Bunz Handcrafted Burgers

We made out first visit to this establishment during our vacation stay this week. I liked the environment it was low key great seating space and felt like very inviting. I would have loved to see a little better service like when it came to greeting we got nothing. There was no recommendation of what would be good to try or a little short talk just to see how we were. I would say we liked the food, the burgers were juicy and thick with nice toasted buns. I think this place had the best fries I've ever had seriously. I would definitely take the family back for a visit in hopes that the hospitality is as good as the food. A little pricy but the quality of food you get makes it worth it.

One of the best burgers I've had in a while! I ordered the Z combo ($13 for Z Bunz burger, fries, and a drink). Burger was cooked perfectly. Taste was incredible. The fries were solid (don't know if hand-made there or frozen) but they tasted fine and hit the spot. I'd go back tomorrow if I could for the burger, though! Whatever they're doing, keep doing it!

Really good burgers, tasty and juicy with fresh ingredients. Someone might like the smoky taste, but I'm not a big fan. Anyway the lady behind the counter was very helpful and kind. Prices are kind of high but not so much that you would complain. Overall realy good burgers and we enjoyed our stay.

First time customer, we were in town visiting and it was across the street from our hotel. Restaurant was full of customers eating but it was not busy at the register. Service was excellent, very polite and helpful. I ordered two Z combos. Wait was about 10 mins to get my food. Burger was just ok and I would have preferred dill pickles and not the sweet pickles. The fries were awesome! I had the regular but they did offer sweet potato fries too. The inside was clean and maintained. Would recommend this restaurant.

Stopped by in our vacation and it was such a great decision! The food was amazing and vibes were great too! Tried the Cheek Buns and… chefs kiss the cheese was delicious and compliment the rest of the burger perfectly, 10/10!! The fries were also so good and crispy 10/10 recommend picking them up when you visit! We will definitely be back before leaving San Antonio!

Had a great lunch, portion was perfect for a between-work lunch and left not feeling too full. Made as soon as you order, with the full kitchen on display(love it!). The shake was incredible as well, ate it before I could take a picture!

Honestly, best burger I’ve had in San Antonio. Fresh buns, juicy and flavorful burgers, delicious and different fries. Employees are friendly and super convenient if heading to the majestic afterward. Highly recommend.

Food was good. Very creative with the options they have. Presentation is nice. Higher price point for sure. I got the Mercedes burger and my friends got other ones. We all enjoyed it. Fries were great. They were like thicker spiral fries. Nice that they have spicy ketchup too. Will definitely be back if I’m ever in the downtown area and craving a good burger

this was my review for the other location before it closed... so disregard everything except the part where i review the food! this place has such a clean and cool ambiance (not too bright, not too dark) and they're so friendly towards students- they even have a student discount! :D i don't know if they still have this, but they have an arcade machine! torito bunz: 6/10 it was very juicy and fresh but i think the beans just weren't my thing cuz of grease!! bombardier fries: 9/10 these were so flavorful and loaded! we couldn't finish so i had leftovers that i used for a a snack only critique is that the sour cream tasted a tiny bit weird

There are millions of options when it comes to getting a burger in this town, but most of them are terrible. That is why Bunz is a breath of fresh air. Their patties are juicy and delicious, and the price point rivals what you would pay at a drive through. The service was good. The restaurant was clean and smelled good. Next time you are thinking about a burger, skip the grey meats from DQ or what have you, and check out Bunz. Def recommend.

I popped into this place on a whim before a tattoo appointment and I've been hooked ever since. Whether you're ordering a seafood burger, loaded fries or one of their hamburgers, you are surely bound to have an explosion of flavor. It sometimes takes a bit for the food to come out, but it is always worth a little wait time. The inside isn't anything fancy but it gets the job done with plenty of tables. If you're craving something sweet after or even while you eat, their milkshakes are just the right amount of thick and sweet. Service at times may be a bit rushed but that doesn't stop me from going back time and time again.

