Must-Try Dishes in Tokyo, According to MICHELIN Guide Inspectors

"Pasta as al dente as only dry noodles can be, the sauce rich in the flavour of crustacean and tomatoes. Richard Ginori plateware complements the red of this Italian pasta offering. The japonisme of the plate’s motif, influenced by Imari ware from the Edo period , is rich with meaning." - The MICHELIN Guide

Il Ristorante - Niko Romito

"Contemporary dining in the Bulgari style. The wall, evoking the sunset in Rome, is bedecked with portraits of actresses that made Bulgari famous. Mauro Aloisio runs the kitchen in strict adherence to the culinary philosophy of supervisor Niko Romito, the eminent chef. Simple yet richly flavourful dishes deliver authentic Italian tastes." - Michelin Inspector

I visited at lunchtime in September. I chose the four-course meal. The flavors of the dishes were precise, and I really loved the chef's passion for each dish. The wine list was excellent, including some hard-to-find, famous wines that wine lovers will love. The staff were also kind and polite, and I had a very enjoyable time. The experience was truly moving, exceeding my expectations, with suggestions for cheese to pair with the wine and digestifs to go with dessert. I am so overwhelmed. I would like to return with someone special. Thank you for a wonderful time!

The goods - Service was great (as it should be), pasta was on point and the dessert was surprisingly good for a set lunch, to a point it led me to think whether this restaurant was more like a dessert place.. The meh - vegetable salad was just too underwhelming and honestly, a bit sad to even look at it…it just didn’t belong. And those 3 small pieces of wagyu after the pasta … hmmm.. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I wasn’t quite sure if it was a main or side dish? If I look beyond the smoke and mirrors, the overall menu was fairly basic. The Ingredients, cooking techniques and presentations (as per pictures) didn’t quite match the price tag, let alone the boldness and “taste level” of Bvlgari.

Everything about this place is perfect—I’m officially addicted, especially to their incredible pasta. It’s my new love in Tokyo. The resident chef and restaurant manager are both outstanding, making each visit truly unforgettable.

As always service is impeccable and very attentive. There’s a dress code so no shorts allowed. Children are also not allowed in unless they are guest from the hotel. Not a huge menu but what they do they do very well. Everything is presented flawlessly and the view is also amazing. Had a wonderful time there.

An unforgettable evening unfolded at Niko Romito, tucked high above Tokyo’s glittering skyline ( a week ago). The golden glow of sunset filtered through the windows, casting a soft light over sleek marble tables. Elegant aromas of basil, truffle, and Parmigiano teased the senses the moment we entered. A flute of chilled Prosecco welcomed us, crisp and celebratory. The antipasti arrived: delicate potato bread with tomato soup and other side welcomes. For the main loved dish, handmade tagliolini was excellent. Each dish was a quiet masterpiece, both indulgent and restrained. The service was polished and warm, never overbearing. Tokyo’s lights twinkled below us, mirroring the chandelier’s sparkle overhead. A final espresso brought us gently back to the present. We left full, content, and quietly dazzled by Italian artistry in the heart of Tokio. We even had the chance to talk to the chef and he is a polite Italian targeting to bring top qaulity to the customers. We have now visited quite a lot of Michelin restaurants and this one has one star - but deserves two (at least our opinion). We were not expecting this level of quality outside Italy, really amazing!

Stunning authentic Italian cuisine with a modern twist - freshness of ingredients and a meticulous, almost positive obsession over details that shines through every dish. Some were specifically flown over from Italy. The presentation is equally impressive, with each plate crafted as a work of art. The space itself complements the dining experience with its sophisticated design featuring curved wood ceilings and a serene ambiance. The menu includes refined classics like Antipasto all’Italiana and Cotoletta alla Milanese, demonstrating a perfect balance of simplicity and complexity. Luxurious, sensory-rich Italian dining experience… one of the best I have had in Tokyo, where every detail from ingredient quality to visual presentation is curated to delight.

I have no complaint, especially that I know the chef put a lot of thought on creating recipe that will sit well with human body. We went to get lunch course. And I might come back. I went there with my husband, but I think we had more fun for their afternoon tea than the food.

Such a beautiful space and setting. The good was very good without being amazing, and in comparison to Heritage by Kei that we attended a few days earlier this was a small step down although the prices were higher. A few of dishes were just warm and slightly under seasoned. We also felt the waitress was pushing our drinks a bit too hard. I’m not sure the restaurant matches the ambition of this magnificent location.
