8 Newest Restaurants to Check Out in Savannah, Georgia - Eater Carolinas

"Buffalos, the sophisticated staple of Palmetto Bluff’s Wilson Village, is back with interior and edible upgrades. Long loved for its idyllic corner location on the May River with views of the May River Chapel and the Wilson mansion ruins, the restaurant’s impressive renovation is the first of many planned upgrades in the Bluff. Enjoy a delightfully slow dinner of local greens and international standouts such as red snapper al pastor and braised lamb campanelle. For those who like their cocktails to also be theater, the Dreamer comes to the table with a glittery opaque bubble on top." - Kiki Dy

So good!! The food here is really excellent. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice. The outside would be especially nice in the fall or spring when the weather is cooler. (the church directly across the street is beautiful). My family and I came here twice on our vacation to Palmetto Bluff, once for lunch and once for dinner. Both times the food was excellent. My only complaint is that the menu was basically the same. (I would've hoped for some different dishes since many people dine here multiple times throughout their stay because there are very limited options on Palmetto Bluff itself). The staff were generally friendly and attentive to my large party. I would certainly come back here and recommend it to other visitors/vacationers.

Outstanding Mother’s Day breakfast! Service was impeccable! I worked in the hotel industry in NYC, various mgt roles over the years at The Waldorf=Astoria, The Plaza, W Hotels, Omni Berkshire and Kerry Ann our server was phenomenal! Outstanding job Montage team, she is a true servant leader! Food was very good as well. I now work as the Hospitality Realtor, but it is such a pleasure to watch and be on the receiving end of such awesome service.

Google
The food struck a perfect balance—complex in both taste and presentation, yet light and unassuming. The atmosphere was top-tier: calming, curated, and effortlessly elegant.

Google
Couldn’t have asked for a better dining experience! Our server, Jordan, was AMAZING! He noticed we were uncomfortable with our seating without us having to say anything, remembered details we’d said about ourselves, was accommodating, and EXTREMELY well spoken and well versed on the menu. The food was great, and all the staff felt intuitive to our needs. I felt welcomed and like every member of staff— from chefs to servers to management— was happy to have our group, even when we had a couple of accommodations made.

Google
Kerry Ann was our waitress and she was very personable and attentive to our needs. It was very apparent that she loved her job. The food was very good. The atmosphere was very pleasant and had a great low country feel. I can’t wait to come back to Bluffton and visit this beautiful restaurant again.

Google
John was one of the best server’s I’ve ever had. He was very patient with our large group, detail oriented, and he would go above and beyond to double check something if he wasn’t quite sure. The food was amazing ! We had the ribs and steak. The Cesar salad was dry and needed more dressing, but John was happy to bring us more. All the staff were friendly and greeted us with smiles. The building is one of a kind, and you get an amazing view of very old large trees while you dine outside. We cannot wait to come back!

Overall Thoughts: At a group meeting on the Plantation and decided to try this place out. First, the surroundings are fantastic! Overall, I’d give this location 4.7 stars. The people there were super friendly. The burger I had was really good! You could actually taste the cooking method. The burger comes with a mayonnaise based aioli which was pretty good. The fries were the shoestring type fries! 1. Restaurant Type: Upscale Resort Casual 2. Price/Value: Pricet 3. Atmosphere: Friendly 4. Food Quality: Great Quality | plenty of fresh made items 5. Service: Very Good 6. Parking: NA 7. Ketchup: Heinz 8. Coke Or Pepsi: Coke (in a glass bottle) 9. Must Haves: Cheesburger! A friend had the Poke Bowl and said it was fantastic

Google
I ordered a banh mi sandwich. It tasted nothing like it. Instead it was a deep fried mess of a sandwich southern style. My husband had a French dip and it came with GREY looking gravy and said it tasted horrible. My toddler had the deviled eggs. Even those were terrible. Complete waste of money. I do remember we loved going there in the past but not sure what happened to the quality of the food.

Yelp
We went to Buffalos for dinner & lunch. The burger was the dinner hit with most especially after a long day of flying. We enjoyed lunch at the bar & Leroy was our bartender. He was truly a professional & provided fantastic service. We are still amazed & talking about shrimp cocktail. Wow!!

David H.

