Great atmosphere and extremely friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating staff. The menu (below) was diverse. My choice was elk osso buco which was yummy but a tad chewy. Notice the “thin spoon” (below) to extract and eat the bone marrow which was tasty. Next time I’ll try the elk ravioli. The owners are very involved in the business which is nice. Desserts were excellent!

Arrived around 7:30pm on a Friday at the end of October (so, not peak season). We were sat right away in a booth. Amber was our server and she was excellent- attentive, gave plenty of recommendations, down-to-earth, funny, checked on us often, was super quick bringing my to-go dessert at the end of our meal and even she put extra napkins and utensils in there since I had some leftovers to take as well. Atmosphere is comfortable, homey, well-kept, the way a family restaurant should feel. Has a cute little train running above on a track. Noise is at a comfortable level to have a normal conversation, not having to whisper nor having to raise your voice. Huckleberry mule was excellent, right amount of vodka and ginger beer. Now for the food: Cheese curds: delicious, proper batter, properly fried, and the dipping sauce (which tastes like a honey huckleberry balsamic) was the perfect sweet balance to the salt of the cheese curds. The bread provided pre-meal is clearly fresh and homemade- so soft. It has some type of grain inside that gives a subtle texture. Delicious. Main: My husband and I actually chose Bullwinkle's for the Elk Ravioli (him) and the Bison Shortribs (me). However, it being the end of peak season, they had a limited menu. While they did have Elk Ravioli, they also happened to have Walleye (his favorite fish). He chose the Walleye, and since Bison Shortribs were not an option (sold out for the season the day prior😭), I chose the filet mignon, with mashed and asparagus. My husband enjoyed the subtly season, cooked to perfection walleye over a bed of orzo and spinach. My steak was seasoned appropriately, and was a little more on the rare side of medium-rare, but I like it that way. Mashed potatoes: red-skin, a few small chunks of potato for texture, perfection. Gravy was to die for, a tiny on the salty side but I like it that way. Asparagus was thick, cooked perfectly, and delicious- I just wish there had been 1 or 2 more stalks. I got huckleberry cheesecake to go, I tried a little bite and it's a yummy, standard cheesecake, though I have yet to put the huckleberry sauce on. $128+ tip for 1 beer, 1 mixed drink, 1 app, 2 entrees, and 1 dessert. Reasonable for the area. I highly recommend going in for dinner or even getting takeout. Food is absolutely delicious!

Dropped by for dinner today, our server Gabriel is great and food came out promptly. Our kid really likes the ceiling train running around the restaurant and the elk statue outside. We started with a beer and margarita, both are fine. The complimentary bread is delicious. We ordered spaghetti meatball and bison short ribs. My kid devoured the spaghetti and most of the meatball and it’s delicious. While I would say the bison short rib is tender and moist, unfortunately it’s extremely over salted and it became hard to eat. We have no habit of sending food back so unfortunately it felt not worth the cost in the end. The bill is $102 for 2 entree and 2 drink. I consider this okay for the tourist town only if the short rib is better.

The Bullwinkle’s is one of our favorite restaurants in this trip. The service is very welcoming and friendly. Food is delicious and well served. Recommend Elk Osso Bucco, Bison Short Ribs, and Duck to any meat lovers. The kids enjoyed their burgers as well.

We ate there dinner twice - at 20-Sep and 21-Sep-2025. My wife and my son are vegans. The place is big, with few spaces. There is a miniature train that is running up near the ceiling. It's good for the atmosphere. We ate pasta and Lasagna (made from Bison and elk - 25$), which were quite good - see in the attached pictures. We also ordered Traditional Bruschetta (14$) - that comes with tomatoes, and a fresh salad. My wife ordered Hummus - a dish that isn't included in the regular menu (14$). The second time we ate there I ordered a chicken sandwich, which was good, and a cheese cake with chocolate as a dessert, which was really good. The dishes' sizes are OK, and the prices are reasonable for this area

Really great service !!! best meatballs I’ve ever had in my life. The pasta sauce was unbelievable. You can tell that everything is handmade, just outstanding.

