18 Essential Restaurants to Savor in Savannah

"Bull Street Taco has made Taco Tuesday philanthropic by supporting a local nonprofit every week with specials. Popular a la carte items are the carne asada tacos and the tuna poke tostada, and the quesabirria is a standout special. The Starland neighborhood joint is known for its takeout taco box. Choose two or three protein options — or spiced tempura cauliflower for vegetarians or just really good cauliflower lovers — to be accompanied by handmade corn tortillas, salsas, queso fresco, limes, and jalapenos. And, it’s Savannah, so customers can get their margaritas to go, too." - Elizabeth Bowers

Google
A gem of a place just outside of downtown. Delicious, adorable + great neighborhood vibes. I had gotten into town later than expected and found this place while looking for dinner. Lovely server named Beth took care of me and all of the staff were so kind. Sat outside and snagged a mojo chicken bowl and a Topo Chico. Will probably end up here again before I leave town!

Google
Delicious Mojo rice bowl and chicken burrito! Great guacamole. Service was friendly but elusive. Outdoor dining was fun for people watching.

Google
I said to my brother* is everyone here gorgeous?! 😆 1st time and I was unsure about what to order but AJ put me all the way in the game with her recommendations. Came in on a Taco 🌮 Tuesday, so that's what I had with chips and salsa. Everything was excellent and will definitely be back in the future. Brother said the Premium margarita was a little weak but we're accustomed to the finer things in life. 😉 Spiced it up a tad and was better. THANK YOU SO MUCH AJ! See you later! 🫶🏽

Google
Food was very good. Wife had the chorizo bowl and it was almost enough for two. I had a chicken taco and a Baja fish taco (both flour) - both were amazingly tasty. Fairly good size for the location, has bar, inside, patio, and street seating (street was great for people watching - eclectic neighborhood). Wife said her margarita was good, and she's very picky about them. My draft Dos Equis Amber came with a lime wedge and was very refreshing on a warm, muggy day.

Google
Food was delicious! Trendy little spot to grab a bite to eat. Atmosphere and decor were on point. Queso was so good and a great starter to share. We ordered the tacos and they did not disappoint! I ordered the chicken ,Baja. Fish, and carnitas with a side of red rice. Wow! I wish this was local to me because it would definitely be a regular. Staff were friendly, food was exceptional and the vibe was awesome. Put this on your places to eat !

Mitchell Rosen

Google
The queso was out of this world. We all did the street tacos. Everybody enjoyed them. My only critique was the carnitas was a little too fatty for my liking.

Jen J

Google
Nice staff, good patio. Delicious cocktail, albeit pricey. Food is average and not worth a special trip.Tuna bowl was sparse on protein and not filling. Vegan pinto beans were delicious and would order again. Guacamole app bowl was bitter - avos not ripe.

Google
Best local taco place in Savannah hands down. We sat at the bar and had excellent and quick service. I highly recommend the guac, and the poke tostada. The chips for the guac were outstanding!

Yelp
Surprisingly delicious! Friends and I came here on a Monday evening for dinner around 8, and were seated immediately (parked on the street). Waitress informed us of $5 house margaritas on Mondays, so my sister and I enjoyed those. It was really good. We started with the guacamole (pistachio on the side) and it was good. (It wasn't traditional guac but still could have used salt and a little lime.) I got the cauliflower taco and the Mary Moon Bowl. They were both delicious and flavorful. My sister got the Banh Mi bowl and she loved it. I'll definitely be back to try the other bowls and margaritas. :)

Yelp
Found this place by chance and the food did not disappoint. Highly recommend. 4 out of 5 based on drink prices.

Yelp
Heard from locals in Savannah that Bull Street Taco was a good option for Mexican food. They are off the beaten trail in a neighborhood with several other new, fresh restaurants. We sat outside on a covered patio that was also pet friendly. The staff was gracious in getting the dogs bowls of water. We ordered the chips and salsa that were very tasty and with a bit of a bite. Obviously, we ordered tacos: braised pork and pickled pineapple (great), chorizo, cotija, chipolte crema and potato (fair), red chili tempura cauliflower with basil crema, chili, toasted sesame (great), Chum's taco with seasoned ground beef, cotija, El Toro sauce and shredded, lettuce (supper salty and not able to eat). The waiter was generous and removed the Chum taco from our bill. I found dining at Bull Street Taco to be average. The tacos were limited with portions of ingredients and not much WOW factor. I don't see us trying them again.

