This restaurant was a mixed experience. While the food was very flavorsome the service was lacking. From the moment we started our order with Tyler, we felt like an inconvenience. He was rude and seemed like he did not want to be there. While picking up our food, we asked for water and while he did help us, he slammed the cups on the counter. Lastly and most disappointing, was receiving the incorrect order. While luckily there was no dietary restrictions and we did eat the food, when you spend almost $60 on 2 burgers, you’d expect a better experience.

At 8am Friday, good breakfast burger, served fast. Inside terminal 2 gates I don't know what more I can expect from an airport burger. Pricey, Breakfast Burger $21, but it's an airport. Thick burger. Better than expected bacon. Fried egg and good bun round out the deliciousness. Not busy while I was here. Self order kiosk. Staff friendly (no Tyler 😁 )

The Built Custom Burgers restaurant in LAX makes a great burger. Full stop. BUT getting your order takes time and I was waiting 20 minutes to get a burger and some fries. The operation needs some efficiency gains as it took forever. I had to eat my food on the plane but I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. So.. if you have the time, stop here. If you don't have atleast 20 minutes.. go to the Asian or pizza place that's right beside it. It's also 22 bucks for a burger.

Google
The person who took my order was friendly, polite and answered all my questions. I ordered sweet potato fries. They were warm, but not hot. My burger was cold. I enjoyed the soft bun and the shredded lettuce. The onion and tomato were fresh. I ordered a cheeseburger but my burger did not have any cheese. My burger patty was cold. "Custom" is in the name, but I didn't find the burgers to be any more customizable than any other food establishment. For the $27 I paid, I was a bit disappointed and will probably not eat there again. I don't understand why making good food is so difficult, especially when all the tools and specialty equipment are in place.

Google
I have celiacs, and I really appreciate how Carle took the time think about their cooking process, explain to me the gluten risks, and assure me of the steps they would be taking to ensure I got safe food. He also was keeping a tally of his remaining patties for the night to make sure he didn’t waste food. Looked like he was already manager, and I congratulate Built for promoting someone who takes their work and especially customer satisfaction so seriously!

Google
Just raise the menu prices. Adding a 10% recovery fee that goes back into the business is dumb. It's beyond stupid. Your customers are stuck in a terminal and will pay the airport food prices. List them clearly. Nothing ruins a meal more than reading a line item like that. Raise your prices and if your can't afford to do business while charging 20 dollars a burger for counter service, maybe pack up and let some other business have that spot. Shame cause the food is pretty good.

Google
Custom-made burgers! I was feeling an impossible patty ($22)—it was cooked perfectly. All other ingredients were fresh. Burger could have been slightly better if the buns were more toasty. It was big and messy (could be bad or good depending who you are). I got the garlic aioli fries and they were delish! Super big portion for $5.60.

Google
The scrambled eggs in both the breakfast burrito and croissant were really disappointing rubbery, plasticky, and lacking flavor. The burrito wasn’t warm enough, and the croissant was wet and soggy. I don't know about their burgers, but the breakfast items were just not enjoyable. the service was professional, warm, and welcoming, which I truly appreciated.

Yelp
We grabbed a bite to eat here during a connection. For breakfast it looked as if you could build our own burger because all the stuff was out on display. We opted for actual breakfast, we ordered a breakfast crossiant, burrito and got orange juice. Croissant sandwich was dry as heck. Burrito was pretty good. I would've preferred the tortilla be slightly toasted more so it's crisp but can't win them all. They also had jalapeno salsa which add some extra flavor. Orange juice was very sour, it was refreshing though because our flight was long. Definite winner here was cashier. Totally forgot to get her name. But I appreciate that she was patient, helpful and wished us a safe flight.

Yelp
For the cost of airport food, this is the most justified spot for a full meal in Delta. There was a place charging $13 for a taco so when you can get a burger and fries for $20 it's worth the price, plus no line. But with service being great and the burger and fries super fresh, I really can't complain about this kind of airport food. I wish I could get this in other terminals but Delta is winning right now. Plenty of seating if it isn't a peak time and real clean space.
google avatar

Don P.

Yelp
Went to order a combo and they said combos aren't available right now. But you can purchase everything all cart. At twice the price. Kind of like bait and switch.
google avatar

Ray L.