We come here Everytime we're in West Yellowstone❤️. I had their green bean fries, wedge salad and Broccoli and wild rice soup that was really good and hit the spot on a cold day!

Ordered the bison short rib with mashed potatoes and spinach sides. The bison was amazing—tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Highlight of the meal! But the sides were way too salty, which kinda stole the show in a bad way. Less salt next time would make it perfect. Great for meat fans otherwise.

The place is kept very clean. The service was great. The food was excellent. Little pricey but worth it.

We literally came in at 10:24 and there was clearly a sign that said they stopped serving food at 10:30. We knew if we were lucky enough to be served, we would get something awful. But, Matt the bartender absolutely hooked us up. He said nothing was off the table to order. We ordered the Elk Ravioli and Bison/Elk lasagna. We were starving, never order pasta, and were ready to go to McDonald's. Holy cow. Both dishes were AMAZING. Not kidding One of the best meals ever and they were so awesome about serving us so late. We loved our experience, Matt was awesome, cooks were amazing to hook us up. We won't forget our meal there. It was awesome.

We have eaten here a few times over the last 10 years and it's always been good. Their recent changes are over the top. We came on a Friday night and got seated right away. They had my favorite whisky available and a very good wine list. We started with the duck wing appetizers and they were great. On another day with a salad and this would be my go-to. Then two in our party had the elk ravioli and my hubs and I had the elk osso buco. After the first bites the table was moaning. Just excellent. From now on whenever we come into West this will be our go-to. Bravo.

We tried the Bison NY, Elk Medallions, Walleye and Huckleberry Cheesecake. Everything was fantastic!!

We went for steaks. I ordered a filet and it was ordered medium rare. It was overcooked and dried out but had good flavor. Salad is not an option for a side. My son ordered the ribeye and it lacked flavor and was also overcooked. My daughter ordered the bolognese and the pasta was overcooked and seemed to have not been freshly cooked. The prices are steep for the poor quality.

Went to the bar portion of this restaurant shortly after arriving in West Yellowstone on a Tuesday afternoon. Great place to grab a beer and watch sports - about 7-8 large TVs throughout the bar area (maybe more). Very casual atmosphere. The bartender, April, was not friendly or welcoming - but maybe she was just having a bad day. Nevertheless, we still enjoyed our time here. We tried the Spinach & Artichoke dip along with the Roasted Mushroom Bruschetta appetizer, both were absolutely delicious and great to share. The dip was very rich. Overall decent experience here.

Amazing! Best food ever! The service from all staff was best I have ever experienced. They talked to us and made sure we had everything and more. Food was delicious. We got Elk Medallions, Meatballs, Lasagna, Duck wings, cheesecake, carrot cake, ice cream, huckleberry wine and lemonade. All was eaten and delicious. Left ready to sleep in a happy coma. Atmosphere amazing and home like. Can't wait to go again!

We were in Yellowstone 2 weeks ago and I was researching a fun, western themed restaurant. The website gave a few recommendations, but Bullwinkle's Saloon caught my attention! It had such a homey vibe, with its Western decor, but also beautifully decorated for Autumn. We were sat pretty fast although the saloon was quite busy. The food was absolute comfort food! Delicious! My Mom had the elk chili which was very tasty. My Dad enjoyed his burger and I wasn't so hungry so I asked for chicken fingers and French fries. It was on the children's menu but I told our waitress, Janelle, that we would pay full price. The huckleberry lemonade paired well with our dinners. Janelle was very nice and attentive. When we received the bill we saw she had included the kids meal price which was definitely not necessary, but very nice! Bullwinkle's Saloon had both a liquor store and casino attached to the restaurant. The food was delicious and the bar was known as "Rocky's"! I loved the friendly, western vibe! Outside of the saloon were some fun photo ops! It was my favorite dinner in West Yellowstone! Thank you to Janelle!

