These Are the Stalls Opening at East Atlanta’s Halidom Eatery - Eater Atlanta

"Husband-and-wife team James and Johanna Windon developed Buena Papa Fry Bar during lockdown in Raleigh, North Carolina, after substituting fries for rice while cooking. Buena Papa and their fry-based dishes have since appeared on Shark Tank and has locations in Raleigh, Durham, and Miami." - Sarra Sedghi

Buena Papa Fry Bar is an awesome experience that everyone should have once or several times a week lol! I was really skeptical at first. I stood back & watched the customers get googly-eyed at the mounds of deliciousness that goes into the large (shareable) and small size (you probably still won't be able to finish) fry concoction! I got full just looking at them prepare each customer's order. Fries are cut on the spot, dropped in the grease, seasoned in a bowl then HEAPED over into the container its served in. Then the toppings are piled on...choose 1 of the 8 options or however many you want. ABSOLUTELY MOUTH WATERING, MADE ME CALL MY FRIENDS & FAMILY TO GET THEM TO JOIN ME! Listen, don't take my word for it just go! You will NEVER regret it! I am here to tell you...GO!!!...NOW!!!!

Been hearing so much so we decided to try this place out. The menu can be overwhelming if it's your 1st time there. The fries are cooked to order so hot fries is definitely a plus for me. They ordered the #6 and the #8( the American) they both said it was ok but missing a sauce or gravy type. Not much options if you don't eat meat, although you can build your own. They do have a salmon option but it looked very dry and not appetizing at all.

The fries are very good. We did the Italian one and it was very tasty with all the seasonings and sauce but the meatballs were a little dry. It took a long time to order because there was only one worker but will try again in the future and another type!

I wasn’t expecting this. We went to the mall just to have options for everyone to eat what they wanted. I’ve never heard of this place but once we saw the menu options we all decided to eat here. 😳😳 this was so good!!! I has the Boricua and it was just Amazing!!! They don’t joke around. It was full of flavor and super loaded. Fries at the bottom and all the toppings to the top of the box.

This spot is in the food court at the streets at southpoint. They had different varieties in different sizes. It was 2 adults eating a small and we were stuffed! We got the american with real bacon, cheese, sour cream, and scallions. French fries on another level!!

First time here had never heard of or seen this place and decided to try it. They are a bit pricey in my opinion the fries were made to order so they were hot i did appreciate that. The steak was a bit salty I couldn’t eat too much of it, would I eat there again possibly. It wasn’t bad though and the blackberry juice was good.

If they made 2 changes, this place would be perfect! 1. They need plastic to go boxes! The cardboard is horrible because the oil from the fries/food seeps right through and all the condiments and toppings get so messy around the box. It’s a messy experience and hard to maneuver. 2. Y’all NEED to hire more people. It really shouldn’t take me 20 minutes to get my food with only 3 people in front of me. Poor guy was up there by himself, serving and checking people out! You’re doing a disservice to your workers and your customers. Sometimes I skip going here just because I know it’s going to take me ages to get my food, which is sad because it’s so tasty! The worker there was so kind and helpful, your staff is great at their jobs they just need better tools and help!

Overall good experience with a mix of pros and cons. As far as food court food goes, this is pretty solid. You get a lot for the price you pay. It’s really a good amount of food. The service was quick and friendly enough (we went during a weekday so that no doubt played into the ease of this experience). Flavor on both dishes we got was good to excellent. I ordered the Americano and the only issue with this is its far too salty. I honestly should have known considering the ingredients, but it was definitely excessive. Not terrible, actually still quite good, but not something to eat a lot of. My partner got the Griego and that one was much tastier due to the other ingredients countering the salt of the fries. If we go back I’d order that dish.

Yelp
Delicious food but my main issue was the girl at the cash register! Girl wearing the hijab had earbuds in, not Airpods but wired earbuds in both ears and made it very obvious she did not wanna hear you. My brother's card didn't go through the first time and when he asked her what happened, she didn't even look up. This should not be allowed at any sort of establishment especially when you are tending to the customer. Usually my visits here are wonderful so hopefully next time I get an attentive cashier.

Yelp
This place is permanently closed! The store front at the food court is covered. It looks like it has been closed for awhile.

