On the Grid : Buddy Brew

"A local husband and wife duo created Buddy Brew with a simple guiding mission: Brew Good. Do Good. Their serious passion for quality coffee has lead to the strongest cold brew in town, a favorite that fuels our late nights around the agency. But if you're more of the tea or green juice type, Buddy Brew has you covered there too. And their chili lime avocado toast is hard to beat. Beyond the food and drink, check out the paint job in the bathroom - it sounds weird, but no stone was left unturned in this shop's gorgeous interior by Oxford Design. Their patio is also dog friendly, so grab your pup and a chair at Buddy Brew for a ridiculously delicious and hip pit stop between the shops." - Spark

Great coffee and tea experience here today with a cappuccino and hot green tea. Great service for made to order beverages. We passed on the great array of pastries and lunch options. The venue offers merch and bagged coffee to extend your Buddy Brew experience at home. The background músic was soft initially and then increased to a volume that still allows conversation. Menus are on white paper with dark letters, very legible and in a flip chart type of option. Menus are all posted on the wall behind the counter on a black board with white letters that is extremely Order and pick up counter are accessible height with quick service. The venue offers an accessible entry with medium weight door indoors are accessible tables and a sofa seating area as well as high top tables outdoors to accessible table tables are also available Restroom is accessible with signage in braille the restroom offers a 5‘ x 8‘ space to grab bars Free street parking parallel style is available to augment the very small parking lot that is often crowded. The bicycle rack out front offers plenty of room for those who choose to ride up Lighting is adequate for working for visit visiting and enjoying coffee

I stopped into Buddy Brew Coffee and tried the iced sugar cookie matcha. As sweet as it sounds, it was surprisingly well-balanced—not overwhelming at all, just sweet enough to really enjoy without feeling heavy. The ambience is great too. The space is open and thoughtfully laid out, so you don’t feel cramped, and it’s genuinely a solid spot for studying or getting work done. Overall, a cozy, welcoming café with drinks that definitely impressed me. Would recommend.

I came here to order a hot chocolate only. I was craving a good Belgian hot chocolate in a place where they would steam the milk right and it would hopefully not be made out of chocolate syrup. While I couldn’t see how it was made, I can definitely say it was well done, European (Belgian style). In my opinion, they could use a bit stronger chocolate to get a bit richer flavor, but for me, it was perfect. This is not the typical hot chocolate that you get in other places where it is extremely sweet, is not meant to be this way. The milk was steamed to perfection, and the second picture you can see how the foam stays in the cup after drinking it, which is exactly what is supposed to happen. I give it a 7/10, but a 9/10 for the US, as it is pretty rare for a place to do it this way.

Google
Lively coffee spot to start your day ☕️ Nice menu, variety of seating and friendly staff Lots of people working on laptops and taking calls which makes for a nice Monday morning atmosphere 🤷‍♀️ Try not to use the bathroom as it’s dirty

Google
The best coffee places in town There are a few locations of which this in Kennedy is spacious You can have your coffee and relax There is parking on the side and back of the coffee shop Highly recommend the two poached eggs with the choice of bread and the Hyde park sandwich Try to check out the seasonal items and cookies Also try the croissant

Google
Such a delicious place to eat and drink! Plenty of seating indoors and parking lot in the back. I got the classic sandwich and a cinnamon roll latte. I highly recommend!

Google
I have gone to buddy brew in hyde park and absolutely loved my experience there. The Kennedy location is was met with nothing but hostility and mean looks. They also did not make my drink right, which i have gotten at hyde park so I know what it should taste like. I got 2 drinks one with milk and one with oat, and they wouldn't tell me which was which. Wouldn't recommend this location.

Google
A cozy coffee shop that sits on Kennedy Boulevard. The atmosphere is great; there’s lots of places to study, couches to read books, and it feels modern. There’s dozens of Buddy Brew locations in Tampa Bay, and this location has the best feel overall. The service was good too; they were friendly. Everyone from the cashier to the high-up executives were friendly with us. The food here isn’t that great, but is still worth trying. My hot chocolate was served with a mug and some cream art. It wasn’t too hot but I didn’t taste much of the chocolate. The avocado toast is served in slices, rather than spread out. However, it’s still fine. Overall, this is the best location.