Yelp
Not the greatest place for breakfast. Everything is premade and being that I can't eat eggs, most of my sandwich was just bacon and bread :/. Also the outlets at the tables are broken so no charging.
google avatar

Bob L.

Yelp
I never paid, literally, $25 for a "burger," a veggie burger Before. no fries, no drink. $25 welcome go LAX monopoly
google avatar

Luis S.

Yelp
Service was good but meat was undercooked. Bun tastes awful. Tables and surrounding area was dirty.

Angela C.

Yelp
No customer service- I ordered 2 burgers one with bacon one without- sat down in the food court opened the burgers- neither had bacon. Took back up to counter and they required me to get my other burger, so I had to prove that the other burger didn't have bacon either. Once I got the other burger back to the counter the manager was like what is going on? Employees couldn't own up to messing up. Didn't eat either burger since they both got mutilated instead of just simply adding bacon to one. Pretty sure the first burger got spit on when I went to get the other one.
google avatar

Jennifer T.

Yelp
Tasty, juicy Impossible cheeseburger, with cheddar and fixings on a fresh brioche bun. Tasty and delicious, but $22 is insane. The service was good if not especially friendly. Despite the crowds (including an incredibly long line at Jersey Mike's), we found a comfortable table with chairs and bench seating.
google avatar

Yelp
Rip off prices, mediocre food, bad service, unclear menu, frustrating layout, awful atmosphere. Feels great to get rushed through ordering a $24 burger (whoa hidden prices!) and then try to eat it while an airport alarm shrieks in your left ear. Don't make the mistake I made.

Richard P.

Yelp
How you advertise as a "Custom Burger," when the workers don't make it the way you asked; ask for pickles, they just ignored my request. I also asked if my burger is cooked medium, they cannot even fulfill it either, overcooked and dry, The Latin lady didn't seem like she knows what she was doing, assuming she's new and didn't listen when I asked to put jalapeños and pickles, she pretend not to understand. Geez, Burger King, Wendy's does a better job at building your burger the way you like it instead of this girl telling me what she wants for my burger. Don't recommend this place at all horrible!
google avatar

Yelp
Gross!!! Skip this over priced place at the airport. Got a plain cheeseburger for 12.00 and used three packets to get the dry thing down.
google avatar

Barney C.

Yelp
Pretty solid for airport burger. TL;DR Version Review: - The burger was made fresh and tasted really good - The wait wasn't as bad as other establishments - From my experience airport food is (more often than not) lackluster and expensive. So while the burger wasn't cheap (under $10), it was well-put together and worth it given the circumstances. - It's really hard to pull off an airport burger (Shake Shack holds the crown IMO) but Built Custom Burgers puts forth a solid and delicious effort.
google avatar

Vivian K.

Yelp
Somehow we always run a bit too late to grab a bite and have to settle for airport food. Now I don't have high expectations for airport food - to be fair, I'm sure costs are high to operate. But for $20 burgers... I expect buns to be warm... I mean at the very least microwave it lol, takes 15 seconds. Buns were surprisingly cool to the touch. Disappointing

Samantha S.

Yelp
This was my first time ordering a customized cheese hamburger. The cashier was impatient and rude, ignoring me completely. She didn't even bother to answer my questions, which prompted me to leave and opt for Starbucks instead. The manager suggested that my accent may have caused some misunderstanding with the cashier. However, all I wanted was to buy a hamburger. I don't understand how such simple request could be misunderstood to the point that it ruined my day. The worst experience I never had before. I felt offended and very Disappointed!!!they are RACIST !!!!! They truly don't happy with them job so they treat consumers like sh* !! Terrible cashier and manager contribute negatively to a business, compromising the owner's hard work and the brand's reputation.

Yelp
Only got a coke, but it's expensive and probably not worth the price. Fast service. Food court atmosphere
google avatar

Theononymous H.

Yelp
You only get a basic cheese burger for 17 dollars plus tax. They build it for you just like any other restaurant. It's average tasting. Not worth the price. Would avoid this place.
google avatar

Kong L.

Yelp
If you are hungry, this is not a bad option; compared to the other restaurants in this terminal. I was in a rush so I ordered a $5 tater tots. I noticed that the tots have been sitting out. It was warm but not freshly hot. I would like to try the burgers next time. Good customer service.