Yelp
Pros - very good service and I love the space. The restaurant has a good vibe - upscale but relaxed. We watched a college basketball game there while eating dinner. Food - I had the broccoli and mozzarella salad with swordfish added. I liked it and would definitely order it again. My wife had the burger. I had a bite. In the world of upscale burgers, we both agreed it was pretty ordinary.

Yelp
Great job on the renovations. Food is excellent. Service was spectacular I enjoyed it immensely

Yelp
Real disappointment. We used to enjoy breakfast --especially Sunday brunch. service was very poor, menu is anemic and management DOD not seem in touch Sad--used to be a good experience before recent changes. no longer on our list of restaurants to enjoy.

Yelp
Our interest was to visit Palmetto Bluff. In order to do so, we had check in with the gate guard tell them we were going to Buffalo's for lunch. At the gate, they provide you with CD to listen as you drive along the roads in Palmetto Bluff into the town of Wilson. Once in the town we entered Buffalo's and enjoyed their shrimp tacos. We also enjoyed their butternut squash soup which was also very good. We eventually enjoyed a long walk through the town of Wilson which was quite quaint.

Yelp
I ate breakfast, lunch and dinner here and the service is super slow. I was trying to tell myself I was trippin' for thinking the servers low key had an attitude. For being stuck on the Montage resort the food wasn't bad at all here but the portions are kinda small especially when you're sitting their hungry and waiting 5 ever for your food.

Yelp
During our stay at The Mintage we decided to give Buffalos a try for lunch. We arrived around 11:40 and were seated outside with a beautiful view of the River and park. Our waitress was very attentive and the food was very good.

Yelp
We had a really great experience here. Even though we stopped in during an extremely busy Sunday brunch, the staff was kind, efficient, and made us feel cared for. On Sundays, you have the option to take part in the full brunch buffet or order off the a la Carte menu. We opted for the latter and were so glad because even just the single portion was filling. I ordered the traditional breakfast option that was along the lines of the typical diner staple "2 Eggs-any-style plus sides". Buffalo's version was anything but basic: complete with fresh fruit, baguettes slices, crispy bacon, and scrambled eggs, the entire meal was full of flavor. Our waitress was the true highlight. She was unfazed by the dietary requests our table made and ensured that all food was received in a timely manner. I highly recommend making the trip if you are in Palmetto Bluff (or just in the Bluffton area) you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
What an amazing place overlooking the water! Hubby had the cheeseburger with potato fries and I had the BLT with turkey. The BLT was on a sour dough toasted bread. We like to split the sandwiches. We had the sangria full of blueberries , strawberries and blackberries. Very affordable!

Yelp
So unique and beautiful! The food was sooooo good!! I would recommend going it's a high end breakfast place:)

Yelp
When our dear friend was planning our visit to the Bluffton area she stated " I have to take you to Buffalos!" So on Saturday morning with glorious October weather we arrived at Buffalo's at 11 am. We arrived at 11:02 am late for breakfast but just in time for an incredible lunch. Two of us had the detox salad which was one (if not the absolute best) salads we have ever had. I added blackened chicken as my protein and it was perfection! Another in the group had a very filling chicken salad wrap that she opted to have with this amazing quinoa salad. Finally, the BLT made with toasted Brioche was exquisite. The mimosas were the perfect blend of OJ and champagne....The Bloody Mary was fabulous. Highly recommend taking the drive to this wonderful restaurant nestled amongst a beautifully serene setting.

Yelp
Food is delicious. They have GF options. Avoid the tomato sauce. The salads are good. The french fries are good. The calamari pasta was amazing. I would recommend getting the arugula pistachio Parmesan cheese salad with salmon on top. You will not be disappointed.
google avatar

Gloria K.

Yelp
Great for breakfast and lunch salads or burgers are good, but the current dinner menu leaves a lot to be desired! The chicken piccata was a small Cornish size roasted chicken leg quarter with bone in! The sauce was reddish brown and sweet that did not blend well with the capers. Thankfully the Caesar salad and pizza were good!

Yelp
I visit SC often and always search for new places to fall in love with. This place is great - way off the map and close to the water. You can't help but love this place. Situated on a private plantation, just a few yards from the water, it is very charming. A large outdoor patio with covered tables is an awesome way to enjoy your surroundings. I had a marvelous kale salad $14 one day & went back the next day to try the BLT $17 that my daughter had ordered. The $17 for the BLT made it a little less tasty, I can't possibly see how they justify that price - and I'm from Dallas where we see some crazy prices! The Bella Diva $13 wine was nice, but the dessert came up short on flavor, even though it looked great. Service could have been a little more attentive, but the servers were friendly.

