Bunk Bar Water

This is a good place to meet up for lunch with a friend or for a small lunch business meeting. They specialize in sandwiches, salads and a full bar. The booths are comfortable and right up against a wall of windows looking out onto Water St. I had a good 1/3 lb. Cheeseburger that I’d give a 4 out of 5 star rating. My friend had a roasted turkey sandwich that looked very good and he chowed it down. The food is priced decently and has a large selection of drinks and a kids’ menu with a cheeseburger on it (not many do anymore). They occasionally have live music from local bands and the sound here is great. Recommended!

Ordered the most popular dish, the Cubano and my husband ordered the chicken fingers with waffle fries got a side of Caesar salad as well. The cubano was perfectly toasted and there was a lot of meat in it. The chicken fingers had the right amount of breading and was crispy and not dry. The waffle fries were seasoned well and super crunchy, that was my favorite. The Caesar salad was also good, they dont scrimp bother dressing! The service was friendly and efficient and the ambience was sporty. Street parking only so it was a bit of struggle looking for one on a Friday at lunch time. The whole place was clean and so were the ladies room. Went there because Guy Fieri told me to!

The food and drink were good. I got a bourbon based cocktail with a large ice cube, and fried chicken sandwich with waffle fries. I did ask for no mayo and they put alot of mayo on my sandwich. Make sure they get your order right! Otherwise excellent spot with a nice relaxing layout and ambiance, impressive menu! I’ll certainly go back when in the area. I like the vibe

We found another gem! Parked right in front, walked in, the place looked homey and inviting. The menu looked good and it was difficult choosing. The order was up fast, it came to the table hot, and it was delicious! What else could you ask for?

Went to check this place out while in Portland. Really cool Bar deli. My Italian was amazing, meats were fresh hot peppers slaw was delicious and the bread was perfect. Beautiful day to sit outside as well. It’s Portland so not a lot of parking on the street but it’s well worth it if you could walk or take your car. Either way cool fun place to catch a bite to eat. Great service. Great recommendations on food and drinks. Would I go here again, absolutely.

I love this spot for a quick and affordable lunch! Their ranch salad is such a great deal, $5.50 for a sizable salad packed with bacon, blue cheese, veggies, and a deviled egg on top. Tried their Sandwich Week special today, the Banh Mi Patty Melt, super tasty! The tots/fry sauce are also excellent.

Great Spot for Mac n cheese and the sandwiches are pretty damn good! Will definitely going back!

Terrific sandwich place / bar in a neighborhood with other solid food options. Had the turkey club, really fresh ingredients and perfectly done. Tater tots on the side which is always a great touch to offer. Folks I was with had great things to say about their sandwiches and drinks. Certainly a place I would return to when in the neighborhood!

One of the first questions I ever asked (to no one in particular) at the bar here after eating my first bite of an Italian Cured Meats sandwich: "Why? Why is this so hard?" The bartender's response: "You have no idea how often people come in here complaining about other sandwiches." That was about eight years ago, and I've struggled to find even a handful of other options that come close to Bunk's Italian Cured Meats for an Italian sandwich in Portland. This entire metro area is a godless place that sees fat, spice, seasoning or slightly crusty bread and immediately feels the need to drown it in cream sauce. That there's active debate over whether Oregon's regional dish is biscuits and gravy (it isn't) or jo Jos with fry sauce (and there are places--like JoJo's--working hard to elevate this form) tells you just how muted the menu can get here. If you order an Italian sandwich here, most places will serve it either on a spongy roll akin to a dinner roll or on an artisanal loaf designed by the dental industry to yank loose teeth. The happy medium found elsewhere in the country is rare, but that's not the delis' fault. However, the far more egregious treatments involve laissez faire tearing of random lettuce instead of shredding iceberg in the slicer and adding mayonnaise, mustard or both as default condiments, sometimes proudly declaring "NO SUBSTITUTIONS." Bunk founder Tommy Habetz didn't take this approach with Bunk's Italian Cured Meats, because he isn't a philistine. He understands that cured meats contain enough salt and fat content of their own to alleviate any need for mustard or mayonnaise--let alone mandate them--and that the oil, vinegar and oregano added to the sandwich provides more than adequate moisture to counter the chewy exterior, but soft interior of his Fleur du Lis rolls. Bunk doesn't fly a tricolore outside its shop or list the family bonafides from their 20th Century voyage her from points east. It just makes a sandwich the way that countless shops and delis have before: Recognizing that the right mix of quality ingredients matters more than their local context. For this, I am in their debt that I can only repay one sandwich at a time.

