Five stars all around. Best tour, best everything. Get your tickets online ahead of time as this was the one tour that was hard to book. Every part of the tour was excellent, the check in process was a breeze, tastings in the shop area outside of the tasting with the tour part, and tour was excellent. Tour guide Jeremey was the best tour guide I had out of all the distillery tours. He made the experience fun! You walk around a bit but there’s so much to see that you don’t even notice. There’s so much to see and so much history that you are entertained the whole time. We got to see some bottling, some barrels rolling, some storage and some tasting. Wish the tasting was a sit down situation. The shop had so many things to buy and a good selection of bottles to buy. Overall, the best experience I could have asked for and exceeded all my expectations.

Google
By far one of the best tours on the Bourbon Trail! We were there for a barrel pick so we got a bit more than the regular tour. Our guide was amazing, we saw so much in 2 hours. The gift shop had a lot of great items and even some quality bourbon that you can't find in the store (changes daily).

Jon Ross

Google
Don't get me wrong I had a great time. Guide brought us to the product shop where they make custom barrel tops that can be shipped for $200. Seemed kinda cheesy. Additionally there was so many things we didn't see on our tour that was kinda weird. Bizarre he didn't touch on their Pappy line or the history. There is one more tour that is longer than the one we had, so maybe they cover it on that one?

Google
the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort Kentucky. In 2024 I visited the distillery on my four-week tour of the USA. Everything looked very impressive outside the gates. Parking spaces are free on site. We were here on a Monday around 2:00 p.m. There were a few visitors here, but everything was still very clear. The only time we had to wait was in the souvenir shop at the checkout. But this was also because only one cash register was open. The distillery itself is very old and very nice to look at. After ID checks, we received a wristband to allow us to take part in a whiskey tasting. The distillery grounds can be visited free of charge. A tour costs around $30-40. We were a little pressed for time, so we took a look at it here. A smoky distillery scent flies over the entire area, which makes your head a bit dense, but is very pleasant to endure. The old site itself is very impressive. The entire factory is surrounded by old halls and buildings. The souvenir shop really has it in sight but unfortunately so do the prices. The whiskey tasting was also great at 26°, it was a wonderful experience to be here. A visit. I can really only recommend this.

Google
Asked the tour guide about cooperage tours and was taken to the woodworking shop in warehouse Jay on site. Here they take old wood from the buildings and barrels and repurpose them into gorgeous items. This was actually the highlight of our tour on site and I think it’s a wonderful addition to the on site experience

Google
Schedule tour well in advance! If you can get ANY of the tours here, they are great and worth the time! You have to be online when the date block opens to get a spot. The rich history of the place is really cool and seeing the processes behind the scenes give you an appreciation for the bourbon. The complimentary tasting is a fun and informative experience also. Highly recommend. We did 2 different tours on different days and they were both great and the guides were very knowledgeable.

A large group of us (co-workers) came here since we were in Lexington for work and the experience was great! Lee Ann was our hostess/tour guide/Brainy Burbon Babe…. She knew an incredible amount about everything to do with this place, which we found fun and educational! The entire facility is amazing and learning about it through the tour is awesome! I’m not much into bourbon, but I thoroughly enjoyed this visit and I’d return!

Google
What else can you say besides amazing! Buffalo Trace is the pinnacle of what makes bourbon, bourbon. JD our tour guide was awesome. We chose the Old Taylor tour, which was great. Ending with a tasting and some great goodies from the gift store. Would 100% recommend.