Yelp
Carry out was great. Delicious pizza and yummy truffle fries. Dine-in was a disappointment. The halibut that was said to come with potatoes, broccoli and cauliflower arrived looking boiled and sloppy with a weird mix of carrots, potatoes, squash and sun chokes, all of which were still too hard and raw to eat. It was the end of the night and it appeared like the remnants of the day were dumped in the dish. By the way, sun chokes, especially raw, are not something to spring on someone. Google "fartichokes" if you want to know more. I said something to the server and he brought out a side of fresh, hot broccolini. Luckily, we had some delicious appetizers too because I couldn't eat most of the halibut meal. A little pricey for something inedible. The dine-in service was great, the food was not.

Yelp
Had a delicious post-golf lunch here while staying at the Montage. I ordered the turkey BLT with a side of sweet pot fries which several people at the resort had raved about. It was certainly worth the enthusiasm! Super delicious and comforting. They have a great outdoor seating area and are pet friendly as well which is a plus since we had our pup with us.

Yelp
Really great cafe / restaurant for breakfast / brunch or lunch. Very tasty menu choices and super friendly service. Also, The restaurant is located by the water and the views are superb.

Yelp
Always love it there. Best food on Palmetto Bluff but more than that the service and staff are excellent. Always pleasant to us. Attentive. Check in on us.

Yelp
I went for Sunday brunch. You can literally cut the prime rib with a fork. The butter knife provided is not even necessary. I usually balk at spending $100 for lunch, but if you are looking for a treat, this is well worth the money.

I G.

Yelp
I rarely leave a two-star but for a restaurant located in the "exclusive" and "pricey" Palmetto Bluff, this needs a mention. The BLT ($17) promoted itself on the lunch menu as being made with roasted turkey. I was glad to see that because I've stopped eating deli meats. When ordering it, I asked the server if it really had "roasted turkey" and not deli turkey and he immediately replied "Oh yes." But, instead, the delivered sandwich was made with obvious, processed deli meat, and not even high quality deli meat at that.

Yelp
Best meal in Palmetto Bluff. Great place for a family meal. We went here three times during our stay at the Montage. Delicious pizza, spaghetti, sea food. Highly recommended! Great service and atmosphere.
google avatar

Yelp
We dined at Buffalo's many times during our stay at the Montage. It was a perfect spot for our family since we are more "casual" folks. The breakfast bar is a great choice if you want to try a little bit of everything. My favorites were the grits, sticky buns & bacon. For dinner, I LOVED the fried chicken w/ collard greens and banana bread (more like French toast) w/ peach syrup. My husband had the pot roast and it was amazing too. The one & only little hitch: on the kid's breakfast menu it was written that the cereal came w/ fruit, but when they brought it out it had no fruit & the server said it did not come with fruit. Maybe if there was a few strawberries or bananas we would feel a little better about spending $7.00 for cereal & milk.

Yelp
Overpriced for the small portion size Slow execution 68 dollar bill and still hungry

Yelp
Been here twice for lunch. The scenery is gorgeous so sit by windows or out on patio. Food is always been good and creative. The staff is A1 and service perfect, the best. It is pricey restaurant but a nice treat and take a walk around the grounds n learn some interesting history.

Yelp
Lord have mercy its good afternoon dining. Peach n bourbon dranks, burger with pimento cheese n pickles. I chose slaw instead of fries cause I like to put a lil slaw on top of my burger. Set my watch at 3 for rain and I wasnt disappointed. Buddy Guy blues was playing then waitstaff came and got me and my plate at 245 then it rained like Noah was loading the ark on the pier. Except he wanted 2 of everything on the menu excluding the bourbon. He wanted 4 of those for some reason.....

Yelp
I am a local who has loved and enjoyed Buffalo's for years. My favorite place for lunch with friends and visitors. Because of life activities I had not had the opportunity to visit for several months. Went yesterday and was so very disappointed. What on earth happened to the wonderful menus they used to have?!?! And the prices seemed way up as well. The setting was still wonderful - hard to mess with that I guess. But I can't bring guests with the current menu. Please, please, please - whoever has some power - fix this awful menu......