Yelp
Apparently... THIS IS THE PLACE. Honestly, if you want a front and center view of what's happening in Hyde Park Tampa..this is the place.. in fact, there is a valet car service right in FRONT of this coffee shop.. so it gets very congested on this street. Getting a cup of jo or matcha here is entertaining as you check out the Who's Who of Tampa.
google avatar

Leesa T.

Yelp
The service isn't that great and the coffee is ok. Once you've had different regions in one location, you're kinda just not that into bitterness. I love the concept of Buddy Brew and their name. The flavor of their coffee bites back pretty hard. The ambiance is stark and hurry up and wait for a seat. There's never anywhere to sit.
google avatar

Natalie Q.

Yelp
Tried their iced latte w lavender today. It was fine. It was good if you're trying to pick up something fast. The latte was thin, watered down- I'm not sure the right way to word that but hope that makes sense. The flavor of the espresso and the syrup were good. Cute spot, plenty of parking. I would grab a drink from there again if I was in a hurry but I wouldn't go out of my way to get their coffee.
google avatar

Brittany M.

Yelp
This reason I really enjoy their cinnamon roll latte so I've been trying to get it when I can. I stopped into this Kennedy location and it wasn't too busy on this afternoon. I had a coupon from a few weeks back that I wanted to use so I got the Cinnamon roll latte iced. My drink was ready in minutes and it was just like I expected and I really like the foam they add on top. If you've never tried Buddy Brew beans at home, I highly recommend. I use the Cubano espresso beans in my Breville and it's a great brew.

Yelp
Busy cafe, working atmosphere and meet ups. If you like that vive. Came in to do some work and tried their Tuscan toast so gooooood! I want to create something like it! And seasonal ginger latte I could taste it. It didn't take me that long to decide to go here...first time happy camper. Service was cool and seamless. Parking is a little challenging.
google avatar

Yelp
Its dog themed. Funny enough they sell stickers that look almost the same as my stickers for an entirely different business. But they have dog stuff here point being. I am very cool with that. This location is bigger and less crowded than Hyde Park Village. The iced coffee and chocolate chip cookie were both awesome but the dog stuff is mostly the point.

Yelp
These drinks are super refreshing on a hot day. Definitely coming back! I really enjoy the vibe at Amature Works as well.
google avatar

Gabbi H.

Yelp
Every latte I've had here hits just right. There is a clean, stylish aesthetic and a pleasant place to linger or grab coffee on the go. Their menu has a lot of different options and has more than just coffee. The vibe is relaxed but super cute-- local community meets modern design. During peak hours, the line can stretch a bit, but minor issue in the face of the overall experience.
google avatar

Liyike J.

Yelp
Tried the cappuccino Tampa bay's local coffee shops Nice staff, great service, parking available when I got there
google avatar

Alexia M.

Yelp
The service was pretty quick, but when I sipped my matcha, there were clumps at the bottom that I kept drinking up. While I was still waiting for my sandwich, I wished the barista had taken more time to properly whisk the matcha. The breakfast sandwich, however, was really delicious. It reminded me of the egg white pepper bites from Starbucks, with great flavor and lots of cheese.
google avatar

Yelp
Had their seasonal latte banana split iced. Very good not to sweet. Friendly staff and very fast. Great place to work/study, it wasn't too loud.
google avatar

Zaid N.

Yelp
Nice spot in Hyde park to get coffee and hangout. I got the affogato and it was actually pretty good. Service was alright and atmosphere is inviting! Would definitely come back!
google avatar

Brigitte L.

Yelp
I didn't get a snap of my drink but it was yummy! I just got a tea so it was something simple but it was perfect and hit the spot. Staff at the register was friendly and my drink was up quick!
google avatar

Julianna M.

