The 27 Best Restaurants In Midtown - New York - The Infatuation

"This Northern Indian restaurant opened in 1999, takes up an entire townhouse on East 49th Street, and has likely catered thousands of UN lunches over the years. Their namesake dal bukhara is the best thing here, made with black lentils and cooked so that some bites are chewy and others are smooth and creamy. If you eat meat, try something with lamb." - bryan kim, sonal shah, molly fitzpatrick, willa moore

Where To Eat With A Really Big Group - New York - The Infatuation

"If you’re planning a group dinner in Midtown, and you’d rather not go to Bubba Gump or a steakhouse where your check will creep into the quadruple digits, we suggest Bukhara. This place has three floors, it isn’t tough to get into with a big group (even last-minute), and it also makes some of the best Indian Indian food in the city. Plus the naan here is about the size of a dinosaur’s footprint, and this place does a lot of catering, so they know how to handle large groups." - bryan kim

The Best Delivery Options In Manhattan - New York - The Infatuation

"If you want to eat the best dal in the city, you need to order from Bukhara Grill. This Northern Indian restaurant in Midtown East specializes in black lentil dal bukhara that was originally made famous by a hotel in Delhi. It’s creamy and rich, and goes perfectly with naan that’s as large as a bicycle seat (as well as raita and rice). Bukhara Grill also makes some excellent chicken makhani and dahi aloo papri chat." - hannah albertine, nikko duren, matt tervooren

Where To Eat With Flaky Friends - New York - The Infatuation

"When you’re in Midtown and want to gather with some people after work one day, summon everyone to Bukhara Grill. This is an Indian restaurant that takes up an entire townhouse on East 49th Street. Even if three people show up late and another two don’t ever show because “they got stuck at a networking event,” the staff here will make it work and continue to encourage you to order lots of excellent stews and Indian beers (just go with it). We especially like the dal bukhara, claypot meats, and the naan - which comes in the shape of an actual saddle." - hannah albertine, nikko duren

The Best Restaurants To Celebrate Diwali, In Collaboration With Gold House - New York - The Infatuation

"Sehr Thadhani, Chief Digital Officer, NASDAQ “To me, the perfect spots to celebrate Diwali are those where you can gather a bunch of friends, laugh loudly, and stay for hours. One place that I've always held dear is Bukhara in Midtown East. [I moved to Miami during the pandemic, but] it used to be my all-time favorite, and it brought back memories of our time in Delhi at the Maurya Sheraton, where the naans were the size of the table.”" - jess basser sanders

We were a group of 7 visiting Bukhara Grill. Before going, we called in advance to confirm if they had Jain (no onion, no garlic, no potatoes) vegetarian options. They confirmed three items, so we decided to dine there. At the restaurant, we clearly mentioned couple of times which items needed to be Jain and which were regular. The whole order was vegetarian. One of the dishes we ordered was Malai Chaap, specifically Jain. When it arrived, one of our friends noticed that there was a piece of chicken in the dish. When we informed the waiter, instead of apologizing or checking immediately, he gave us attitude and said, “These chef people don’t believe it,” and took the plates away. We went to the kitchen ourselves to talk to the chef, who seemed completely unaware that chicken and chaap pieces were being kept together — and acted as if it wasn’t a big deal. When we tried to speak to the manager, he argued with us and said, “Why are you making a fuss? You didn’t even eat the chicken piece.” This was incredibly disrespectful — many of us had already eaten the contaminated chaap. There was no apology, no accountability, and no concern for either religious beliefs or potential allergies. The staff, including the manager “Bobby,” showed zero professionalism and treated the entire situation casually. For them, faith, food safety, and customer respect mean nothing. Absolutely unacceptable behavior — I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone

We had ordered Jain Malai Soya Chaap, which is clearly understood to be a pure vegetarian dish prepared without onion or garlic. However, to our shock and deep disappointment, we were served chicken pieces instead of soya. This is not just a minor mistake in our order — it has deeply hurt our religious sentiments and mental peace. As followers of the Jain faith, we strictly avoid any kind of non-vegetarian food, and consuming or even being served such items goes completely against our religious principles and beliefs. This incident has caused emotional distress and inner pain, as it directly impacts our spiritual and moral values. We strongly urge that Ontario Health and Safety authorities inspect this matter thoroughly, as such negligence raises serious concerns about food handling and ethical responsibility. The restaurant Bukhara Grill, located at 190 Main Street S, Brampton, should be held fully accountable for this unacceptable act. Strict and immediate action should be taken against those responsible, and proper measures must be implemented to ensure that such incidents never occur again. If Google Reviews had an option to give negative feedback or below one star, I would not hesitate to do so, as this experience has been extremely disappointing, distressing, and unacceptable.

