Vietnamese Coffee Thunders Into San Francisco with Trendy Pop-Up Nâu Coffee | Eater SF

"You’ll wait at least an hour in line on Valencia Street to try San Francisco’s buzziest Saigon-style coffee drinks: Instagram-friendly, tiger-orange concoctions topped with enough salted cream to guide spirits back to the grave. Inside Bernal Cutlery, the pop-up channels the cafe energy from back home with Vietnamese music, introducing Vietnamese expats to each other and spotlighting Vietnamese products and flavors, and it has sold out at each stop. The tight menu runs pandan, salted, Saigon, and still-popular egg coffees, brewed with a house blend they mix at home the day before service using robusta beans from undisclosed roasters in Buôn Ma Thuột. Lines are no joke, the baristas are tireless, and if it sticks around this could become San Francisco’s first specialty Vietnamese cafe; for now it has bounced from Studio Aurora to Bernal Cutlery and is headed to On Waverly while founders Hân Tran and Kiên Nguyen—Cal Poly alums who grew up in the same Saigon district, became “cafe addicts” here, and still work in consulting despite never having worked in cafes—focus on coffee and community-building." - Paolo Bicchieri

Google
Buon Me Cafe in SJC offers a modern twist on Vietnamese street food with standout dishes like their assorted selections of bánh mì and coffee flavors. The vibe here feels authentic with the traditional decor. Their coffee is a must-try! The service was good as the server kept coming by to fill my water. This is a great spot for anyone who maybe craving Vietnamese food in a casual setting. P.S. lots of parking :)

Very busy restaurant at the grand century mall. First timer here. Interesting interior. It is like you are in Vietnam. They even have the table with stool like street food in Vietnam. We waited about 20 min. There are plenty choices on the menu. We order quick bites mixed rice paper, 4 grilled sample roll, crab roll, buon me egg noodle, and Bun cha hanoi. For drink we ordered peach calamansi and lemongrass, kamquat and salted plum. The food was ready pretty quickly. You can watch them make the mixed rice paper. Overall all the food are good except the 4 grilled roll sampler which for me it is average. I like

Google
The food was fresh and staffs were so friendly. Very authentic Viet food. This restaurant was the first spot of my CA trip and did not disappoint!!! Highly recommend the bun thit nuong and nem cua be. They also have a good variety of traditional drinks that you can try. I think i got the Pandan drink and it was delicious

A friend recommended this place. We ordered fried yams with shrimp and grilled steak. We got the yams, nice and crispy. We waited awhile perhaps 15-20 minutes until we finally asked where the rest of our order was. They didn't put it in our order. We paid for what we got and went elsewhere for the rest of our meal. The decor is fun with Vietnamese nostalgia, music is very loud, perhaps that is the reason we didn't get the rest of our order. Service is rushed, they were not that busy mid-afternoon on a Sunday.

Google
Really cute atmosphere and styled similar to traditional Vietnamese buildings. The food is very good and leans a bit sweet in the seasoning. Drinks were just okay. I got a matcha and my friends got the egg coffee and mung bean coffee. I think their appetizers are over priced. Very busy place and the employees gave us the wrong order and then missed an item. But they were able to sort it out very quickly.

Google
Got some mixed feelings about the place. First thing I don't know if because we came here on a holiday so the servers are kinda overwhelmed by the quantity of the customer; it was hard to get their attention unless when they clean the table or bring foods to you. They are all seem gathering in the front together rather than some corner of the restaurant. However they are still trying to please you when you have any demand. Foods were kinda 50 50 for me. The first disappointment was the crispy calamari. It was very soggy and oily, all the frying powder is separated from the calamari. The Hu Tieu (Dry noodles) is delicious but I just wish they put less sauce in there. It almost like too sweet because too much sauce. The rest of the foods are OK. Overall this place is still a great place to hang out and try some delightful foods. But if they want to stand out and reach to the top, there will be more place for improvement.

