Buns From Home Review - Notting Hill - London - The Infatuation

"When focaccia smells so good that we sprint to the nearest bench to bite off huge chunks, just know it’s pretty special. And the mammoth focaccia slice you'll find at this in-and-out takeaway bakery off Portobello Road is excellent. But it’s not even the best thing we've had at Buns From Home. They specialise in croissant buns, essentially double-baked, layered croissant dough with a range of flavours that includes cinnamon and cardamom. They also do savoury ones topped with avocado or pulled chicken and dessert buns, filled with custard cream, tiramisu, cheesecake, or whichever special happens to be on when you're there. Focus your efforts on the dessert buns—just make sure you get there with plenty of time to spare as they tend to sell out. " - Rianne Shlebak

I used to be borderline obsessed with bunsfromhome — back in 2021 I’d get three buns every few days like it was my summer diet. But since they turned into a chain, the quality’s gone steadily downhill, while prices have gone up. The buns are often burnt, dry, and the fillings feel like an afterthought. I got the dulce de leche bun today, hoping it was just a bad run - but again was disappointed - the bun was so burnt it was like chewing charcoaled cardboard. What a shame.

This is the pastry I recieved on my recent visit 31/03. Requested a 'fresh' pistachio bun which was provided by the server from there ovens. When I arrived home to my disbelief the pastry was completely burnt. I paid 4.45 for this item. I Did not think to open the bag but to anyone coming to this establishment I recommend you do. The same day , I emailed buns from home expressing my concerns but after 5 working days there has been no response. Overall, poor pastry , and non existent service , therefore I feel obliged to leave this review for other potential customers to see and make there own judgment as to whether this pastry is worth it.

I go to Buns from Home weekly to get the weekend special and once a month for their amazing focaccia bread but someone I pop in just to get my bun fix. My absolute favourite place for baked goods. Everything they do it delicious.

Am I the only scroll-eater who delights in peeling them apart, layer by layer? The gossamer thin sheets were delightfully soft and buttery, but a tad more cinnamon flavour would not have gone astray. 91/2 / 10.

Stopped by Buns from Home this morning before my flight home. I did not realize that there would be so many options....plus savory bun options. I got a cinnamon bun option and what I believe was a vanilla bun option. Really happy with my options. They tasted great and fresh. I have a sweet tooth and was happy as I ate vanilla one of them on my flight home. There was a good ratio to bun and filling. I need to stop at one of the other locations on my next trip to London.

Amazing cute little buns place! Their dough is deliciously crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. All the flavours are extraordinary, but my favourites are Berry Cheesecake and Spinach and Feta. And the coffee is great as well!

I love Buns from Home but this one was the worst one I have been to. It was afternoon a and the selection was small which is fair enough. But both of the buns we bought were very dry like a 2 days old bread. Also, see how small the dulce de leche bun is! Half the usual size. A bit sad but loved the cow ❤️

Honestly, this place is my guilty pleasure! Walking up Holland Park I was initially drawn in by the sweet aroma filling the street. Absolutely delicious freshly cooked buns, a range of toppings, personal favourite as to be pistachio, close 2nd is cinnamon. If your close I would definitely recommend a visit if your looking for a sweet treat!