Will J.

Yelp
When your menu says breakfast is served until 10:30am, you should probably let someone order it at 10:25am. Ahh... airport monopolies.
google avatar

Gideon H.

Yelp
Unkind at the airport. Avoid. I had bad food and bad service. What else do you need? Nothing. Just avoid.
google avatar

Bruce K.

Yelp
There's only so much you can do to make a custom burger in an airport terminal. I can see that BUILT is trying their best with their burgers. You can custom make burgers here, or a salad, and the newest edition is the impossible burger. I ordered a Bacon Cheddar Cheeseburger with pepper jack cheese. And honestly? It was meh. The patty itself was dry, the toppings, while assembled pretty meticulously, were fresh but nothing that really stood out. I think if you're looking for a good burger, you're not going to get it here but they have something that will fill you up. I do have to say that you will taste the grilled charred taste on the patty though and that they melt the cheese. Otherwise, nothing else more to say about BUILT. They have burgers, you can customize your own, and its average at best. But, good luck with another restaurant in this terminal.

Yelp
None of the other food items near our gate appealed to me, so we finally settled on a burger from here. Given we had a long-haul flight ahead of us, we agreed we'd need something hearty to get us through, and a burger seemed like a natural choice. We each went with their bacon cheeseburger, and made one order a combo so we could share a soda and some tater tots. The burger came with everything you'd expect on a bacon cheeseburger (lettuce, tomato, red onions, bacon, cheese), and they added in their own special sauce. It was kind of creamy, kind of tangy. The tater tots were a good side to have, as they were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. My husband powered down the last of them after I tapped out on the last bit of my burger. The burger itself was decent - nothing mind-blowing. It was overly tall, so I had to smoosh it down to make it bite-able. The flavor of the meat was lost in the sauce. I only gave 3 stars for the lackluster service and the fact that this meal alone was more than we'd spent on food in three days. I get it's a convenience for being in the airport, but it's a burger, for crying out loud.

Yelp
My road warrior life takes me to my airports, quick bites, and tons of people. I was pleasantly surprised when I was greeted my Sharon. She was so friendly and had a warm smile. She walked me through the Built Custom burger process and was even more surprised on the number of free toppings that are included. I went with an impossible burger on greens. I got the chipotle aioli and for a hot second forgot that I didn't get a burger burger. Sharon recommended the balsamic dressing as an extra to go with my meal. Score! The food is made to order, so the is a reasonable wait. No complaints at all! Super happy with my airport meal!

Yelp
I know the smash burger craze is all the rage and believe me I fall for it. The crusty edges the thicker middle. Giving you a full spectrum of taste and touch in your mouth. This place has all the trappings of an excellent burger joint. Here comes the twist. All the items in the warming area are for display only. As in to make you think everything is so big and good looking. What I saw and what I ordered were not the same. The fries were much smaller I was told these are the regular fries. Those on the warmer are large fries you need to ask for those. Really because there is only one size on display and nobody mentioned anything about sizes when I ordered. Okay probably better for me any way. The burger was smash burnt and clearly reheated in a microwave and put on a bun. The burger was like a hockey puck yet microwaved in water or something to make it flexible burnt. There were no condiments on it which is fine but that first bite look out for sand feeling in your mouth of driness. Won't be fooled again built to taste bad.
google avatar

Yelp
I truly do not like giving low reviews, but in this case I had too. The only redeeming quality about this place is that they carry Washington beer (Elysian Space Dust). We spent $60 on 2 burgers and 2 beers, only to find that at a large airport and during covid, they gave you just the patty and bun with a box of topping thrown together for you to put on yourself. This is not healthy with it being COVID times and just in general. I even had to use a lid to put on my guacamole that came in a ramekin as they did not even provide silverware to do so. For the money we paid, should not happen. With next to no other options in the terminal many people had the same issue as us and were equally as unhappy.
google avatar

Robert H.

Yelp
Just ate here took one bite and spit it out. This was after the first breakfast sandwich they gave me was cold. Don't do it.
google avatar

Donald B.

