The 20 Best Restaurants In Hackney

"The burgers from Bun & Sum’s original Mile End spot made it onto our Best Smashburgers guide. So if you’re craving something lacy-edged and meaty, you can’t go wrong here. You'll probably have quite a wait between ordering and your collection buzzer pinging. But persevere for a stool—these excellent halal burgers are best enjoyed freshly smashed and sizzled, while nodding along to the bumping hip-hop/R&B playlist. Add a portion of fall-off-the-bone sticky ribs and cheeseburger fries showered with small pieces of those crispy patty edges, and you’ll be glad you were patient." - jake missing, sinead cranna, daisy meager

Would not recommend delivery. Food comes unpackaged, placed into a paper bag, which caused a huge hole clearly due to the condensation let off the food if it was packed closed that would not happen, when we received the order there was unwrapped stale food just sitting exposed to god knows what dirt which hasn't been cleaned out of some bikers moped it's disgusting

Really good burger nice soft Japanese style buns and the meat was cooked just right. The atmosphere inside was a vibe with a retro feel, I even played street fighter on the arcade machine inside the shop after my meal! There is large seating space plus high tables to stand up and eat if you prefer. Great service and friendly staff.

This place had been on my radar for a long time, and the social media hype has been crazy. Finally, I had the opportunity to visit their Hackney location and decided to try as much as I could. Here’s what I ordered: Motz Burger A solid burger that could have benefited from a bit more seasoning. Thankfully, the onions and smac sauce added enough flavour to make it enjoyable. Green Chilli Burger Like the Motz Burger, this one also lacked seasoning. However, the generous portion of green chillis was a perfect hit. The burgers were on the smaller side, but the 50% discount made them a good deal. I wouldn’t pay full price given their size. Shticky Ribs The ribs were tasty, with a honey BBQ sauce that was sweet, tangy, and perfectly glazed. The only downside was that there wasn't much meat on them. Animal Fries The fries were decent, and the combination of caramelised onions and smac sauce was excellent. However, I was confused by the slice of cheese on the fries when they sell queso cheese. Loaded Smashed Potatoes An outstanding combination of flavours with crispy potatoes. I would prefer if they came in a wider container to ensure the toppings are spread more evenly. After finishing the top layers, you’re left with plain chips. They offer unique drink options and an extensive menu. However, I found the prices a bit high for what you receive. On the bright side, the staff were friendly and quick to clear the tables after customers left. I’d definitely return to try other items on the menu, possibly at a different location.

After seeing the online hype, and the additional branches opening, thought I’d check it out for myself. Alhamdulillah the food was overall nice however, portions were way too small and I think the brisket from other places like Pitmaster for example is better. There was barely any rib meat on the ribs loaded fries we got, which did taste great, it’s prob the best tasting item they have on their menu. But the ribs ordered on their own are not as tender as they should be if they’ve been slow cooked for so long. B&S do cut their brisket very finely which is something I like and the gimmick of dipping a burger or food into their gravy broth is tasty and resolves any dry food. The dessert was decent but again on the small side. The shakes were unavailable, something they need to sort out, especially in the summer weather. The branch was relatively quiet with enough seating, they maybe need one more member of staff to stay on top of promptly cleaning tables after customers leave because a few seats/tables weren’t cleaned for a while as limited staff served customers/managed collection drivers. I’d eat here again if I was in the area but wouldn’t go out of my way to visit again with so much other choice in London.

Food was just ok. Had the green chilli burger, so much chilli peppers you couldn't really taste the burger! Animal fries had a slice of burger cheese that was not even melted. Beef dripping fries were nice. Beef ribs were flavoursome. We ate from the 50% off menu, would not have paid full price for the food. Service was fine, didn't have to wait too long for our food.

Honestly - just visit! Been meaning to get to this spot and the food, worth it! My favourited being the brisket burger, the brisket itself flavourful and cooked to perfection! Genuinely melt in your mouth slow cooked brisket, the ribs the same and so is the pastrami Take their recommendations, the staff are brilliant and super helpful Overall worth of a 5+ star review and will be recommending family, friends and anyone who asks for a brilliant food spot in London Please mind the shop isnt the biggest but people are in and out (service is brisk) so you’ll get a seat in no time! No excuses not to pop down ❤️

Do not go here. I had ordered the big smack burger and there was hair everywhere in the food. And the customer service very bad as I had to wait 20mins for another burger

The best burger without patty I've ever had. OMG!!! Both "Big Rib" and "Pastrami" were absolutely amazing, juicy, and packed with flavour. It's top-notch and a really good portion. The smashed potatoes were really tasty as well. Definitely, I'll go again to try the patty burger and obvs i highly recommend this burger place