Great burger and fries! And the had gluten free buns - huge bonus! I wish they had some type of alcohol option. My husband would have enjoyed a beer with his burger. Polite customer service. Fast-casual environment with some spunk. Definitely recommend!

Bunzai Burger definitely filled me up, I did not even get fries. The bbq sauce is a nice blend of sweet with a tiny kick. The jalapeños and slaw are a good balance to all the meat. Would definitely go back to try the different menus items.

Picked up a to-go order while downtown. Everything was outstanding! Love the twist on the fries; it made them crispy with the perfect amount of salt. The ZBunz burger was amazing: the patty was thick and very tasty. Extras included cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, delicious thick pickles -which were slightly sweet - and the special sauce. The bun was homemade and thick and was very tasty. High quality establishment. Can't wait to return!!

They have validated parking!! Ask when you order and they'll give you a ticket for the garage across the street. The burgers here are made fresh and are big portion size. They're all creative flavors and of course you can just get the classic one too. There's a good amount of seating and it's a very casual vibe.

I really liked this place! The bombardier fries were amazing!!!!!! Like what?!? At first it did look questionable but I thoroughly enjoyed all the flavors the bacon was so crispy and mouthwatering I could not stop eating them! The burger was flavorful the buns were toasty and super tasty. Meat was cooked medium well to perfection. I really wish I lived in Texas so I can come back here over and over again.

First time trying this burger place, they have homemade buns and the burger are big and tasty, the staff is very friendly even when we go almost at closing time. The place has a casual vibe and family friendly. They have parking across the street.

No lie, we are a picky hamburger snobby family, preferring our home griddled smash burgers that we have been perfecting over the years...then we stumbled upon Bunz across the street from our hotel...WOW!!! When I say the great reviews were spot on I mean it!!! No wonder it has been voted the BEST burgers in SanAntonio! Juicy but not sloppy, flavorful but not over concocted, fresh, fresh, fresh! Even the French fries were perfect! Oh, and the Chicken sandwich was perfect as well!!! Not to mention the cookies! Go see for yourself

Omg what a colossal burger! I got the bunzai burger which came with BBQ Asian pork ribs and coleslaw. It was good but I didn't really get the Asian zing I wanted. However, my friend got the vegan burger and I was shocked at how authentic it looked! Leave it to Texans to make a good vegan meat. If you dine here bring your appetite because the portions are huge! Also try the fries because they are delicious! Service was great and it's a nice little shop right by the river walk, so you can escape the crowd and the wait for food! Shout out to the team, they were working extra hard for a Saturday!

Came here because first place I went to was out of pizza... Man- this is a GOOD BURGER! Perfect! -Fresh meat - cooked perfectly! -Patty not too thin but not too thick -Burger was messy as it should be! -everything melded perfectly... cheese and sauce and pickles- MMMMMM! Wow! After a very long meandering walk around the area I was in search of some food and I was tired of the hotel offerings. I had walked forever and a day and decided that out of all I had seen this was my best bet. It was welcoming from the outside and I walked in. Inside it gives you that hip vibe you would expect from a burger joint. Bright lights, tall ceilings, varying heights of seating, chalkboard menu, quick paced kitchen. See, everything you would expect to find at a burger joint like this. I'll be honest, this is one place that I did not see the menu beforehand and I needed a minute to read it over, choose, and then order. I was that annoying customer that people probably despise while standing in line. After reading over the menu I decided that I wanted to keep it simple and sent with what is characterized as a cheeseburger and fries. Or at least that was my intention. The Z Bunz Burger delivered on how it was described. A classic patty topped with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle and a sauce. That's all put between a brioche bun and it was delicious. However, when I went to order the fries I had asked about the Bombardier Fries and after given a description of them, I had decided I would go with regular fries and happy with that. But, when my food was ready for me to pick up I ended up with the Bombardier Fries. These fries, even though they were not the ones I wanted, were amazing. I'm starting to appreciate the semi spiral cut thick fries as they serve a great purpose for dipping and holding the dip. The dip combo here was sour cream, bacon, green onions, and cheese. Was it messy? Yes. Was it worth the mix up? Also yes. They were some darn good fries and I would definitely get them again if I were to ever come back.

