Bupyeong Kkangtong Market

Bupyeong Kkangtong Market is located near Gukje Market and BIFF in the Nampo district. It is a big traditional market that started as a place selling imported canned goods after the Korean War. Today, local people and visitors come here to buy fresh vegetables, fruits, fish and other types of seafood, clothings, household items, snacks, and many more. We can get many kinds of authentic Korean street food here too, including the unique ssiat hotteok (seed pancakes), eomuk (fish cakes), and tteokbokki. It is an interesting place to visit in Busan.

It’s a market full of delicious food, perfect for enjoying a glass of makgeolli with seafood chive pancakes and meat bindaetteok, and even the tteokbokki is tasty. The fish cakes were so good that I packed some to take home.

The pollack is aromatic and well-seasoned, though slightly on the oily side. The fish cake and tteokbokki are rather mild in flavour and could benefit from more depth. The gimbap, however, is a pleasant highlight—aromatic, well-balanced, and satisfying.

Careful of those general grocery or clothing shops without any pricing as these tend to rip off tourists. Always haggle half price or suffer the higher prices to tourists. Overall good place to get some bites and street food at reasonable costs.

A taxi driver tipped me off about this market. The lanes between the shops are nice and wide, so it’s easy to wander around. The street lined with pig trotters was pretty fascinating, and from the chatter on the street you can tell the locals in Busan have their go-to spots.

Many many stores inside the very hugh market building selling clothes, food, junk food, seafood, dry goods, fruits etc etc. This place can takes hours if slowly checking through the goods sell. It's connected to Jagalci Streets which is very very happening at nights with many restaurants, shops, hawker stalls etc etc.