Yelp
My 1st Bourbon trail distillery tour was an insightful, top-rated, FREE and fun event with tasting at BT on a property of over 400 acres. Importantly, we arrived early (at opening) to get a chance to purchase their "daily" (rotating) offering; today was a bonus as we were allowed 2 bottles/pp (1 Eagle Rare 10yr and 1 Wellers Special Reserve). I suggest pre-booking (in advance of your trip) your tour 1-2 hrs after opening time so you can purchase any daily specials or gift shop souvenirs; and remember your ID to get a wristband. Also, a shout-out and kudos to our awesome guide, Annie, who made the experience 5-Star rated - great job "Pappy"! Our tour of the oldest continuous distillery campus gave us knowledge of the bourbon making process, understanding the "Mash Bill" (recipe) variations, their Brands, and a visit to the coveted Blantons building where production is 1 barrel at a time. Our tasting today included their Wheatley Vodka (distilled 10x), original Buffalo Trace Bourbon Whiskey, Wellers Special Wheated Bourbon and Sazerac Rye Whiskey. What a treat, even if you're not a Bourbon aficionado! BT is now nearing their 9 millionth total barrel production since Prohibition, proud of their long history and expanding their biz with many Brands and new products to sample (and buy). If this is your 1st visit to Louisville area and Bourbon Trail, don't miss BT as I believe it's the ONLY Free tour in the area (although i'm sure they cash it in from all the gift shop purchases). Cheers, have fun and ENJOY!!!

Yelp
This review is for the gift shop. First, they will not let you buy anything unless they harvest all your personal data - including date of birth - I refused. Second - they do not carry any of the special release products, except one each day. Third - the prices are actually higher than in Ohio.

Yelp
I can't believe this place offers free, thorough tours! We enjoyed every minute. If you're in the area, highly recommend completing one of their tours. These events are quickly sold out so act fast. We completed the Trace Tour which lasted over an hour. We reviewed the history of Buffalo trace, key areas along the campus, and had a tasting session. Our guide was Jackson - he was absolutely amazing! We can't wait to complete another tour soon!

Yelp
This was our 3rd and last visit of our Louisville trip, today, and the tour was a lot of fun. I went with two friends and my husband - one of the friends booked the tour and it's FREE but sells out quickly, FYI, so she jumped on tickets as soon as they opened. The tour gives you a pretty good overview of the company and its founders, and it concludes with a tasting, including some Bourbon Cream (yum!), root beer, and a chocolate bourbon truffle. The gift shop is not to be missed also - my husband and our friends were raving about the good prices (they were the actual retail price and not marked up). There's also everything from bourbon chocolates, to root beer, to Christmas ornaments - I purchased a few pins for my collection and a magnet. Overall, highly recommend this distillery for a tour and apparently there were a few different tours you can choose from, too.

Yelp
Another day of being a tourist in my home state. By a stroke of luck, I managed to score last minute tickets for a Saturday Trace Tour. These trips are sold out months in advance, especially on weekends, so I was excited for the opportunity. First, these tours are completely free of charge. You can't get much for free these days, and to be able to tour the beautiful distillery at no cost is an absolute treat. There are several tours offered and I took part in the Trace Tour. This tour consists of a history lesson, a tour of several different areas and a tasting at the end. I'm not a huge bourbon fan overall, however, I found the tour to be fascinating. Learning about the process was just so interesting. The tour also engages all of your senses, you will touch, smell and taste. Our tour guide Michael did a wonderful job. He knew his stuff and was very engaging with our group. At the end of the tour we did a tasting and then went to the gift shop to browse the retail products available for sale. They have an array of merchandise from branded clothing, drink ware, candles, pet accessories, candles, bourbon balls and of course spirits and mixers. I'm sure that retails sales allow them to keep offering tours free of charge. Even if you aren't a bourbon drinker, I highly recommend the tour. I think you will enjoy it and learn something along the way.

Yelp
If you're lucky enough to get tickets for the tour - you will absolutely love the tour! The place is steeped in such history. The grounds of the place is so old, the mold of the "Angels Share" is present on the buildings and trees. Tour guide was highly knowledgeable on the subject of bourbon and its production. And the bonus at the end of tour - you'll get a crack at buying a top shelf bourbon brand!

Yelp
Buffalo Trace is the only Distillery on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail to offer a free tour and tasting. Spot fill up quick when dates are released 69 days out so I highly recommend being prepared. Additionally, the gift shop rotates the special release bottles being offered for purchase. One is allowed (1) of each varietal, per person, per 90 days to buy. We scheduled the standard Buffalo Trace tour after the Hard Hat tour booked up. This tour went over a brief background of the founders, barreling process, storing process, and tour of the grounds. It's a tour built for a beginner to the bourbon/whiskey world. Each tour ends with a tasting of the special spirit for purchase as well as some classic varietals. I loved that they mixed in some liquors and local chocolate collaborations with the other classics. Their gift shop had plenty of merch for the general brand as well as label specific selections. Buffalo Trace is a Kentucky staple and was worth visiting. Even if one cannot book a tour, I recommend coming to check out the gift shop and do a self-guided walk!