Bunz has GREAT burgers, juicy and full of flavor! The fries are really good too especially the loaded fries, we left out the goat cheese but added cheddar cheese. Seating is great if you have a large party or small party. Counter service was very friendly and knowledgeable, prices are on par for this restaurant and its location. Parking can be tricky but we made it work since we wanted to walk around downtown anyway.

The burgers and fries here were absolutely delicious, and quick! Very casual atmosphere and you can tell the folks that work here are dedicated to their craft. I had the Bunzai and could not believe how good it was. Definitely making my way back here next time I'm in town!

So we were simply in the area after a prior engagement of my daughter's and she asked for burgers. I'm not a huge burger fan HOWEVER this spot has definitely question that decision lol. OMG everything was delicious! The ambience inside and outside is great! I will definitely be back!! Very soon!

An amazing dinner! The buns at buns are just hard to describe - but they are amazing. We had the Chicking Chicking which is a sandwich with secret house breaded chicken, spicy honey mustard, coleslaw, pickles, jalapeño and Monterrey Jack cheese. It was one of the most flavorful sandwiches I've had in a very long time. It was truly wonderful! We also tried the Loaded Bombardier Fries which are thin sliced twisted fries with goat cheese, sour cream, Parmesan, cilantro, bacon and chives. Also wonderful - flavorful and just really good. Finally we tried a pretzel and Nutella shake. Oh My Goodness - talk about an epic shake. They have super wide straws so you can drink it or you can use a spoon - either way, awesome. I'd stop in just for one of these. The staff was friendly and personable - just a great all around experience. We will definitely go back!

This was my first time trying Bunz. The burger was perfect, from appearance to flavor. I ordered the house Z burger and the flavor of the actual patty was amazing, the bun was the perfect combination of soft and flavorful. It was memorable and the best burger I've had in years. The fries were also really good and perfectly salted, staff was quick and friendly, and the place was clean. I'll definitely be back! I also felt the price for a burger with fries and a bottled drink was just right! Highly recommended!

I was excited to see a Vegan burger on the menu but honestly it wasn't that great. The beyond meat had no seasoning, the bun was too small for the size of the meat. I was not impressed

DT San Antonio on a Tuesday is empty. first impression, friendly staff. Food came out and chick sand was pretty darn good. Pickles were crunchy and the slaw was just sweet enough. Wife and son enjoyed their beef bunz. Come give it a try. I came all the way from CA for chicken sand that beats chick-fil-a...imo.

It was alright. The burger left something to be desired. Fries were nice and crisp, but needed salt. The service was meh. Recently, as I've gotten older, I was good, kind service. Service can make or break a place for sure.

Avoiding animal products. Went to an event and all the way home decided to stopat Bunz. I've never been here, but was a frequent visitor of the grill at Leon Springs. I have to say hands down the best vegan burger I have ever had. My husband enjoyed his regular burger immensely will definitely be back.

Lived up to the reviews. Excellent burger. Super casual, the seating area could be cleaner and wiped down more often.

All I can say, is WOW. They did not disappoint. We used to come downtown and go to Fuddruckers when it was still open. That was when our kids were little. Some folks liked it and some don't. We haven't found a great burger place in a while, but we are so glad Bunz is here!! Hopefully to stay. Careful what you order, tho. It's a lot. Oh so tasty tho!

Burgers are ok, the regular fries were great. We also got the Bombardier fries and threw most of them away. GOAT cheese does not go with the rest of these ingredients on this item. We ordered several meals and they only had tiny plastic cups so it was a constant run back and forth to get our refills. It was our first meal on vacation in the area and wouldn't go back anytime soon.

