The Best 2020 Takeout, Delivery, and Outdoor Dining Standouts for North and South Carolina | Eater Carolinas

"A series of quick pivots transformed this operation into a short-order kitchen housed inside a favorite local bar, offering condensed, bar-friendly fare and demonstrating how nimble repackaging and collaboration with existing neighbors can create viable alternate revenue streams." - Erin Perkins

Burger 809 is no ordinary burger joint. It’s a sophisticated eatery where culinary mastery and southern roots are showcased through an American classic. This restaurant has many delicious options, so here’s a few of my favorites. I love the Burger 809 Signature slider, and it comes garnished with bacon jam. I add sautéed jalapeños for a bit of heat. If you’ve never tasted a salmon slider, this is your chance to experience it (10 out of 10). For my side, I go for the greens. They’re the best greens I’ve ever eaten. They’re seasoned to perfection; words simply don’t to do them justice…but if you think greens don’t pair well with a burger, then you’re in for a surprise. You won’t regret it. Another favorite is the mac n’ cheese. It’s a staple. They also have delicious fresh baked cookies and lemonades. Lastly, the service and atmosphere are unmatched. I highly recommend Burger 809.

Google
The burgers, and other variety of sliders, and the sides are all just so flavorful and freshly made. Can’t miss the hey Henry slider that adds Mac n cheese or the B809 melt. There is nothing on the whole menu that is less than delicious. The location is also such a vibe, gorgeous floor to ceiling windows and a cute patio in city garden with the fountain and statues adding to the ambience. The owner is absolutely lovely; she came out to greet and check in on us and remembered all of our orders. Do not miss this place!!!!

The food was absolutely delicious!!! 10/10 will definitely return when we come back to town!! The atmosphere of the restaurant was exactly what you would look for in the middle of the city. Beautiful park on one side, nice city views on the other. And it was pretty quiet! Love that they had the massive openings outside letting in that fresh air from the park. No complaints!!

We were visiting St. Louis for less than 48 hours and ate here twice, it's that good! Service was outstanding, burgers are incredible, don't skip the pineapple lemonade. Easy 5 minute walk from the Arch. Beautiful outside seating overlooking the sculpture park. Games available if you want to sit and relax awhile. Wish we had one in our hometown.

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! We always try to check out local places while traveling through for work and I’m so glad we stopped in here. The burger sliders were so fresh and delicious, the Mac n cheese was SO GOOD (see pictured, the EPIC cheese pull) and the service was fantastic. The staff made us feel right at home and gave us some free fresh hot fries just for being first timers. We will absolutely be back. The location is so cute too, with big windows all around to view the blooming trees in the city park. Thank you guys so much for an awesome lunch!!

This is a hidden gem amidst the sculpture garden. It was quiet, clean and the service was incredibly friendly. The food was delicious. The sliders are small yet incredibly flavorful. The bathrooms were clean. The onion rings were super tasty too.

Located in the City Garden, surrounded by all the sculpture art, Burger 809 is a tiny but charming spot that offers big flavors. On a snowy day when comfort food was a must, this quaint little eatery delivered in spades. I opted for the salmon slider, which earns my #stlouispescatarianapproved seal of approval. Tender, flavorful, and satisfying. But, let's talk about the sides, because what's comfort food without a little extra indulgence? The cheese fries were crispy perfection and the mac & cheese, oh, the cheese pulls! Creamy and rich, perfect for the chilly day. Stop in and give them some love.

Great spot in the middle of the city. The food was fantastic! The ambiance is amazing. Outside patio setting is available.

Yelp
I ordered a burger and fries to go through one of the online apps. The burger was good and the fries were crispy. Would order again. The ambiance seems fancier than the food, but since I was ordering it to takeout, it wasn't really part of the equation this time. The guy that helped get my food was friendly. The food was also ready when I arrived, which I appreciated not having to wait. I'll go back sometime to enjoy the setting.

Yelp
Honestly I didn't even know this place was at the location it was at if I hadn't come with a friend. Tucked away downtown I believe Kaldis coffee used to be at the location but it's very nice inside. The service was good just look thought they would need some back cuz the orders were a bit slow coming out. I ordered three of their sliders and fries and I had to get their oatmeal cookies and pineapple lemonade. B809 Signature which was simple yet good with that jalapeño bacon jam Nashville Night slider loved the bbq sauce Hi Thai was good as well with the tender chicken and sweet heat sauce. The fries were crispy and seasoned. The pineapple lemonade was very good. Wanted another one to go! The cookies were soft yet chewy and really good!! I'll come Back for more.