We recently celebrated a birthday party at Bukhara Grill, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. The food was delicious – every dish was flavourful, fresh, and served hot. Our guests kept complimenting the taste and quality. The service was excellent as well: staff were friendly, attentive, and very helpful throughout the event. The place itself is beautiful and clean, with a warm, cozy atmosphere that was perfect for a family birthday party. The hall was nice spacious, and comfortable for all our guests. Overall, we’re very happy we chose Bukhara Grill for our celebration and would highly recommend it for parties and family gatherings. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We would like to share our feedback for the food order placed on Dec 19 for our holiday party at our Mississauga office. The food was absolutely amazing - every dish was delicious, from the appetizers to the main course. We were also very impressed with the professionalism of the Bhukhara Grill team. Ramesh managed the entire order efficiently, and his team members, Kiran and Raman, arrived on time and set everything up smoothly. Their hospitality and service were excellent, and it was a pleasure having them support our event. Highly recommended for both outstanding food and great service!

Today's‍‌‍‍‌ date: 29 November 2025 from 11am–4pm We had a booking for an engagement event for approximately 30-40 people at Bukhara grill. It is my opinion that this is the worst place for any kind of event, and I would never take a second to think about recommending this place to anyone for food. Firstly, in the main course, we had ordered 5 types of bread, but they provided only 1 type of bread, which was so awful that we couldn't eat a single piece of it. Later on, we requested for another kind of bread. They started making excuses like the kitchen was being cleaned and then they just gave us roti, which was even worse. Secondly, our function commenced at 11 am, and they started mojito at 12:10. It was a long one hour in which all our guests were waiting for drinks. Thirdly, initially, they placed a kettle of tea at one side of the hall. The menu included both tea and coffee, but at the beginning, they said that they didn't have coffee and tea was served in plastic cups placed on a counter from which anyone can serve himself. I think if any restaurant is putting plastic cups, then it is embarrassing for the people who are coming as guests. Fourthly, when we booked the event, they said food would be served at the tables, and today they said it's self-serve. Our guests queuing there found no bowls of vegetables. The quantities of food were not sufficient, and their staff members who were supposedly from the buffet were eating food right in front of our guests. It was an awful situation. Fifthly, we plan to have our lunch at 3 pm and immediately after our lunch, we requested 12 cups of fresh tea. One of the staff members said that it was the kitchen cleaning time and that they couldn't provide tea for us. The tea that was in the kettle was freshly made at 11 am, so if things are made 4 hours in advance and are still fresh, then I do not have the words to describe the kind of service they are giving. Sixthly and finally, I can write about them for hours. They did not have clean bowls and knives. Our guests were cleaning all their utensils. I confronted the guy, Kiran, and he was just apologizing, sorry and sorry. I paid them the full amount and just told him thank you, thereby giving another reason not to remember this ‍‌‍‍‌place.

Yelp
Another one of these places I have been driving by for a while that I really wanted to check out. Today was the day. Friday lunch time...was a bit slow...but I have to say that the service and the food was absolutely amazing. We started with Fish Pakora followed by a shared meal of the Seafood Vindaloo, Chef Special and the Goat Vindaloo. See pictures. The flavors were out of this world. I WILL recommend this place to anyone and return soon.

Yelp
Visited Bukhara Grill just recently for the first time. We were a little early for lunch and the staff were still setting the tables for the lunch hour, but the manager immediately rushed over to seat us and apologized for the fact that things were not all ready. The staff was very courteous and polite with us and I was even impressed with the fine way they handled a lady who is not only a regular customer but also a great promoter of the restaurant. We ordered our staple Chicken Tikka (the kabobs - not the curry) and was very impressed not just by the very authentic flavour and taste but the quality. The chunks of well seasoned chicken breast were wonderfully fresh and absolutely perfectly cooked. Very often at some restaurants I have found the chicken overcooked and dry but not here. It was excellent! The naan too was done perfectly. Good enough to eat by itself. The only slight critique would be the decor (hence the 4 stars). It does need freshening up and I feel that with the help of a good interior designer and a small investment in that direction the restaurant would really do well. Definitely going back to try some of the other dishes!

Yelp
You might have to wait a bit if the restaurant is crowded but the food is tasty. Tandoori platter is darn good.

Yelp
Visited for dinner on dec 29 . Right bang in Main Street Brampton. Ample of parking , restaurant interior dull , low lighting , no music , old worn carpets , ceiling looked dangerous , like it could fall anytime , AC ducts rusted right in top of our table . The best thing this restaurant has is great customer service . The hostess was nice humble and welcoming . Professional service standards . When it comes to food I would say okay but our lamb seeks kebabs were smelling stale , on request the server switched it to chicken seeks kebab but by the time we received the order back we were done with our dinner . Dal Bhukhara was average unlike what we get for Great Dal Bhukhara in Maurya Sheraton New Delhi . Food presentation was nice but lacked the right flavours . Fish tikka was bland too . All the 3 stars for the service staff who were cordial and ace in customer service . Billing for 3 people was $67, I would say fairly priced . Owner need to renovate the place and hire chef which can present food with right flavours .

Yelp
Had visited this restaurant on 21st April 2018 and left satisfied having gone there as the food and ambience was good.
