Housed in a converted bomb shelter, this vine-covered hole in the wall is known for dishing out some of the best coffee to be found in the café heartland of Milton. Drop by and relax in the sun with one of Bunker's iced specialties or batch brews. There are plenty of take-home options, including a full range of beans and home brewing products, as well as the rather special casks of Colombian cold brew – another go-to for Brisbane’s sweltering summers. Add in a fully stocked cake and pastry selection from Cosmos Cakes and Chouquette, and you are well and truly looked after at Bunker.

Google
Great coffee, lovely tiny space for a nice cup of coffee. I've been here over a decade ago, just visiting Brisbane this time. I can't believe it's still around. Coffee is still good. The place is still busy

The best filter coffee in Brisbane! The staff are all very friendly. I had one cup and took two more home to stock up. It was so good that I couldn’t resist drinking them all right away. I should buy more!

As a loyal customer of Bunker for many years, I can't recommend it highly enough. Beyond the incredible staff and outstanding service, it's clear why the café has such a devoted following—the coffee is exceptional! For over four years, I've consistently ordered an oat piccolo, and I’ve never once been disappointed. That’s a bold claim, but when you consider the meticulous care and attention the team puts into each cup, it’s easy to see how they maintain such a high standard of quality every single time. I truly admire their commitment to consistency and excellence. A big thank you to the entire team for always delivering!

I am a picky coffee drinker. However, I can say that I was impressed with their coffee today. Temperature and Taste were good. The coffee shop is in a good fun location. There is also the Milton Weekend Market nearby. I have already recommended this coffee shop to my friends to go and try too.

Google
They make excellent coffee and pastry. There is a big queue early on Saturday. It is always a good sign. There were three staff members in this tiny place - it means they are busy enough with workload. The only disadvantage is the price to product ratio. The photo of the takeaway cup costs $6.8. I have medium size hand

Beautiful coffee and amazing service. They treat people with so much respect and out their heart and soul into the coffee.

Yelp
Bunker is literally a hole in the wall coffee spot and it is amazing. The latte I had was among the best I've ever had and definitely the best coffee place we encountered in Brisbane. We have been missing this coffee ever since we left Brisbane. You can buy their coffee online through their supplier 5 Senses. The downside is they only ship within Australia so if you're wanting to ship internationally, you're out of luck for now. Parking isn't too difficult. There is enough street parking in the area that you can find a short term spot to grab your drink and a pastry. They have limited bench seating inside if you want to stay and enjoy your drink. The baristas were all extremely friendly both times we visited and you can tell they have a lot of regulars. If you are in need of caffeine and are in the area, I highly recommend Bunker. 5 stars.

Yelp
For our almost-regular Tuesday lunches, we decided to head to Mrs. Luu's to grab a sandwich, and ended up giving in to our desires for an iced hot chocolate! Oh, the calories! I've been wanting to try Bunker for the longest time, and today was the day. I love the vine covered hub, which reminds me of a burrow, and of a cafe that I used to visit back in L.A. Instead of getting my usual latte, I went for the bottled ice dark chocolate (5). I'm not the biggest fan of hot chocolate, as it's usually too sweet and heavy for me to finish (I know, strange, because I can finish a whole Chipotle burrito), but I decided that the unusually warm weather called for an iced chocolate. We were greeted by a really friendly barista who helped us right away - and well - the iced dark chocolate and dark chocolate mocha were pre-bottled, so there wasn't much work. The iced dark chocolate, made with organic milk (I think?) and fair trade chocolate, was quickly consumed! It wasn't too sweet, and I would definitely go for it again. The iced dark mocha was also really good, and not at all grainy, which often happens in a lot of mochas. My only complaint was that the bottles were a bit harder to open (I prefer Bean's bottles), and the straws were too short and kept falling in! The drinks were so delicious it didin't matter though....