I love coming here with the boys, especially on a weekend in the early evening. They have something delicious for everyone, and then Shirley temples for the kids and a wide selection of delicious beers and cocktails for me. The space is large enough that you don't have to worry if the kids are being loud (the first photos I can find are from 2012, when my (now very laid back teen was just two and my very mellow tween was just a glimmer in his mother's eye), the era when my children would run the ramp and bat at the pinball slippers with zero accuracy. Everyone at BB has been really nice to each and every one of us. Last visit I saw a customer who was outraged that her bill was so high (it was still shockingly cheap), and the bartenders gently, and patiently explain, over and over and over again that it was her brother who had put all his drinks for himself and his friends on her tab. She did not get it and really wanted to battle about it, but they never reacted. I was super impressed - I was ready to grab her and push her out the door!! I haven't even mentioned the food!! Everything is soooo good. One son always gets the grilled cheese and tomato soup, so thick and comforting I always have to steal a few bites. The other the juicy and perfectly cooked burger. I always change my order. Their Italian grinder brings me back to Molinari's, their Ruben? Oh god, is it good!

I visited Bunk Bar because of the Diners Dive Inns and Dives connection and they did not disappoint. The food was outstanding! I had the Chicken sandwich with added cheddar. It was moist and crispy and really messy. A 4 napkin treat!!! Fluffy brioche bun tangy sauce and dripping with pickles and coleslaw goodness. HOMERUN!! The lady at the counter was fun and a happy person this makes a visit all the better. It's a cool place for a beer and some hearty fun delicious nosh!!! Get to Bunk and enjoy!

I was sad to see that a few of the other Bunk locations had closed, but Bunk Sandwiches is one the first spots I head to when I'm in PDX. I typically order two sandwiches (the Pork Belly Cubano and Italian Cured Meats). Not going to lie... I dream about those sandwiches and have tried making my own Italian at home. The Italian Cured Meats is one of my favorite sandwiches in the country and has great texture with all the toppings. The location is perfect because it's right next to my favorite coffee shop (Water Avenue Coffee). Being able to go to both of these right when my plane lands are my perfect scenario. It's street parking, and you may need to do a couple of laps around the block to find a spot, but it's worth it. Inside, it's got a bar vibe (cause it is). I have been there before when they weren't allowing underage patrons because they were about to have a band play. There are booths on one side and tables in another corner. I haven't been there when it is hard to get seating, but I could see that during a lunch rush. It's usually quick service after you order. You order at the bar and then grab your seating. It's self-clean up, too, and all pretty self-explanatory.

This has been on my list forever, so was excited to make this the second stop of our Nacho Crawl. I think I had a sandwich from here forever ago, and have been trying to come back since. We came in around 2pm on a Friday, and there was no wait, and a decent amount of people in. It looked like there were plenty of tables and space for the future, which is nice. The server was friendly, and our food came out relatively fast. I can only review what I had, which was the nachos. Unfortunately, it's the reason for the 3 stars, and maybe even two. When we walked in, we noticed a few nacho containers on empty tables with chips and some toppings in them, and thought, wow, that must mean these portion sizes are huge, and people couldn't finish! Wah wah wah. We got the Nachos, and there was a good portion size of chips. Problem was, there was a minuscule amount of Kalua Pork, and the standard grocery store tortilla chip. A perk was the cheese was a swiss? cheese, and not the standard ballpark nacho cheese drip. Sadly, the swiss didn't have a lot of flavor, and felt like maybe the it had melted a few minutes earlier and was already hardened. Sadly, the best part of the nachos were the pineapples. After eating the chips with the Pork, there were still a lot of chips left. We ate a few of the chips with cheese, but that grew old fast. At that point, the most flavorful thing on the plate was the pineapple, so we finished the pineapple, and like others, left about half the plate of chips and cheese. It was the most uninspiring place I went all week, and I'm hesitant to go back tbh. I appreciate that businesses participate in Nacho Week, but in this instance, I think it would have been better to just skip the week if you can't do it well, and coming off of eating the Kalua Pork nachos at Grind Wit Tryz, it was a stark contrast.