Yelp
Unexpectedly crafted. I ain't hard to please. Throw some cheese and meat on french fries and I'll eat it, but I wasn't expecting to actually appreciate the toppings, seasoning and artfulness of these dishes. We tried the El Borquia and El Americano. They were quickly and thoughtfully prepared by friendly staff and it was a ridiculous amount of fries. Next trip, we'll try El Italiano and El Carolina. All that said, it's still fast food, so don't expect gourmet dining and you'll enjoy a satisfying cheat meal. My suggestions to improve the menu would be to add a chili cheese fry (why doesn't this exist already) and a build your own option.

Yelp
This place was a pleasant surprise. Recommend as a great new french fry place and it didn't disappoint. All the dishes are based on different countries with french fries as the base and a good helping of toppings. You can think of it as a Chipotle bowl with french fries. My meal with very filling and very good. You can literally see the cutting the potatoes in the back before dropping your order in the grease. I will return here again but make sure you are done shopping if you plan to finish the whole bowl, def will need a nap.

Yelp
FYI this place is in the mall food court. Fries are cooked to order and are fresh and hot. It is a lot of food and can be shared. Tastes good and added items taste good as well yet at the end of the day don't look very fresh. Service is a little short and semi rude when you ask for additional items or altered items to the set items on the dish. I ordered the number 6 el griego. Tasted pretty good and I loved the flag detail for every order.

Yelp
I've visited the Raleigh location (in a food hall) and attended the grand opening of the Durham location (in a food court) and it's easily one of my favorite places to eat. There are various signature fry combo or you can create your own. The fruit juices are delicious as well. The portions are shareable or you can save some for later. I've had a build your own salmon combo and the Greek combo.

Yelp
9.28.22 - approx 6pm (pics incl) I have been wanting to try Buena Papa since they first opened at the Food Hall in Raleigh. When we were at Streets of SouthPoint today I was so excited to see they were here (food court). We were checking out the menu and all the toppings. Well that was a bad, yet very good, idea! I'm so happy I didn't order in advance (app) sight unseen. The refried beans were so dried out they looked like sand. The cheese had this horrible film and was burnt and stuck to the side. I believe another sauce was supposed to be pomodoro Italian sauce but was dark brick red not a beautiful bright tomato red. The guacamole had a brown edge around the entire pan with a small amount of green in the middle. There was also a mystery meat which I think was supposed to be smoked salmon but actually appeared to be dried/dehydrated chicken. It was prime dinner time and not a single (steam) pan looked appetizing. None of it looked like it had been rotated all day or so much as stirred in hours. We skipped the possible food poisoning and opted for something....anything...else!

Yelp
A lot of things to consider here for the price I would have expected the smoked salmon cut and not just a slab of fish added to the top of some regular French fries ( not sweet potato) . The condiments I may say were not mixed, so you end up eating sauce with salmon on top of fries. I can honestly say I will probably not come to this "Buena papa " again

Yelp
The place was very unique, it's not everyday you just find a fast-food dining for fries. The staff were very nice and kind, we ordered the El Americano and Mexicano. Both were very gigantic servings, I mean im not one to eat a lot so I left basically a lot off my food to the side. I also enjoy how you can customize your fries if you don't like any of the original items in the menu! I would just say how the ingredients are very nicely mixed, some don't have to little of something or too much of something as well. It's the best ratio of condiments in my opinion, since sometimes fries can have a bit too much of an ingredient and just overpower everything else. But no this was PERFECT!

Yelp
This place is so unique but so good. The customer service was great. I got the El healthy . I can't wait to try the other options

Yelp
Went there and spent $14 on fries which is fine for fresh ingredients, however asked for a cup of water and was charged $1.00. Was told it was because they had to pay the water bill. Went there to support and left feeling cheated. The fries were good btw.

Yelp
Have to say possibly the most overrated and ridiculously expensive basket of fries i've ever had. I don't know what they are trying for but the food is cheap and hastily put together, and Really doesnt offer anything worth near what they charge. I can't say anything about the service because it was really like visiting any food court, but I can say that the quality of the ingredients is abysmal. if I want fries I'm going to go somewhere else that's for sure.

Yelp
The food was excellent and Travis the cook was great person to talk and should be the manager. The actual manager was just on his phone didn't even make my drink, he was the worst manager I've ever seen. I wont be return if he's present, because that's just unacceptable as employee. Travis was excellent thanks bro !
