I got the smoked salmon sandwich for breakfast/lunch so it was fairly empty when I went. The food was really good, but the atmosphere really sells the place. The large entrance allows for a nice, cool breeze. Since there wasn’t a lot of traffic and honking going on in the street, the steady hum of cars mixed with their 2010’s pop ambient music made it a calm, pleasant experience. I can see myself coming back here often. I’ll definitely bring friends and family here when they visit. Great place overall.

Google
This bagel shop has excellent bagel sandwiches. The bagels are fresh and soft. That must be why they sell out of their most popular ones by around noon. When we walked in they only had plain and everything bagels left. But that was just fine because the amount of meat and quality of the meat made my tummy happy. Oh and the hummus is tasty with a robust flavor. If you ask nicely they may sell you some to take home! The customer service is awesome but there usually is a bit of a wait. Good food takes time!!!

Google
What a great find! Don't let the chaotic storage of the interior fool you; this is a serious bagel spot! Perfect texture: crip on the outside, soft on the inside. 😋 Hubby got a salt bagel with plain cream cheese, tomato and cucumber. I ordered off the sandwich board. They have an in-house smoked salmon, but swapped fir the onion and chive cream cheese and added cucumber 👌 Fantastic 😋

Google
This place looks nice from the outside and has potential to be big BUT , the staff is incompetent. Lady taking the orders had to rewrite a turkey bacon egg and cheese, egg and bacon, and sausage egg and cheese 3 times because she was confused about wich bagel went to what order. Then she wrote it wrong and sent wrong order to kitchen. When I got my food they gave me bacon and turkey slices instead of turkey bacon on the sandwiches, something that should of been 30 bucks ended up being 50 dollars. They got nice cold brew ! Their bathroom is disgusting and it looks like either they opened a week ago or they stopped caring about the place. Never coming back

Google
We went here as a recommendation from our AirBnB host, and ended up going back twice! Easy atmosphere, kid friendly, fast, delicious; I highly recommend the HAS sandwich - absolutely fab. My 9-year old says: be sure to get a glass bottle of apple juice too!

Google
Great bagels - use fried egg on the bacon egg and cheese instead of scramble but still solid. Bagels are soft on the inside and very flavorful. Love the self serve coffee bar. Wasn’t that bad crowd wise around 9am on a Saturday . One of the better bagels in the district

Google
The bagels were not bad once I got the right bagels. They messed my order up twice... And it was only for two bagels and they couldn't get that right. Hmm.

Google
Order # 35 this morning….Second time purchasing a bacon egg Swiss cheese bagel with pepper and completely dissatisfied again. Bagel was small and not sure where the bacon went to. My photo shows an almost empty breakfast sandwich. I’m from NY and people from DC told me to go to bullfrog for a breakfast sandwich similar to NY LMGABECWSP and I definitely did not get what I wanted. Tried for the second time and sadly disappointed. Each time I couldn’t return the bagel b/c I had to go to work and had no additional time to give for a complaint. Idk, I will try one more time but if this happens again…I’m done. WERE IS THE PORK!!! Sorry, but I need to be transparent…

Yelp
We went on a great day for almost no wait. I had a salmon blt on pumpernickel. It was really good. I do wish they would toast the bread a little more but still a great sandwich.
google avatar

Yelp
Had another great bagel sandwich take out. The sausage, egg and cheese sandwich is devine and delicious and the portuguese type sausage they use made the sandwich the best. I also grabbed a plain bagel with roasted jalapeno spread for later. Service is friendly and good, prices decent, menu selection great and food delicious. I did notice if you want your bagel sliced you have to tell them upfront.

Yelp
Came here on vacation and our Airbnb host recommended this place!! It was delicious. I ordered the #2 (bacon, egg and cheese) on salt. Sadly, they were out of salt bagels already (it was 8:45 am). I was super disappointed, since it was a weekday. I got it on a sesame bagel instead. The service was so fast. There's no seating inside, keep that in mind. The business next door has outdoor seating that you can use, since it's a sister shop.