Yelp
Disappointing experience at Bull Street Taco this week. Corn tortillas fell completely apart after one bite leaving a mess. Had to eat the tacos with a fork after that. Had iced tea then got hit with $3.75 for a refill. Wanted a little salsa. They charged $3.75 for salsa. Never heard of that before. They just gave us a little and wanted another $3.75 for more. The taco meat, pork, beef, and chicken were all hard and dry. Not a place I would want to eat at again.

Yelp
One of our most favorite places to dine in Savannah. Inside and outside seating, both very comfortable. Service is excellent, and the food is awesome. They have a full menu with lots of options. The tacos are really delicious, and they also have bowls which are also very yummy. My favorite is the Mary Moon Bowl which is vegan. It has about 15 different ingredients. I highly recommend it.
google avatar

Yelp
Love this spot for light/healthier Mexican fare. Portions aren't huge so recommend getting an app as well if you're hungry. Their house margaritas are our favorite in town- strong and high quality! And Mondays they are $5 which gives us the perfect excuse to stop in during the week. Had a great time sitting at their beautiful bar area.

Yelp
Stopped here on the way out of Savannah for some road trippin lunch. Ordered online and it was ready on time. Staff I dealt with briefly was friendly and efficient. Restaurant is nice. Inside isn't too big - didn't see a lot of tables - but they also have a covered out door patio. Assume it's dog friendly, but not positive. I ordered the mojo chicken bowl minus the pineapple. I enjoyed it a lot, but didn't love it. Let's just say it was delicious but I have also had better Mexican bowls. It may just be that I tasted the heat from the jalapeños more than the mojo, so maybe it was a balance issue. Regardless, I wasn't remotely disappointed and I did enjoy my lunch. I'd come back and try something else.

Yelp
Super duper delicious. Bull street taco has everything you need to satisfy your taco or Mexican cravings. Very courteous & friendly service, quick to deliver and fresh looking food. Ambiance is pretty too with its quirky boho vibe.

Yelp
I am a somewhat regular at this restaurant and I am disappointed with my last experience FIRST our waiter seem to not want to be there. Also, I was surprised when I added for more soft drink to find that the refills are billable who ever heard of that in today's time, I was charged $3.75 for each drink- needless to say we all have choices on where to eat and lackluster service and this ridiculous charge will probably make this restaurant not on my rotation anymore

Kirk S.

Yelp
This place used to be good. Last two times , not so much. Both burritos my spouse had were bad- Bull street burrito with streak the first time, meet so fatty- could eat it. Changed to the carnitas the second time, again very fatty cuts of meat - but at the dms time the actual meat was hard and dry. My tacos we'd sub par- the chick men was super dry, and the Chum seemed like the ground beef was cooked at 8 am and sat under heat until evening. The cauliflower taco was very good. The waiter offered to get some thing else to replace the burrito- but we didn't feel like we wanted to roll the dice. He didn't offer to take anything off the bill. The cocktails are good, will give them that.

Yelp
Val at the bar was awesome!!!! The Mezcal selection will make you want to try several drinks. The Quac is to die for!

Yelp
Love this spot. Highly recommend the guacamole here, steak and shrimp tacos. Perfect ambiance for lunch, or spot with friends!

Yelp
So much depth in one taco / great happy hour deals if you catch it at the right time. 10/10 recommend

Yelp
If you want great tacos and service that goes above and beyond, this is the spot. I have been coming to Bull Street Taco for a few years now and not once have I had an item that was a "miss". Their drinks are incredibly refreshing and they go out of their way to use tons of different flavors in menu items. My personal favorite tacos are the cauliflower, fish, chicken and Chum's, but you really can't go wrong here. The burrito is also good and a decent portion.
google avatar

Natasha N.

Yelp
Great in/out door place to sit. The menu is fantastic and so delicious, options are diverse and taste and representation is most appealing. Highly recommended taco place, that service not only tacos but local beers, and ales!
google avatar

Sara M.

Yelp
The staff is super friendly and attentive. The menu has options for all diets and allergies. Being pescatarian, there were tons of options for us and the tacos were fresh, delicious, and balanced. I had the tune poke tostada and the shrimp taco. Both were VERY good. Solid Mexican food with a great staff made a stellar experience.