Yelp
Funky little coffee place in the 'burbs, which is set in an old bomb shelter. The coffee here is fantastic! And they serve their cappuccinos with REAL chocolate shavings (either milk or dark) on top. Whilst I didn't get to try it this time, the hot chocolate menu is extensive and I've heard it's a must-try. There's also a small selection of sweet treats for those that like a little something with their coffee, and various magazines to browse through as you sip your drink. The only bad thing about Bunker is that it isn't closer to my work so I could visit every day.

Yelp
Bunker eptiomsises why I have faith Brisbane will sustain its growing 'cool' factor. Taking a disused war-time bunker on Milton Road, Bunker Coffee has turned a small space into a urban retreat. Sitting against the cool brick wall sipping an ice coffee, flat white or hot chocolate you feel a million miles away from the city despite the fact Milton train station is above you. In the same way Blackstar Coffee paved the way for coffee appreciation in Brisbane many years ago, Bunker continues the tradition introducing and encouraging a new set of palettes to appreciate and respect good coffee. They also offer take-home coffee beans which they will grind for you depending on what device you'll be using them in.

Yelp
Stop reading this review, get in your car and drive to Bunker now. Order a hot chocolate (half milk, half dark) and then come back to read this. It's ok, I'll wait. I've seen heaven, and it's covered in vines. Ok, so that might be a little extreme, but when I took my first sip, I literally groaned involuntarily. I might have even rolled my eyes. It's that good. While we were only there for half an hour, when I ventured back inside for a Coffee, the Barista had a knowing smile, and started to write on the cup before I even opened my mouth. Bunker is one of those places that needs to be experienced to be understood, and it's a total joy to do so. Next time I'm there, it'll be a titanic effort not to purchase a take home bag of their chocolate. (Seriously, why are you still here, you could be in the car by now).

Yelp
As the name suggests, Bunker is set in an old bomb shelter/bunker - appearing to be hiding in a large hedge. Cool factor established. Cue iPhone photography frenzy. Inside is what really counts though, so luckily for Bunker it is filled with great staff making amazing coffee to avoid being just a kitschy joint for hipsters to get caffeinated. When we arrived they were about to start a cupping, but having been the third coffee on our rounds, we opted to just have a filter on the grass out the front and enjoy the sunshine. Served in little teapots, the filter is easily shared between two or demolished by one. There's also plenty of cold coffee on offer (great for summer) and the hot chocolates are supposed to be pretty special too. Definitely a must-see on the Brisbane coffee rounds.

Yelp
Bunker only gets four stars because of my bitterness towards it only opening on weekdays. Bunker's coffees, hot chocolates, and iced bottles of both, are truly delicious. Whenever I find the opportunity these days, I will drop by and stock up on a week's worth of happiness in the form of a six-pack of mixed iceds. I love the challenge involved in shaking the bottle enough so that the milky seal that's formed at the top of the bottle gets dispersed. While they did make their best efforts to open on Saturdays, they gave up after only a month or two. The worst part is that they gave up their regular Saturday spot at the Village Markets at Kelvin Grove to give the Saturday opening a good run. (That market spot was taken over by some very worthy gentlemen, but there is still a longing in my heart.) I'll never forget that first hot white chocolate with lavender I had at the Village Markets. I long for you always, Bunker. (The few twitter friends that like to tweet the daily hot chocolate flavour special aren't helping to ease that, either.) I guess it does make it all the more special when I finally get to visit, though. On that note, I have a day off work on Friday, so... you know where I'll be. I sure hope the hot chocolate flavour is snickers. Wait - or lime! Crap, no - sea salt! Ahh, I don't care, just give it to me. (IMPORTANT UPDATE: hot chocolate flavour was jaffa/orange, iced chocolate flavour was lime AND sea salt. BOTH, PLEASE!)