Google
The restaurant teleports you to Vietnam, and it feels like you are back in the country at one of the luxurious restaurants over there. The food was very good. The bun cha was tasty and came with a lot of food. It was enough to share with two people. I wish it came with more pork meatballs, but it was still filling. The banh mi chao was a bit oily and I think it was because of the ribeye. I thought it would’ve been ribeye chunks, but it was slices. I would recommend get the bo luc lac instead. The bot chien was my favorite. Simple dish with a great soy sauce. Overall, Buon Me Cafe is a fun place to visit. The decoration is cool. For tet, they bring out all the decorations and make it fun to take pictures. They have an outside patio where they will play sport games. Service was also good. They were friendly and accommodating.

Went to Buon Me Cafe in Vietnam Town with friends over the weekend — such a fun and unique experience! The decor and staff uniforms really give you that Southeast Asian vibe. Highly recommend No.35 DIY spring rolls — super fresh and fun to make. No.4 crispy chicken cartilage was flavorful and crunchy. No.47 macaroni pork soup was a creative fusion and tasted great, light and not greasy. No.24 sizzling steak with bread was also delicious. Their sandwiches are very affordable with super crispy bread. Drinks were fun too — the coconut juice had longan and jelly, and the egg coffee was tasty. Overall, a special and memorable spot worth trying!

Yelp
Popped by for lunch on a Saturday right at noon and the place was completely packed, ended up waiting about 15 minutes for a party of 3 before getting seated. You add yourself to the waitlist in person on an iPad and the restaurant shares a large (but very busy!) lot with the rest of Little Saigon in San Jose. 4 Roll Sampler (4/5): Nothing crazy, just solid summer / spring rolls with a variety of fillings. My favorite is always going to be the one with a fried spring roll in the center for that added bit of texture, but I did like that they also came with a flight of sauces: classic peanut, fish sauce, and my favorite which had a base of crab butter. Banh Mi Chao Bo (4.25/5): Beef was super tender and the sauce is deliciously savory with a bit of tomato flavor. Their version comes with a block of laughing cow cheese, a meatball, and runny eggs. My only complaint is I wish there was a bit more steak, but absolutely delicious and paired exactly how I wanted with the freshly toasted baguette. Hu Tieu Nam Vang (3.75/5): Solid rendition, but didn't blow my socks off. Nice chewy noodles and okay amount of toppings. Broth unfortunately was just okay. I also tried the avocado coconut smoothie, which was absolutely delicious, though a bit sweet. Sugarcane juice with calamansi was a home run for me, with the tartness to round it out. Drinks are fairly steep, $7-9 bucks, but hit the spot and aren't easy to find.

Yelp
It has charming decor and is located inside a large plaza with plelnty of parking. The food comes out hot and there may be a bit of a wait but nothing unusual if the food is being made fresh on a cast iron skillet. This is my second time here and I ordered a #26 while my friend ordered a #25. I found mine to be somewhat salty and needed to drink a lot of water to get it down. My friend thought theirs was fine and was very good. Service here is always a miss in my opinion. The first time I came here was with a large group and they got our orders correct but set it down on the wrong side of the table. As it was a large group, we couldn't see what was happening and there were confusion when most food arrived and things were missing. It would have been better to ask the table on both sides (We had 4 tables put together) whose order they were holding. It didn't happen this time around but our waitress never came back to check on us. We needed extra napkins and most importantly, water refills. The time we went was past the lunch rush hour and the restaurant wasn't even close to being busy.
google avatar

Jamie T.

Yelp
I stopped by on a Tuesday around 1:30 PM--not my first or second choice, but most restaurants in the plaza were closed, and this was one of the few open. Unfortunately, the service was slow and inattentive. Despite only three occupied tables, the waiter forgot to bring napkins and a takeout box. I ended up walking to the counter to pay and grab the box myself. The food was just okay. There was some flavor, but nothing stood out. I'd skip the garlic noodles--they were oily and lacked seasoning. On top of that, there were quite a few small flies hovering around the table, which made the dining experience less pleasant. If you're in the area and other spots are closed, their coffee might be worth a try. Just be prepared to manage your expectations.

Yelp
We ordered bò né, banh trang tron, sun ga chien gion. Everything was good. The portion of banh Trang tron was good amount now they put less. My friend liked the avocado coconut drink. Good place to eat and hang out.