Yelp
The coffee was so strong and delicious. Woke me right up after my flight. We wanted to get a quick breakfast but they were out of most of the sandwiches and we were there around 11. What we did end up ordering was the turkey bec and avocado toast with a poached egg. There is outdoor seating, which is lovely on a warm day. And the inside of this place is super cute with WiFi so quite a few business meetings going on. I'll definitely be back while I'm in Tampa.
google avatar

Kaylynn O.

Yelp
I had one of their seasonal drinks, it was sooo good! This is my favorite place to visit when visiting Tampa. Their coffee is amazing as well.
google avatar

Anelle V.

Yelp
I hope we just caught them on a bad day.. unfortunately seems like I paid $14 for milk.
google avatar

Skylar W.

Yelp
Haven't eaten at Buddy Brew in awhile, and I'm so glad I did this morning! I had a work coffee meeting at the Kennedy location and needed some food too. I ordered the bacon biscuit and absolutely loved it! I didn't need the second half of the biscuit personally it was a lot, but what I did eat was delicious. Cheese, bacon, egg, and biscuit...what more could I ask for?! I was asked if I wanted chips or fruit and opted for fruit, but it was only a couple slices of oranges. Definitely expected a variety of fruit like a traditional fruit cup, but it was fine. My latte was good as well.

Yelp
We recently took a day trip to St.Pete and we had to stop by Buddy Brews to grad a coffee. It was our first time here and the place was so laidback, I really loved the decor and ambiance of the coffee shop. They had a cute cozy couch in the back to sit back and relax with friends or your other half, which I loved. They also offered plenty of areas to study if your popping in to work for the day and needed a change of scenery. We got their cold brew and their nitro which I was super surprised how strong it was it had a good "blast" of caffeine. Just the perfect pick me up before we headed back to Orlando. Definitely will be back, if your in the area stop in to their "Bay to Bay" location it was definitely the nicest one!
google avatar

Hayli Z.

Yelp
Stopped in here to get one of their teas and ordered a green mango tea but it tasted like black tea. I've had tons of green and black tea in my life and this tasted like flavorless black tea so kind of disappointed with that. My friend got an iced Americana and liked that though so coffee good, tea no

Kai K.

Yelp
The barista who made our drinks was very sweet! Im so glad this coffee shop offers smoothies on top of their extensive coffee menu. Both were perfect and there is a big open space with lots of seating here :)
google avatar

Lucia D.

Yelp
Updating my review as I have been informed by the manager that they do have cheddar cheese for their sandwiches. I got bad info from the salesgirl. Messed up my breakfast but I also appreciate the manager responding quickly. Ambiance is wonderful. Good looks great. They only have provolone and white American cheese choices. They use elmhurst almond milk! Super impressive. They also have oat milk and soy milk, honey and cinnamon.

Yoon-Jae Y.

Yelp
Very clean, friendly staff, and such a cute aesthetic. The coffee was really good and I love how they use plant straws that aren't paper straws that get soggy. They had plenty of seating for the size of the cafe. Would definitely go back.
google avatar

Desirae V.

Yelp
Friendly staff, good coffee & food, ambiance is cute and local. Perfect for working remote or catching a quick bite.
google avatar

Adrianne S.

Yelp
Came in for a quick cold brew on a very hot day and it hit the spot. Smooth and flavorful. The vibe was very chill and spacious for everyone. Will try some of thier specialties next time
google avatar

Tyler S.

Yelp
I continually come to Buddy Brew for lunch, breakfast, and even to work remotely. I tried the Kennedy sandwich with chips and the turkey, avo, and Sriracha aioli were a killer combination. I even found a parking spot today! Thanks BB for being a consistent place for refreshments and great service.
google avatar

Edwin D.

Yelp
This place offers coffee, espresso-based drinks and flavored hot and cold teas at the slow bar, along with a small selection of snacks and pastries! The service was friendly and the internet is fast and I think unlimited! The place was well air conditioned too. Rainforest coffee and an almond croissant pictured! Cool place to study or chill. Thanks!