Listen, there aren't a lot of places to eat near OMSI but we're lucky that Bunk Bar is so reliable. Grilled cheese and tomato soup is great on a gloomy day. The ranch salad with grilled chicken almost once a week go-to. And I like the staff.

Quick, and quirky. The Bunk Bar is perfect for a quick Sandwich or some drinks. It even has a flipper machine for your entertainment. We had the impossible burger sandwich and this is just a perfect burger with lots of salat and a delicious crispy grilled patty with all the fixings. In addition I'll had their take on a Columbian and I liked it. Especially since it wasn't overloaded with meat like American normally do :). Tasty and crispy. You order at the counter and the kitchen brings your food to the table - you can mostly wait and pick up the drinks at the bar. Will come back any time for a snack!

The order was through DOORDASH. The tots were so heavily salted they were inedible. Every item was heavily salted.....even the Ranch salad. Well, you can't ruin an Impossible burger right? Wrong, you can and they did. Seemed very small, as if the burger had been sliced in half horizontally. And again so much salt on it. Chicken salad sandwich was horrible tasting inside a stale bun. Immediately got a full refund from DOORDASH. Pretty bad folks. Pretty, pretty bad.

Can't speak to the location or ambiance since I ordered my meal via Doordash. Seems there are multiple ways to order but via Doordash took between 35-40 mins from ordering to the meal making it to our door. Prior to writing this review I didn't realize that Bunk was on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. Looking it up the first visit was a missed opportunity to try their cubano but now I know what option to get my next visit. | WHAT WE GOT | + Italian Cured Meats + Meatball Parmesano Hero + Side of tater tots Both items were nicely portioned and you can easily eat half if you're pairing your sandwich with a side. Italian Cured Meats (got it toasted) was topped with plenty of peppers (depending on the heat you decide). The meatball hero had 4 nicely sized meatballs with melted cheese on top. The bread on both sandwiches held up well with all the fillings/toppings as well. If you're not craving your standard potato chips the tater tots are a nice option (may opt to put it in the oven when it's delivered) and pair it with both their bunk sauce (similar to thousand island) and ranch on the side.

Decided to give another Portland sandwich shop that's been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives, a try for lunch. Called ahead and placed an order for takeout. This is the only location that is open right now and the menu is more limited at this location. Upon arrival, was able to grab a spot on the street and my order was all wrapped up on a table just inside the door. So very smooth pick-up. Decided to try their Italian Cured Meats sandwich, given all the rave reviews. Sandwich is made of ham, salami, capicola, shredded iceberg, red onion, along with their marinated peppers and provolone piccante. They gave me the option of spicy or regular, and I ordered a regular, but found it still had a kick due to oil/vinegar provided. Bread was fresh and crunchy. A very good sandwich. I'll need to go back and try that Bunk Cubano.

Tater tots and amazing sandwiches. Cookies pickles and chips keeping it simple, it's a snack sack. Ps if you like pinball.. bring a few quarters maybe stay for a drink... the art is beautiful and the ambiance is laid back. The counter staff always has a smile and a great recommendation.

This is my kind of place...dirty dive bar, friendly bartender, strong drinks, pinball machines, and a great sandwich. I'd love to see a jukebox in here so patrons could pay for their favorite tunes rather than get piped in music that doesn't always match the mood. Looking forward to the return of Happy Hour once the world returns to normal.

Omg! Yes! Yes! Yes! My mouth has never been this satisfied! Wow! It was knock out the park, we had burger, tots & small ranch salad dressing on the side with two small margaritas (business casual perfection). So excited to have a new spot! So tasty & super chill

Best sandwiches I've had in Portland so far! We got the Cuban and the meatball sub pinball games while you wait , and super nice staff.

Wake up and realize that this nation's universal form of payment is currency.