Yelp
Tried this place again for a quick dinner before heading for something else. They decorate their interior like a cafe style in the olden days, love the whole atmosphere Food is very good like always. I will try something different if I come again

Yelp
We popped in here for lunch. There was a bit of a wait but it wasn't long. My tablemates ordered a crispy pork ban mi. This was very good. I ordered a shaking beef garlic noodle. Noodles didn't have enough garlic but beef was flavorful and tender. Restaurant is clean. Service is indifferent. No one came by to refill out water. My noodles showed up after everyone finished their sandwich. Deduct one star for meh svc.
google avatar

Yelp
Came back to try some dishes. Service was good, especially for Asian restaurant. We opted to sit inside as it was too hot outside and people were smoking. The shaken beef with red rice (you can change for garlic rice or noodles):3.5 stars. Good amt of beef and tender meat. However it needed some flavors. We ask for lemons and salt and pepper and dip it in that. Got the #32 which I thought was crab eggroll but it was shrimp egg roll. 3 stars. It was decent and crunchy (freshly made) but it had one shrimp and minced pork and veggies. Liked the accompaniment of veggies and vermicelli but will not be getting that dish again.

Yelp
I enjoyed my dish- hu tieu kho and my stroooong Vietnamese coffee My husband got a durian avocado smash. He said it was as expected The coconut cream coffee was delicious too

Yelp
Came in on a Sunday and ordered for to go. Place was well decorated and in a mall-like area facing parking. Staff was quick but there was a bit of a wait for my food. I got a grilled pork Bahn Mi and a cookie Oreo smoothie and they were both pretty good flavor and value wise! Will definitely be back when I'm in the area.

Yelp
Food 5/5: This is our second time coming here and it was just as great as the first time. I ordered the crab rolls and everything was fresh and tasty. Huge portions and I loved all the fresh herbs. Service 5/5: Tentative, friendly staff that helped me decide what to order. Ambiance 5/5: Clean, spacious, and comfortable seating. Definitely coming back here!

Yelp
The ambiance here literally feels like being in Vietnam! Their menu has a wide variety of food and drinks, being more on the traditional side as there's some homestyle meals served here. Solid experience dining in and ordering for takeout, though some dishes are rather pricey. RECS: + Banh mi bo kho ($14.95, 5/5 stars) is so beefy and comforting + Mi dac biet kho ($18.95, 4.5/5 stars) had a solid, savory sauce that really reminds me of my ba noi's. The mi is better than the hu tieu here for this + Banh mi chao bo luc lac ($28.50, 4.25/5 stars) is hearty and filling, with a more beefy and tomato based sauce. The bo luc lac was very tender and yummy! + Banh mi heo quay ($8.95 L, 4.5/5 stars) has a super crispy, delicious pork belly as if you got some from the BBQ spots. Also comes with a tasty sauce

Yelp
My first run in with Buon Me Cafe was great. I ordered myself a banh mi ba chi [pork belly] and it was honestly the best ba chi sandwich I had ever had. No lie, I literally dreamed about having another bite of this!!! Fast forward, I made the trip out to Buon Me Cafe and placed my order for another banh mi ba chi, egg coffee, and a large sugarcane juice. The order came out fairly quick. The egg coffee was great. It tasted exactly as it should- a balance of sweetness mixed with the typical punch of caffeine you would expect from Vietnamese coffee. The sugarcane juice was good- fresh, quenching, and not overly sweet. The only complaint with that was the cup it was placed in. Instead of the normal plastic cup, the staff put the juice in a hot cup which not only caused for a mess during transporting but the liquid eventually started to make the paper cup feel soggy. The banh mi was by far the worst buy!!! The baguette lowkey tasted stale, the flavoring was bland, and it was absolutely missing/needing the soy aspect that was included in my initial buy. Definitely not worth the calories or the cost. 2 stars overall. This last visit was such a disappointment.

Yelp
My first time trying a Vietnamese skillet dish and it was so good. It was so warm and filling, the banh min was so crispy and soft when I broke it apart to eat it with my meat. My friend taught me how to eat it with different combinations and it was so delicious. If you love shaking beef dish you will like this.

Yelp
"Large" for $8.75 is small. Worst bahn mi I ever had. Ordered the cha sui bbq pork sandwich. Thin slices of meat. 75% bread 20% vegetables. 5% meat. I want a refund

At least that was I remember the one I had at the famous bun cha restaurant in Hanoi.