Yelp
A free bite sized lamington for every coffee or chocolate bought here on Australia Day (today!) so get in quick. Love the free stuff. What an interesting little coffee place, it's unique for sure. With a lot of cyclist traffic on weekdays it's not hard to see why they frequent this joint in crowds. The coffee is made quite quickly and while sometimes the flavour seems diluted, the actual coffee they use is really quite tasty. I guess it used to be an old garage or an actual bunker, i'm not too sure, but it's got a solid feel when you walk in to it for sure. Try a double shot latte, they're served in these shot glasses that look like they are very fancy and cost a bit (don't break them okay), the coffee really does hit the right spot here. The only thing I would stress is to go in off peak times, during peak times there is a crowd and you do have to wait, but it's pretty worth the wait to try the coffee.

Yelp
In an unsuspecting garage, in unsuspecting Milton, there hides a little coffee shop that should be experienced by everyone. The vine covered Bunker was originally...well...a bunker! It has since explored many identities. A car port, storage garage, and now a specialty coffee and chocolate shop. It's the design that strikes you immediately. Although a tiny space (fitting 10 people at a squeeze) it has been utilised beautifully. The staff clearly have a great rapport with the regulars, and were friendly and welcoming to this stranger as well which added to the lovely laid back vibe the place has. I had been pre-warned that once I try a hot chocolate from Bunker I won't want one from anywhere else. This warning was totally correct! Despite being tempted by the hot chocolate flavour of the day, lime & sea salt, I decided to stick with the traditional. Served in a clear glass and topped with real chocolate shavings (none of this chocolate powder business) was the best hot chocolate I have experienced. It might sound like puffery, but I kid you not, this is a beverage not to be missed out on! I indulged in a coffee as well and made my choice to go with the blend roasted by Cup in West End. Smooth and rich and lovely. It's the hot chocolate I will be back for though!

Yelp
What makes one coffee shop stand apart from the others? A vine-covered ceiling and wall? 6 packs of iced coffee brewed and bottled on-site? A selection of different beans to choose from for the baristas to make your coffee? No; it's the staff that really cause a place to stick in your memory. Ok so maybe I lied a little there - all of the above have totally made this place unique and memorable. The space is so cosy and inviting (much more so than an old air-raid shelter which is what I imagined it to be like before I visited) and is the perfect place to escape a cold, rainy day. Just try and do so at a non-peak-coffee-ingesting time. It really is small. Anyway, back to the staff. They welcome you as soon as you step inside, ask how you're going and then ask what type of bean you'd like for your espresso. I opted for the more "complex" Columbian bean and was blown away by the full-mouth feel and incredible strength (still being blown away hours later...). I commented on this to the barista and they engaged me in a conversation about the beans for several minutes and went out of their way to pour me a glass of water (even though water is clearly in a position for customers to pour for themselves). Definitely a place I'll be going out of my way to return to, and not just for it's ability to keep my vital organs functioning all day.

Yelp
Bunker coffee can easily be best coffee shop I have been to in Brisbane. Not only all the baristas here are consistently making a perfect cup of coffee every visit, they are always extremely friendly to their customers. As the shop name suggested, the shop is in a bunker/garage, athough it is a little cramped inside, but the atomsphere and the decorations with the vines (real plants) on the wall makes the coffee experience even more enjoyable. If you are the type of person who like lattes, cappuccino or any coffee which contains milk because black coffee is too bitter to handle, then you must give long black at least one shot at Bunker. The long black at Bunker will completely change your the way you think of a black coffee. The chocolate made here is also from Bunker, you will noticed if you order cappuccino, they will use their own grated real chocolate rather than chocolate powder. They also sell licked chocolate ice-cream, which uses their own chocolate. The coffee beans used is from 5 sense coffee and they stock most of the coffee varieties so you can enjoy a nice cup of coffee at home too.

Yelp
Bunker. Omigod. Omigod. Bunker. A skinny flat white that was almost velvety. Perfection.

Britt C.

Yelp
Seriously, the cutest coffee place EVER. If you drove past when they were closed you'd have no idea it turns into a caffeine haven. Love that they have a bit of seating available if you're not on the go. I had an iced coffee and it's my favorite in Brisbane so far! I saw on Facebook they did a bacon hot chocolate once, and I really hope they give it another go!

Tania F.

