The Best Halloween Pop-Up Bars Around the Twin Cities in 2024 | Eater Twin Cities

"Back for the first time since 2019, Haunted Basement has taken over Bumbling Fools Mead in Northeast Minneapolis with a ‘mini’ haunted house running October 17 through November 2; if you want to see a talented gaggle of local artists turn a meadery into a gallery of horrors this is the place, tickets are $15 online or $20 at the door (selling out quickly), full details are available via Facebook, and be sure to wear close-toed shoes." - Justine Jones

Came here for a free comedy show. This place has... broke guy garage vibes? At first I thought... am I in the right building? But the more I walked around... its not that bad. Definitely has character. There was a room for the comedy show that had a giant heater above that would make a metronomic clanging noise. We had it turned off so that we could hear the speakers. It got really cold after a while and the comedians started making fun of it and Minnesotan culture. The mead is tasty and reasonably priced, the art is quirky, there are free games and lounge chairs, the whole place is pretty clean. Its more quirky than a chaotic mess. I hope things work out for these guys.

Welcome to the hidden gem of Mead! Free parking followed by a short walk through a fun sitting area, through a hallway to some great mead! This meadery serves smaller pours and around 8-9% abv so not as thick and hearty as other mead. The several options I tasted were great! I especially enjoyed the jalapeño mead :) Check this place out for a chill time!

Absolutely worth the trip! The mead is very tasty, the people were very welcoming, and the vibes were exactly what I was looking for. If I didn't live 5 hours away I would be here every weekend. Can't say enough positive things about this hidden gem!

Funky, eclectic, and off the beaten path. Definitely worth a stop for anyone who’s been to the usual Northeast haunts and looking for a homegrown atmosphere. Mead is not something I have a ton of experience with, but theirs is exceptional. Something beer nerds and cider fans alike can probably enjoy. Scott was an excellent bartender, host, and tour guide - my only regret was not being able to sit out in the courtyard due to rain. Can’t wait to come back.

I got dragged here. I don't drink. I don't enjoy bars, have never felt comfortable at one. But this place, I loved. It's LGBTQ+ friendly, nerdy, and quirky. Strangers actually talked to each other and it wasn’t awkward at all. If I lived in this city I'd be a regular here.

You should only go to Bumbling Fools if you're prepared to have the best night of your life. Scott (the co-owner) is the perfect host, offering hilarious anecdotes and the ultimate friend goal. We spent hours in this hidden gem and plan to become regulars. The mead is great too; there wasn't a single one my husband or I disliked. (And if you order two flights aka everything on the board, you may get a lil extra.) Seriously, such a great night!

Great people. Wonderful mead. Funky and ecentric space. A must visit for the mead lover and those curious about it.

Good mead on the less sweet side. My fiance, who typically is not a fan of mead, enjoyed the mead here. The owner was nice and allowed us to sample. The atmosphere and decorations outside of the bar area was comparable to someone's untended basement, but somehow it worked and was pleasant. I could see it being a good place for gatherings and board games for non snobby people.
