Call it hyper fixation or addiction but I love the cheesesteak but they started skipping so I started ordering the extra half scoop, etc. the issue is consistency, if it is busy which it usually is, yay, they will forget to add your extra half scoop on your online order. You can easily tell a difference in the weight of the sandwich. The problem is that I don’t have time to wait for a remake when they mess up. Love that this place has great vegan food and that they are busy but they really need to get better at consistency on their online orders when they’re slammed. Maybe a bigger spot? More employees? Idk just wish my Sammy didn’t get in the cracks.

I’ve made the drive from Ogden to get Buds for years, and it’s always worth it. My all time favorite is the buffalo chickn, with pickles added. They have great lemonade as well! My husband, who is not vegan also loves the sandwiches, and says they are full of flavor, great quality, and the bread is to die for. Highly recommend buds for a quick lunch. With their online ordering it makes it super easy to go right to the pickup window to grab your food!

Meat eater here. Was downtown for something and thought I would try this place out for lunch. As I'm standing at the window to make my order and I'm looking at the menu, I'm thinking "what is V chicken?". I opened Google back up and read the reviews and discovered that this is a vegan place. Part of me wanted to leave and go try something else out but I didn't want them to think I was too uppity to give it a shot. That was a great decision! The reviews don't lie, the sandwich I got, the Italian cold cut, was pretty freaking amazing! Plenty of food, I thought the price was reasonable. It was a pretty hot day and there's not much shade except for the picnic tables with the awning over the top, but it was only a 15 minute wait and well worth it

I love their sandwiches!! So far best vegan sandwiches I've had as someone who isn't vegan!

This is my go to sandwich shop. Absolutely vegan and everything on the menu is amazing! My favorites are the Chimken (vegan) Caesar Salad wrap (can also get it with the sourdough bread and it's just as good), and the Italian. Best sandwich shop ever IMHO.

Wow, this place is amazing. You don't need to break the bank either. Full vegan menu and the sandwiches are incredible. Perfect amount of juiciness and flavor. My wife and I got the buffalo and pesto sandwiches. No indoor dining area. There is however some covered outdoor seating. Wait time was 15-20 minutes when we went there during the lunch rush.

I like meat and wanted to try something different and this place didn’t disappoint! Buffalo chicken and Italian sandwiches were super fresh and the bread was awesome. Staff was friendly and prices were the cherry on top!

As a vegan I was recommended to try the cheesesteak here. It was good, but it’s more of a healthier vibe. Nothing wrong with that - nice homemade cheese. But I’m more of a greasy oily food when I go out type of gal. If you lean on the healthier side when eating I think you’ll love it. I wish I tried the buffalo chicken sandwich instead…

What an amazing place I have one of each items and it was incredible. I wish I had a nearby. I would definitely try it more often. Also very affordable very friendly highly recommended.

Bud's is a SLC vegan fixture. It is a sandwich stand with limited outdoor seating on the curb in the sun. The food is good but Bud's falls flat on service. We had the Italian sub and the philly cheesesteak. The bread is fresh and so are the ingredients. But both would have been improved with mustard for the italian and ketchup for the philly. Bud's neither stocks nor distributes condiments of any kind. Bud's says "no ketchup for you". Bud's does not accept legal tender of any denomination, only electronic. Bud's will not do special orders. Bud's wants you to order online, pick up your food, then clear the F out directly. Bud's is a sandwich stand, not a restaurant. Manage your expectations. No recommendation decide for yourself.

Insane sandwiches you would never guess they were vegan! So filling and fresh i crave these sandwiches. Theres so much flavor and the bread is flakey and fluffy. The shop is a cute little window station with some outdoor seating available. Highly recommend checking them out!