Yelp
$60 for 3 plain burgers with fries, no toppings available because they put them all away for some reason, and 3 drinks. Burgers taste like someone who isn't very good at cooking burnt them over a campfire. I feel pretty confident this was one of the worst meals of my life. +1 because I think the staff are at least trying, they were friendly and this probably isn't their fault.
google avatar

Catherine G.

Yelp
Maybe you could tell your employees not to take their smoke breaks in the mother's nursing room. Absolutely atrocious that I was standing outside holding my kid for ten minutes to have this chick walk out like it was nothing.

Dana M.

Yelp
Custom burgers. Can only order off premade Menu. No substitutions. Service was awful. $55 for 2 burgers with fries. Nope.
google avatar

Royce L.

Yelp
A make your own burger place. They are in a food court area so the seating was shared with everyone else. It was pretty crowded but I was lucky enough to score a seat pretty quickly after getting my food. You order at the kiosk and they do have some "pre" made choices but you can build your own with all the toppings. They are also vegan friendly and I ended up having the impossible burger which was pretty good. The fries were decent too. Good option if you have a layover or our waiting for a flight in this terminal.
google avatar

Shahab P.

Yelp
I tried it at LAX for the first time. It looks like subway for burgers. The service was good but it wasn't the best food I could have. I went with the combo with a beer which was pretty pricey for what it was. The burger was small. It didn't come with fries, and the beer was a small bottle of a beer which wasn't the best. For all of these I think I spent 19 dollars. I can't even imagine a combo without fries specially with that price. There are other places that you can have a good meal with better value.
google avatar

Martina C.

Yelp
*Vegan review* Built burger didn't give me a whole lot of confidence being that it was airport food. But the manager took our order and we "built" ourselves a vegan burger bowl. I was also SUPER unsure of a burger bowl...a salad with burger toppings and ketchup and mustard and hot sauce to moisturize lettuce...eh...I had 0 expectation of GOOD. But this was actually GREAT. As a vegan traveler, I have a lot of trouble finding good, healthy, and hearty food to eat in airports. But this patty was delicious. I do NOT like the Beyond patties, this was a house made veggie patty. It was hearty it was delicious and it complimented the "bowl" well. I ate this because it was my only option this time in LA, but next time I would definitely have it by choice. YUM. GOOD food Built!

Cynthia D.

Yelp
getting off from flight I past to built burger on April 17 2024 I pay over 30 dollard my food was cold the customer service was horrible the lady has a bad attitude want to charge for ex toppings I don't recommend these place and these cashier name Jackie has the worst customer service I feel sorry for the owner having a bad customer service
google avatar

Shawn W.

Yelp
The food is good, not great. Typical airport pricing. 10.50 for a small breakfast burrito. It was good. The reason for the 4 stars is that the staff was excellent. They knew how to move a line. They were capable, and they were very polite and professional.
google avatar

Sara B.

Yelp
Built is in Terminal 2 at LAX. There are a handful of food options but nothing sounded too enticing. I decided on Built because when i saw they had Tater tots i thought that would hit the spot after a long flight. The line was a little slower than i expected- but that's because everyone gets to customize heir own burgers- or have them "built" (get it?). The ingredients looked fresh and everything was made to order. Even my tots came out piping hot! They definitely needed some salt - but that is for my tastebuds. For what i got i was satisfied - I'm not sure why everyone left so many low ratings (?) -staff was friendly (albeit a little slow), order was correct and hot- and i didn't see anyone go up to complain or have their order fixed for the 20 minutes i sat nearby.
google avatar

Sarah H.

Yelp
For burgers in an airport I was pleasantly surprised! The line was short, service was friendly with a smile. We ordered the impossible burger, breakfast burger, tots, and strawberry shake. The cashier reminded me that the impossible burger would take ten minutes to cook even though there were a few signs posted just in case my flight was close to departure. No worries on my part! The burgers were big and delicious, tots were hot and crispy, not greasy at all. Shake was creamy and refreshing, just needed a bigger straw but I was happy it was paper! Hungry and at LAX Terminal 2? Visit this place.

Jennifer L.

Yelp
If I can give this place a 0 star I would! Overpriced, burgers that are dry and the bun is cold! Customer service is the worst! There is a guy up front name William J. he is really rude, mumbling under his breath. My sister asked for banana peppers on her burger and he looks at her with a face and says " uh, banana peppers on a burger" it's a burger place that has a build your own bar why put it out if you are gonna criticize what people are adding to their burger! The workers their need to learn how to smile and speak to customers especially when we are paying $20 for dry ass basic burgers.
google avatar

Monica H.