Yelp
Hard to add to all the great reviews. First impression--very cool old buildings and atmosphere. Lovely buffalo statue with water fixture along with nice plantings in old barrels. Welcoming staff everywhere. I couldn't secure tour tickets before we went to the distillery. Went to the Welcome Center, got "carded" with appropriate wrist bands, and were able to get into a tour. Folks in our tour also did not have reservations and they too were able to get in on a tour. My advice, even if you can't get advance reservations, go to the distillery anyway. It would appear that they must leave some open spots for walk-ins. Even if you can't get a tour there are lots of very interesting buildings and a large gift shop where you might be able to purchase a hard to get bottle like Blanton's (not available for purchase when we went, but we saw it being bottled.) Our tour guide, Kelly, was a delight! Full of information and fun antidotes. She let you in on all the history and how everything is made. There are several different tours. I am sure all end with tastings, as did ours, and the tour is free. FYI--We have two more tours planned at two other distilleries and they are not free. Ample parking on a Holiday Monday, but no food available after October. It seemed like only a summer/Fall-like sandwich shop operation at the old Fire Shed near the now non-functioning water tower. I saw only one restaurant located nearby and it was closed. I'm not sure if it's open only for dinner. It's best to eat before or after you go. We had a real nice time. We were very glad we dropped in.

Yelp
Disclosure: This rating is not indicative of the full distillery experience. I had a very brief amount of time to stop in, check out the gift shop, and hit the road. I will definitely be coming back to spend at least half a day here and do tours/tastings/etc. Love how this place was laid out. There's a nice entrance road with fencing on either side. A quick right and you come down to the main parking lot, which was huge. And mid weekday, it wasn't quite half full thankfully. Being able to pop out and hit the visitor's center gave me a chance to get a lay of the land and show them my ID so I could get a wrist band (keeps you from getting carded at checkout assuming you're buying booze). Stopped over at the gift shop and was able to acquire a single oak project 375 ml bottle as well as some Eagle Rare poker chips and an EH Taylor sticker. It was a bit of a whirlwind, but thoroughly enjoyable being able to smell the mash, get a few souvenirs, and take in the sights.

Yelp
Very big line for the gift shop but it moved quickly, and I was impressed that not everything was super expensive. Eagle Rare and Blantons were the drops. A must stop on the bourbon trail.

Yelp
As you step out in the parking lot of Buffalo Trace Distillery, you'll enjoy the sweet smell of the fermentation. We have come here once before just to stop by the visitor center to pick up the 'John Wick' version of the Blanton. Upon going in you need to get a wristband. What is nice is that they will offer up free tastings. If you venture up the stairs be a little bit careful because the steps are a little bit sunken in, there's a newer 'higher end' small section with memorabilia and goods. The first floor has a wide variety of Buffalo Trace products including everything from stuffed animals, shirts, glasses, and of course all the varieties of their alcohol products. Service is always very friendly there and there's a ton of staff. I have heard great reviews of their tours and we do hope to enjoy one, one of these days - but you do have to reserve well in advance.

Yelp
Buffalo Trace has the system down- they make amazing products, have top tier teams for tours, and go above and beyond to help your experience. Since they are so popular you will feel the Fomo of not being able to get all of their stuff. I know I feel that as the day I arrived was not the allocation I was hoping to get and also because of all their specialty product that will never hit the gift shop. That said their basics are excellent! Add this to your list next time you head to bardstown.

Yelp
This is by far our favorite distillery to visit when in town. We brought our two boys (4 + 8) on the tour and they enjoyed it as well. Our tour guide was fantastic and we always enjoy the tastings! This time we weren't able to go to the park but we will definitely visit again and enjoy that part too!!