I got a sandwich here this afternoon that I can't stop thinking about. I truly may go get it again tomorrow. I was sad to see that Buds changed out their menu a little bit ago and got rid of my go-to, their bahn mi, but was excited to get to try some other options on their menu. I'm a creature of habit and when I find one thing on a menu, it's often hard for me to stray away from it and try new things. Today I got "The Veggie" which comes with garlic mayo, sprouts, sliced provolone, cucumber, tomato, shredded lettuce, red wine vinaigrette on a toasted sourdough hoagie. It's a simple sandwich, but it packed so much deliciousness and freshness and flavor. It completely hit the spot today when I realized I hadn't had lunch yet and it was 3pm. The bread was perfectly equal parts crunchy (watch your mouth, it did cut up my mouth a little bit) and soft on the inside. The veggies were fresh and crunchy, the flavor and seasonings and mayo combined to make a deliciously fresh and tasty sandwich. Everything here is vegan and it's a walk up window teeny tiny little shop. You can order online or walk up to the window. I ordered at the window and my sandwich was ready in a matter of minutes. I found my new go-to even though I *should* try other things on their menu. Their pesto sub looks delicious, and they even have veggie cheesesteak, Italian cold cut, and BBQ sandwich with jackfruit - all 100% plant based.

1. Get a cookie. They're always worth it. 2. Everyone has their own favorite sandwich here so I recommend trying a few! I'm obsessed with the Philly cheesesteak here (as weird as it sounds it's so good!) My friends and I love Buds and will keep coming back for meetups. The outdoor seating is wonderful in the warmer months, but it makes it tough when the weather get's cooler but the sandwiches travel well! Staff is friendly, and there's always fun music while ordering. Overall - it's a great sandwich shop!

After taking our order we had to wait for one hour!!! They made sure all the online orders were taken care of and everyone that was there, 4-5 customers, had to wait to get their food. Several people were threatening to leave and wanting a refund. Will never go back and definitely would not recommend them and will pass it on to everyone.

I hadn't visited for quite awhile because their hours are so limited. Also, I live out of town and don't like eating in my car, but Bud's is take-out only. Finally got a chance to visit again the other day, and they still make a good sandwich, but it looks like they've gotten smaller ~ can't say for sure. The menu also seems to have fewer choices. Still, the next time the stars align I'll go again; the food is just that good.

I really enjoyed my sandwich at Buds! I was really hungry so I ate the entire thing and it was very big and very satisfying. They're very inexpensive and so so good! I got the veggie sandwhich and added the pesto chickn and got some potato chips to go with it, and BABYYYY it hit the spot! The veggies with the warm chicken and the mayo everything was soooo good. My mouth is watering thinking about it. I wish I could go back and have another one but I sadly don't live in Utah! Definitely give this place a try! 10/10

buds is always a go to when i want a sandwich. i loveee the cheesesteak, so of course, we had to get one. sometimes i feel like they underfill it, but today it was perfectly filled and there was the perfect seitan to cheese ratio. i branched out of my usual pesto sando and got the banh mi instead. it was good, but don't expect it to taste like an authentic banh mi-- the carrots and mayo resemble more of a coleslaw taste (which was still delicoous). i liked all the stuff in the chili, i just think the taste was on the more mild side. the pasta salad was good, i liked the bits of pastrami (?) and cheese. overall, it was a slay meal

There's no bathroom, there's limited seating and only unshaded outside, you'll probably wait at least half an hour for your sandwich BUT through it all is 100% worth it! Everything on the menu is delicious and creative: drinks, cookies and sandwiches. My picky-eater meat loving partner also loves it here. Just maybe go when the weather is nice and have some time on your hands. I do wish they had a better system for announcing when the food is ready, since there's not a great place to wait and they often whisper the names.

Got sick for two days. What a disgusting meal. Peppers and onions were off. Wouldn't go back ever. If you legitimately can't cook edible food than just give up already. Just another entirely forgettable SLC dogfood vendor.