Yelp
This is my favorite spot to get banh mi chao. I usually get the #26 with the mignon shaken beef. The dish is paired with a baguette and a side for veggies as well. The restaurant has a ton of seating and a bathroom. They also have a wide selection of drinks to choose from. I typically enjoy their thai teas or their fruit teas. The coffee also look really good. The service is fast as well. We didn't have to wait that long.
google avatar

Yelp
The decor of this restaurant is so cute! I love the vintage details and so many options for drinks and dishes. They had a giant screen showing us pictures of some yummy items that we wished we saw earlier. Service was quick and attentive, they brought the food out pretty fast as well. They did run out of banh mi sandwiches when we got there, but I got the bò né and it came with a lot of stuff like eggs, ground meatballs, cha lua... cheese!! The laughing cow cheese was such a nice touch since I haven't had it with creamy cheese before. My friends got different items and we all were really happy and full by the end.

Yelp
Heard about Buon Me from a foodie friend - from what I know, it's a relatively newer restaurant in the Lion Plaza. We absolutely over-ordered for 3 people on our first visit, getting their signature Wagyu Bo Ne, wonton noodle soup, crispy calamari, popiah (rolls) and hu tieu (dry noodles with broth on side). Maybe I was just super hungry but everything just SLAPPED. The hu tieu sauce was so good I had to ask for a refill of just the thin egg noodles to sop the sauce up. The wontons were generously filled with shrimp and pork - very reminiscent of the Cantonese style of preparation. I quite liked the soft and crispy bread that came with the Bo Ne as well - perfect for mopping up as much pate as possible. This is a super authentic Viet spot that I will definitely be back for!

Yelp
Just ok Banh Mi Chao! Would get something else instead. I was super excited to try the banh mi chao here but it was just alright- I was pretty disappointed and also felt a bit nauseous when I got home after eating from here. They do have a lot of drink options here. My sister recommended us to come here to try the avocado drinks so we decided to dine here to celebrate my dad's birthday. My sister enjoyed the bone marrow and the avocado drink from here- the drink is more on the pricer side. For the garlic noodles, it was a bit too buttery and can use more garlic instead. Service was friendly and cute layout of the restaurant.

Yelp
[[ Location ]] This is located in the HUGE Vietnamese Plaza (Viet Town?) in San Jose. This place is so big that I constantly get lost in here if I don't use Google Maps. There is plenty of parking but the place gets really busy so even with a lot of parking, it can still be hard to find a spot. [[ Restaurant ]] I actually think this restaurant is quite pretty and really big. They have a decent outdoor seating area with a HUGE TV where they are playing big sporting games. Also the servers are all wearing Vietnamese clothing and they also prepare an appetizer right in front of the counter for people to see. Very nice touch. [[ Food ]] This is where the small minus 1-star comes from. There is a lot on the menu you can order from and generally everything tastes pretty good. However, nothing really stood out for me even the egg coffee they have here. We ordered: #19 - Grilled Rolls Sampler #37 - Filet Mignon Shaken Beef with Garlic Noodles #45 - Buon Me Special Ricestick Noodle - Dried #4a - Egg Coffee My favorite dish ironically was the Grilled Roll Sampler. The Grilled Pork Sausage roll in the sampler were SUPER Good and if I go next time, I would order a full plate of these.

Yelp
Came here for their coffee and I was blew out of the water. I got the salt coffee (5a) and chugged the whole cup in like 10 mins. Service was great and ambiance feel like a great place for family outing or with friends!

Yelp
*This review is for drinks only* Honestly, their drink menu is pretty good. I got the egg coffee, pandan coffee, & guava berry tea. Egg & pandan coffee were both good. The color of the coffee is dark, which is a good sign. It's not as super rich tasting compare to other viet coffees I had though. I also really like the guava berry tea. It comes with fresh fruit floating on top, and the color is so pretty. Very guava taste forward, which is great, and I added blueberry popping boba which pairs well together.