Yelp
Buffalo Trace has beautiful grounds! I tried to book online but was booked. I got an email a few days later saying no cancelations. However, after reading it, it was suggested to just go and see. Luckily, we got to do the Taylor Tour. It was very informative on the history of the Buffalo trace. Without a tour, you can still go up and tasting and just walk the grounds. We saw quite a few people doing this. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and fun. It was hot, and she kept us moving along the way. The tasting was a lot of fun. We got to try several products like Weller Green Label, Buffalo Trace, Wheatley vodka, which was smooth, and a few others. After the tour, we entered the gift shop. We were offered a sample of the Travelers product and some ginger ale. Freddie's ginger ale was really good. Travelers is a bit on the mellow side. Tour was free. Parking was free. Buffalo trace experience priceless. Definitely stop if in the area.

Yelp
We were in town & decided to make a quick stop at Buffalo Trace to see if we could grab a bottle of Blanton's (we saw someone post on Facebook that they were selling Blanton's that day). We arrived at Buffalo Trace around 3:00pm on a Saturday. We were greeted at the parking lot entrance by two employees who told us to check in at the building with the buffalo after we parked. We had to stand in a short line in the check-in building. A staff member asked if we were doing any tours but we said no we were just going to check out the gift shop. She scanned our IDs & gave us wrist bands. We walked into the gift shop & there were lots of Blanton's still available. We each grabbed one. We walked around the store & grabbed a couple more items then headed to checkout. A staff member scanned our wrist bands & proceeded to ring up our items. As we were leaving the gift shop area we saw a sign that said "complementary tastings, 2nd floor." We took the stairs up. Another staff member scanned our wrist bands & we waited in a small line for about 5 minutes. The staff member who ran our tasting was great! He was funny & informative. We were able to taste: Wheatley vodka, Buffalo Trace, Blanton's, Sazerac Rye, Bourbon Cream, Freddie's Root Beer, AND a chocolate covered bourbon ball. Before we headed out I stopped at the women's restroom on the 2nd floor. It was very clean. As we were walking to the parking lot to leave we were thanked by another staff member for stopping by. Overall it was a great, quick experience! Every staff we interacted with was friendly. Some buildings were decorated with American Flags for the 4th of July & the flower arrangements were beautiful.

Yelp
If you've driven to KY and haven't been here what are you waiting for? This place is rich in history and so much to learn about trees, prohibition, and libation. Even if you're not a bourbon drinker there's something here for everyone! Free tour and tasting and you can pay for the extra VIP tours if you want to get detailed. I stop here for their exclusive and unique bourbon ? Not that I'm a drinker but it's For souvenir, for gifts, for the history, and unique items they offer that you cannot purchase elsewhere that easily. They have limited purchase per person per 90 days and rotate their bottles in parts of the year. Just look at their menu/shop and stop By to check it out for yourself.

Yelp
Buffalo Trace is one of our favorite distilleries and tours. It's hard to get a reservation for the tours. They open the reservations 2 months before the date you want to visit. I was on a waitlist and got in the 1st time, the 2nd time I was on the waitlist and didn't get in and this year I got in right off the bat. Third time's a charm. Buffalo Trace releases one of their top bourbons every day. The lines are long to get in the gift shop to purchase but BT is a well-oiled machine, and it goes smoothly from checkin to purchase. You can purchase a release every 90 days, and you're allowed only 1 bottle per person. The daily release changes daily. After we shopped, we went on the Trace Tour. Buffalo Trace doesn't charge for their tours. Our tour guide was Mark and he was great. On out tour, we were lucky to see the bourbon dumped and then bottled and labeled. Mark conducted a great tasting at the end of the tour. He was friendly and spent time with us answering all our questions. We bought Blanton's (the daily release) on our tour day and then came back the next morning just to purchase the daily release which was Eagle Rare 10yr. Make sure you don't miss this distillery.