First time trying this place and I can say it was pretty good. The flavor of the meat was good. My only gripe about the burger was the sauce they put on it. I asked for the sauce on the side but they put it on the burger. Also the bun didn't hold up. As I was eating the bun fell apart. Service was good and friendly. Another issue I had was the restaurant needed to be cleaned. The floors looked dirty and the area where they have the ketchup and mustard was very dirty. It needed to be wiped down thoroughly. Give it a try and see if anything has improved

The food was delicious I had the award winning crab burger beach bunz. The service was amazing he played with my daughter in fuzball and the food came out very fast, and all the employees were very polite. I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for a burger place in San Antonio Texas.

They have a variety of burger options. I had the Bunzilla, which was very tasty. My burger did not fall apart as I ate it.

A juicy burger cooked medium well served with some unique dipping potatoes that are crispy and fresh. The buns are the star. They are fluffy, buttery and stacked to create an awesome burger. Great service and atmosphere here too.

Excellent food and very fast service! The guy working the register helped me figure out what to get for my first time there. Definitely will return!

Yummy burger and fries! I had the Cheek Bunz Burger (lettuce wrapped +$1 more) and the Bombardier Fries. Burger was well cooked and delicious! The Bombardier fries were an interesting and delicious take on loaded cheese fries; the fries itself had some kind of very slight sweetness to it that I enjoyed. Service was quick and effective, being ready when I came to pick up at the promised time. If definitely come back again sometime if I happen to be on the area again I didn't dine in--but the ambiance seems chill when I went to pick up my order.

I ordered the lunch special which is a burger, fries and drink for around $13. I was charged $30, assumed maybe the veggie burger was not included in that special so I didn't question it. The bun is buttered, burgers are quite heavy and greasy. I went with a group and we all had trouble finishing our food. If that's what you're looking for at lunch, this is your place, but personally I prefer lunch that doesn't make you feel like you need a nap afterwards.

My family and I wanted to try Pinkertons bbq down the street from this place and they had a line around the block. We quickly pivoted and chose Bunz. There was no wait and it was a very wholesome chill vibe. The burgers were perfect and didn't have too much fuss. I had the cheek bunz burger and a churro shake and it made all the anxiety of downtown San Antonio seem like a distant memory. My 18 month old niece was smiling ear to ear and loved it as well as the rest of my family. 1000% WORTH IT!!!! Great job you guys!

This is the perfect place to grab a bite to eat near the Majestic & Empire Theatres. I had the cheek bunz burger, which comes with Boursin cheese, arugula, tomato, caramelized onions, and two strips of bacon. It was delicious and filling. For dessert I shared the pretzel Nutella shake with my boyfriend. It has small, crunchy pretzel chunks. My boyfriend absolutely loved this shake. It's not overly sweet like a purely Nutella shake would be. If you like the sweet and salty pretzel Nutella combination, you'll enjoy this shake.

Stopped in on a whim to satisfy a burger hankering. Pleasantly surprised by the great burger (got the "Cheek Bunz") and chocolate shake. The beef patties were cooked to order & perfection (they offer medium rare for those brave souls). The Manager gave us recommendations since it was our first time. Did not disappoint. Will add this burger joint to our rotation the next time we are in town. Give this place (or their other location downtown) a try!

So I hate to do this cause good places don't deserve a bad rating but I hate wasting my time and my money. Me and my work team thought we were going to enjoy a delicious burger asked for well done burgers and receive rare all 5 team members received rare burgers. Called to let the manager know we were told we will receive a refund well that never happened so we all are out of a meal and money. Check your burger before leaving the store and don't count on a refund cause it's not happening.

The menu they have is not very diverse but that makes them excel at what they do offer. As a student I remember going across the highway from UTSA to their satellite location and getting awesome food from friendly people and the food they provided embodied the definition of comfort food especially after a hard test. I recently went to their downtown location and was thankful to see that the quality was exceptional in both locations and that it was also very family friendly.