Yelp
Nice spot to get lunch if you're enjoying a (highly recommended) day in Palmetto Bluff. Yes, it is expensive, but everything was very tasty and service was great. As with the rest of this picture-perfect community, Buffalo's is impeccably decorated in Southern grandeur style. Their menu has a variety of options, including salads, sandwiches, burgers, sides and other lunch fare. They also have cocktails and beer in a can. Service was kind and prompt. The prices are high like I said, but if you know that going in you'll have a nice time.
google avatar

Rachel L.

Yelp
Buffalo's was the perfect casual dining option at Palmetto Bluff. We went for dinner and drinks one night and also for brunch. Had to try their famous "biscuit bar" and boy was it amazing! For $19 each, we got unlimited biscuits, pancakes, French toast, eggs, omeletes, and bacon. A steal of a breakfast buffet! Dinner was also great! We loved our fried chicken sandwich and the peaches and bourbon cocktail was delicious! Such a great option at the resort for a casual brunch or dinner.

Yelp
Don't even know where to begin...the wait staff and support staff were kinds, friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. The food was fantastic...as always...and the ambience can not be beat!!!

Yelp
Had lunch with the in-laws while on vacation from CT in January. It was so wonderful! Service was amazing, our server (forgot her name but she was the sweetest thing ever - a lovely African American girl with a great smile!) was such a delight! I ordered a yummy lemonade cocktail that she recommended and she was right on! I had the salmon banh mi and it was one of the best things I've ever eaten! I loved it and I have had banh mi many times. Burger looked amazing but my boyfriend devoured it before I could get in a bite. Lovely setting and a great way to have lunch before paddle boarding or walking around the beautiful area.

Yelp
This place is right by the water on the private grounds of Palmetto Bluff. It's a small restaurant with friendly service. We walked in with at party of 10 and they were very accommodating and got us a table ready in 10 mins. The server was very kind and made sure everything was to our liking. It's pricy but then everything here is. Come enjoy the food and the view. Don't forget to try one of their desserts. Everything including the ice cream is made in house.
google avatar

Alex P.

Yelp
The setting here is so beautiful. If you go, make sure to sit outside if it is a nice day. The breakfast bar is really awesome - their grits are the best around town, in my opinion. My friends got the omelets - they seem pretty satisfied with their omelets too. It's a nice spot in Palmetto Bluff, if you are looking for a big breakfast.

Yelp
Beware of this place is a joke the food is horrible!!! $19 breakfast ordered an omelette and the eggs were uncooked, asked for no cheese added cheese and avocado it was disgusting the server couldn't get it together and again the service was horrible!!! Need better management and more training to be inside of the montage!!

Yelp
RIP OFF Fish tacos are less than impressive, small and plain. Three small soft tacos with a few cucumber (equals to about 1/2 of a small cucumber total), three fish pieces / one each, which equals to about 4 ounces total. A few slivers of red onion, which total maybe half a thin slice from onion. The only thing there is plenty of, is cost at $18 Also tried Caesar salad with fish $11 and 9$ extra for fish. There were two small pieces of fish- about 3 ounces (if that much) Palmetto Bluff is known for having and holding high standards. It's beyond me how Buffalos is allowed to hold such low standards. I am also disappointed that I can't show you my pictures.

Donald K.

Yelp
My wife and I were there yesterday for lunch and split a turkey sandwich with delicious sweet potato fries with special dipping sauce , Leroy our waiter was there when we needed him we will definitely return.

Cat F.

Yelp
Great casual dining, we enjoyed the meatball app and the salads were a nice size, added salmon to the Cesar salad and shrimp to the apple for a perfect lite dinner
google avatar

Aaron V.

Yelp
Used to be delicious. They've managed to screw up French fries and a sandwich. Waited 45 minutes for 4 sandwiches on a Tuesday at 2:30 in the afternoon with only four other patrons. Unacceptable for a 97$ bill.

Timothy H.

Yelp
Buffalo's has changed. My wife and I ate here on several occasions before the menu change. The old menu and staff were wonderful. Now an Italian themed breakfast menu that is way too pricy. The Southern Charm has been lost and replaced with bad food and a less than friendly staff. The Montage takeover has ruined a favorite place of ours. We may as well have gone to Disney for the same experience.
google avatar

Rebecca V.