Yelp
I tried to place an online order on a Sunday morning at 8 am, but it said they were not allowing online orders at the time, so I was forced to drive over and pick up from an instore order. There were only a few people inside, but I did find the barista girl to be incredibly slow in pouring the foam design onto each coffee. 2 iced lattes with oat milk and a pump of Carmel totaled 15 dollars. Honestly, for the cost and the experience, I was not impressed. The inside didn't even have that wonderful coffee smell, and the outside parking is not great either.
google avatar

Nicole M.

Yelp
Chicken pesto sandwich not even a full bite easily the worst sandwich I've ever had. Very disappointed Just everything went wrong. My friends latte had an odd taste and get tea was hot over ice odd. Matcha was ok nothing to write home about
google avatar

Shawnie J.

Yelp
Good coffee but great customer service is key! Cannot believe the way this place operates.
google avatar

Mike A.

Yelp
Really enjoyed getting a latte recently from Buddy Brew Coffee! It's cool that I just learned that there are several locations around Tampa, because there were a ton of great options on the menu, and the service was both fast and friendly! I even talked my friend into trying a cappuccino for the first time instead of her usual black coffee, and she really enjoyed it. So will certainly recommend Buddy Brew Coffee for all you coffee, tea, and pastry fans!
google avatar

Ricardo R.

Yelp
Had 2 ice coffees but it was not As expected coffees seemed not fresh and didn't taste that good. Staff was Still super friendly and store was pretty

Stephanie D.

Yelp
3 coffee's and 3 breakfast sandwiches which were all made incorrectly and very tiny $55. After getting them home with a friend who just donated a kidney ! We realizing they were all made incorrectly we were all VERY disappointed.
google avatar

Ali S.

Yelp
Super quick, friendly and ready to help with any questions. Cold brew with a splash of milk and one pump of mocha... delicious & exactly what I needed. Fun retro feel that fits perfectly in the market. We'll be back next time we're in Tampa. Thanks!
google avatar

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Once, there was a breakfast biscuit-crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside and subtly salty. Salty! Oh my!!! I came for the chai... but this biscuit stole the limelight... and my heart. It comes with honey and butter... and it's just the right kind of filling. I'm humming and may break into a skip. The Beverly Biscuit-I applaud you. Now, there are other things on the menu-and I will come back and try them. And the chai was everything I hoped for. The service-was totally top notch-very friendly and welcoming. And it's amazing how busy Kennedy Boulevard looked peaceful from in here. It was the perfect spot to chill for a bit. It's got this effortlessly calming vibe going on... and there are plenty of seating options: from wooden high top counters, to communal tables to deep sofas. (Do I really have to leave and run errands?) On Kennedy at Albany, just west of downtown Tampa, there's street parking and a few spaces in back. My biscuit and chai ran $6.50 plus tax. I'll be back-hope to see you!
google avatar

Sarah W.

Yelp
Really cute place, we went late on Sunday morning to the Hyde Park location and it was decently busy. The parking lot is super tiny so that's the only downside, but you can order takeout ahead so that's what we did. I got the ham and cheese biscuit sandwich with an egg, pumpkin loaf, and a cold brew. The sandwich was really good and the biscuit was incredible. I almost wish I didn't add on the egg because it made it super messy. The pumpkin loaf was perfectly moist and flavorful. The cold brew was also good, I added the mocha flavor which I didn't realize didn't add any sweetness, so next time I might opt for a different flavor, but the coffee itself was good. Service could have been better...we were not greeted and did not see a smile the whole time lol. The girl seemed inconvenienced when we pointed out that two coffees were missing from our order. Slightly pricey but on par with the area. Overall I'd probably come back again and give it another shot.

Yelp
My favorite coffee roaster in Tampa is Buddy Brew. When I am in the area I always make it a point to stop in for a great cup of joe. I know when a coffee roaster has done it right when I don't need to add sugar. It's a smooth cup of coffee and not bitter or burnt tasting like SOOO many coffees. I arrived today around 6:30 am and as you can see it wasn't busy. People started to come in around 7am but still, plenty of space to park and your pick of seating. This place is super busy during the day! Cozy seating areas for gathering with friends. The parking can be challenging as they have a small parking lot and the parking in the side street fills up fast too. Great place to work out of. There are plug outlets along the walls to charge your devices. No plug outlets at bar seating. I would imagine it might be challenging to charge your devices if this place is packed. So come fully charged...just in case then move closer to a outlet when someone leaves. They have Halelife vegan/gluten free donuts for my vegans and gluten free peeps.
google avatar

Christine F.

