Decent food, quick service. You order and food is brought to you at table. Had a burger and hot dog. Food tasted fresh. Asked for onions on my hotdog, I got a lot of onions but it was over cooked so didn't taste as well. If you need a quick bite then this place isn't bad.

Every time that I visit Buona, I get this mysterious nostalgic feeling. Maybe that is because, when perceived in a certain way, their atmosphere and employees remind me of that eighties sitcom Cheers. Sure they aren’t a bar, but they do serve beer as well as wine and if alcohol isn’t your thing, then perhaps you would enjoy one of their hand-spun milkshakes. I know with a certainty, that Buona’s Cookies & Cream Shake is unparalleled. Better yet, they also have a DELICIOUS array of items on their menu. I don’t remember Cheers having that. Buona is primarily know for their beef; but they also serve burgers, chicken sandwiches, fresh pastas, hot dogs and Italian Sausage. It is of my humble opinion, that a better Chili Cheese Dog or Cheese Ravioli Marinara you will never find - "Chef's Kiss." Buona even offers a plant-based option and serve a variety of salads as well… if that’s what you’re into. The other aspect of Buona that reminds me of Cheers, is their employees. Sure they don’t have a Sam and Diane, but they do have a Raymond and Elaine. They may not have a Carla, but they do have a Gen. She seems like a lovely person, but it is not inconceivable that she could be a spicy firecracker - if so desired. I just haven’t witnessed her display any attitude other than lovely. Anyway, the employees of Buona make the dining experience comfortable and keep the place spotless - damn near immaculate. Not only that, but everyone that I have interacted with is extremely helpful and surprisingly eager to make your dining experience as enjoyable as possible. If you don’t believe me, their local Cliff Clavin, then stop by and experience it for yourself. They could use a good Norm.

Food is always fresh and cooked to perfection! The spicy buffalo chicken salad is one of my faves!

Buona has the best food & customer service. Employees go out their way to make sure you have a fantastic experience. I love going here because I know I’ll have the best time and services.

About time a place to eat with the nice services and good and fresh food ! Employees work hard and they are very attentive always cleaning or asking customers how is there food if we need anything food is so delicious with a big selection! Nice environment! I can give them 100 stars ⭐️

Buona is a fast food restaurant chain that specializes in Italian beef sandwiches. The restaurant has been in business for over 40 years and has locations all over the Chicagoland area. I recently visited the Buona location in Berwyn and had the vegan Italian beef sandwich with hot peppers and a lemonade. The sandwich was delicious! The bread was soft and the meat was flavorful. The hot peppers added a nice kick to the sandwich. The lemonade was also refreshing. The staff at the Buona in Berwyn was very friendly and helpful. They were happy to answer any questions I had about the menu. The restaurant was clean and well-maintained. They played basketball and soccer on the big screen for entertainment. Overall, I had a great experience at Buona. The food was delicious, the staff was friendly, and the restaurant was clean. I would definitely recommend Buona to anyone looking for a good Italian beef sandwich. Wonderful service combined with great tasting food options. We ordered the rigatoni with sausage and mediterrean salad with grilled chicken. Both portions were ample size and reasonably priced. The chicken was perfectly cooked. Loved the marinara sauce on the rigatoni.

I appreciate that Buona Beef offers a plant-based/vegan option. I've been ordering their Beefless Italian Beef and it has, consistently, been delicious. We gave my uncle the vegan beef and he did not know until we told him after that it was vegan and he was shocked at how much he enjoyed it. The fries are always fresh, hot, and crisp. Their current Watermelon Strawberry is my favorite beverage that they offer. I plan to continue to be a regular at Buona.

$16 for, "mozzarella cheesy beef with giardanara hot peppers and cheesy fries" No mozzarella, no hot giardanara. I took it to go and I wasn't going to drive all the way back. Sandwich and fries were surprisingly, and a bit disturbingly, small. No wonder Chili's is having a come-up.

Amazing experience! The vegan beef sandwich knocked my socks off- the service was excellent and the establishment was extremely clean. Super surprised, I don't really go to fast food restaurants- but this was a total score/ thx bb for a good time xoxo Dutch boy

This was my first time trying Buona! I just want to start off by thanking the two female staff that helped me with the menu. I definitely wouldn't have had the same experience without you two! It wasn't too busy when I stopped by for a late lunch. This location was super clean for a fast food restaurant. I ordered the Buona beef sandwich with cheese and hot peppers as recommend by staff. I was quite surprised by how good it was! The sandwich was stuffed with so much meat, which was juicy and flavorful. Without any toppings, it'd just be the beef and bread, so I definitely recommend the hot peppers and cheese! I also tried the Buona balls, which reminded me of the Cuban potato balls. This was so good but the tomato based sauce was unfortunately too watered down. I don't think this is an everyday / any day meal for me because it's so heavy, but glad I got to cross it off my Chicago list of foods to try!