Cool little spot across the street from the AC Marriott Hotel, and came highly recommended. I grabbed a breakfast sandwich on my way out for work. The location has an eclectic vibe and the food is made fresh. I assumed it would take longer, so I went to get my car from the garage. Upon telling the Chef, he was kind enough to offer to bring it to me when I drove up. And even included free tater tots! It's those small gestures that will ensure I stop by on my next work trip to San Antonio. I would love to come back and try the burgers.

How can any serious burger enthusiast give more than three stars? And a Readers Choice Award in 2022 for best burger? No way. Makes you ponder that "age old question": are businesses paying people to leave these awesome reviews? Look, I'm a "burger guy" - love 'em. They are my all time favorite food, so I'm tough on burger joints. My experience in three words: small, bland, and over-priced. The whole thing started when I got in line behind a gentleman who was flirting with the young lady behind the counter. Neither one of them seemed to care I was standing there. I eventually ordered the Z Bunz and added bacon (are people really charging $1.50 to add bacon these days? Holy smokes). As I found my seat, my mouth watered with what I assumed would be a goliath like burger for which I'd just paid $22.00 (now, to be fair, that price included fries and a drink). BUT STILL - you read that right. TWENTY. TWO. DOLLARS. The burger I carried back to my seat disappointed from the start. The size disappointed, the amount of sauce disappointed. In fact, I'm not sure what they're trying to do with that "Z sauce". What little sauce that WAS on the burger was so watery you couldn't tell whether it was sauce or just natural grease from the burger. I can tell you the "sauce" is pink...ish. I think. Or, come to think of it, that may have been remnants from the tomato I requested NOT be on the burger, but that was obviously hastily taken off after they realized their mistake. I tasted nothing; I think the only thing I tasted on that burger was the lettuce. No way that patty had any seasoning on it. Best part of the meal were the fries, which were good and crispy.

Such a variety of burgers. Delicious fresh baked buns and the hamburger was so juicy. I loved the flavored special sauce too. Great value for the $

This is a great burger spot! The burgers are seasoned perfectly, pair that with a toasted bun and you get perfection. I ordered the Z Burger which is the house burger that comes medium on a toasted bun, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and house sauce. I opted to add caramelized onions to my burger and it was a great choice. The combo comes with fries and a drink. The fries weren't overly salty or too bland, they were seasoned just right. They have a condiments bar that includes regular ketchup, spicy ketchup, and yellow mustard. There are fountain drinks and bottled drinks available. Overall, I enjoyed this restaurant and when I'm downtown, this will be my casual go to eatery.

Back again and can't get enough. Second time in a week to enjoy the decadence of these burgers. So good, had the Bunzai and the Cow. So much cheesy goodness. Will be back again and again until made it through the menu. Love it.

My coworkers and I checked out this nice little burger spot near the convention we attended in Texas. It was so packed here! We had to wait a while in line to order, then we waited again for the food, but I believe they were working as fast as they could! The wait was pretty long since there were a lot of people, so come if you have time to kill (or check google so you're not arriving at a busy time). I tried the Ocean Bunz ($13.45) and Bombardier fries ($6.95). The Ocean Bunz had blackened shrimp, chipotle mayo, tomatoes, avocado relish, and lettuce, everything I love. All of those ingredients mixed harmoniously together and tasted amazing in one bite. It was a little messy though, but so worth it!! The fries were also very delicious! We all got a mix of different fries and shared them. You really can't go wrong with fries. I wanted to try their milkshakes too, but knew I would be too full so I passed. Maybe next time! :')

I am from North Carolina traveling for work and hands down the best meal I have had! The burger was delicious and juicy and the customer service was wonderful!

Wife and I tried their Z Bunz burger and it was great! The bun itself was so good and the meat was seasoned well. The service and ambiance were laid back and chill.