Bloody Mary: WOO doggies! Spicy kick but GOOD! Tots: wow!! So tasty. OMG these rival McMenamins. Ordered various mustards for dipping which added a wonderful dimension to the experience. Fresh, light, crispy, with a perfect hint of salt. Grilled cheese: Yes! Great flavor. Can't go wrong with Tillamook cheese. Roasted chicken salad sandwich: Darn! Sadly I was disappointed with this, especially since everything else was so tasty. It wasn't bad but just had very minimal flavor. All it needs would even be a light dusting of some spices to really improve the flavor. :( and the bacon was somewhat fatty. Creamy tomato basil soup: Yes yes yes! Rich, a little kick, and just, well, DELICIOUS! Again, this is what tomato basil should taste like. Turkey club: VERY good! Fresh and delicious. Just like it should be. Chocolate chip cookie: Meh. Decent but nothing special. Overall I was extremely surprised and IMPRESSED by this place. Love the Cuban music and atmosphere in here. They're just missing ceiling fans for ambiance. 4 stars plus! I was so pleased with this place I considered buying a shirt (ya I know, I never do that) but all the shirts were too plain and only in black (except one white)! The Bunk Beach should come in white with a rainbow coloring to finish off the Cali throwback influence. Still, I'll come back here soon.

Slowly eating my way through Portland's most hyped up lunch spots. Bunk's Pork Belly Cubano had been referred to as one of the "12 Wonders of Portland Food"; been featured on popular food shows such as Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives and The Best Thing I Ever Ate, and I can kind of see why. Despite its "exotic" origins, the Cubano has become ubiquitous ever since the American culinary industry discovered the cost-efficient and easy-to-wonder culinary wonder that is the panini press. The panini press essentially transformed what would otherwise just be a vanilla run-of-the-mill sandwich that any Joe Schmo can whip up out of the leftovers in his fridge; without the added ingredient of the grill, the Cubano is in essence, a slightly more costly PB&J of the cheese and ham sandwich genre. But alas, slap a fancy name and an innovative cooking technique to anything and it becomes instant gourmet. Despite my sarcastic leanings regarding the Cubano sandwich, I really did enjoy Bunk's rendition of the Floridan favorite: the bread is crunchy, not just from being toasted but as part of its original texture; no complaints with the Swiss cheese, but the mayonnaise does add a nice dimension of rich and creaminess to the already savory molten cheese; I honestly thought pork belly would come out too greasy and fatty, but it complemented the ham/shoulder roast perfectly. The pickles were nothing to write home about.

I ordered from this location via Postmates. The order total was $21.50. After the Postmate arrived, Bunk revised the total up to more than $37. I have screenshots showing the advertised prices and the final pricing. Postmates claimed they had no control over what the merchant charges when the Postmate arrives. This place is scamming people. Love the food, but if you can't bother to advertise the actual price, you're just scamming people. See the screenshot I attached. Note the two items I ordered, and note the final price.

This is a solid place to eat and they use good quality meats and so on. I want to say that I think they serve great sandwiches here and at one time they were at the top of the list but Portland being "food city" there are now other places that I think make better sandwiches. There's a lot of competition out there! On this visit, I ordered up the Roast Beef sandwich with caramelized onion, cheddar, dijon. I also ordered tater tot's... Who doesn't love tots! :-) First off, the sandwich was served cold on a poppyseed kaiser bun which I found extremely odd because the meat was cold and the cheese wasn't melted. The bun was cold and the bottom bun was a bit hard as if it wasn't fresh or had been exposed to air for some time. On the other hand... The tater tots were served warm and tasty. Service was nothing impressive. This place is going to get business no matter what due to the location and the music venue but I hope they pay a little more attention to quality before they lose customers.

We came here for lunch after a little browsing at Cargo. The seating was all outside, but it was covered which was nice in the event of rain. Typically, I don't order vegetarian options, but I just wasn't in the mood for meat. This sandwich was delicious and flavorful. I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything. I would definitely order it again.

Lame place now!!! A restaurant that Supports ANTIFA? Restaurant has poor taste in visual decorations by posting ANTIFA bumper stickers. I felt this place openly has become political and doesn't make me want to go back inside to see the signage. I will not be going back here because of their political decorations. There food is okay, prices are high and atmosphere isn't good.

We stopped in for daytime sandwiches and were pleasantly surprised! Solid variety of sandwiches, including solid ingredients like sustainable seafood and perfectly seared meats. Only docking one star for the ambience, it's clear this place is more of a bar or event space so during the day is a bit dark.