Yelp
I didn't get to visit Buffalo Trace during my first trip to Louisville, but I made sure to include it in my itinerary this time around. I booked the distillery tour as soon as the reservation window opened and secured the date and time I wanted. Reservations filled up within minutes, so it's essential to act fast. We got an 11:00 am tour on a Friday, which was perfect timing to visit the gift shop 15-30 minutes before it opens and browse around until the time of the tour. If you have a tour at 10:00 am, they will expedite you through the line so you can get into the shop quicker. If you're unable to secure a tour in advance, it's possible to get one on the day of your visit. I went on a Sunday in the morning when they opened, and the check-in counter asked if I was interested in a tour that same day. The tour is absolutely worth it--it's free and includes a tasting. Each morning around 8:00 am, we checked online on their website which bottles were available to see if we should head out to the distillery. We visited three times during our trip to get Blanton's, E.H. Taylor, and Weller's. Each day, we arrived 15-30 minutes before the shop opened, and while the lines were a bit long, the wait wasn't too bad. The longest I waited was about 30 minutes on the busiest day. On two out of the three days, we stayed until 1:00 pm, and there were still plenty of Blanton's and E.H. Taylor bottles available. Overall a great experience and highly recommended.

Yelp
While we were in Kentucky, we had to make the pilgrimage out to Buffalo Trace Distillery to tour the grounds and buy some liquid gold. The distillery is a large property and right when you step onto it, you're greeted with amazing smells of sourdough and other grains in the air. I wish I could've bottled that aroma up and take it home. We were lucky to get a walk-in tour without a reservation. The tour we did was the Old Taylor tour which was a deep dive into the history of the distillery and Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr. We had the opportunity to enter a rickhouse and other working warehouses. It was super neat to be up close to all of the machinery that produces some of the best bourbon in the world! At the end of the tour, we tasted a good sampling of Sazerac's products. The store was also a highlight and offered a bunch of great items. They have a daily release of some of their limited releases such as E.H. Taylor Small Batch, Blanton's, etc. I was sad to miss their release of Single Oak Project which they released while we were in Kentucky but just happened to be busy that day (only released twice a month). They update this release every morning on their website. The tasting tour of the Buffalo Trace property was super great and even better that Sazerac was generous enough to offer it complimentary. Special shout out to Denny for being an awesome docent for our tour!

Yelp
Such a cool place!!! Such a wonderful place to stop in and check out all the grounds and all they have to offer! Tastings are awesome and the gift shop is out of this world! It's a must see if you're in the area!

Yelp
I'll say this from the onset: I am NOT a big bourbon drinker. This is followed by a big BUT... My son took me to the Buffalo Trace Distillery. What a HUGE operation! The grounds are massive and worth a visit even if you don't go inside! The gift shop was also very large and full of great merchandise to compliment their selection of alcohol. We went upstairs for the tasting and got a big surprise. The tasting bar was full of people, so on of the hosts took us to a small bar and gave us a private tasting! We were there on the day that the tasting started with Wheatley Century Vodka. Incredible! Distilled 100 times, it tastes like nothing I've ever had with the vodka name on it. If I had been blindfolded, I never would have guessed it was a vodka. The tasting progressed to Buffalo Trace Bourbon, Eagle Rare Bourbon, E.H. Taylor Bourbon, and Sazerac Rye Whiskey. It concluded with a tasting of Bourbon Cream ( a liqueur made from Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon and cream) and a tasting of Freedie's Root Beer. Our host had us save half of each of these and then pour them together, resulting in a drink that tasted like a root beer float! What an enjoyable visit! The folks in the gift shop and in the tasting room were all exceptionally friendly and ready to answer any questions. If you're in the area, you need to stop by!

Yelp
Absolutely amazing distillery!! They are a huge facility that's only getting bigger. They offer free tours and have multiple tour options. The Taylor Tour allows you to see bourbon Pompeii!! You get to see the process that goes into creating some of the worlds best bourbon!! A must for all Bourbon lovers!!

Yelp
We visited Buffalo Trace and arrived shortly before they opened to find a long line of patrons! Which we were told is a normal thing there. I'm guessing since it's all free, even the tours, which typically fill up months in advance. Upon entering we were asked if we had a tour and offered an open spot, which was amazing since my husband had wanted to do that. We were not disappointed. Devin was our guide, he was very knowledgeable. The old warehouses and buildings are amazing, there is a lot of rich history. Luckily we got a bottle of Blantons as that was the special release of the day. We needed up going back the next day to get a bottle of their Eagle Reserve. We had a great visit! We caught three distillery tours while we were in town, I thought I would be bored by the third since my husband is the bourbon guy, but each one was unique and fascinating.

