went, which was mid-morning on a weekday, but folks came in and out to get their caffeine hook ups. The service was great!

Annie Y.

Yelp
Got the drip coffee and London fog and they were both delicious Easily the best London fog I have ever tried and the prices were super reasonable! Would definitely recommend it if you're in the area and looking for a place to pick up some drinks :) Before going I heard there is usually a pretty long wait time but I went around 5:30pm on a weekday and there was no line!

Jessica Y.

Yelp
Amazing coffee! Although they do change up their coffee beans from time to time. Love the set up as it's clean and contactless during these Covid times. The only thing to be mindful is, they should wipe down the card terminal after every customer used it.. since tap is not enabled. It's required that you key in your pin #.

Yelp
This review applies for the cappuccino only as I didn't get to try any other items. The setup is very simple and from what I can tell no A/C I think more of a grab and go kind of place. Here is the verdict Espresso: Mellow Crema': Good Milk: Frothed well Latte Art: decent An good version of a cappuccino and I wouldn't mind a revisit if I am in the area.

Yelp
Good coffee and Wonderful location. Grab a takeaway and spend time at the beach. Space and Parking is a concern here but no complaints it's basically great idea to grab a coffee and take a walk. Freshly brewed every coffee was wonderful.

Jonas K.

Yelp
Nice street side patio. I generally don't care for the espresso. A few times out of several tries I've enjoyed a latte - or a chai latte. Variable quality. Seems to really depend who is working that day. Americano generally not great,, ever with a lot of fine solids in the cup. Today was a train wreck, undrinkable. The drip coffees usually taste under-extracted and sour, sour, sour. No depth, aroma and richness under the acidity 25% of the time the drip offerings are not brewed badly, but I can't recommend Buds as a solid coffee place. Love the tee shirts though. Wish they had better product QC! There's not a huge number of coffee places in the Beach.

Yelp
I feel like the Beaches are purposely keeping Bud's under wraps and not letting anyone know about this spot. I had no idea about Bud's and was dreading of finding a good cup on the East side. With the overwhelming positives for this spot, I stepped into their door and was happy to Sam James beans being used. Recently, it sounds like they moved to a bigger spot and still making a great cup. It is still very busy... even on a lazy Saturday afternoon, there were no tables freed up and there was a constant line up was in and out of the place. It has a great friendly vibe and everyone here is quite warm with each other. It's clear that Bud's has made themselves part of the community because of the number of personal conversations between patrons or the staff and patrons. This was really nice to see. I guess Toronto can be friendly after all! I have to appreciate how they use the good Canadian brands like Pluck and Cut Coffee to create their drinks. Nothing like supporting a good local brand. I think the baristas really know their drinks cause the flat whites we got were surpassing some of the well known coffee shops that sit on Toronto top 50. Flat White with almond milk - The butter knife beans are just so good and Bud's did them right. This was a rich and robust coffee flavour with a touch of milkiness from the microfoamed milk. No acidity to make me wince. We decided to do the cashew and almond milk side by side taste test. I personally liked the almond milk more. I found it didn't influence the flat white as much and let the coffee flavour be more forward. I liked this one. 4/5 Flat White with cashew milk - I found the cashew milk version to have less of a coffee flavour... it definitely changed the taste. I would say it was a milkier flavour but more muted for sure. I did find cashew milk to be creamier than the almond milk but also weirdly enough, A touch more sweet? So if you're looking for the texture the most closest to cow's milk, this would probably be your favourite alternative milk. Kudos to Buds for offering more than one type of nut milk. 4/5 If I'm far out east again, I'll definitely make Bud my choice to get a good flat white and happy I'm not stuck to Starbucks.

Yelp
Can't think of anything I didn't like about Bud's hence them netting a 5 star. Ok one thing - there could be more seating. Maybe get something going around the back? There are really nice places to walk to with take away nearby anyway. I had a capuccino and egg cookie. Good basic stuff. The place is focussed on the drink scene and that makes me happy. Water, milk and toppings out to help youself with as well. Just a really welcoming place keeping it real and putting the customer first.

Owen R.