Great food, great service, fun place to take kids - our granddaughter was fascinated by the train going around the ceiling. The wild game meatballs were loved by all, and my elk medallions were delicious. We love Bullwinkles and always try to get in here for dinner when we come to West Yellowstone.

I'm a physician and have eaten here once before without issue; I had their elk osso buco. On a recent visit, I ordered the elk ravioli. After the first bite, something tasted off. After a second bite, I knew something was wrong and returned the dish immediately, feeling I would be sick if I continued. I became nauseous and vomited within 20 minutes in their bathroom, a textbook case of food-borne illness from a preformed toxin, likely Staphylococcus aureus or Bacillus cereus. These toxins survive cooking and typically cause illness when food is improperly handled, left at room temperature, or contaminated during plating, even if "freshly prepared." When I raised the issue, the waitress brushed it off, saying "I don't really like the elk ravioli either." She gave me a deer-in-the-headlights look when I said her response was inappropriate. The owner, while I was in their restroom vomiting, told my mother I needed an allergy shot, despite the fact that I have no food allergies and had eaten elk there before (elk osso buco). That response was medically inaccurate and dismissive, especially given the owner claimed to have a degree in microbiology and used this as a justification to dismiss my concern when I spoke with her myself about the issue. I'll be filing a report with the health department. I'm sharing this to help protect other diners and encourage better food safety practices at this establishment.

What a wonderful experience was had by all of our 7 couples from the Atlanta metro area! Service and food was amazing! Highly recommend the Bison T-bone, Angus filet & bruschetta! Definitely a high recommendation.

Delicious food! We ordered the lasagna, elk oso buco, fettuccine Alfredo, and filet mignon. Steak was perfectly cooked, lasagna sauce had an incredible depth of flavor. All was soo yummy! Great service. Perfect spot after a long day of travel.

Waiter was great. Food was excellent. I had the bison burger. Beer was good. Fries were good atmosphere was good. Will come again. Highly recommend.

Came here visiting Yellowstone and Island Park during Xmas break. Was craving something other than beef and Montana is known for Bison and Elk meat. Went ahead and took a leap of faith and ordered the Elk steak, the picture below. The Elk steak tasted better than most beef steaks. Had less marbling, but had so much flavor, perfectly cooked medium rare. I would absolutely try elk again and may order steaks to be sent to my home. Service was also outstanding. Loved our server who was friendly with the entire family, explained the menu well, and made the experience great. Also recommend the bison short rib and poutine.

Our Server Monica was okay, didn't have much of a personality, maybe she didn't like the fact she had to work on a Saturday. Huckleberry Lemonade was very tasty and flavorful. Cheeseburger was very tasty and done perfectly. Fries were crispy on the outside but tender on the inside. The Train that circles the dining room is pretty cool

Our group thoroughly enjoyed our first visit here. The restaurant has a fairly typical MT vibe, however; they have one unique feature...a model train that rides around the place near the ceiling. Who doesn't like that? Myself and another in our group had the trout almondine with veggies and couscous. I liked the flash fried preparation. It did make the fish a bit dry on the outside, but still moist enough on the inside. Also, their tartar sauce amped up the flavor. The broccoli was steamed crisp, and the couscous was delightful. It was a bit different side dish. I tried my wife's pork ribs, which were delecious. And my friend who had the bison/beef mixed meatloaf said it was the best meatloaf he ever had. He talked about it for three days. Service was very good too. Our server gave us some advice on things to see, and showed us on her phone.

Jeremy at the bar was super welcoming and a great server. I highly recommend the place because of him!