Can't say enough about this place the food was amazing very unique but even our kids who are somewhat picky eaters really enjoyed everything they had. Have to say the tater tot's were also by far the best we've ever had.

I'm really bummed that I have give this place such a low rating. The same thing has happened multiple times, so perhaps this will correct the issue. I ordered a turkey club, no mayo. After all the tips (for staff and doordash driver) my sandwich was about $21. Guess what my included with my sandwich? Yup, mayo! That's not something you can just take off so no dinner tonight. Please be cautious about ordering from Bunk if you are particular!

Sandwiches are to die for. I just got the fried chicken sandwich and it's just the best. Highly highly recommended

We decided to try it after reading the reviews. The server gave our order to another table. Nothing we ordered was bad, per se, but none of it was outstanding either. Basic burger, roasted brussel sprouts, mac and cheese, mushroom soup, lemonade. Of that group, the mac was the best but the portion is small. Frozen fries out of a bag. I had hoped for a lot more flavor for the mushroom soup but it was bland. Guess I'm still lamenting the loss of Old Wive's Tale's epic version. We did not go at Happy Hour and we did not order alcoholic beverages so maybe that's where they shine but we won't be back. Good to know: It's a bar and it's not fancy (booth vinyl was torn up). Order at the bar, seat yourself, get your own water, napkins & cutlery. On street parking is always tough in this part of town, good luck.

So, the food is good. I mean, really good. The drinks are well made... long pours always make me happy. If these were the only two aspects of consideration, BOOM #FiveStars BUT! I am not a fan of anyplace I have to go to you for service. It's like Sizzler, or your high school cafeteria. You go up and get in line to order, get your table marker, and find an empty seat. I sit at the bar. ALWAYS. So it was an irritation, but I didn't have to experience it first hand. Taking that into account, however, I'd still rank this place super high up there. 4-4.5, easily. BUT!!! The emotionless, personality-devoid, robotic staff ruin it. Our main android turned server/bartender didn't crack a smile much less acknowledge me until after attending to her deli line (which arrived after I sat at the rail); she took my order, poured my phat Hornitos (ah-thank you), and ignored me once the food was delivered. I tried to engage in witty banter after basic communication failed. Her co-worker showed up, clocked in 3 feet from me, and went about his day as well. They didn't even speak to each other for a good 15 minutes. Overall, if you are just in it for the drink and food, EPIC WIN. However, if you'd like the service staff to even act like you exist... maybe consider a more upbeat, friendly place like the gynecologist. Menu: A la cart. Sandwiches, soups, tots, and fries. Try the Cincinnati Chili... sweet and delicious. Bar: full. Happy hour from 3-6 daily.

I had big expectations for the pork belly Cuban sandwich since it has aired on several TV shows. The sandwich was forgettable. Certainly not bad by any means but nowhere near the amazing work of art painted by Guy and other hosts. The pork belly meshed well with all of the ingredients. Loved the mustard and pickle chips. A huge upgrade could have been the side options as the only choice is potato chips. Overall it was good but not great. I wouldn't go out of my way for it but would be satisfied ordering it again.

Really good sandwiches! I got the meatball sub and it was so freaking good-- almost like a pizza sandwich. The service is good and the vibe is pretty chill.

Good happy hour, decent selection of taps, tasty sandwiches, but the portion is really small for the items on the regular menu. I work a few blocks away from Bunk Bar and sometimes I would wander in during happy hour for a small bite or a drink. I would say their happy hour deals are pretty sweet including the brussel sprouts and the reuben sandwich. However, the sandwiches on their regular menu are a bit too small for the price I am paying. In the vicinity, there are plenty of better places that offer high-quality food at a more reasonable price. As a conclusion, go for a happy hour and hold your horse from the regular menu item.

The Pandemic has been tough for the Bunk Shops. We live in the Seattle area and have traveled to Portland for the Pork Belly Sandwiches. All the varied menu items are great. You won't be disappointed, even if you do the marathon trip. Afterwards you can go to Voodoo Donuts and losten yer belt to cap off your visit. Bon Appetite.