Yelp
Bull Street Taco is not our only go to Mexican restaurant in Savannah, but it's a great spot for tacos in the downtown area! My husband & I have been here for lunch twice. We always start with Chips & Salsa, as you also should! Their margs are refreshing & a must if you're looking for an adult bev. We've become big fans of the Baja Fish & Red Chile Tempura Cauliflower Tacos. We recently discovered the Micholada Shrimp Taco & that one too is very tasty. The Street Taco Combo is a great way to try a few, so would recommend ordering if you can't decide on just one. See photo attached for a visual from our last visit. Love the option to sit outside or inside. Staff were kind & efficient. It's a bit of a stretch, but we've made the walk here form Forsyth Park, if you're looking for an excuse to order Churros or an extra marg. We'll be back!
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
The Tacos were good. We tried carnitas, fish, and the house special. The side dishes are very small. Iced tea is charged per glass. It is very loud. The location is close to the park, but away from the tourist area, and we find this a plus.
google avatar

Emily W.

Yelp
AMAZING tacos, fantastic margs, & great service! This is a must if visiting Savannah. Hoping to be back sometime soon! I got a taco plate with a carnitas, chicken, and a chorizo taco. All were fabulous!
google avatar

Sonja S.

Yelp
Food was great! We had the mojo chicken bowl and a couple of street tacos. The food came out pretty quickly. Everything tasted very fresh. Our server, Erica, was friendly and attentive. The restaurant is located in an area with a lot of SCAD buildings and students, so it was nice and vibrant. The weather was warm, and the patio was perfect. We will be back.
google avatar

Yelp
Bull Street Taco's vibe was decent and $5 margarita Mondays make it a decent spot for food and drink. For a group of friends this spot is your casual taco spot but tbh I only liked the Chips and Guac. You get a selection of 3 tacos and none of them really impressed me. The bowl was aight, the tacos were aight but being from California I'm a bit spoiled but I don't think any would hold up on the West Coast. The only saving grace were the chips and guacamole which was a nice flavor, but everything else was middling. Oh and the $5 margaritas were nice but that's about it.
google avatar

Chris T.

Yelp
We were looking for a place to eat and just happened upon this gem of a place. We got there right when they opened and sat on the patio. Service was excellent and everything we ordered was delicious. The guac was different than any I've ever had with toasted pistachios and radishes. Since we weren't familiar with Savannah, we got lucky picking this place but would surely visit again!

Julie V.

Yelp
Food was good but overpriced extra salsa and sides. Meats were too salty! Service was good and friendly! Double check your receipt as $15 for extra salsa was a rip off!
google avatar

Charles C.

Yelp
Bull Street Taco is a cool place with great service and a pleasant vibe. It's got a lot going for it. Everything except (sadly) for their tacos. My main gripe is their corn tortillas aren't good. They should be homemade (which isn't hard) but weren't even grilled or steamed, leaving them dry and brittle making them less appetizing and falling apart. The fillings also had problems. The chicken was overcooked, the beef was too salty, the fish wasn't fresh, and the tempura-battered cauliflower wasn't a tempura batter and was over breaded and deep fried far too long. On the plus side, their salads are great, their chips and salsa and queso were solid, and I liked their drinks. If they could just up-level their prep and execution on the tacos, I'd be sold.
google avatar

Monica M.

Yelp
Guac is good the smoke and fire drink was good the taco's carnitas without pineapple and the carne asada was good. When we go back I would order drinks then wait then guac then wait then tacos one at a time... every thing comes out so quickly

Julie P.

Yelp
Delicious! Bit pricey but great location and everything is always good. Nice vibe. Delicious drinks.
google avatar

Dee A.

Yelp
Can't really speak on the ambiance because I did an online order and drove there to pick it up. However, it must be a popular spot because they were busy and from what I could tell it was really cute inside. As for the food it was deliciosa! My husband and I had the street corn, rice and beans, queso, chicken and carnitas tacos. The corn had the right amount of toppings so you could really appreciate all the complex flavors without being over powered by one in particular...which typically is the mayo. The rice and beans were wonderfully seasoned. We absolutely devoured the tacos. The pickled onions and pickled pineapples were a delightful addition to the chicken and carnitas tacos...who knew?!!! The queso was rich and sinfully creamy! Overall, we couldn't be more please and will certainly go back.