Yelp
Honestly, the best flat white I think I ever drank! Ckean and bright setting. Friendly staff. Awesome!

Jennifer K.

Yelp
I love everything about Bud's Coffee Bar! From the simple industrial deco to the cool hipster vibe. And both our Cappuccino and Cortado were well made with nice micro milk froth for a perfect latte art! Though has limited seating, most people do have it to go as we had no problem getting our seats and enjoying our coffees with a good view of Queen St! I will definitely be coming back to Bud's for my espresso fix whenever I am in the area!

Jennifer K.

Yelp
I could write an ode to this place. I go almost every day. It's pricier but so so so so wonderful. Get the vegan energy bar. Get three! Eat them all, don't share. The staff are lovely. So patient pouring the milk into the coffee to *just* the right level of milkiness. I rather love their americano as well. To buy beans here is incredibly pricey, however... but worth a treat. It was kind of cool how quickly they adapted to the pandemic restrictions by moving the store around to become a walk up.

Harry J.

Yelp
Oh yeah~~ I found great coffee place in Beaches area!! Wow ..they have really good coffee! I am sure this is the only place ..making and doing Perfect and Right espresso coffee in Beaches area. Better than dark horses for me! Great espresso coffee ..when it made with iced latte It taste so heaven:) So cozy, small place .. and nice and kind staff !!

Tina H.

Yelp
Great spot for coffee in the Beaches. Grab a latte and go for a walk down to the beach, you won't regret it. This neighborhood is friendly, and people will talk to you, which is a nice change from downtown coffee shops. They have a loyalty card. It's a gap-toothed monster and they punch out the teeth as you buy coffees. That's fun compared to the regular stamp cards. Service is friendly, espresso-based drinks are delicious and flavourful. They also have breakfast sandwiches. I don't love the food, but the coffee is delicious, and it's fun to grab coffee then go for a walk down to the beach. It's located in a good area on Queen St East. They have a play area in the back where families bring their kids. It's at the back of the cafe, and the area is slightly lowered, so while they're kid-friendly, the children are in their own area and the layout is accommodating to those of us who just want coffee and don't want to feel like we are walking through a daycare. Great way to accommodate families while not being disruptive to others, something I don't see done well at many places, so kudos to them on this layout. They used to be a couple of blocks west. They moved, and this new location is much better. It's got better natural light. The old location's experience was kinda disappointing (unfriendly staff, sad vibe) but it looks like they've made some great changes after the move. Probably the best cafe in the area. Would definitely go back when going to the beach.

Vanessa R.

Yelp
Great place for coffee. Today I have decided to order their matcha latte for a change and to show my support to local businesses. After receiving my order and left, started drinking my so called "Matcha latte" which I paid $6.00 for and all I taste was glass of milk with green colour. There was no matcha in this cup. I am disappointed, I should have gone to Starbucks next door.

Amelia M.

Yelp
Great coffee and great vibes. There needs to be more coffee shops of the like along the beaches. Only thing is I wish they would have more seating. Its very small, and more of a grab and go shop then a place to chill and work.

David M.

Yelp
They moved just east to 1966 1/2 Queen St. E., and they're better than ever. They've got a bigger space, with a garage door across the whole front. Can't wait till spring!

Bree G.

Yelp
I love this place. They're fast, the coffee is great, and the staff is fantastic. In the summer they make a watermelon/lemonade drink that's so refreshing.

Yulia R.

Yelp
The cappuccino was quite good, and the service friendly. But the place felt small and full of commotion; not ideal for leisurely conversation or for quiet working/reading. Still, probably some of the better coffee in the Beaches.

Karen C.

Yelp
Awesome coffee. Always a line up outside. Nice baked goods. A bit expensive. Hopefully they have inside service again soon.

Janis C.

Yelp
Yay, Buds has a new location! Same great coffee and service. Nice big table inside and bench outside or take your coffee to the beach, it's so close!

Freddy E.

Yelp
Very good place. Reviews said try the breakfast sandwich, so I did. Pretty good, though just English muffin size, so a bit disappointing for $6. Great coffee.

R M.