Yelp
Consistent and tasty spot! There's always a line, but you can order ahead and you can dine in as well. Not fancy, and kinda old school diner vibe for dining in!
google avatar

Nicole L.

Yelp
Bullfrog is one of the first bagel shops to pop up on the scene, surviving the pandemic and still remain h solid. I have no complaints about anything I ever ordered. As a native New Yorker I know quality bagels and Bullfrog upholds my standard. My sesame bagel with salmon cream cheese hit the spot! It wasn't very busy so I was served rather quickly! Parking can be a nightmare at times but i scored a close parking spot and was in and out like a light. I recommend Bullfrog!
google avatar

Yelp
Bagels are tasty but service is crappy. Staff give off vibes like you're inconveniencing them or interrupting their conversations by ordering and then mess up orders.

Yelp
I was in this area early and needed some breakfast. I initially walked by and it smelled tremendous, but I was on my way to another establishment for breakfast, when they didn't have what I wanted I came back here. I ordered the bacon, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel. It was delicious and filling. The only negative is they don't sell any breakfast drinks (hot chocolate, the coffee wasn't made, or orange juice). They do sell tea bags. All in all, I would come back when I'm near this area again.

Yelp
News flash! Bullfrog makes pumpernickel-everything bagels. Pumpernickel fans, our ship has arrived. They're sensational.
google avatar

Yelp
Simply delish and love that it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Delicious options for bagels and always a nice staff
google avatar

Gaurav A.

Yelp
This location has messed up my order twice. On one occasion they were unapologetic and the second time, I couldn't contact them. The staff is very rude and don't want to take any responsibility or accountability for their mistake. Avoid at all costs!

Yelp
I just LOVE this place and been meaning to update my STARS to 5 because it's well deserved. Also, I know I been here way over 100 times but I forget to check in every time

Yelp
Smoke turkey egg and cheese on an Asiago cheese bagel. Very fresh smoked Turkey as well as bagel! Egg was cooked perfectly as well

LaSha B.

Yelp
Go to breakfast sandwich spot. Solid customer service especially when you're on the go.

Yelp
Every time I order or come in the food is SO GOOD! The bagelwiches are all so good, the honey walnut cream cheese is the best and the orange juice they have is fresh and tasty. When you come in, they're quick and friendly and it's a relaxed environment.

Yelp
I've gotten takeout here a couple times. All I really want is a a good egg breakfast sandwich or a nice whitefish salad. My fallback Bethesda Bagels on Dupont's been dead for a while, so I gave them a try. The menu's pretty solid - you got all those classics, and some unique farings like brisket or their own house pastrami. On paper everything's amazing. But in practice everything was underwhelming. Untoasted bagels is one thing, but both my orders months apart tasted an hour away from stale. The whitefish salad had a damn landmine full of capers at a random part of the sandwich - forget not being evenly mixed, you go about this wrong and you get a bite of nothing but salt. The sausage link looked and tasted like it'd been boiled in water with zero char or crispiness. I appreciate a DC staple when I see one, but this ain't it. Gonna stick to Pearl's or Call Your Mother.

Roslyn R D.

Yelp
The environment is robotic lacking customer appreciation and recognition of returning and or new customers.

Yelp
Today was not a good day at bullfrog bagels on H. My partner and I are consistent patrons of bullfrog bagels, but today our experience was not good at all. I went to pick up my partner's bagel and I was met with quality customer service, and attention. The problem lies in the food itself. My partner decided to eat the bagel for lunch so we did not realize any problems until then once they had began eating, they realize the bacon was a little chewy. It prompted hey search of the bagel to our unfortunate surprise the bacon was uncooked. My partner at this point had eaten 75% of the bagel and was in shock and horror once they took a look at the meat. We tried to call and report what we saw to the restaurant. They were not open which has now resulted in this review. The only reason I am giving bullfrog bagels. Two stars is because we have previously had great experiences here but today, as I have stated was not a good day. I would've appreciated if bullfrog bagels took more care and more attention today when it came to preparing their bagels. I fear for my partner's GI & we can only pray that they will not contract a parasite or anything other. It was genuinely a horrifying experience eating today. I hope they can fix whatever problem is in the kitchen. All the best!