After living nearly 2 years close to Buds and having not tried it out I finally did and now wonder to myself "what was I doing that whole time?!" Amazing amazing sandwiches made with care - the staff at the window are all so friendly. Admittedly I think some of my initial nervousness about trying Buds was the fact that it's 100% plant based but do not let that deter you!! I've had my share of pure veggie sandwiches and Buds' creations are top tier. If you aren't 100% on board with a pure veggie sandwich, I recommend the banh mi - if I didn't know that the meat was an alternative I wouldn't figure it out on my own. That being said the pure veggie sandwich is loaded with flavor and tastes great too! As inflation creeps up, Buds remains a great under $10 lunch option.

Amazing vegetarian sandwiches. You wouldnt know its not real meat. My favorite is the philly cheesesteak. They have limited hours so get in while you can. Plus i love that i can order online

Small place, Big flavor. Great all Plant Based (Vegan) sandwich shop. The Pesto and Buffalo were delicious and the chocolate chip cookies were perfect. Fresh chilled Vanilla Chai latte and Lavender Lemonade hit the spot. Very friendly service and excellent value. Just a heads up: there is no real seating (besides outside bench) at this time. Definitely worth finding: On the corner of 500E and 300S right next to The Wax Loft (look for Classic Cleaners on the corner). Enjoy the goodness!

Buds is so good! So happy to find an all-vegan sandwich shop! My favorite is definitely the Cheesesteak with pesto and the zucchini cookie which is made fresh daily. The first time we ordered from Buds, the bread was a bit too stiff but we ate the sandwich 30 minutes after receiving it. So the sandwich is best eaten immediately to keep the freshness of the bread. Due note, there is always a line and about a 20-30 minute wait outside with no dining space. The outside dining space is closed. Best to order ahead of time online so it's a quick pickup. Overall, love this place!

This place is downright addictive! We tried if once about a month ago and have been back several times since! The Buffalo chikun sandwich is amazing and the aioli is to die for. Even the baby can't get enough of it. Today, my 7 year old got the taco salad and said he'd definitely order it again. Thanks for the amazing food! The only thing I can ask is for an option in the online ordering for just bread, and to have it cut into strips. Just because we make a long drive to get there and usually picnic with the food so it makes it easier for feeding the baby. But that would be icing as your food is amazing.

this is a blink-and-you'll-miss-it type place that is literally the definition of a hole in the wall. for a vegan place the prices are insane and the flavors aren't far behind! I got the deli classic with dijon mustard and extra v-turkey and it was delicious. I took off a star because the outdoor seating was closed (and looks like according to the other reviews, it's been closed for quite a while) and because of the lack of "extra" in my order of extra v-turkey hahaha but I will definitely be back to try more of the menu :)

I was supper excited to try this all plant based sandwich shop! I ordered the pesto vegan chicken sub with alfalfa sprouts. The ordering process was really smooth. I ordered online and it was ready within 20 minutes. The sandwich tasted pretty good. Pesto was good but mild, the chicken was good but didn't have that incredibly "vegan" taste that some vegan meats have which is good! I didn't enjoy the sourdough bread tho. It was overly sour and overpowered the sandwich flavors and the texture was almost rubbery. It felt like I was chewing forever and the bread just wouldn't budge. They offer tortilla instead of bread so hopefully that should make it better! Overall a pretty good vegan sandwich shop and excited to try their other options!

Recently went plant-based (mostly). I was in town looking for a V or Ve restaurant and stumbled upon Buds. I had the pesto chicken sandwich which was absolutely amazing. I'm definitely going back the next time I'm in town and try some of their other sandwiches.

Pros: -very delicious sandwiches (I got the pesto chicken and tried my sister's buffalo chicken) -amazing zucchini chocolate chip cookies -everything on the menu is 100% plant based -reasonably priced Cons: -nowhere to sit down and eat (there was outdoor seating but it was closed for some reason) -the wait was quite long after ordering our food -the lavender lemonade was a little too sweet

Because the problem is no gluten free, not much gluten free items and I am wondering why not. about half of my family are gluten-free because of celiac disease and you can't do much about it but there are some restaurants in this town theater mostly gluten-free not even intentionally. Of course I know making sandwiches with the standard breads make it impossible, but it would certainly be possible to have some items.

