Amazing broth but only when you add the lime, picked onions & spicy minced garlic (and a bit of the fermented shrimp paste)!!!
Not a big onion/garlic person so ate majority of my bowl without it and thought it was just ok, like an oden / yong tau foo soup given that it’s slightly sweet with lots of fishcakes, but when I added it, that’s when the broth really became very tasty!
Fishcakes have a nice bite, not spongy & soft. Goes well with the chilli sauce! Not quite a fan of the bun rieu, so would recommend just the normal one.