Yelp
When planning a trip to Kentucky, many recommendations pointed to going to Buffalo Trace. I am glad this was an early distillery during this trip because it had the best tasting, one full of good bourbon and history. When you finish your tasting or tour, go to the gift store downstairs and buy away, there is plenty to choose from.
google avatar

Erin M.

Yelp
One of the best tours we had in Ky. David N was an amazing tour guide as well for the Trace tour we had. The majority of the tours are free so book it, take the drive down here, and get here early. They do a release of a rotating bourbon in the gift shop and majority of the time if you aren't there early you snooze you lose. Their website will have what is on the rotation for that day. When we arrived early for our tour we were able to snag a couple of bottles and then store them in the car to get ready for the tour. You will get to see the day to day operations as this is a real moving process plant for the products. There is also a tasting at the end. I am not a bourbon fan but I truly enjoyed this tour and surprisingly the tasting.

Yelp
Haven't been to Buffalo Trace in several years. Took the free hour-long Trace Tour. Busy, busy day. Whitney hosted a great tour. Good bit of walking. A tasting and a Bourbon Ball after the tour, as always. Not a Bourbon drinker, but the Bourbon Creme is good in coffee or on ice cream. Not a soda drinker, but Freddie Johnson's Root Beer is pretty tasty and made from all natural ingredients. The gift shop is overwhelming, if you're in the market for all things Buffalo Trace. A nice afternoon jaunt. 48

Yelp
Great tour! It's a little different then average touring which you get a more intimate look at the inner workings of the Distillery. However, the rich history of Buffalo Trace will keep you entertained. Our tour guide, Annie, did a great job of explaining every bit of the area we toured. There were a couple things that stood out. The biggest: "Medicinal Whiskey"! That's how BT stayed in full production during prohibition. Lots of rich history and great smells as you walk through the storage areas. Definitely recommend the tour: it's free!

Yelp
Buffalo Trace is one of our most favorite stops. Tours are fantastic, staff is friendly and helpful, tastings are fabulous, and products are all great.
google avatar

Yelp
Buffalo Trace was great in its history and grand campus. I was unable to join a walking tour of the campus but we were able to join a free bourbon tasting. We went during a warm February day and found that there is also a venue for weddings. There's a big store for the Buffalo Trace bourbon that also sold a lot of branded items.

Yelp
So cool to finally be able to get here. They were very accommodating for our motorcycle association. Got to try some Traveller whiskey and got a bottle of Blanton's. They even offer a military discount at the store. Overall great experience and I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Claims to be the oldest continuously operating distillery in United States, this place is a national historic landmark. Enjoyed Old Taylor Tour which goes over bourbon history alongside E.H. Taylor Jr., the man who revolutionized the industry. From the Old Taylor House; to the OFC Building and OFC Fermenter #7, nicknamed "Old Taylor"; and finally to Warehouse C. Sazarac had build an amazing portfolio which included Taylor, Stagg, Weller, Pappy, Blanton & Elmer. All tours are complimentary and include a tasting but reservations are required. Plan ahead!

Yelp
Had an amazing experience today on the Trace Tour with our guide Fred! He was amazing! Witty, filled with facts and a great host!

Yelp
Badass is just one of the terms you'll use when visiting Buffalo Trace while on the whiskey trail in Kentucky. If you're hoping to snag a bottle of EH Taylor, Blantons, Weller SR, or Eagle Rare make sure you get there sooner than later as some days draw crowds. Free tours (you need to reserve them online) and free tastings are a great way to enjoy the property. Learn of their rich history and make sure to stop in the gift shop for bottles and all your gift needs.
google avatar

Julian D.

Yelp
I finally got my hands on some E.H. Taylor during my visit. The complimentary tasting of their products was cool and the gift shop had any and everything you could imagine. Service was good and all the staff were very pleasant. I didn't do a tour so I can't speak to that but, everything else was cool.

Yelp
IMHO the BEST bourbon tour in KY. For two simple reasons, it's (1) free and (2) it's dog friendly. We weren't able to get a reservation for a free tour, but after waiting in line and walking up, they were still able to fit us in the same day, heroes all around. The grounds are beautiful, the tour was informative without being too long and generous with the tasting at the end. If you're in the area to do the bourbon trail, absolutely make this a stop, it's an icon.