The veggie sandwich is out of this world!! Way better than any other I've ever had. I'm not vegan but I get it once a week. Love this place!!

My sister and I decided to swing by here for dinner the other night. We were excited to find a restaurant with amazing vegan options. I got the pesto sub and she got the cheesesteak. We took a buffalo and a brownie to go as well. Everything tasted delicious. I like that they have outdoor seating. We had a little bit of trouble finding the place but besides that everything was great!

What hasn't already been said about Bud's delicious barbacoa burrito? Even for a carnivore like myself, it made a person who doesn't frequent vegan establishments go "Damn, what else have I been missing?" Chill sunny smiles at the order window here. Lavender lemonade for the win.

I've recently dipped my toe into a vegan lifestyle and had heard a lot about Bud's. While it was a bit out of the way for me, it was totally worth the drive! To begin with, the entire menu is vegan, so no need to ask about specific items/toppings. I'm not sure if the bread is baked in house, but it tasted super fresh and was delicious! It really made the sandwiches stand out in a good way. I really like all of the sandwiches I've tried. The deli sandwich is my favorite, with "turkey" and loads of vegetables. The philly is great too. Something I really like about Bud's is that the "meat" never has that gross tasting fake flavor. It just tastes like it's own thing, which is delicious. I do wish there was a location closer to me, but I will absolutely co to use to drive out of my way for Bud's vegan deliciousness. Highly recommended for vegans and non-vegans alike!

I've always been pretty disappointed in vegan food until I went here. Their sandwiches are great. The buffalo chicken and Philly cheese steak are the best.

We were so lucky to find this place in SLC, only wish we would have found it sooner so we could have tried more. This is such a cute little place with a 100% plant-based vegan menu. I got the Buffalo sandwich which was delicious. The bread was amazing (crisp on the outside and so fluffy on the inside) and made for the perfect vessel for the spicy "chicken", refreshing slaw and aioli. The husband had the cheesesteak which he loved. We both got a zucchini chocolate chip cookie, which were so good! Soft and chewy with big hunks of chocolate, a perfect mix of sweet and savory with a hint of warm spices (maybe cinnamon?). If we're ever back in SLC we will definitely stop here again.

I went to Bud's for lunch a few weeks ago finally. It had been on my list for a while after hearing good things about their barbacoa. I had no idea that there's no dine in before going there. It was a chilly day so we ended up eating in the car. The seating area outside looked nice, but it was also chained and locked closed. Maybe because of change in season, maybe because of Covid, but I'm not sure. I ordered the barbacoa burrito style. It lived up to its hype. Very yummy. It was super filling and I loved the flavors, including a ginger sour cream. I would definitely come back to Bud's again and recommend for a vegan restaurant.

This place fills a hole I didn't even know was in my life. Found it because my sister came in town and she's vegan, going back because it was one of the best sandwiches of my life. I can personally recommend both the Fresh Veggie and Mediterranean Veggie sandwiches but I also can't wait to be back and try their other menu items. I also love their lavender lemonade because it's not too strong and pairs great with the meal. Highly recommend making this place a regular place to visit!

Buds has great food! Took me a while to realize they don't serve meat . My gf loves the Buffalo chicken! The cheesesteak is phenomenal!

Excellent quality plant based sandwiches with delicious zucchini vegan chocolate chip cookies. My friend took me here and it's an easy 5 star for me. I can't wait to come back and try more of the sandwiches. I got the pesto and he got the buffalo and we split. Do that and ask them to split the sandwich for you. The fake chicken is amazing. The buffalo sauce is so freaking tasty and there's also a white sauce as well. Not sure what it was but I needed more of it. The bread is crispy and so soft and airy. GET A COOKIE. too good and so sweet, yet it doesn't make me feel fat and gross like most desserts.

Me and my husband's favorite place to go when visiting SLC. The service is always incredible and so are the sandwiches!!

