"Another RM moment with the work of Kim Whanki! The BTS leader visited Buk Seoul Museum of Art to see their The Dream of Modernity: Planting a Flowering Tree exhibition, and posed for a photo in front of Kim Whanki's Song of Eternity. The museum is known for covering everything from fine art to photography and design."

Despite not being listed as a major tourist attraction nor being located near the most touristic parts of Seoul, I visited this museum and rather enjoyed it. It's actually smaller than I imagined it to be, so don't expect to spend any more than 30 min to one hour to have a look at everything there. Free entrance, and exhibition guides and videos were translated into English.

Well the facilities are great. Each floor has space for individual artist to showcase their art. The roof has a nice garden. The field surrounding the museum is good for kids. The art inside... well it's contemporary. Not bad place and it's free. The free lockers are nice and bathrooms are sparkly clean. Staff are friendly. I took a star away because the art was eehh. I feel like some exhibits portrayed nothing of the artist and the process, rather random stuff they created that was trying too hard. Sorry, I know it's art, but come on.

I was for appreciation art that was painted in early 19th century in Korea. Most of them were introduced in my school book when I was a high school student. Prior to this exhibition, I never saw paints that my teacher in high school teach taught me during the school class. All paints and portraits are genuine.

The Seoul Museum of Art (free entry) is modern art museum located behind the Deoksugung Palace grounds. Here you can explore several floors which six exhibition halls which feature the works of Korean and international artists works at various times throughout the year. There is one permanent exhibition "Chun Kyung Ja - Eternal Narcissist, where you can see a handful of works painted by this important Korean artist. During our last visit we found some of the works included in the third floor temporary exhibition - DigiFun Art: Urban Space (22 Sept- 13 Dec 13 2015) quite interesting to see. We also enjoyed the sculpture garden in front of the museum. These are quite photogenic, particularly during autumn foliage time of year. In the end, the Seoul Museum of Art might be a hit or miss for art fans. There are few exhibition halls and depending on the current exhibitions, there might or might not be much that meets your tastes for art. As such it is best to visit the museum website beforehand prior to deciding to include a visit here or not during your trip to Seoul.

It’s meaningfully standing as a city-supported art institution in the mostly residential neighborhood located far distant from the city’s usual centers.

The exhibition space seemed to be only partly accessible when we visited (although I don't actually know what they have cordoned off on the top floor), and what was accessible was modestly sized. But the architecture is bright and there open in the center of the building. There are also good facilities, such as the spacious and well-equipped 수요실. I wonder if the fact that I found the exhibition boring tainted my overall experience. Perhaps I'll like it better next time (when there's no pandemic raging and limiting the experience of everything).