When I came to Buona today I did not know what to get I asked the cashier what he recommended he said try the Big Joey's beef with cheddar cheese and extra sweet peppers and when I came in there tonight I talked to Mark and Peter They made me feel very welcome and like I was very important I did not want to leave i will definitely be back in there thanks for the recommendation Mark I appreciate you sir

I came through the drive through and my fries were cold and up side down in my bag I was not pleased with the service I got from the drive through team that was working the window on Friday April 25th

One of my go to places for authentic Italian Beef Sandwich. The flavor of their sandwiches are amazing and in my opinion better than Portillo's. The food is made to order and fresh exactly how it should be. Great service and I especially like the fact you can eat inside and they will bring the food to your table.

Putting cold meat in hot gravy and serving it right away does not make the sandwich fresh. Please teach whatever cook is on duty right now how this works. Also please teach him to keep his attitude in his pocket when he's serving food. It's not my fault he don't know wtf he's doing.

I frequent the Buona Beef in Oak Park, well today when I went I was completely dissatisfied, I love hot dogs and usually get the Chicago dog but to my surprise it is no longer a jumbo hot dog but a thin tasteless hot dog, my mother enjoys their fries and hamburgers , only to get a subpar burger that didn't taste like it normally does and they changed their fries. It's safe to say I won't be returning.

Great flavor on the beefs! Make sure to get au jus on the side. I ordered a 10" beef with sweet peppers. The amount of meat on the bun I thought was not enough(see pic). They certainly skimped on the meat, don't know if they measure or weigh it before they serve it, ala Novi's Beef which is why I stopped goin there. Other than that the flavor was great, the fries nice & crisp. Definitely will be back, hopefully to receive a full serving next time.

Great juicy beef sandwich with hot peppers plus fries. Ate half of the sandwich and some French fries before I remembered to take a picture. Two people working there look down when talking to customers (register and the order) making it hard to hear them and had to ask them to repeat themselves.

Great meal, really nice staff, very cute & clean dining room! I'd love to see a few more vegetarian options. Pepper & egg sandwiches are available, but only on Fridays, so that is perhaps a Lenten special. There is at least one cheese panini sandwich and soup & salad that are vegetarian. Minestrone is nice. I'd love to see a veggie burger or a hearty farmhouse salad... but I think they are known for their hot dogs, burgers and beef sandwiches... so that's ok. The desserts looked awesome, but I was full. The dining room was nearly full yet still tidy. A staff member came around 3 times while I was there to wash tables, counters and clean the soda area. Another staff member checked on me- twice! So very attentive and hard-working staff, for sure. The music was loud but not off-putting and I got used to it.

I am a huge fan of Buono beef. I don't think I've ever had a bad meal there. They even have great salads. I've been to their numerous locations. Every place has great food. They've also done a great job during Covid keeping me safe. This is a big shout out to their customer service department. I had an issue trying to buy gift cards. They fixed my problem immediately. Unlike so many other places. I know they, like other places, are struggling these days. But Buono continues to get my support. As far as I'm concerned, they have the best beef sandwiches anywhere in the Chicago (and anywhere else). I think that my family would eat their Italian beef every day of the week if I'd let them! That's how much we really like Buona food. Thanks to a very well run business.

The beef and fast food is what made this place. The Beef is still some of the best in the business. And I prefer it to any other Chicago offerings. Grew up in Berwyn and have been a patron since '81. I miss the old "shack" on the corner of OPA. And they've fully transformed into a "bistro-look". ... The stupid things people do for branding... Anyhoo, I'm lucky enough to be only a short drive from the Naperville location. And the fact that you can pick it up frozen in stores has made party food SO easy. That said, a bit more on the problems with "branding". It's not a "10 inch beef" dangit! IT'S A BEEF AND A HALF! And I'll continue ordering it that way until they slide my aging backside into the dirt... Good food should taste incredible and kill you slowly. Buona has this dual nature down to a science! ...And it's after 10PM...and I can't get any beef right now. *BUMMED!!!*

This place has gone downhill fast! How disappointing or is it because I did not leave a tip. I got a scoop of noodles with thick tasteless Alfredo coving around half of it. During COVID, these guys rose to the occasion. Not anymore. Got 1/2 the portion that I used to by the way! Boil noodles and put jarred Alfredo on for a much more pleasant experience!!!!