I hate to give low stars but service was not stellar and could not award higher. Came here with a coworker as it was suggested by the hotel and it was down the block. Walked in to a few people ahead of us, the hostess was like a chicken with her head cut off. She would walk up to the counter look at a list then walk away. She did this about 5 times and never once asked us how many people were in our party. Then another party of about 4 came in 5 mins after us. So while standing there and never acknowledged, I walked up and put my own name on the list and lady behind me made a throat clearing sound of disgust because she thought she was going to be seated before is. Took the hostess about another 5 mins before we got seated. Since it took so long we already knew what we wanted. I got the Elk raviolis. The portion was huge, could have shared. When I say they are stuffed, that is an over statement. They did have a lot of filling in them and that was great. The sauce was nice and creamy but not to thick. Served with a loaf of sourdough bread. Love me some sourdough. It was busy and quite noisy.

The hospitality is off the chain. The two employees running the bar and restaurant were attentive to everyone and worked great as a team. We came here twice while we were in town because the meat loaf is that good. Prices are just right, and the staff are rockstars. The atmosphere is primarily a bar, so do keep this in mind if you are passing through. Music is a little louder but it's fun. Second night it wasn't as loud. The food is great! The meatloaf is a must. I recommend the gravy of the side just in case. But the flavor is fantastic. This is a lean beef and bison mixture with balance herb and pepper seasoning, with a little bit of minced veg mixed in. Solid solid dish! The bison short ribs are melt in your mouth good. The meat falls right off the bone. There really no other way a short rib should be. Other great dishes include the roast duck that I really had my eye on, but it so popular they didn't have the ingredients in house. The elk ravioli was another stand out dish on the menu. The food service was timely and the food was perfect temperature. Kitchen staff didn't miss a beat, even at peak hours. Everything remained under control. Bullwinkles is a a great place to stop in town with great people and service. And if you're feeling real lucky grab some popcorn and give the slot machines a try. Thank you for dinner!

I really enjoyed my dinner at Bullwinkles, it is a perfect stop after a great day at Yellowstone National Park. The Tuscan Burger and Full rack of ribs were the star of the show. The service was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed our server Amber. Great drinks and you fully enjoy the West Yellowstone Vibe.

While visiting the West Yellowstone area of Montana, we stopped in for a bite to eat with friends. Nothing fancy, however, friendly staff and tasty food at reasonable prices.

Service was excellent. Food always consistent with great selection. We had the rib eye steak. It was cooked perfect, medium rare, very tasty. Bread was made fresh. Salads and sides also good.

One of our long time favorites in west Yellowstone. However, this last visit was well below what we expected. My wife ordered the trout and I ordered the 8oz filet. I like my steak medium rare and that is how I ordered it. It came out medium well. Not only was it over cooked but it was very tough. Not what I expected. My wife's fish was very dry and over cooked as well. So we will put this on the bottom of our list for now and won't be returning anytime soon. The one thing you can count on here is that for a couple, you are not getting out the door for under $100 without any alcohol included. One of the most over priced restaurants for the portion size in west.

Little to no wait, great service from the staff. I ordered The bison ravioli and it was great. I can't tell difference of bison meat from cow meat but it's still good. Ambiance is like a small town restaurant with western vibes. Huckleberry lemonade was good but nothing special. The prices are a bit expensive but I'd go back again if back in West Yellowstone

Pretty good restaurant for a tourist town! Since we were in West Yellowstone, we had to try some of the local meats. We ordered the cheeseburger and substituted the regular patty with a Montana patty (60% bison & 40% elk). The meat was very lean and lightly seasoned so you can taste the natural flavor. It came with a side of fries that were perfectly crispy. I also got a garden salad and it was very fresh--no limpy lettuce. Bullwinkles is a restaurant bar and casino. The restaurant portion was packed with a very long waitlist, so we decided to sit at one of the high top tables on the bar side that had a bunch of slot machines. We must have sat there for a good 10 minutes before someone brought us a menu. The food was good, but service was just ok.

Excellent food and amazing service! Home baked bread, fettuccine, huckleberry lemon cake and cheese curds, it was all truly outstanding and topped only by the service. I have to say that they truly made my wife and I feel like they legitimately cared about how much we enjoyed our food. Stopping by no lass than a handful of times to make sure all was great, which it was. I knew it was gonna be good when we got the cheese curd appetizer and they were top notch. I'm from WI, so I know a legit curd when I have them and these were excellent! In fact, really everything we had was excellent!

