We had dinner here to thank some relatives for their hospitality. We had been staying just down the road, so it was very easy to get to. However, if you are traveling to Burford just for lunch or dinner, parking in the high Street can be quite a challenge.
This is a very cozy establishment that features dining and bar areas and strikes the perfect balance between traditional charm and modern comfort. There is a bit of rustic, a lot of classy, and a general sense of warmth that is amplified by the very welcoming service.
The menu is small but mighty and offers the bounty of the season. The vegetarian options are fairly limited, but the gnocchi was extra delicious--rich and creamy with heaps of umami from a variety of mushrooms, it was a hug in a bowl.
For dessert, I had the sticky toffee pudding, which was amazing. (I specifically requested a single spoon.) The toffee sauce was the perfect balance of bitter and sweet with a touch of salt, and it hit exactly right.
I definitely recommend dining here if you are staying in Burford.