Yelp
Been wanting to try banh mi chao and came to this nearby spot! I hope to return sometime soon since it was really good Food(5/5): the banh mi chao did not disappoint, it was really flavorful and filling. Really wish it had more steak though because that was the best part. I also tried the pandan viet coffee. The coffee flavor was really strong so it overpowered the pandan flavor. Service(4/5): service was fast the waitress didn't really check on us and their pay machine wasn't working so we had to pay up front but it was okay. Ambiance(5/5): it's really cute and spacious inside. Not super loud but there's definitely many families eating even on a weekday.

Yelp
Best spot for bò nê in San Jose! We tried the bone marrow for the first time, and it wasn't quite what we expected, but the bò nê is definitely a must-order. The restaurant is decorated in a charming vintage Vietnamese style that truly makes you feel like you're in Vietnam. The service was excellent--the staff was quick, kind, and dressed in traditional áo dài, which added even more to the authentic atmosphere.

Brianna G.

Yelp
I've been trying to find a place in the states that had good Bún Đậu Mắm Tôm and this hit the spot. The portion is plentiful and the shrimp paste sauce was amazing. I also got the 3 Balut Boiled Coconut Juice / Hột Vịt Lộn Luộc Nước Dừan and this was cooked well and had good pairings with the vegetables and sauce. The food here felt very authentic and reminded me of what I ate in Vietnam.

Yelp
We decided to come here for a late night dinner since they're open pretty late. When we got there, the place was almost completely empty. I'm guessing it was because it was pretty late and I think it was maybe 1.5 hour before closing. One thing we noticed was how hot it was inside. I have no idea why it was so hot because it definitely wasn't cold outside, but it was so warm inside that they had to prop the doors open. The only benefit of coming late was that there was plenty of parking. The plaza gets pretty busy during the day on weekends and sometimes parking gets tricky. Our order was taken right away and we ordered the Beef Stew with Baguette and the Filet Mignon Shaken Beef. The food came out pretty quick and it looked really good! The Beef Stew was a little watery and I'm guessing it was because it was close to closing time. So maybe they tried to improvise due to running low on ingredients. The Filet Mignon Shaken Beef was a little more on the rare side and we usually like it more on the medium side. I personally haven't been back, but my partner and his friends have been back specifically for Banh Mi. They do have a lot of other menu items that looked really good. I would probably come back to try their Banh Mi or one of their rolls
google avatar

Thuy N.

Yelp
It was late at night and one of our options since it's one of the few restaurant that still opened. Upon entering the restaurant, there was an offputting smell, possibly because it was late and they were almost closing so it could be from the cleaning. So take my review with a grain of salt, since it kinda ruined the experience. They did have a cute decor they reminds me of VN, inside and outside the restaurant. I had high expectation from reading the reviews of this place but was kinda disappointed with the banh mi chao that I ordered. It didn't taste as good as it looks. Service was just okay. I would come back to give this spot another chance at a better day and time as it seems like they have a lot of cool drinks available.

Yelp
We were craving some Vietnamese food, so we decided to check out this new spot we had never tried before! It's located at the Grand Century Shopping Mall with two entrances. If you are ordering takeout, they have two self-serve kiosks to speed things up! First up, we got the #26 Banh Mi Chao Bo Luc Lac, which comes loaded with egg, pork, meatball, sausage, pate, and fillet mignon, all served with a baguette. It had some cream cheese on top and came with a side salad. The flavors were perfectly rich and saucy, making it perfect to pair with the baguette, which was crusty on the outside and soft inside. The only thing was, I expected the dish to arrive sizzling hot (like hearing that satisfying sizzling sound), but it was not quite as hot as I thought it would be. The fillet mignon was tender, though it wasn't exactly my favorite. Still, it's definitely a unique and special dish to try! We also ordered #36 Bun Cha Ha Noi, and I enjoyed this one more. It came with grilled pork and, surprise, two meatballs which were not listed on the menu, served with fresh vermicelli, lettuce, and herbs. The pork was nicely chargrilled, and together with the meatballs, dipped into fish sauce, the taste was amazing! Mixing the fish sauce and chili paste into the vermicelli made it better. Flavor-wise, they totally nailed this! For drinks, we tried both #3a Me Sai Gon (Vietnamese iced coffee) and #4a Me Ha Noi (Egg Coffee), and they were fantastic! The egg coffee had this delicious, thick egg custard layer on top, which I absolutely loved. Fair warning though, coffee is pretty strong and bold and keep me energized all day without needing another caffeinated drink!