We had been visiting Yellowstone and were very hungry after a day of sightseeing so we came here for dinner. The service and food was fantastic. I ordered the huckleberry margarita with sugar rim. It was delicious! The guys ordered a local beer and enjoyed it with their bison burger. Their burger was topped with bacon and caramelized onions. It was a really big burger and a very juicy burger. It sat next to a bed of fries. I highly recommend that burger if you are hungry. I ordered the bison lasagna and I can't say enough how amazing it was. It had just the right amount of everything in it. I had extra to take home and enjoy later. There was a really cool train that would ride around the inside of the restaurant to the outside and back in. It was the cutest thing!

Cute little Spot right in the heart of town. Friendly Bartenders and great slot games to play. I took the food back to where I was staying and the best thing on the menu is the Bison. 1st time trying it and it did not disappoint!

Bullwinkles was recommended to us by the girl at the Jerky Store. Glad we took her up on it! Saturday night we sat at the bar and Cody "Mercer" was the bartender. He was super personable, had a lot of Yellowstone area tips and was just an all around great guy! We had some poutine to start, then followed up with Cody's recommendation of Broasted Chicken. Hands down the best chicken I've had! The huckleberry margaritas are also super tasty! We headed back again Sunday after our second Yellowstone outing. Melanie was the bartender that night and she was friendly and attentive. We went back because my husband wanted to try the Elk Raviolis (a local favorite). He said they were delicious! I opted for the Sunday Special: Chicken and ribs. The meal was so big I took some home and we both ate it for lunch the next day! Food here is great! Staff is friendly and on top of things. I would definitely recommend this place if you're in West Yellowstone!

We had an awesome experience at Bullwinkles. We had a little bit of a wait to get a table, but it was worth it. After spending several days in JH with food that was a bit too eclectic for our tastes. Bulwinkles was just what we needed. Trent was our waiter the first night and despite his multiple table section, he was funny, efficient and the best waiter we have had on this trip. When I complimented his service, he said he couldn't do it without the kitchen, giving all the credit to the kitchen. The bar was quick with our drinks and the kitchen was fast with our food. We enjoyed it so much, we went back a second time. Thank you for great service and great food.

We've been coming to Yellowstone for many years now and I'm so upset that we just found this restaurant. But also so happy that we have such a great place to come to anytime we visit Yellowstone! Gabriel was a server and he was amazing!! Every person working there was happy and helpful. I feel like this says so much about a restaurant. We started with the burrata which was delicious and tasty. My daughter, who eats gluten free, had the bison short ribs which I think was the star of our whole meal. We also ordered the elk ravioli, New York strip and kids Mac n cheese. Everything was delicious. Had the carrot cake for dessert which was a great ending to the whole meal. The kids loved watching the train go around and around above us. Kept them entertained. We will for sure be back next time we are in town.

Nice place to stop after a long day at Yellowstone. When we arrived, it looked very crowded, however, they got us a seat in 10 minutes. They have some local style food- a lot of elk and bison meat meals. I ordered the elk ravioli. My wife ordered the bison meatloaf and it was 10/10. Highly recommend this plate. Only complaint is that it's a little expensive and the atmosphere could be a little better.

Sister had eaten here several times over the past few years and was a place we needed to try. Owner was a chef from east coast and had stepped up the menu. Menu was similar to her last visit only the specials were canceled. Also turned out to be under new ownership. Ordered broasted fried chicken. Was overcooked, overly seasoned and a very thick crust. Huckleberry Lemonade was good. Flavorful and not overly sweet. Another in group ordered the duck. Was extremely greasy and over cooked. Burger ordered was cooked well done instead of medium and bland. Another order the elk ravioli. The only positive of our meal. Cheesecake recipe was different than pictures. Essentially regular cheesecake with drizzle on top. Service acted like it was a privilege for us to be there rather than the small town feel usually accustomed to. Will be looking at other dining options next time visiting West Yellowstone.