Yelp
Set up an Old Taylor's tour from my husband's 42nd birthday. The tour was amazing! The grounds are beautiful! There's so much history and bourbon making in that land. Also the tickets were complementary. Definitely worth the visit!

Yelp
2nd time here and same thought as before, it was as good as the first time. Now I understand why the tour company talked it down and discouraged us from coming here, this place is amazing and it FREE!! That's right free for the tastings, free tours so the tour companies don't make any money from these guys. And that is why I'm giving my tour company a bad but true rating (Mint Julep). Here there's a bourbon of the day. You're going to spend some money here but you're going to love it. Because this place embodies history and heritage. In my opinion the best line of bourbon anywhere and great people

Yelp
We did the regular trace tour on Monday. It was very cold, but our tour guide kept us moving and tried to do as much inside as possible. Rick was personable and knowledgeable. It is neat that every tour guide at Buffalo Trace has their own story or schtick, so even doing the tour more than once, you get a different experience. This time we got to go into one of the rick houses I had never been in before. The tasting was good as well. We were lucky enough to get a couple of the Single Oak Project bottles from the gift shop as well. Highly recommend this tour.

Yelp
Came here for my husbands 40th birthday- was a great experience- and the tastings were delicious especially the cream liquor with root beer- tasted like a root beer float- that could get you in trouble! The grounds are amazing. My one FYI is- don't take an uber there- you won't be able to get a ride back- we eventually had to just call a cab/car service which cost us $100 to get back to Lexington.

Yelp
Terrific tour! Really appreciated the fact that it was free! Freddie did a fantastic job as he did the tour. We are much the wiser with our bourbon and distillery knowledge! Did not realize the scale of Buffalo Trace and their business.

Yelp
We were honored to be invited for a special event here and cannot say how glad I was to attend. The whiskey tasting session was interesting and enjoyed hearing about the history. So much was going on here due to the holidays, the lights were beautiful. I'm not a big whiskey drinker but would still recommend everyone check out this distillery. What really stood out for me was how very friendly all your employees were. I could tell they were happy to be there and took pride in their work

Yelp
Free whiskey tastings, they have tours, but didn't go on one. They have a huge gift shop. You can find something for anyone.

Yelp
Five starts not only because they have excellent bourbon at fair price points, but they are also dog friendly!!! We loved getting to bring our Hank with us on our (free!) tasting, and shopping in the gift shop.

Yelp
Great free tasting and best options in the store, they are masters at marketing and telling a good Kentucky story. Definitely worth the visit!!!

Yelp
What a great couple days spent at Buffalo Trace....we especially loved our Hard Hat Tour with Laurie, she was a wealth of knowledge and had a great sense of humor. We loved meeting Derrick in the reclaimed wood workshop, he was definitely in his Santa element, with no Grinch in site and created some amazing wood pieces

Yelp
One of my favorite distilleries to visit with out of town guests. Buffalo Trace is easy to drive to from Louisville. Their tours are always complimentary... due to that they sell out quickly. If you're planning a visit familiarize yourself with the online booking via the Buffalo Trace website. Over the years I have done all the tours. I still enjoy visiting as I pick up a new fun fact from every tour guide. Staff are always friendly & welcoming. Buffalo Trace has staff situated all over the property to assist with navigating staff. Definitely do not leave without a box of bourbon chocolates ... Buffalo Trace has the best!

Yelp
Tasting appointments are available 8 weeks ahead of time and they get fully booked quickly! On the day of your visit, check what they are selling for the day. When you arrive, line up, get a wristband, and head to the gift shop because their stock sells out! Special bottles are limited to 1 purchase per person. You can get merchandise and items to supplement your bar. Also base prices for bourbon! They've got a large parking lot and a staff that knows how to handle large groups.

Yelp
Terrific tour. Really got a very in-depth explanation of the Bourbon production process. Our guide was very impressive. We really liked the "oldness" of the facility. Had an historic feel throughout. Sampling was fun and the gift shop was extensive. Highly recommend this experience.