It's been a while since I've updated my review; not only is this a great place to eat in (food and service is always top notc), but great for catering too. I had a 10 person order for this past Superbowl Sunday. Order was on time, hot as they described and ready to eat when we got the party. Portion was generous - fed the small party and then had leftovers for my family at home too! Thank you Buona, it was a hit!

It was so good I forgot to take a photo!! The beefless Italian beef was better than I expected! I really enjoyed how light it was and the flavor was delicious. The restaurant was nice and clean and the customer service was wonderful.

Hotdog was nasty and cold and mushy with toppings all mushed all over spilled everywhere. Fries were ice cold and raw in the middle. Nasty food and over priced. $15 for trash food.

Not sure what's going on with this location, but we've received a few incorrect orders. I'm not talking "they forgot my pickle" .. we've showed up for our takeout orders and they've completely switched out our items with items from someone else's order. I get just one time... but this continues to happen and it doesn't seem like they're doing anything to fix this. The latest, we ordered 1 pepper and egg sandwich and 1 chicken sandwich. We received the pepper and egg, but received some girl named Jessica's bacon burger instead of the chicken sandwich. Unfortunately, good food can't always make up for poor service. With everything else in the area, I can't imagine we'll be giving them yet another try to get it right.

The food is fine. The place is clean and the folks are nice. **** for that. But if I am being honest when you order a sausage with some juice it's just ok. The meat was kinda dry. Not a lot of flavor and it just doesn't wow me like a few other local joints. Their combo is better. The fries are fine, fresh but almost too healthy tasting . Give me some grease from last night mixed in lol (joking). And to end on a positive note....their Dr. Pepper was delicious ;).

As a loyal customer for over 30 years I love the food, but your new loyalty program stinks. Getting $5 or $10 off was was better than being forced to get fries or whatever

Buona beef is a prominent chain restaurant near my house. The food is consistent at each location. They make really good beef sandwiches and I really like their chicago style dogs. I have also had their shakes which are really good too. Buona beef also delivers through door dash and Uber eats which is very helpful for those of us that work late. Typically they are one of the fastest restaurants that deliver. Overall, Buona beef is a really good homegrown chain restaurant- you won't be disappointed.

Good Buona food if they'll give it to you. We have ordered lunch from this location for many many years. Unfortunately, we're tired of making two trips to pick up the things they didn't put in the bag. We learned to check before we leave, but who thought you would have to make sure there was a burger in between the buns. Ridiculous! Management asked me to email them. I did. No response. Haven't been back since.

I've always had great food from Buona Beef in Schererville, IN!!! Just ate a classic beef and a Pasta salad. They are always fresh and flavor is right on. Don't forget to pour the Au Jus all over the sandwich. Our company even orders from there for Staff lunches and its perfect all the time. DELICIOUS !!!!

The gf and boy received a free Beef in a Buona sponsored race at the Sox game so we capitalized on it the other day. Asked for it "dipped", they didn't. So then I asked for a cup of au juice which they neglected to bring. The beef was ok, but dry so it really did need some au juice. I doused it w giardinara which made it passable. But it was free so there's that #doh

This is a nice place to have hot food. The food was hot and you can taste the beef. They are quick and make sure they go around to see how you doing

I had the worst experience trying to do a good deed at Buona Beef on Roosevelt. On Sunday, October 1st at about 7:30 pm, we stopped off to pick up our order and, while my husband went inside to pick up our order, I saw a young woman hanging out in the parking lot. She was carrying some things in a plastic bag. I asked her if she was hungry and if she wanted something to eat. She said yes. I told her to come inside with me so she could order some food. As we were walking inside, another customer gave her his empty drink cup so she could serve herself a drink. At that point, the manager or owner came out literally screaming and making a commotion for her to leave. There were other customers there who were totally stunned (including my husband who was waiting to pickup our order). I told him I was going to pay for her food. He said no way he was going to let her inside his restaurant. He wouldn't even let me buy her something after I told her to wait outside. He said she was trouble for him because she kept stealing his toilet paper and wasn't worth the paid order. He even wanted to take her cup away. She gave it to me as she walked out so I went to get her the drink after not being allowed to place an order for her. The manager actually was going to try to grab the cup from me as I was filling it and I had to tell him not to dare take my drink. How can people be so inhumane? She was hungry! Just because of the toilet paper? And I'm giving a lower rating to the manager for trying to tell people what they can and can't do with their money. They just lost a loyal customer who lives in the area and used to eat here frequently.

Wish they had better vegetarian or fish options..,too much meat .& too much bread . I'm not impressed with the "salads" either The tuna sandwich is so dry it would b a pretty good sandwich if it had a good dressing or sauce on it. I love the parmesan chips but last few times they were so stale I threw them out (carried out too much hassle return to store) . Prob won't go back

Their Italian beef sandwiches are very tasty but the one I had last night was sadly missing a lot of meat!! I would have taken it back but the person that picked it up for me had to leave! It was triple juicy as I requested with sweet peppers but I had to say " Where's the Beef???" This time.........?!