Yelp
Not deaf-friendly.... My wife and I have requested for the vegan impossible burgers with sweet potato fries and tots.. the front cashier read our words on the BiG app.. then we grab it to go as in the hurry due to our flight time.. we got in and I started eating mine because I was pretty hungry.. somehow I have noticed the cheese, not sure if it was vegan? I asked my wife to taste it cuz she's an expert taste, she spot the patty is real meat, not vegan. I got upset cuz I bite the half of it.. then my partner made me eat her burger so I eat it so fast then she has realized it's real meat too! I was like ahh.. we got upset.. the front cashier should have known we asked for vegan burgers because the "impossible" burger is vegan.. period...
google avatar

Sheila K.

Yelp
I was honestly shocked to see that this burger joint in the airport had low ratings...the quality of the meat is great and delicious. Additionally, they were super quick to prepare your meal. Perfect place to go before you hop on your flight!
google avatar

Perry M.

Yelp
I like this place and look forward to grabbing a burger here whenever I've got a flight out of LAX. This trip, my departure gate was in Terminal 3, which means I like it enough to take the shuttle bus from Terminal 3 to Terminal 2 where Built is located. Built has the Impossible Burger, which lets me stay plant based while eating a scrumptious burger. The one downside of the Impossible Burger is that it takes an impossible amount of time to cook...which is no fault of Built's. Built's fries are pretty good too, the skinny-crisp variety like you find at the Arches. With the wait time for The Impossible Burger, I was in and out in 20 minutes and back on the shuttle to Terminal 3. It's a little on the pricey side which you'd anticipate at an airport restaurant. Won't keep me away.
google avatar

Chase W.

Yelp
Please don't eat here. I beg you. There are very few food choices in this area of the airport so we got stuck eating here. Two chicken club sandwiches, an order of tots, and an order of sweet potato fries cost me $45. The service was terrible and I watched every single person who picked up their order come back with something missing. When it was my time to pick up our order, we had only one chicken club and somehow an extra order of fries. I complained and got our other chicken club. Then she asked if I wanted veggies. It turns out the guacamole and other toppings the chicken club was supposed to have weren't even in the bag. When we finally ate, it was tasteless. The fries were soggy and lacking in any taste, the sandwiches had no guacamole and were as plain as could be. The only redeeming factor was the tots, they were pretty good.
google avatar

Jayvee P.

Yelp
I didn't even get a burger from here, yet I stillI decided to give a one star rating because of one specific employee that was giving me attitude and being extremely rude to me. I was trying to use my phone camera to look at the menu because I didn't have my glasses with me, and this guy gives me attitude by saying "Noo, *shakes his head* Noo *shakes his head*, you cannot take pictures here." I explained to him the reason why I was using my camera and it wasn't for pictures but to help me look at the menu. Regardless, in a public airport like LAX, there is NO rule/law that prohibits you from taking pictures. Even one of the other employees repeated what I said to help him understand yet he still shook his head and still proceeded with his IDGAF kind of attitude. I just walked away and said, "Well I'm sorry, but you just lost a customer." The photo below is of him just in case if anyone wanted to know. If you do get a burger from here, I'd highly advise you to not be served by him.

Yelp
Some add ons are additional charge. Doesn't say on sign and told after it put together

Yelp
Yum!!! V impressed with this; it was fast and delicious! Got the vegan burger patty on a salad with avocado and sautéed mushrooms, and honestly it was better than several times I've had the similar at the Counter!!! (I think the restaurants are related) It was a pleasant surprise how FRESH it tasted - the avocado was perfectly ripe and the patty was amazing! Service was friendly and fast as well :-) Definitely will be back!