Yelp
I get bullfrog almost weekly and I always love it. My preferred pick is the bialy sandwich with sausage, chive cream cheese, and egg.

Dawn R.

Yelp
Order the gumbo. It's good, I add a bit of hot sauce. It works as a hearty breakfast or a fantastic lunch. Fresh shrimp, and sausage and chicken. The bagel/bialy sandwiches are are also fantastic and I indulge regularly.
google avatar

Cheryl B.

Yelp
What a lovely day! I had a hunch this would be a wonderful place to stop and grab a bite to eat! Love these family owned businesses! The bagel was fresh and yummy just like you imagine. The seating outside was lovely. I'm so glad I ventured out on my own to capture the sights, sounds and flavors of this wonderful little neighborhood!! Hope you can pop by!
google avatar

Wilson H.

Yelp
This review represents the quality of the food. It is good and if you can pick it up yourself I recommend it. However, this place is clearly being targeted by thieves on Seamless, DoorDash and similar services. I have had many orders stolen from Bullfrog en route to my apartment. Do not order delivery from this restaurant if you want to get your food.
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
I used this location to give Bullfrog a second try, and was quite disappointed. I waited in line for quite a while, not because the place was that busy, but because the guy at the register was chatting up the customer in front of me at great length while I and eventually others waited. Some of the other staff were working hard, but I wasn't the only one dissatisfied with the wait time, and business-while present-certainly wasn't to a level of crowding that would justify it. They were just inefficient, which is bad for a breakfast place. In substance, I'm still not wildly impressed. The bagel flavors are finite and not really special; I like whole wheat and veggie-based bagel flavors (jalapeno, tomato, etc.), but they don't do those things. They do make nice, if overpriced hummus. However, the bialy, the one really interesting thing they do make, was not as delicious here as when I tried it at the other location; just white bread-y without a ton of flavor. When I compare on size, choice, taste, and other aspects of what I think make a good bagel shop, I've had better on every count.
google avatar

Mindy Y.

Yelp
Pricey Filipino food - nice presentation and yummy, but pricey (maybe because it's the Midwest girl in me)
google avatar

Daryll B.

Yelp
The pricing issues detailed below have been fixed. They still make from scratch one of the best bagels in the city. The bagel sandwiches are still fantastic too. They have taken over the bar next door and have rebranded it "Bullfrog Bar." I cannot wait to have a neat Grand Marnier with a sesame bagel and cream cheese. Nice recovery from a place I use to love, vowed to never return, and made up with again. The "make up" bagel was the best ever. The customer service has also improved. I have now given up coffee but the reports from other patrons is that the coffee is good. Four stars is my updated rating. I tip my hat to the managers and owners. Keep up the good baking!!!
google avatar

Molly B.

Yelp
Really liked these bagels! The texture of the bagel itself was good - if you prefer a squishier bagel, this is definitely the place for you! The Corned Beef, Egg, + Cheese was piled high with corned beef which I loved, and the flavor of the whole sandwich was great. Would highly recommend!

Yelp
I went with boyfriend after going to the Eastern Market. It was packed going in, but there were two lines: one to order and one to pick up. You could just get a bagel or get a bagel sandwich. They seem to be known more for their bagel sandwich, so we got a scrambled egg sausage bagel sandwich. There were about six tables upstairs where you can sit, but they were packed. You can also sit at the counters upstairs, but there were no free chairs. Walking down there, I saw chairs stacked up on top of each other, so I guess if you really want to sit, you could bring the chair up the stairs. For the price, the bagel was good. There is nothing special about the ingredients themselves and I thought they could have made the bagel a lot warmer, but we were satisfied with the overall sandwich. Yes, it can be pretty messy, but if you are eating with someone that you enjoy, who cares.