Yelp
Got the ube milk tea. Good drink but not for me. It has a thick consistency and is very sweet. Ended up tossing most of it
google avatar

Ariana A.

Yelp
Buon Me is an amazing restaurant to eat with your eyes and your mouth. The ambiance is very inviting and intriguing as they want you to feel as if you're in an actual restaurant in Vietnam. The waitresses wear ao dais and there is a stationary rickshaw outside, among other cultural aspects around the store. The presentation of the foods are so nice, it really does make you want to order so much more. I ordered a grilled pork and rice noodle plate which came with meatballs, pickled veggies, and lettuce & mint. It was delicious, and I surprisingly enjoyed the meatballs more than the grilled pork. As for drinks, there are plenty of options such as che, milk teas, coffee, and smoothies. I ordered the ube coffee which was the perfect amount of sweetness. The ube on top had a thick and sticky texture. If you're just interested drinks, you can also order from the tablet at the entrance. There are 2 all-gender restrooms which were very tidy.

Yelp
A nice and new addition to Grand Century Mall! This location is occupying what was formerly the Paloma restaurant. Food/Drinks 1. Bột Chiên (Fried Rice Flour Cake) - $13.95 When it was served, it was piping hot. It wasn't as crunchy as other places, but it had a nice light subtle flavor and the soy sauce dipping sauce was good. 3a. Mễ Sãi Gòn (Cà Phê Sữa Đã) (Vietnamese Iced Coffee) - $5.95 Strongly brewed Vietnamese iced coffee that was slightly creamy. The ratio to ice was decent compared to other shops. 26. Bánh Mĩ Chảo Bò Lúc Lắc (Egg, Pork Roll, MeatBall, Sausage, Pate & Filet Mignon Shaken Beef w/Baguette) - $20.95 If you're looking to try Bo Ne, this is a good option. The filet mignon beef was cooked medium rare and were substantial pieces. The pate portion could be better. The baguette was toasted well and not overly crunchy. There was a sliced wedge of laughing cow cheese, which was unexpected. This is definitely shareable with two people. 28a. Matcha Nước Dữa Tươi (Matcha Coconut Juice) - $6.95 Wow - this drink is comparable to Nep Cafe's Matcha Coconut drink. It wasn't too sweet and had a good layer of matcha overlaying the coconut water. Would highly recommend if you're not sure which matcha drink to order. 31. 45. Mễ Hủ Tiểu Đặc Biệt (Khô/Nước) Buồn Mê Special Ricestick Noodle (Dried/Soup) - $18.95 It was served dried with the soup on the side. There was a good amount of beef. The portions are shareable with two to three people. The soup was refreshing and light. Ambiance Quaint decor that is reminiscent of a coffee or tea cafe in Vietnam. There are plenty of tables for dining in and an area to wait for togo orders. Location/Parking Located in the front entrance of Grand Century Mall to the left next to Saigon Kitchen. Parking can be really tricky during peak hours. Customer Service Excellent customer service was provided throughout the dining experience. The drinks took a bit of time since they were freshly made. There's a QR code sticker on the table for self-service ordering and/or employees with iPad devices can help place orders as well.

Yelp
The food is absolutely delicious! We got 15 (summer roll), 25 (ribeye banh mi), and 36 (hanoi style noodles with grilled pork). The ambiance is really nice indoor and outdoors and the waiters/waitresses are very attentive!

Yelp
3.5 stars! Overall, great ambiance and such a cool cafe for brunch or to share dishes with multiple people and catch up/converse. Durian Egg Coffee - 10/10. So many other flavors I'd try! Bo Ne - sizzling plate with pate steak onions had too many filler items and wasn't hot enough. Steak was tender though. Not enough steak or pate, which usually is the star. The sieu mai was flavorful though! Crispy Pork Belly Sandwhich - 8/10! Crispy pork with fluffy fresh baquette. GET THE BANH BO- COCONUT RICE CAKR DESSERT!