Not the same buona I knew as a kid. Was very disappointed with my last visit. To start, their prices are much higher than their competitors, was completely taken back by that, but I hadn't had buona in a while, so not a deal breaker. What was upsetting was the beef sandwich that I received. First bite was all bread, at which point I opened up further to see a sliver of beef throughout the sandwich. If buona is going to charge a premium on their food, they will have trouble keeping business by serving a worse product. Don't think ill be going back. A lot of Italian beef in Chicago, try elsewhere.

I used to go to portillos until Bouna came around. I loved the spicy taste and could not get enough. A few years ago the recipe changed. It doesn't taste the same. Now it's just another beef sandwich. I'm going back to portillos. It's closer.

First time trying this spot just decided on it while driving around and it didn't disappoint. Though known for their Italian beef they have so many more options, you have got to try their pasta and add chicken makes it even more delicious! Can't wait to come back for more delicious meals! Great customer service as well!

If you want a good beef go to Portillo's These portions are small for the price and the food isn't very good. Spend your money elsewhere.

Let's see....I haven't been here in a while! Customer Service is decent. Food Service: Quality is OK! Quantity is Poor! What we ordered: 1-5 inch meal (comes with fries & drink). 1-7 inch meal 1-protein bowl The bread was barely opened so only a fork full of meat can be placed inside. To me that's cutting corners and skims on the customer. The fries were good, salted perfectly. We don't drink fountain drinks and opted for water. Water is always good n refreshing. For that skimming on the main course you get 3 stars. I may return, I am not sure! Have a good day.

I have to ding a 2 stars off their last review. First let's address the changes. The new app is not better then the last app, not even close. The new loyalty program is also a step down. Last week I had 200 points good for $10 off an order. I went into the shop yesterday and found out I no longer have my points, but as the staff informed me I now have 2000 pts? But 2000 is better then 200?? No not really my 2000 points is not even good enough for a free sandwich( 2500 points.) And I have to pick food items on the app to redeem. You have a loyalty program to build up good customer relations, when you change these programs without notice you end up pissing people off. And telling someone something is better when it clearly is not is just insulting. No more 1# pound beef with bread packages? Now you have to buy 2# and pay for the bread extra? I will be taking my business elsewhere or just buying tubs from Costco. Sometimes when you have something that works its best to leave it alone.

Buona's original location has been renovated, and it's a real showpiece now. Very comfortable dining room and efficient ordering line. The beef and sausage sandwiches are as good as always -- above average for Chicago-style Italian beef. PROS: 1. Great dining room. Comfortable and efficient. 2. Italian beef is better than average -- especially for the area. (I've found most of the Italian beef restaurants in Berwyn to be dry and under-flavored.) 3. Convenient location. CONS: 1. Really bad parking lot. Very awkward setup, bordering on dangerous. That's really it. Not as good as Johnnie's Beef (no one is), but still above average for the area.

Went for first time yesterday and not a fan. Didn't care for ribs, beef sandwich or FF. Coleslaw was okay. The restaurant was clean and the workers were great.

Our recently opened Buono Beef has been great in Schererville, IN! We have always enjoyed their beef sandwiches. I had a mistake in a pick-up order today and had to go back to correct the total. I wasn't looking forward to driving over there to correct it, especially on Black Friday, but Haley the manager was so extremely kind and apologetic and went above and beyond the call of duty to make it right. She was so happy I did not come in upset and I was happy how well she handled the issue. So all is well that ends well and we continue to enjoy our Buono Beef! Thanks so much, Haley!

I had my mind all set to eat something spicy, so I ordered the buffalo ranch chicken salad. I like eating here because it's close by my house, so I am familiar with the menu. I ordered a buffalo chicken salad from Buona and got a plain chicken salad I ordered from the drive thru, so I had to go back and confirm that the menu did not change! The salad had all the right topping of a buffalo chicken it just does not have the buffalo chicken, go figure huh!

The best beef sandwich in my opinion. Other good options as well. Salads are very good, as are fries for example. Competent service and clean. This is the original location but had extensive remodeling a few years back and is modern.

Was on job across the street, so I'd figure out I'd try the original location after being disappointed at some far western suburban locations. Beef tasted liked they dumped a pepper shaker on to it. Cold cheese fries. $11 later, im still hungry and will go to Nearest Portillo's.

Not as good as it advertise meat wasn't tasteful just like water i had it dipped also but it just was not flavorful barley even hot more just room temperature. I wont be going back to this location