Yelp
Bull Street Taco is a cute neighborhood taco restaurant with a large patio and sitting on the sidewalk. We had our pup with us so we sat on the sidewalk. When we sat down, our friendly server, came over to greet us and take our drink order. We got water and I ordered the Mezcal margarita mixed with jalapeños. It was fantastic, refreshing with a side of spice. Since they don't have the drip queso we got a queso fundido with fried cauliflower. It was terrific, but I still love drip queso more. We shared a bowl street taco combo which is your choice of three of their tacos. We selected Baja fried fish and carnitas. Then we also ordered the poke tuna tostadas, which ended up being my favorite part of the meal. The tostada had their delicious guacamole on it with some cabbage and delicious spicy sauce, along with ten little pieces of tuna. We also got a side of their slaw. We were very full at the end of our meal and walked into the Stump plant shop.
google avatar

Shweta S.

Yelp
Love the vibe at this place!! But remember to go early as they have a wait time and only allow walk ins The cauliflower taco and falafel taco are perfect for vegetarians and are out of the world!!! Paired it with their $5 Monday margaritas and it was a fun Monday evening We also loved their baked queso and chips. Definitely coming back for taco tuesdays
google avatar

Gay F.

Yelp
We sat at the new bar and had Mattie wait on us. She had excellent recommendations based on what we were interested in ordering for food. We ordered the queso dip, guac, and street corn split. Absolutely delicious!!! She also made phenomenal drinks! We will definitely come back. The new bar area is beautiful. We loved the bar, back bar, and artwork. This is a great addition to the original Bull Street Taco. Well done! We are local to the Wilmington Island area, but will come into town to support local businesses that are this yummy! Bonus - We loved Stump next door. Bought some great plants too!
google avatar

Yelp
This was one of the most recommended spots in Savannah and now we know why! Off the beaten path from downtown, sits this cute little taco shop. Their menu is a mix of authentic and unique tacos and classic sides. We got the delicious elote corn which was rolled in an aioli and topped with queso fresco and spices. One of the best elotes I've had in awhile. For tacos we tried the carnitas and fried Baja fish tacos which were topped with pineapple and a homemade slaw. The tortillas had delicious corn flavor and didn't fall apart. We wanted to try everything on the menu so we can't wait to go back and visit!
google avatar

Chris L.

Yelp
I'll start by saying I've been going here for years and never had a bad experience. I took some friends here tonight that haven't been here before. The only things we expected to be cold were our drinks. All of our tacos, as well as our queso were cold. While we did get there at maybe 9:15(ish) at the latest, I didn't expect to pay $100 for food we didn't even eat. Very disappointed
google avatar

Lindsay S.

Yelp
I'm currently addicted to the Bull Street Tacos street corn cob and cannot get enough - like so obsessed I had it 3x in one weekend. A delicious sweet corn on a stick coated with ancho chile, lime, basil crema and TONS of cotija! I'd also highly recommend the chicken tacos, which also have the basil crema and cotija - YUM! The best thing about BST is that their food is always consistent. I love their outside dining option. With the weather changing they've added heaters!
google avatar

Dorothy J.

Yelp
Although the tocos look delicious, They are mediocre! I wouldn't recommend this place. Our server was very uptight and we tipped her just because we're good humans and she snatched the tip from my husband's hand and walked off. My Ancestors had to hold my hand. Rude server mediocre food !! RUN!!
google avatar

Ocean D.

Yelp
This is a decent place. It's not BAD per say, but it's definitely not my favorite. The service and ambience are all great, with even the place being really small and cramped, you wouldn't know that until you stay in here for a minute. I'm writing the review a few months after being here, and it's still incredibly memorable, although it wasn't my favorite place for food. I usually like flavorful food that punches you in the face with flavor, and this restaurant does just that. The thing is though, at least from what I ordered, the food wasn't the best. I couldn't finish it despite not eating all day, and I can recall the taste of the food, only one of them was something that I wish I could make at home. My friends finished their food and loved it though, so it's probably just me. They weren't full (despite what the price tag would suggest) and we needed to go to Wendy's later to feel full; I just ate at home though. It's a good place don't get me wrong, but my experience felt only fine.
google avatar

Aybige K.

Yelp
The place is very popular as their food is awesome. Kudos to the lovely hostess who worked tirelessly with the crowd trying to get a table for the dinner, despite heavy rain that day. Our food was delicious as expected. The churros we had after dinner were divine.
google avatar

David G.