Daphne T.

Yelp
Great customer service and delicious bagels! They've got plenty of options for breakfast sandwiches.
google avatar

Nishan H.

Yelp
Fresh food and nice staff. I get a breakfast sandwich every Friday morning here! One of my favorites on H St.
google avatar

Wyatt G.

Yelp
Bullfrog Bagels is completely acceptable. They have a normal range of choices from salmon to bacon, egg, and cheese. The bagels are decent quality although they only have a handful of varieties to choose from. I got the sausage, egg, and cheese on whole wheat. It was warm, took ten minutes to be ready, and all around hit the spot. It wasn't top notch or creative, and for the price I expect a bit more or for it to cost $1.50 less.
google avatar

Shamara H.

Yelp
First time here and Bullfrog Bagels did not disappoint. Great service! Line moved fast, friendly staff, and the breakfast bagel was DELICIOUS!
google avatar

Milton P.

Yelp
Had to try the Filipino food because my grandkids wanted to compare it to their grandma's cooking. We were delighted that the food was delicious and exceeded even grandma's expectations. The kids loved the calamari lumpia adobo pancit pork belly salmon with garlic rice and Biko for dessert. Will definitely be returning. Service is friendly and outstanding. Best part is the chef's from Mindinao. One of best nights out.
google avatar

Morgan F.

Yelp
They're bagels are the best in DC idc what anyone says. Their everything bagels are everything! I got the pastrami egg sandwich and it was so good! Melted in my mouth like butter. Wish they had a NW location!

M G.

Yelp
Lived in DC for 5 years, have ordered here dozens of times. They are physically incapable of toasting a bagel or putting an appropriate amount of cream cheese on. After the 17282nd time ordering here I can't do it anymore.
google avatar

Sam A.

Yelp
The bagels are fine, but it's a bit disappointing that they decline to toast bagels and are stingy with the quantity of lox and schmear.
google avatar

Jieun Y.

Yelp
Closest thing to NY style bagels in DC in my opinion. Nice texture, and good variety of flavors. Their classic salmon lox bagel is very good. I like their onion and everything bagels, you can buy a dozen and freeze them. They can be easily toasted. They have a variety of bagel sandwiches.
google avatar

Rick R.

Yelp
Even though tbe everything bagel was low on salt it was so good.. crispy outside soft inside.. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Joseph L.

Yelp
Okay. I can't rate the food because we were not able to try it. The water was good. After we sat ourselves, the sever brought us a menu. We waited 30 minutes while one server literally conversed with exiting customers for 10 minutes about traveling. Then, another couple who sat down when we did, received menus, coffee, and then their bagel sandwiches. So, that server at least worked for them. I had high hopes to try the gumbo and Irish coffee for brunch, driving specifically into DC for the experience. It's too bad that we couldn't cinch the deal. By the way, the problem wasn't just ours. About 10 minutes before we left Another couple who had been abandoned, had also left. I'm not sure how these guys stay in business.
google avatar

Norris S.

Yelp
Got here at around 920 in the morning with my girlfriend and kids. We all went up to the counter and read from the menu. The service people about 3 feet away from the counter. I stepped up to give my order. No greeting, not even an acknowledgment of my presence. I asked if I could order and they told me I could place my order in 15 minutes. The kids went outside to play while I took a seat. Almost 30 minutes later I was asked if they could take my order. Fortunately, I had ordered online just after sitting down and could see my order in the queue. I'm glad I didn't wait. I understand that things get busy and that workers can get behind. But a small amount of manners helps a lot in customer understanding.
google avatar

Trey H.