Yelp
THE BEST COFFEE in the Beaches. Lovely team of baristas. They did a Fantastic job pivoting during the pandemic. Honestly a beacon of quality in the community. THANK YOU!

Mario P.

Yelp
I was visiting from NY and just found this place looking for some good coffee and It was the best coffee I found in my week in Toronto. I visit alot and try new places all the time there but im definitely returning to Bud's.

Zalt Ann Pepper P.

Yelp
Great coffee and vibe, highly recommended this spot!! Had a vanilla latte and cold brew, top notch!!

Kristen B.

Yelp
Stopped in at Bud's Coffee bar for an afternoon caffeine pick up after a walk on the beach. I opted for their mocha. With two shots of espresso it was the perfect pairing of caffeine and chocolate. The milk was creamy and allowed you to start sipping it right away, delicious!

Jim B.

Yelp
Very rude!, was a daily customer. Showed up christmas eve for my daily latte at 730 , no holiday hours posted. The young man working inside saw me standing there and we made eye contact 3 times over 15 minutes. Finally i knocked on the door to ask the hours and he came out and told me 8 oclock. You would think if you saw a customer standing out front that you would take 30 seconds out of your day to let them know when they can come in. i will not return

Joel S.

Yelp
One of my favourite places to get a coffee in the area. The iced tea and lemonade drinks are very good as well. Generally I grab a flat white or a regular brew coffee and both are done very well. They offer porchlight sandwiches and a few random baked goods as well. All that I have tried have been good.

Joey C.

Yelp
As a coffee aficionado myself, I can't help but be so excited every time I discover a new indie cafe in Toronto. Bud's is a great space and in a great neighbourhood! Their lattes, cappuccinos and other espresso drinks are great. They expertly craft great beverages using quality beans (Cut roasters - Sam James). The coffee is smooth, aromatic and beautiful. The only quibble is that I see a lot of flies really taking it to their pastries every time I visit. :( While the space is great(rustic with a hippie vibe), it's not a place to hang out. There's not a lot of chairs and/or tables but then again with this place being beach-side (almost), why would you want to be indoors?

Tavis M.

Yelp
Boom goes dynamite, welcome to the best coffee in the beach. The beach has NEVER had coffee that compared with some of the shops west of Woodbine (Mercury, Te Aro, Rooster, Dark Horse, etc). Until recently the beach only had "Wunderland" on one end and "Remarkable Bean" on the other with Oscar opening up somewhere in between. Neither are wondrous or remarkable. These two spots have a long history at the beach, but neither compared with any of those shops west of woodbine (I have tried them each at least a dozen times), and I'd have to drive out to get a decent cup until now (unless I was going for vegan milk and yes, Tori's bakeshop (also in the beach) makes an awesome vegan coffee) The owner of Bud's knows coffee. He has had experience working with some of the best shops in the city and is doing everything right. I've tried a variety of coffees ranging from lattes to cortado to espresso from each of the baristas he's hired so far and each time the consistency of quality has been met. Bud's has a lot of potential to get very crowded, so go now and order as much as you can before the lines start.

Mark W.

Yelp
Finally, a good coffee shop in the beaches! The neighbourhood has moved one step closer to self sufficiency. Sam James beans are used and make for good cortados.

Lucy N.

Yelp
Best cappuccino in the Beach. Low key atmosphere, great staff, perfect counter at a nice sunny window for a leisurely drink while reading the paper. Baked goods, sandwiches - all really nice. My fave (only) coffee spot in the neighbourhood.

Jayne X.

Yelp
Delicious flat white with a flavour worthy of a taste when you are in the beach village! I will definitely be back!

Andrew P.

Yelp
Ken, Sarah, Simon, Ryan and Saab! These guys rock! Great to have a Beacher run Coffee place in The Beaches. Great Cut Coffee, Great Service and now the new sandwickes are fantastic!

Gwen F.

Yelp
Best coffee in the Beach and the East end. Friendly service, tasty baked goods and sandwiches, and Cut Coffee for sale to take home! Definitely worth a visit. I am now a regular!

Heather M.