Yelp
In the center of Vietnam town, this bustling restaurant caught our eye with colorful drinks, unique Vietnamese dishes, servers wearing ao dais and areas serving take-away authentic snacks We ordered #26 sizzling plate with filet mignon, #30 beef stew with baguette, #35 assortment spring roll mix and grilled pork banh mi. #26 sizzling plate with filet mignon has my heart!! The sauce in this plate was superb and oh so flavorful. #30 I would order again as well. However I probably would not order #35 again. Maybe it's a dish I'm not as accustomed to but the sauce caught me off-guard. Value-wise, the dishes came out to be a fair price for the portion size and the quality of the dishes Service was fair and seating area was fair as well. Nothing that stood out to me but nothing to complain about All in all, would come here if I was in the area, especially for #26! But probably would not make this place one of my regular spots

Yelp
This place was a hidden gem. Open late and everything is SO good. They offer a menu that includes more traditional Vietnamese food you won't see at other restaurants. The servers were all nice and attentive. Our food came out really fast and the place has plenty of seating. We'll definitely be back to try more!

Yelp
This place is such a vibe! It's inside Grand Century mall. It's a restaurant and cafe and bar so it's pretty big in there. We came here late around 8:30pm for a late dinner. We were seated promptly and our order was taken fast. Food also came out quick and timely too! I wanted to try their bone marrow with garlic noodle but they were out of it the end of the day. I ended up getting shaking beef that came with garlic noodle (still got the garlic noodle yay) and it was so flavorful! Beef was soft and tender and how it was suppose to be and garlic noodle was delicious. Would come back and try the bone marrow one next if they do have it!

Yelp
We ordered 2 banh mi sandwiches, avocado coffee, boba with creme brulee and mi cay 3 cap do. Everyone liked their drinks and food a lot BUT we were told it would be a 15-minute wait on our to-go order and it turned out to be 31 minutes - and that was after I kept asking about it. The drinks were ready right away, then the sandwiches and we waited a LONG time on the mi cay 3 cap do. It was really a nice amount of fresh and beautiful food but mostly impossible to cook in plastic. Who knew?

Yelp
We came at the height of Tet festivities when everywhere was extremely busy, but the staff was very nice and accommodating for our large party of 7. We ordered the mixed salty sticky rice, ube taro coffee, and me mi dac biet. The ube taro coffee was visually stunning with its vibrant color, but I found it overly strong and sweet, with barely any ube flavor coming through. That said, the ube did add a nice thickness to the drink. As for the mixed salty sticky rice, the cold cuts and quail egg lived up to the "salty" part of the name--maybe even a bit too much for my taste. The sticky rice itself lacked flavor, but I assume that was intentional to balance the saltiness of the toppings. The me mi dac biet, unfortunately, fell short for me. It was overwhelmingly salty without much else going on flavor-wise. I've had better versions of this dish elsewhere. Overall, it was a mixed experience. While the presentation was great, the flavors didn't quite hit the mark for me. 3/5 for food, +1 for great service.

Yelp
Buon Me Cafe 7/10 Stopped by here for lunch with a group of 9 total during MLK Day (1/20) and was it a choice. First, it took about 30 minutes to get seated, as they were busy and it was a holiday. This is understandable and I have no issue with. We ended up getting seated outside, under the TVs, and that's where the problem was. Unfortunately, it was also Inauguration Day and they were BLASTING Fox News, very loudly. To the point that it was difficult to speak to the person right next to you. Upon asking for the volume to be lowered, they were able to accommodate, but there was a point where it started blasting again. This was a bit upsetting. Anyways, onto the food. I got the banh mi chao bo ribeye xao (# 25). I was pleasantly surprised and happy with this dish! Though pricey (~$21), I would definitely get it again if I was craving a banh mi chao. The meat was well seasoned and came out HOT, the baguette was toasted perfectly. I also liked that it came with a small salad to cut all the fat. Additionally, I grabbed the iced Vietnamese egg coffee (# 4a). It was strong, as you come to expect from any Vietnamese coffee. Again, it was on the pricier end (~$7), but did come in a to-go cup and a cute lunar new year sleeve. Overall, I really enjoyed the food here. The atmosphere, not so much. But again, I don't fully blame them as it was Inauguration Day. I would love to try it again under more ~mellow~ times. Service: 3.5/5 Food: 4.5/5 Price: 3.5/5 Atmosphere: 3/5