This was not our first trip here and I believe I reviewed it previously. Our waiter was a little abrupt, but the food is always wonderful.

The fried shrimp are amazing. Homemade crunchy batter was great and the fries are really good as well. The service was really good and friendly as well.

Went for our 21st anniversary on Valentine's Day, no wait and quickly seated, went at dinner time and the place filled up fast! We had a drink at the branch their bartender that night slightly better but Bullwinkle's/Rocky's menu better. I so desired prime rib and I managed to snag the last one and it was superb! The wait staff was fantastic! 3 sweet ladies tended to our needs! They were fast and efficient. Very personable too. Food was perfection! The ambiance was nice got a little loud as the evening went on but big parties of people dining and a bar to be expected. Very clean and good lighting.

I like this waitress a lot! Amber is to the point. She told us people's favorites and pointed out everything is good. She also checked on us several times and kept drinks filled. I like that we could get into this restaurant rather quickly even for a Friday night (only 15 - 20 min wait!) my husband had the roast duck with huckleberry sauce and said that it was one of the best ducks he has ever had. I had the ribs - half rack which was absolutely wonderful and more than enough. The coleslaw didn't have a lot of onion which was perfect. The mashed potatoes were really good as well. I really liked this restaurant. Although busy, the tables are spread out enough so you have room. If you go, notice the beautiful stained window at the front. Also, look up in the main room! It has a train that runs overhead. Overall it's a nice place to go. Thanks, Amber, for making this evening nice for us!

Over all Food wasn't bad, service was good. Salads are good, but you get a dinner salad size for entree, with gourmet entree prices. Can't go wrong with the chicken strips and fries tho and their huckleberry sauce was amazing! Bottom line, prices were crazy high for quality and quantity of food.

We were a party of eight adults. Among us we tried many of the menu items. Every single one on the meals were superbly prepared and the service outstanding. The owner makes all the desserts. Each one is fabulous. Huckleberry Cheesecake, Lemon Cake with huckleberry filling, and carrot cake. Each one soooo good. Save some room for dessert

Service was very good! Food was ok, but not over the top. I would eat here if invited, but not my choice. I had the corned beef and swiss sandwich, fries, and broccoli soup.

Coming from a 4 generation military family my grandfather used to say people who beat their chest about their religion or patriotism were neither truly religious nor patriotic. He had fought for this country's freedom and it included the freedom to disagree. So i can agree to disagree with the owners flagrant attempt at angry patriotism and discuss the food and service at his establishment. We had the bison burger and Reuben for lunch and they were cooked perfectly and delicious. We enjoyed some libations in the moose drool beer and huckleberry mule (when in Rome). The mule seemed more ice than liquid and was a little too sweet. We finished off sharing a slice of delicious huckleberry cheesecake. The service was attentive and friendly. Miguel did a great job and seemed much happier than his coworker.

We ended up leaving the park later than we anticipated and got to this place around 7. It was packed with a waitlist. We went to the bar to have dinner and catch the game. The bartender immediately started complaining about the crowds here in September. He continued on and off throughout our time there. We tried to ignore it and make conversation with others at the bar. The food was just okay for the price charged. The kicker came with the check. We were charged for the people next to us meals and drinks which amounted to about $14 more. I didn't catch it until we got back to our condo. My fault for not catching it there. The bartender's fault for not being attentive and complaining to everyone who walked in.

This is our 4th night in town and this is a top contender for best place to eat! It was crazy busy and would've never known because the server was fast, attentive, fun, and kind! Our drinks came out fast, the stouts were so good and so was the huckleberry marg!! App and main meals came out so fast. All our food was good, delicious bison burger. The entire staff was working swiftly as a team, making time to chat with guests. You heard one guy constantly welcoming people back by name and asking about their families! We will absolutely come back!