Yelp
Yelp can be a scary place. When seeing 2.5 stars average, it's easy to get alarmed or think that the restaurant might be borderline poison. After all, yelpers are generally positive people, so this must mean that a place is an anomaly for visitors. However, upon reading reviews in detail, the problem here is not necessarily with the burgers, but more with the crowd that works here. Folks were certainly way more interested in conversing among themselves than helping customers. With that said, service was quick. As for most visitors, my intentions were simple. To get a good meal and do it quickly. I'd say this place met those expectations, and that's a win for a place in an airport. As far as the burger goes, it wasn't bad. The meat was a little on the dry side, but flavorful. I think the quality of ingredients here beats most fast food joints. The cleanliness of the place was also better than expected, floor and counters were clean, employees wearing gloves. So, overall, I didn't think this was a bad burger, especially for an airport. Would return given the lack of other options.

Yelp
BREAKFAST CROISSANT REVIEW 3.5 stars for food. Rounded up for quick service. Got the croissant bacon egg and cheese sandwich and the breakfast burrito with bacon egg cheese. I thought the croissant was better but it was super flat. Came out quick. The burrito has tater tots inside so don't order it on the side save yourself the extra $5 lol. Pricey as hell. Tip: get the salsa packets it makes it taste a lot better.
google avatar

David S.

Yelp
Got an egg and cheese burger along with avacodo and sauteed mushroom. Decent price for airport. Relatively fast and actually tasted quite good again for airport food. (If not at airport it's be 3 stars) Only critical point was that something was spicy. I'm thinking it was the avacodo (labeled that not guacamole) but it may have been something that crossed over.

Yelp
Pay the airport price if you are hungry at the Terminal. BUILT is located inside Terminal 2. It is probably one of the best choice available in this Terminal in terms of "fast food". But be prepared to pay an arm and a leg for mediocre food. Arrived at the Terminal at 7p and was glad that it is a quiet day at the airport. I was beginning to lose my patience because there was confusion at the register. The server was sweet, but she was super slow and barely audible. Ordered both the burger with the bun and in a bowl. Flavor wise, the burger in the bun is better, but you get more bacon and veggies when you order in the bowl. But it really bowls down to who is preparing your food. For $13.95, I expected higher quality food from BUILT then an overcooked beef patty with an over-hard egg. Really a big disappointment. But I guess I shouldn't complain because it filled my stomach as I wait to board my flight out of LAX. All I can say is... good luck with your order.
google avatar

Melody C.

Yelp
I have an 8am flight, so I was present when they opened. There was already a line, so I decided to wait it out. When the line died down and I went up to place my order, I was deeply saddened that they didn't have any Breakfast Burritos. All they had were Breakfast Burgers or the Twice Fried Egg Sandwich. I opted for the burger. Thought about ordering fries or tater tots, but the $5 additional cost prevented me. Add a Dasani 20 fl oz water bottle to the order and the total was about $18. This was more than I was hoping to spend... but oh well, food is more expensive at the airport. They make the burger in front of you. Apparently, you are allowed unlimited toppings...? I just ordered the burger as is, so that might be something to try next time. When I sat down and took a bite of the burger, however, it was absolutely delicious! Probably shouldn't be stuffing my face with a huge burger so early in the morning, but man, it was good. Came with an egg! The bacon, grilled onions... it was a perfect burger. -1 star because I really wanted the breakfast burrito. I guess I shouldn't be dinging them since I enjoyed the burger... but the burrito comes with tater tots... and who in their right mind would pass that up? Please have more breakfast burritos in the future!

Yelp
Customizable burgers, beers, and fries/tater tots. Located in the food court area in Terminal 2 at LAX, this is a crowded takeaway spot with communal seating. You order and pay first, and then enter an assembly line to begin the process of building your burger. The suggested steps are clearly outlined on the menu, which offers a vegan burger and a great variety of classic as well as unique toppings. $30 for a burger, tots, beer, and Fiji water. For anyone complaining about the higher than average prices-is this your first time in an airport? I felt the cost was quite fair considering the quality and large portion sizes. I got the Vegan Veggie Burger, and chose to add ketchup, mustard, relish, iceberg lettuce, tomato, pickled peppers, carrots, and guacamole. The patty was good, resembling an old school garden burger. Its flavor was a bit bland, but the hearty, crisp texture was fantastic, and the abundance of toppings made up for what the patty lacked. I appreciate that they have tater tots instead of just french fries. The Sweet Sriracha Tots were excellent-balanced spice, with a hint of sweet chili, and no additional condiments required. The meal kept me full for the duration of my 6 hour flight and beyond. Definitely a solid choice for fresh, tasty food in Terminal 2.