Yelp
Bagels are fantastic. Customer service--not so much. Today, I offered to cater an office breakfast, so when they only put half the order into a large bag stapled shut--I only noticed their mistake when I got to my office. When I called, I was given two options: bike all the way back to the store to pick up the bagels or get refunded for the 6 bagels. Missing from the options was their using one of the five food delivery services connected to their website to make the order right. After biking back, grabbing the bag with the rest of my bagels stacked on top of each other, it wasn't until I was back in the office and removing the bagels that I found out they AGAIN forgot a bagel. I got a call from a "manager" and again---instead of offering to make this right--he argued with me saying I should have just taken a refund....... Bullfrog owners: please offer better options to make things right (i.e. use your delivery service instead of making me bike several miles back to your store)--and train your managers and staff better customer service skills.
google avatar

Erin P.

Yelp
I order from here all the time on Uber Eats - it's our weekend treat. The bagels are not too big and not too small: the size is just enough. I always get the egg and cheese bagel with avocado, and my boyfriend usually gets the turkey, egg, and cheese bagel and we always enjoy. Pro-tip: I order the plain bagel and put Trader Joe's everything seasoning inside the sandwich: same everything bagel flavors but no mess! Plus you can enjoy the chewier texture of the plain bagel. These sandwiches are fresh and always hit the spot.

Diane H.

Yelp
When I went in this morning at 8:00 am on 7/25/2023 I saw a mouse run across the floor. Mice on H street is getting out of control and these business should be calling an exterminator. The city should also do something about the huge mice presence on H street.
google avatar

Pam L.

Yelp
I come from North Jersey and im very accustomed to Jersey / New York style bagels. Oftentimes establishments tout their bagels as New York style but they are not. I loved the bagels that I got from bullfrog. I ordered for delivery through GrubHub because I broke my ankle. They were here in less than 30 minutes and the bagels were hot!! I couldn't believe it. They offer vegan bagels which I also love. I would say they are just as good , if not better than Go call your mother which seems to be the gold standard these days. Bullfrog is also less expensive. I highly recommend bullfrog No photo available because I scarfed it down.lol next time I order I'll update with a photo
google avatar

Austin G.

Yelp
It took me awhile to come around to Bullfrog Bagels and it still doesn't compare with a NYC bagel, but for DC, it's not bad. This location is its original location and has a few seats at the window table to enjoy your breakfast there. However, most people get their bagel to go. Here are a few favorites: - Sesame bagel with honey walnut cream cheese if you have a sweet tooth. - Everything bagel with jalapeno cream cheese if you like savory. They also sell coffee, but I recommend grabbing a bagel here and getting your coffee at nearby Maketto.
google avatar

Benjamin P.

Yelp
This is a great spot for grabbing a bagel on the go! What makes it to stand out is their "bagelwiches" menu; it looks so creative! I tried two bagels: everything bagels with goat & honey spread and multi-grain with onion & chive spread. Both of them were delightful. It'd been a while since I had a fresh change in morning breakfast. This is a good place to chill out for a bit, but then, it can get crowded fast during the mornings, especially on the weekends, so arrive early if you want to grab a meal then a spot to sit fast.

Jamie R.

Yelp
I love my house smokes lox salmon bagel. The quality is comparable to New York's! Maybe even better than some of New York's.

Gregory B.

Yelp
I came to this establishment ready to eat some delicious food but they said they were closed. This was over 30 ni it's before the posted closing time online. Not good customer service. If your closing time says 2pm, you shouldn't be turning away customers 30 minutes before. Guess I'll never get to try them out, which is sad.
google avatar

Paola R.

Yelp
I fly in to DC for these bagels alone. Best way to start the morning. My absolute flavor. The natitude is on the salty side but just how I prefer!
google avatar

Sasha G.

Yelp
Great bagel place to grab a sandwich and go. I had the smoked salmon bagelwich, which was packed full of smoked salmon, egg, avocado, tomato, and onion. The bagel took about 10 minutes to make. I was lucky enough to arrive at a downtime during the day (weekday afternoon), so I was able to grab a table upstairs. However, there isn't a lot of seating, so it might be best to grab and go. The bagelwich was not the best - the sandwich fell apart quickly and the size of the bagel was unable to hold together all the ingredients packed inside. I ended up eating the smoked salmon and egg pretty much on their own. Would recommend this place for simpler, smaller sandwiches.