Yelp
Wonderful, love the latte. Great spot. The boys working there are great made a cute design in the foam. Good location with a TTC stop right outside.

Russ R.

Yelp
Drove by Bud's, and decided to give the coffee house a try. I look at the machine, and it's a high quality la marzocco, once you see that and the owner behind the counter, hopes are up for a an excellent cappuccino, and we were not disappointed. The cappuccino was excellent, perfect temp, creamy, and has some of that burnt raisiny taste, that my wife and I like. The almond croissant on the other hand, meh, it's a real croissant, sliced in half and filled with almond paste (not the fake stuff) but it didn't seem like it was double baked, or maybe it was just on the stale side, anyway, definitely lacking...

Renee M.

Yelp
I'm positive I don't want to be served coffee by awkward, disinterested teenage bros who couldn't be bothered to explain to the customer after me what cold brew coffee is. My iced soy latte was weak and watery, as was my friend's cortado. Just because you can pour the foam into a flower shape, doesn't mean the coffee is up to par. Disappointed.

Julie M.

Yelp
Came here during a snowstorm and it was very inviting and cozy. The PourOver was delicious! Next time I come in I'll try the breakfast sandwich and an espresso-based drink.

Richard S.

Yelp
The cappuccino is okay. A little too milky for me. I like my cappuccino a bit stronger. I had better. The pastries are bad. I had the blueberry cake. Looking for a better place near the beaches

May C.

Yelp
Lovely little coffee spot in the beaches. Great cappuccino using Cut Coffee beans. Would be nicer if they have more seating, especially for winter. They have only a few bar chairs and a couch.

Elle R.

Yelp
This is a great addition to east end. Small space and seating is limited, however, it makes it quite cozy, I would recommend it for a "grab and go" coffee spot for that reason. Owners are very friendly and polite. It has a very welcoming atmosphere where you feel like your a regular instantly at their location. I ordered the Americano with an extra shot of expresso (my classic order at most coffee shops). And it is very delicious and has great flavour. Very conveniently located right outside the streetcar stop at Elmer perfect for a quick coffee or a grab and go before commuting dT.

Mark J.

Yelp
I had heard about this new place recently and since I was in the area thought I would give it a try. It is very open concept, very warm, lots of room in the front and could benefit from a couple of small tables, though there is a very attractive window bar area at the front that would seat a few people. The layout and decor of the place is very similar to other Toronto urban indy coffee shops like Dark Horse. What really matters, though, is the coffee. I order an Americano and muffin, and both were delicious. The Americano was rich and complex and hit the spot. The muffin chocolate chip banana, was fresh and very good. The owners were very friendly. The Beach is full of coffee shops, and this is a nice standout for the location and quality of the coffee. Adding a few places to sit might make me want to hang out there rather than just a grab and go.

Mira V.

Yelp
This place served up a great flat white. It's time The Beach served up more than your cookie cutter starbucks!

Bethan D.

Yelp
When I saw this place open I thought "not another coffee shop on Queen". Despite my prejudged opinion on the over saturation of independent coffee shops in the beaches I was pleasantly surprised. They don't do drip coffee so ordered an Americano, and I can say it was the best I have had to date! It was the perfect temperature and not bitter or burnt at all. Service was friendly and fast. They had an assortment of locally sourced coffees and baked goods available at the front counter and were knowledgeable in all their products. My only complaint would be the lack of substantial food, I like to have the option of grabbing a sandwich when I'm in a coffee bar doing work or school work. Other than that highly recommend it! Great vibe, great staff, great location and more importantly great coffee! What more could you want ?!

Tyla T.

Yelp
Great cozy local coffee spot. It's a nice addition to the area. It's my go to for a delicious latte and treat. Not to mention they have amazing butter tarts now too!

Kaitlin M.

Yelp
Great little coffee shop. The got what you need for your fix. Last time there I tried the green tea latte and it was awesome. Plus the lids to the cups are incredibly cool. Kudos!

Graham K.

Yelp
The service was excellent, the croissants fresh and the atmosphere bright and warm. Alas the espresso was sub-par, not creamy with a distinct burnt note and after taste of grounds.
