A Hidden Gem with Soul and Style From the moment we walked in the staff was incredibly polite and welcoming. The space is clean and cozy with a warm 1950s vibe that feels both nostalgic and inviting. Dinner was pure comfort. We had the baked chicken spaghetti greens and creamed corn. Every bite was flavorful and clearly made with love. The chicken was tender the greens were perfectly seasoned and the creamed corn was rich and satisfying. This spot is a perfect mix of great service delicious food and a relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommend and we will definitely be back.

My macaroni and cheese was macaroni noodles and shredded cheese mixed together. The dressing was dry. The sweet potatoes wasnt really potatoes, but there ain’t no juice no real flavoring. My smothered pork chops was good season and tender and my greens was OK but it could’ve had more flavoring. Not the same as back in the day 31$ should have been like $21

The place had a smell which should have been my cue to leave but I already called the order in so I picked it up anyway. I got smothered porkchops, dressing, yams and greens. It was disgusting and has my stomach messed up even tho I only took a few bites and tossed it in the trash. The lady at the cash register was very nice but I'd never go back. Ended up making some noodles. Very disappointed

My family has a long history with this restaurant; my husband began taking me to the bungalow in 1985. Although the years have passed, one thing remains constant: the food is still delicious. Whenever I have the opportunity to visit, and cherished memories of my late husband and I coming their after church with the family.

Yelp
Delicious!! I called ahead and they had it hot and ready right on time. The restaurant was very neat and clean. I ordered the smothered pork chop dinner. The pork was flavorful and moist. The sides i got were mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, collard greens all very flavorful. And i order extra black eyes peas, fried okra, and a peach cobbler. There was enough food for 3 meals for me. The family that owns and operates the place are very courteous and friendly. If you look around you see the deep history this establishment has with the community. Please stop by. This place is a hidden gem, and I'm so lucky to have found it.

Yelp
Expensive 1 corn bread patty went from a dollar to 2 no meat they sell is tender delivery is price of 8 dollars even if you live down the street all portion is small, side dishes, meat and no meals for 2-4 people which equals they want every quarter they can get !!!!

Yelp
It doesn't taste like the older people that used to cook it and own it and every time you pass by now, it look like it's closed

Yelp
One of the best soul food Restraunts in the Milwaukee area. Great food. Excellent service and did I say that they could burn. Damn their food is good.

Yelp
The food was really good. I typically do not write reviews. I did like the food from here. My wife and daughter were out of town during Christmas break and I didn't know what I would eat. I had a lot of work so I did not want to cook, I called Bungalow and they were open. I order two plates of fried catfish and each came with three sides. Everything was delicious, it actually reminded me of my aunts catfish and yams and greens from down south, Mississippi.the service was great as well, as soon as I entered someone came from behind the partition and took my order immediately. The interior was clean and inviting. I will be back.

Yelp
Hole in the wall, hood, soul food spot with great food! One of the owners told me the restaurant had been in the family for decades. It looks like they havent changed so much as a light bulb in 50 years, and that's part of the charm of a good diner or soul food spot. We came on a Sunday, and it was packed. We got a table right away but others werent as lucky. I heard one customer very rudely complain to the waitress that they had been waiting 30 minutes for their takeout order. I'm not sure what they were expecting, when there's a small staff and a line out the door how quick do you expect soul food to be? I got the Sunday special-- baked chicken, dressing, mac & cheese, greens, yams. I was skeptical about getting baked chicken instead of fried or smothered but the waitress assured me it was worth it. She was right. It was some of the most flavorful baked chicken I've ever had, almost or as good as my wife's. Same with the dressing which was sweet cornbread dressing. The mac & cheese did not appear to be baked but it was very cheesy. The greens were good. The yams were ok. My friend/coworker got the smothered pork chops which were also very good. The caramel cake looked very good but neither of us had the room to try it. I will be back.

Yelp
The catfish dinner is the best. Located near highway 43 in the heart of the city . A lot of nice pictures honoring the Packers football team in the restaurant. More of a pick up and go restaurant

Yelp
Beware! While the food is ah-ma-zing, you are destined for cardiac rest or diabetes if you eat here regularly. After Sunday church service in the area, we decided to find a local soul food place to wet our palate. The Bungalow is nestled in a neighborhood and it is unlikely you would pass this place at any point unless you are looking for it. It is a brick corner building that consists of about 7 booths and a bar area. Reading the menu is enough to make a fan of soul food cheer. It offers everything, from smothered chicken, liver and onions, fried catfish, ox tails, smothered steak, fried chicken, ocean perch, cabbage, candied yams, black eyed peas, pinto beans, collard greens, broiled or fried okra, cornbread dressing, macaroni and cheese and a ton of other options. Each entree is served with your choice of three sides and cornbread. Yes, you heard it right, three sides. Like I said, your cardiologist. if you live to see one would recommend you only eat like this occasionally. While there were options like baked chicken, the starch filled sides drenched in butter or sugar diminish any attempt of eating healthy. We avoided the list of desserts but we each acknowledged seeing it. Custard pie and sweet potato pie are two of the desserts I remembered seeing. The beverage selection includes Pepsi products, homemade tea and lemonade. I ordered the smothered chicken (dark meat), cabbage, candied yams and macaroni and cheese. My soul fool com padres ordered the fried catfish and baked chicken dinners. We all enjoyed our choices and required a nap after trying to eat half of our meal. ........Moving on to the item that is served with every meal. The cornbread at this Packer inspired place is different. It's a cross between a pancake and a crepe but it really tastes like cornbread. I was reluctant to try it but was glad I did. It tasted like cornbread, was firm like cornbread and it is called cornbread, so we'll just go with that. But if I received a test with pictures of food items, I am 99% certain most people would not identify this as a cornbread. Three entrees and beverages totaled about $40 before gratuity. Service was average the food is over the top awesome. Glad I am not in Milwaukee often and my waistline is too!

Yelp
Decent Soul Food! I've had better, but I was also content. I had Fried Okra Collard Greens and BBQ Ribs. Good pricing for the food.

Yelp
I was craving some down home soul food and received a tip to go check this place out and my oh my am I glad I did. I was starving when my family and I arrived so I ordered a neck bone dinner with candied yams, collard green, and boiled okra. My daughter had a smothered chicken dinner with corn, candied yams, and collards, and my best friend had the shoulder dinner with potato salad, green beans, and mac n' cheese. We sampled each other's food to get a feel for everything and all the food we ordered was incredible! I haven't had soul food like that in over 10 years when my grandmother was alive. The food by far exceeded my expectations, so we ended up purchasing more food to go. I will be going back tomorrow to try the chicken and dressing.

Yelp
I do want to start off by saying they have very delicious food. I do want to however add that the people that work here are extremelyyyy rude. I called place an order, and she kept cutting me off, then when I have my credit card info she said aians okay and hung up the phone immediately. I didn't know how much my total was, nor when I would receive it. I then called back to cancel my order and the man was slightly friendlier, however hung up in my face as well. They need to have better phone manerisms.