Yelp
If you tire of the hoards of tourist spots teaming with the crushing pressure to relax.....GO To Bull Street Taco. BST is far enough away to be mostly a locals spot.....a GREAT local spot. Amazing Tacos on killer Tortillas ( that is how I judge any taco PERIOD!). I am not vegan/Vegi but their tempura cauliflower could make me a convert. Amazing Carnitas. Good fried fish taco. Great premium margs. Fantastic Guac with freshly fried chips. Great music: Any resto that plays Axis Bold as Love is Aces in my book. Dog Friendly. Great indoor outdoor seating. Reasonable prices. Go

Susan A.

Yelp
Love the upbeat vibe..The tacos were good. However, the queso was a little on the creamy vs cheesy side.

Jim H.

Yelp
We ordered fish tacos. I would not recommend they reminded me of frozen fish patty in a wrap. Service was just ok. Wait staff never came back to the table to see if we needed anything. The ambiance of this restaurant is marginal. Poor parking. We will not return!
google avatar

Vicky F.

Yelp
Got sat at the bar (which was fine) but we were ignored for 10min+ before someone decided to ask what we want. Everything was extremely salty, very unfortunate as we were excited to try everything. The street corn chicken taco was the best thing (because the corn balanced out how salty the chicken was) but everything else was just prompting you to chug water..
google avatar

Catherine B.

Yelp
Yummy Yummy Yummy! fantastic and fresh fish tacos. amazingly good street corn. hibiscus tea to die for.. what's not to love?
google avatar

Olivia T.

Yelp
Servers are kind and love sitting outside. The salsa is good but the chips are really thick. The tacos just aren't amazing to me. I also had the poke salad which was much better just was still hungry after.
google avatar

Colette G.

Yelp
Came here because my daughter who lives in area loves it. It was good. Not great, but good. I was disappointed that the Margarita I ordered apparently was not part of $5 special. I would not have had two of them at $12 a pop. Our seating was awful on the sidewalk with cars parked on street right next to us. We took the table because the ones inside and outdoor seating area next to the restaurant there was still a long wait for. We had already been waiting 40 minutes. I like other Mexican places in Savannah better, so I would not come back by my choice. But I'm sure I will be back, because as I mentioned my daughter loves it here. So maybe just a bad day. That said the tacos had fresh ingredients. Maybe it would be better experience in another dining area. Our server was less than nice, and less than attentive. Maybe just a bad day for him.
google avatar

Latricia J.

Yelp
I just keep going back for more the ingredients are so fresh taste is all that !!!!!I'm going until I've tried at least everything on the menu.....hurry go !!! Go!!! Go
google avatar

Rachael N.

Yelp
Update: they DID bring back the Cherry limeade margarita. and it's F*n perfect. I feel like it should be named "Stilettoz Margarita" in my honor. Also, Morgan is still perfect. Good luck on your next adventure! We will miss you! -Sincerely the next Bull St Taco spokesperson
google avatar

Mundi M.

Yelp
Such a fun place and delicious tacos! I had shrimp, chicken and fish and enjoyed every single bite! Also the hibiscus tea was super refreshing on a very hot summer day. I sat at the bar with a great view of many many different types of tequila and beer. The staff was super friendly and over all excellent lunch. Great atmosphere, friendly service and tasty food. You can't go wrong! PS: I would have shared a pic, but I was so hungry it was gone before I remembered!

Allison K.

Yelp
This place is GREAT!! The service is top-notch and the food is SO tasty! I always have a tough time deciding which tacos to have and what number margarita to stop at
google avatar

Nicole V.

Yelp
Loved this place, especially that it was pet friendly and our server, Caleb, even brought a bowl out for my pup. We were walking Forsynth park and was in need of a cold drink. He recommended the Shandy ($10) and so glad I listened! It was a a mix between the Pacifico and a margarita, delicious! As for the tacos, we got the trio combo ($14) and mixed proteins.

Nick P.

Yelp
Had a tortilla salad and my wife had a special, cowboy burrito. Salad was good, burrito was nice, had some interesting flavors to it. Unfortunately I got hives within an hour of eating dinner, can't say for sure it was the food, but that's my guess. Wife was fine, so more likely just a personal reaction to the peppers or spices used.