Vegan sandwich shop in Salt Lake City! Food**** We decided to split the pesto sandwich and the classic deli sandwich with the Whole wheat bread options. These both were absolutely delicious - like if we lived here we would come here lunch all the time. We also got cold brew coffee which was a good size for the price. Service *** Service was good, only reason we took off was outdoor seating was closed so there was no where to eat the food and the microphone for the server was very garbled so at times hard to hear. Atmosphere ** Can't really comment because there was no where to sit Price $ Great price for the delicious food you get

Best sandwich I've had!! Just arrived SLC for the next chapter in life. Don't have all my belongings yet and decided to grab lunch here. Rad & super friendly people and great selection of sandwiches. I ordered the chicken pesto, added hummus per the guy taking my order and wow Can't wait to come back and try some of the other options that also sound bomb. If you haven't been here yet, you've been sleeping! LFG!!

Buds is THE vegan sandwich place that will cause you to stop making fun of vegans once and for all. I kind of went as a joke and now it is the one and only sub sandwich place that I regularly hit up in SLC. Personal favorite is the cheesesteak with extra cheese and jalapenos. I don't know what's in the cheese and I can only speculate...unicorn snot churned into supple yellowey-orangish glory? Maybe? Tasty AF whatever it is. Also the fake meat does not disappoint. As good or better than the real thing. Grow up, stop making fun of (most) vegans and try the sandwich already. I will say that the sandwiches aren't nearly as aesthetically pleasing as they appear on the website, but it's hard to care when you are giddily choking on mysterious vegan cheese. Pizzasteak, Pesto, Buffalo are also soo good. Honestly the only one I'm not super impressed with is the Deli Classic- it's just ok but not nearly as meaty as the others.

Yo! BUDS! Yes! Good job. Not just the best Vegan Sandwich in town but also I'd say a top 5 sandwich in general. Bread First: Super crispy on the outside, and then nice and supple on the inside. I don't know if they make this themselves or buy it but I would just be happy eating a loaf of it on it's own. Insides: Fresh, fresh, fresh ingredients. Both the Buffalo and the Barbacoa were light, crip, and so good. They really pack in the fillings too. No skimping here. I'm actually not sure that meat would have made it taste better, seriously. Price: $7 per sando give or take. No chips or anything but the thing was massive not sure you need anything else.

I really love this place! The fact it's a vegan sandwhich shop specializing in fake meat sandwiches... pretty awesome. I think they've done a great job for those vegetarians or vegans who miss cheesesteaks, barbacoa or chicken sandwiches. They also incorporate veggies with each sandwich and even in their cookies to highlight their love for veggies. The only heads up I will give is that the sandwiches are more so warm than hot... that threw me off the first time I had this place but besides that, their flavors are on point, everyone is super sweet and when it's not covid time - you can eat outside with some complimentary Valentino's hot sauce (aka the best)...

Oh my how long I have waited for a place like Buds in SLC! I am not vegan, but being dairy intolerant causes me to consume a fair amount of vegan products. So when I discovered this place just blocks from my work I was so so excited to try it, and was not ready for the sandwhich I had. It may sound dramatic but I wanted to eat that sandwich over and over again for days! I got the chicken pesto sandwich with aioli sauce and oh man it was perfect. The portion was a great size for me to eat for two meals which I always appreciate. They offer online ordering for pickup which was also awesome for me as I only have a 30 minute lunch break. The sandwich was ready on time when I arrived and the employees were friendly. What else could you ask for?

I'd heard good about Buds and being a vegetarian, vegan places are exciting for me. We ordered a Barbacoa Sandwich and a Cheese Steak, along with their zucchini choco chip cookie and their lavender lemonade. Honestly, I expected better given the hype. The flavors and textures weren't there for me in the sandwiches, a little bland for my taste. The cheese steak was better than barbacoa, you could definitely taste the smokiness. The cookie and the lemonade were delicious! (They run out of the lemonade at times but when you're there to pick up your order, you might find it available again - so do ask at the counter!) I wish they had more options for the sandwich bread. I felt it to be a little too dense and thick for my liking.