Yelp
Yummy sliders and fries in a beautiful downtown setting. Stopped in for lunch and enjoyed two sliders, the November baby with a big onion ring inside, and the Hey Henry! with a dollop of Mac and cheese (and why not). Had to sample the cheese fries as well. The burgers were hot, juicy, flavorful and perfectly cooked. The thick-cut fries - just the right texture and the cheese sauce had the tiniest hint of peppery heat. Service was friendly and efficient. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Awesome gourmet sliders, reasonably priced! Made fresh, was delicious! I would recommend visiting if you like burgers and fries, but don't want average!

Yelp
They're back! If you had the pleasure of experiencing this awesomeness when they were on Cherokee or Bluewood Brewing, then you already know. For newcomers, welcome! When I saw on their IG page about the re-opening, I knew I'd be here soon after. Skipped lunch today to make my way here around 4p. Located in the Downtown City Garden building, you park on Chestnut and make your way towards the sculptures to get inside the building. Loaded Fries (Steak Fries), Classic Slider add LTOP, November Baby slider and Salmon slider. Let me be clear, these are bigger than White Castle Sliders, so I can only eat 2, but I had to try the Salmon slider. All the Sliders, juicy and cooked well. Cheese sauce is great on the Fries. All the staff were super friendly. Get here, it's a great spot to have a meal and then meander around the artwork. Bring the family!

Yelp
Burger 809 is such a great place for a fun date (still). We visted her new downtown location and had a wonderful dining experience. We've been loyal customer's for years, and I'm still in awe of how greens and sliders pair so well together. Must-have with incredible service.

Yelp
Went here to satisfy my burger craving. Decent sliders. The bacon jam really does it all. There isn't enough seasoning on the patties themselves and the Mac and cheese was tasteless. Fries were fine. Good service and a nice space.

Yelp
Food is delicious. Wanted a good burger, & the burger was perfect. Staff is very friendly. Atmosphere is great. Enjoyed the park views. Great place. Definitely worth the trip. Will be back to try more.

Yelp
This is a great place if you have 1.5 hours to get lunch. The food was okay after we got it, but just be willing to wait. The staff is confused and got every single person's who was sitting around us food order wrong. Would not recommend the experience, but would wish on someone who I disliked.

Debbie P.

Yelp
Service was excellent - friendly, engaging, and attentive. The food was delicious with decent sized portions. Love that you can sit inside in climate controlled environment but still feel like you're outside with the 3 walls of clear glass right by the park. I recommend and would return if I'm ever in St Louis again.

Yelp
Went several weeks ago with family and had a wonderful experience. Burgers were hot and fresh, with good seasoning and flavor. Fries, both loaded and regular, were really good. Server was friendly and came back several times to make sure all was well. The location was excellent, with all the windows to see City Garden and the downtown activity. Will definitely go back.

Yelp
Went for lunch today and got the salmon burger. It's small (the menu says that so it's not misleading) but it was so good. I got the loaded fries as well and I'd go back for lunch again! The service was great too. I did go later in the day so I missed the lunch rush.

Yelp
I don't care how good the food will be when it gets here. Ordering was too complicated and we've been waiting way too long already.

Thom A.

Yelp
This restaurant is one-of-a-kind. Their menu consists mainly of delicious sliders, which are quite big and economically priced. The service is fantastic. Employees are extremely friendly and willing to help. The space is what really elevates this joint, though -- the sculpture garden surrounding it is gorgeous, and the interior feels chic and proper. Please give it a try, it should be getting way more visitors than it is with the food quality and unbeatable ambience.

Yelp
Went for lunch and tried 3 different sliders, all were great. Can't wait to go and try the rest!

Yelp
Just before start of this Sunday's Cardinals game, I happened to find this hugely satisfying 'cooked to order' spot. I know sliders are what others came here for - and my dining partners will attest, they're GREAT! However, I like starting my weekend mornings off with pancakes & breakfast potatoes. And, the folks here knocked it outta the park, with their buttery blueberry pancakes, warm maple syrup and spiced-right home-fried potatoes. To find a clean spot, pleasingly decorated, with cheerful serving staff and an atmosphere you don't have to yell over to be heard, Burger 809 instantly became my favorite Sunday morning brunch spot.

Yelp
I attempted to support this business for lunch. I arrived & was told that they were not taking any more orders. It had only been 90 minutes since they opened. I guess you should call before attempting to patronize this business.