Yelp
I moved away from Brisbane three years ago. Back then, finding a good coffee was near impossible. How things have changed! I just happened to give Bunker a shot while killing time. I ordered my usual skinny mocha and these guys nailed it! Rich and creamy, smooth and chocolatey, with just a hint of caffeine buzz. The temperature was absolutely perfect. My husband got a 70% dark hot chocolate and it was one of the best I've had. Bunker is definitely a 'takeaway' joint - it's a hole in the wall, literally; there's seating for maybe two people. Having said that, as far as holes-in-the-walls go, it's a charming one, with ivy creeping across the walls and ceiling through the store. They were all out of iced coffees, but next time we visit we'll be back here for sure - now that I've had a taste I want to try one (or ten) of everything!

Yelp
Love this little coffee shop. Not only for their deliciously flavoured hot chocolates, but because the people running the place are truly lovely. My car was parked across the road when someone reversed into it. When I found the damage, they came out and gave me the registration details of the car who had hit my car and driven away. So grateful that they took the time to help!

Leigh Z.

Yelp
Bunker is a tiny venue that in terms of size is probably only one step up from a coffee cart. To be honest you might drive past it and not even realize that it is there. The little bunker/bomb shelter is fitted out with a coffee machine, a couple of fridges and a few pieces of furniture. A quaint friendly atmosphere created by the staff is helped by the creeping vines that cover the walls and the roof making it a place that you are unlikely to forget. Another thing that you wont forget? The amazing coffee that is on offer! Bunker ships its coffee up from Five Senses based in Victoria. The Five Senses crew definitely know how to roast a good coffee, and the team at Bunker certainly brings out the best of what Five Senses have to offer. The full range of standard hot beverages are made to top quality, but the item I have fallen in love with at Bunker is their fantastic selection of iced coffees and iced chocolates that they make and bottle themselves. If you are in the area and want a great coffee - hot or cold - make your way down to Bunker.

Yelp
One of the more pleasant experiences in Brisbane, this place is an oasis. I don't really enjoy the street scape, in fact I hate it, but Bunker Coffee is too good to miss, so ignore the world surrounding. I'm a fan of hot chocolate, and on a brisk winter's day there is nothing more pleasing than the deluxe drink they serve in one of their Bodum glasses. The world is pleasant in a very European way within the confines of the small cafe. The food, coffee and tea they serve here is always premium in quality, and while it's probably a little more expensive than other coffee outlets, the price is well worth it. The irony of a small cafe like this is that it's a stone's throw from a street full of second rate cafes, yet no one seems willing to walk a small distance to this outlet. Goodie, more for me!

Renee M.

Yelp
I want to work at the car repair place across the road so I can come and sample the awesomeness of this place on a daily basis. Usually I'm not that impressed with 'coffee only' places, I like food! But this place is special. It has a cool vibe, even the glasses they serve the coffee in is cool! And then there is the hot chocolate! Peppermint! The kids let out a collective groan of joy when they tasted it! Will definitely come back and soak up some more coolness next time I am in town!

Cameron R.

Yelp
Discovered this place yesterday by accident. Looks like an old one car garage converted into a funky little cafe. Yesterday they had a jazz guitarist playing live music. I had a single origin espresso that was awesome. My only complaint is that they don't have cream to serve with their coffee but then again most cafes in Brisbane haven't cottoned on to that trend yet.

Fi C.

Yelp
Coffee with a kick and super amazing ginger chocolate milk for a special treat.

Liam F.

Yelp
A favorite - make sure you try each of the iced coffees. Be aware that the milk used is unhomogenised - you WILL need to shake it VERY thoroughly before drinking if you dislike lumps in your milk. Coffee also excellent. Only drawback of Bunker (and I use the term loosely here) is its size. Don't go there expecting shelter in a rainy/super hot day - there are few tables under cover and this place does stay business.

Katie B.

Yelp
Always a quick but great coffee here and it's lovely to sit in the sun in the early morning. Sometimes it's hard to grab a park but it's always worth it...