Our sandwiches from here were fantastic! We also had a frozen margarita which was also really good. I highly recommend this place

Really good sandwiches. Like really really good. Meatball sub was bomb (one of the best I've had - meatballs had great flavor) - added mushrooms, which was a great move, they didn't skimp on them at all. Cubano super tasty too. Bread was perfect level of crunch.

I admit, I go to most sandwich places because of my husband. I balk at the thought of paying $10 for a sandwich. Yes, I know they use good quality ingredients and it's no Subway. I understand they need to pay their employees a decent wage. I still balk. That said, if it's a great ultimate sandwich, I don't balk. I pay up, I shut up and eat (hint hint). The sandwich I got was the Cubano. It's good, a bit dry. I could taste the ham, the pork belly, the pickles and cheese and crispy bread. I wanted more...more mustard, most saltiness, more melty deliciousness. On the plus side, they seem to give you a few more kettle sandwiches than the five they used to plop on there. Let's just say, it's been about three years in-between since I've gone to Bunk's. I liked my sandwich, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go back.

Ok so first off, I realized upon arrival this is more of a bar spot. Bunk showed up on so many "must try" lists for restaurants, so we came here. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and my husband got the Italian. His was awesome! Fresh, tasty meat and cheese with really good hot peppers. Bravo. My fried chicken sandwich was inedible. I was really hungry but honestly I should have sent it back. The sauce was the only redeeming part. The chicken itself looked sickly and tasted like cardboard. I'm gagging now thinking about the chicken. It was awful. I ate half of it and then threw the rest out. It did not taste fresh and was just gross. I guess if I was drunk maybe it would have been passable...? I don't recommend that sandwich but get the Italian and you'll be happy.

Food is great but service is super slow. 45 minutes for 3 sandwiches at 1:30 in the afternoon? No thanks.

22Aug18 @12:15pm Would have been there a bit earlier but drove around looking for a parking space until we found the pay lot on the opposite corner. Nice industrial place with no decorations. Bar on one end, booths along the windows and tables and chairs in the remaining area. Order at the bar and get a number and they bring the food out. Not slow not fast but friendly service. All the booths were filled but most of the tables were empty when we arrived. A steady stream of customers during our meal. We had the pork belly cubano @ $10.50. A bit expensive and a better price @ $8 during happy hour. Food came out much quicker than anticipated. The sandwiches were hot and good with nice bread that was crispy on the outside and soft inside. Nice but not abundant fillings. Just nothing there that stood out. Overall average or slightly above average.

Bunk Bar is an offshoot of the wildly popular Bunk, noted Portland sandwich purveyor, which specializes in a short list of awesome sandwiches. We were actually meeting for dinner around the corner at Boke Bowl, an impressive start-up that serves mash-up variations of ramen and a few other Asian dishes. Boke was closing early, so we ordered take-out there, and I zipped around the corner to get a to-go sandwich from Bunk. The muffaletta, a New Orleans invention, came about as a result of the proprietor of a local establishment called Central Grocery, improvised on the small plate he was serving local Italian farmers a hundred years ago. The farmers, selling their produce at the local market, would stop by Central and order a little Italian meat, cheese, and bread. Salvatore Lupo, proprietor, decided to put the meats and cheese, with some olive salad (diced olives and vegetables, oregano, garlic), on a 9 round loaf for convenience sake. A legend was born. So I order Bunk's version, which is pretty close to spot on, with the exception of the roll (generally not available outside of New Orleans). Bunk used (it appeared to me) a hearty version of a French boule, which was, to me, a pleasing choice. A full muffaletta in New Orleans is generally too much for one diner, and at Bunk, the same would be true. Their sandwich is approximately 1/4 of a loaf, and at $8, is worthy of recognition from visitors from the Crescent City. I'd be wanting to try Bunk for some time, and thanks to Boke closing early on the day we were going out, I've found a new favorite place. Can't wait to try some of their other sandwiches.

I was hesitant to make a review because I know small businesses are struggling during this time of the pandemic, however after receiving my DoorDash delivery from this restaurant last night I discovered two strategically placed black hairs in my turkey club sandwich. The only reason I discovered this before eating it is because I took it apart to take the tomato off. I'm so extremely disappointed! I want to help small restaurants during this time but this is just disgusting. I'll never order another DoorDash to go from anywhere again after this experience. What's even more disappointing is that employees are doing this on purpose hurting their employers knowing that restaurants are struggling to make it. Makes me want to throw up every time I think about it. I guess think twice about ordering from certain places. Stay safe!