Yelp
Buddy Brew has an industrial interior with lots of places to sit. I ordered a mocha latte with pumpkin bread and avocado toast. I loved the pumpkin bread, but the mocha latte was not my favorite, and I probably would not order it again. They forgot to make the avocado toast, so I ended up waiting around 30 minutes for it. I do appreciate the staff was apologetic.

Yelp
Very very good It's good quality coffee very nice and modern design. the creators really understand a lot about a good drink. Thank you barista Collin

Robert E.

Yelp
I tell you barista Lauren makes buddy brew in hyde Park the greatest coffee shop I've been to in America. With her every day smile and the best service, she is a great example in every way. Lauren your awesome.

Yelp
Whoever hires here sucks. These people don't even know how to greet you when you walk to the counter. The other location nearby is fine comparatively
google avatar

Yelp
Nice quite coffe shop with good so if music. Perfect place to study or work. Staff was friendly and the drink was amazing.

Yelp
To be fair I'm rating five stars because I haven't actually been inside Buddy Brew, but I'd like to share my experience with a bag of their Holiday Blend that I picked up at Publix. Whole Bean, it was brewed just under a month ago, and I'm using a pour over method. Disclaimer, I've become a bit spoiled on a local roastery that's turning out some of the most exotic specialty coffees you might ever find. They were closed around the holidays and I had to resort to a store brand, but lucky me to have Buddy Brew, a local roaster, selling in stores! I will say that this is definitely the best store-bought coffee I've ever had. Also better than anything you'll ever taste at 'bucks or Dunkin. That said, this particular roast is so-far... uninspiring. It's very smooth, like silky smooth, and easy to drink, but the flavor is hardly there. It reminds me of when you're visiting Aunt Mary and she makes her brew so weak, you need a whole pot to feel any kick at all. Granted, it always takes a few cups to dial in a new bean. I'm only on cup two. With any different coffee though, you shouldn't have to veer "too far" from your usual brewing technique. But don't let me discourage you, they're definitely better than what you're drinking on your way to work lol. This is good coffee, and it's not just "burnt" over-roasted mass produce like what you get with large chains. No doubt, they know what they're doing. I think I need to take a trip over the bridge and get a fresh cup to really experience what they have to offer. For this particular bag, I'd give four stars.

Chris A.

Yelp
I paid 20 dollars for a tiny sandwhich and a coffee and it wasnt even that good, I think they forgot the caramel in my coffee

Steve S.

Yelp
Nice place... friendly baristas... good coffee and food... I wish they stayed open a little later,,, the atmosphere is so good that I don't want to leave.
google avatar

Reta B.

Yelp
Buddy brew is probably my favorite coffee place in Tampa thus far. their drinks are so good, I usually get their iced cappuccino with Carmel and its delicious!! I came here with a friend, they have plenty of seating to study, just enjoy your coffee or meet people here. I really enjoyed it here!
google avatar

Hannah K.

Yelp
Some of the best coffee in Tampa with a cool vibe! Come here to hang, read, work, chat with friends or just be. Plenty of seating, friendly staff, and great food too!
google avatar

Jazmin V.

Yelp
The buddy brew on Kennedy has the best work environment from the buddy brews I've been at so far. I've hit up Hyde Park and Bay to Bay, and Armature. I honestly don't think BB is the best coffee shop to go to for best flavor, but it's the quickest and sometimes that's more valuable.
google avatar

Sweta K.

Yelp
Good coffee, fast service, comfortable setting! Parking I found to but a little tricky until I realized there was street parking available. The normal parking lot seems to fill up easily.

Jeffery M.

Yelp
On my commute from the hotel to the convention center, I wanted to experience small businesses that were native to the area. Buddy Brew was my breakfast spot for a great cup of coffee, beautiful faces and personalities, and a pastry or breakfast sandwich.