Yelp
The one stop shop for all of your Vietnamese cravings! I love the variety of options they have. Also the vibes really reminds me of Vietnam. I've been here 3 times already in the past 3 months and each time we order one or two new dishes along with our favorites. Highly recommend trying an item from each specialty/section of the menu. The fried rice flour cake and the banh mi wagyu steak sizzling plate is a must try! The service here lacks a bit; there's a handful of servers but they always seem to be running around frantically. Although, I must say, this is one of my favorite Vietnamese restaurant at Century Mall by far. I'm already looking forward to coming back to try more of their menu items.

Yelp
Super excited that I finally tried this place. I thought it was mostly a coffee and banh mi place but recently found out they have a lot of food too! Food: -Vietnamese coffee- I had the regular iced viet coffee and it's really good. It's strong and bitter, just the way I like it. A lot of other places don't make it as strong and make it more sweet , but I prefer the authentic style from vietnam. Strong and bitter coffee. Yum. -Hu Tieu Nam Vang (noodle soup) - tried their signature. I actually had the egg noodle version. Think they call it Mi Dac Biet Nam Vang and it's also really good. The broth is rich and fatty, you can taste the difference from other places. They put a lot of bones into it and also give you a generous portion of meat. Also comes with some intestines if you're into that. (I'm not so I toss aside) Service- very good! They're helpful and very nice. Decor - very traditional vietnam. I like it. Parking- plenty of parking, esp if you park near the bank.

Yelp
Oh my!!!! The beef stew meat was so soft that my fork sunk right in - what a pleasant surprise and find! Like others said, it is definitely worth the try! I felt like I walked into a restaurant introduced by the travel guide and renowned Master Chef Nguyen or other famous foodies from Tastemade! The decor, the settings, the ambiance, etc made me feel like I was in Little Saigon! The prices: totally worth it! Even though it was a noodle dish, we got a ton of beef stew! The banh mi was awesome with fresh ingredients and fresh bread - so good. It was packed with the right amount of meat, and the prices were good. I will have to try many of their other items too.

Yelp
I get nervous about going to restaurants that are hyped on Tik Tok but this place lives up to the hype. I went here on a Sunday with my friends and the restaurant was pretty full. We had about a 10 minute wait which is pretty good considering there were multiple parties before us trying to get seated. The interior here brings me back to Vietnam back in the day and there were so many seats. We were seated at a low chair and table which reminds me of traditional Asian living rooms how the chairs are low and the coffee table is high. It's similar concept to street food in Vietnam but more bougie. I ordered the bun cha Ha Noi and the portion was pretty big and it was so delicious. It's been 5 months since I last had bun cha Ha Noi and this came pretty similar. Traditional bun cha is more of the bland side with a hint of flavor. This has more flavor and seasoning which made it hard to dip it since it started to become a little salty. I think this is catered more towards the US population but I wish it was a little bland so I can dip the soup into the noodles without it being too salty. The price of the food compared to the portion sizes and quality makes it more yummy because I get to eat a lot for a good price.

Yelp
Much better the 2nd time! Came on a quiet Friday afternoon. Our food came quickly and everyone was so nice. I love the food here, everything we've tried is well-made and delicious. The variety here is different than most vietamese places I've tried in East San Jose (though that could be due to my own ignorance), but I really love it! Love their durian coconut drink and their sticky rice dishes + hot plate options.

Yelp
I came here late Sunday night for dinner as a party of four, we were able to get seated right away but it was pretty packed! It was our very first time here, been seeing it all over my yelp so wanted to finally give this place a try. We ordered garlic fries, nem nuong, spicy seafood noodles, and the bun dau mam - numbers 11, 16, 35 for 1 person (huge portion) and 48. The service was quick, extremely attentive - however, lost a star because the food was on the slow side. Our appetizers came out last. The first item was the soup and then 15/20 minutes later, everything else slowly came out. Overall, the food was really good. They had a lot of items I definitely want to come back and try. The decorations was also top tier!