I stopped here with a work team during happy hour and I had never heard of the place before. It was a pleasant surprise! The mole tots we're incredibly delicious and for a great price of $4 for happy hour. I also had the Cubano sandwich with ham and pork belly! Fantastic meal, and I'm inclined to return and bring other with me for a satisfying meal experience. I highly recommend the mole tots.

This place was recommended for its lunch sandwiches. I know, a bar for lunch? The sandwiches were awesome and we plan on going back for happy hour when we return to Portland.

Used to be one of my favorite spots. Not sure if they are under new management, why there's burgers and fried chicken on the menu, but was served a $13 sandwich on clearly week old bread. I'm not mad, just disappointed. I feel bad for the chefs who push this trash out the window. Goodnight monks, and cheese bar. Goodnight bunk.

I'm usually not a sandwich person or a pork belly person.. But I kept an open mind when I tried the pork belly cubano at a Portland winter hawks game. First of all the sour dough bread is amazing filled with soft pork belly,ham,Swiss, mustard and pickles. Perfection I tell you! I was curious about their other menu items so I went into the actual restaurant to see what they had to offer. Not only is there many delectable sandwiches but they also have many sides. I tried their signature mozzarella sticks and creamy tomato soup. Wow! They did not disappoint at all! This will be a must eat when I return to Portland !!

I can't figure out what the hype is about with this place. I must be too old or just not cool enough to get it. No big surprise there really. To me this was yucky. The mole tots were well I'm not sure how best to describe them. It tasted like undercooked spaghetti sauce. I love mole so I was super psyched but no, just no. Now the pork belly Cubano umm no. The bread was fine, good & crispy while also soft but the fine print says pork shoulder and yep it was over cooked pork shoulder with no real taste. We both felt pretty sick to our stomachs after eating half of this mess. Skippable for sure.

This is probably my favorite of all Bunk's locations, unless their truck is out at some park. Maybe I've been lucky to always have good experiences here, but despite sometimes having to wait in a longish line to order, the food has never disappointed. The layout is bright and open with ample seating and a bar to chill at if you can score one of the coveted spots. Best of all is that this location is open past 3pm to go chow down on the amazing Bunk sandwiches! For me it's all about the Italian Cured Meats. What an amazing sandwich! The Bunk marinated peppers are so good! With respect to the the Broad Street Bomber from Shut Up and Eat, the Italian from Bunk is my favorite sandwich in all of Portland. In a perfect world I could order it without the chips and be charged a $1 less, but even despite that I could happily eat the Italian several times a week and not get tired of it.... I guess also in my perfect world someone can eat Italian cured meats numerous times on a weekly basis and have no health consequences what so ever... So in a city full of great sandwich options, if I have to choose one bring me here and I'm stoked.

I really like it here. It's easy for food and drink. Not cheap but easy. Egg sandwich is probably my favorite. I'm not a fan of the a-1 sauce onions on the roast beef but today I must say I thoroughly enjoyed the meatball hero. A tad spicy and delicious. Order at the bar. Food and booze. Bathrooms are shared in the hallway with other nearby establishments. It gets loud as all hellz at night when they bust out the music. I really like it here.

This place is so inconsistent. Last time I was here, food was great. This time- all bad. Bartender totally uninterested in saying anything of note when asking for recommendations. So much so that when askiny about two recommendations between two different sandwiches, he reads the menu description of each. Finally order a roasted cauliflower sandwich as a salad. Big mistake. It's drenched in dressing. Over abundant with oil. And just generally awful. Someone could dip their hands in it and come away with so much oil that they could get freaky between the sheets afterwards. Slippery!

Just get here and have a damn meatball sub! Seriously, this is the best meatball sub in Stumptown. The beet salad is also good. So are the mole tots. Heck, the chicken sandwich is also good. OK...everything I've eaten here is good. Parking is a bit painful, recommend you bike or walk over here. There are Biketown bikes right out front - another great option for you.