Yelp
It's worth just coming here to see the property. Gorgeous! For dinner, we enjoyed sitting on the screened porch. I had the special grouper salad and my hubby had the chicken sandwich. Both so yummy. Peaches and bourbon cocktail was divine and I was able to purchase the peach cider to make it at home and savor the memory. Service was excellent!
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent Sunday breakfast place. Good food, good service, beautiful location. You can stroll the grounds after to burn off some of the calories!

Yelp
This restaurant was recommended by some family friends so we drove over from Hilton Head. The drive was about 40 minutes and it was worth every minute. We started with the onion dip appetizer which was a good start to our meal. The waffle chips it came with were AMAZING. My sister and I decided to split the Southern BLT and the wedge salad. The salad came with a lot of toppings and was excellent. The ratio of the amount of salad to dressing was perfect. The sandwich bread was perfectly toasted. The only complaint I have about it was the tomato was a little large for my taste, but that is an easy fix! Overall, I would recommend this restaurant and would definitely come back the next time I am in the area. Service was nice and friendly.

Mani Y.

Yelp
Had breakfast and dinner here. Both were really good. The bfast bar is very kid friendly but a bit pricey for 23 bucks. The patio is super dog friendly with a great view !! The service at this restaurant and all the property makes it a 5 Star review !

Anna Q.

Yelp
We have been going here for years, it has always been amazing. Today it missed my expectations. The wait was long, the service was incredibly slow and the menu we enjoyed in the past is gone. They have significantly raised their prices and limited the menu. The food was good, was it worth the price? Eh, not really. Honestly, I can't imagine paying $20+ for a lunch entree so I ordered an overpriced salad, nor did I want to order the heavy options presented. It might actually be better for dinner because the prices & menu are pretty much the same. Buffalo's, please bring back a real lunch menu. If you need inspiration, take a road trip up to Charleston.

Carolyn N.

Yelp
We had lunch at Buffalos' many times over the last several, as well as our friends that live here in Hilton Head. We stopped for lunch today, and were extremely dissatisfied with their "new menu". Their classic signature sandwiches are gone from the menu, their only 3 sandwiches to from, plus a burger. Their Italian sandwiches, I had the salami and provolone with a tomato on bread they call Italian, is far from it. I'm Italian, this was definitely not Genoa Salami, didn't even resemble it, full of fat. We did speak to the girl at the counter that advised us this menu is new, as of December 2nd. Unless this menu changes, and more choices, as full time residents, we will not be returning.
google avatar

Kristy G.

Yelp
The black bean burger was amazing and so were the sweet potato fries. I work at The Inn at Palmetto Bluff but this was my first time eating here, although the restaurant is just steps from where I work! The sweet potato fries had this maple sauce that came with them and I have never had anything so delicious with fries! Buffalo's is open to the public so I would definitely suggest a visit if you're in the area and then take a tour of the Inn property!

Richard H.

Yelp
I'm stunned. I'm with my wife and some friends we meet in Hilton Head every year and my friend recommended this place for drinks and desserts after dinner. We have been sitting here for 30 minutes and there are 4 wait staff who have been walking around and not so much as a nod in our direction. When I finally was able to get someone's attention, I asked in a nice way why the lack service but unfortunately she was unable to give me an explanation even though she did bring my friend's wife a complimentary drink. I won't be coming back and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone else.

Jackson D.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere, slow service, WAY OVERPRICED, paid 5 bucks for a tea and 18 for a mediocre salad

Kevin O.

Yelp
Stayed at one of the cottages at Montage for 3 nights and my wife and I walked to Buffalos every morning and grabbed a cup of coffee and a cinnamon sticky bun to get the day started. First impressions mean a lot and the friendly southern hospitality service that we received every morning was off the charts !!! And the sticky buns were the cherry on top!!! After the kids got moving, usually 2 hours later, we would go back for the 'biscuit bar' breakfast which was awesome!!! ... fresh fruit, biscuits and gravy, homemade granola, sausage and bacon, omelets made to order, French toast, etc and more sticky buns - Delicious!!... while drinks were not included in the price of the buffet , splurge and order the orange juice as it was fresh squeezed ! Yes it is more expensive than you may typically pay for breakfast but a must for breakfast if you are in the area. Thanks for the great service every morning !!!
