My wife and I were in the area for my son's lacrosse game, and we decided to stop to see if it was as good as it looks on social media. They have an interesting setup inside where you can order at a kiosk at the front desk or find a table and use your phone to order. It was very easy. They have QR codes with table numbers on each table, and it is quite effortless. You can pay the whole tab from your phone as you order as well as leave a tip. I had a question about how to order something to go to bring home to my son. The staff was very helpful entering the order for me , and even delayed his order to be ready when we were leaving. The burgers were great. Not your typical overcooked smashburger, still very juicy and extremely flavorful with their burger mix. The tallow fries were very good as we had them with a side of cheese sauce. All the ingredients were high quality, as you could tell as the bacon on the burger was more of a thick cut Farm bacon. Their milkshakes looked quite popular as many to-go orders were carrying them out. Overall a great experience with great food in a clean establishment with very helpful and attentive staff

10/10 – One of my favorite spots! The burgers, chicken tenders, and fries are absolutely top-notch. If you love a great burger, this is the place to go. I’d recommend a double or triple if you’re hungry - and you can opt to go bun less for keto/carnivore. The variety of sauces is incredible, especially the cheese sauce—it literally is liquid gold. I personally avoid seed oils, so I love that we can enjoy a meal here without worrying about inflammation or feeling sluggish afterward. The high-quality ingredients make this place a win for everyone.. Beyond the food, the staff is always kind, friendly, and welcoming, and the hip-hop music adds to the fun, upbeat vibe. So happy this place opened—highly recommend!

This place is incredible and was worth the 90-minute hike since, unfortunately, I don't live close by. High-quality ingredients. My boyfriend and I are planning to come back so we can try more things off the menu. I love that you can buy meats, dairy, and eggs there to cook at home. I bought the tallow face cream. It's my favorite one. I've tried many tallow face creams from many places. Their eggs are the best l ever tried in NJ. The hot brioche donutholes with the vanilla creme. Omg, you must try so magically delicious, super unique, and I'm not a huge fan of donuts, but that is an exception. It's as if a donuthole and a cake pop had a baby. Burgers are top-notch, and you can't go wrong with any version there. Best burgers in NJ.

One of the best burgers I’ve ever had In New Jersey. Fresh good meat, delicious fries, great sauces, amazing toppings I liked the grass fed better than the wagyu. Hot dog was delicious and the French fries are fried in tallow and very good as well. They have a nice option of drinks, desserts, fresh cuts of meat + dessert

Fantastic Experience! Our family of six loved everything we ordered. The grass-fed burgers were absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked and full of flavor. 5 out of 6 of us had a cheese burger. The cheese sauce that one of my children ordered was spot on (she is very picky and critical). She also ordered the chicken tenders and loved them too! The fries are hands down, the best fries we’ve ever had. Crispy, flavorful and fried in beef tallow for that extra flavor punch. We also enjoyed the organic sodas, which were refreshing and tasty. It’s clear that this place takes pride in using quality ingredients, and we appreciate that everything is fried in beef tallow. It’s a little extra touch that made all the difference. We drove an hour each way to get here, and it was totally worth it. We’re already planning our next trip! We need one of these in central/south jersey!

Everything was delicious! I absolutely love the fact that everything we were eating was made without seed oils too. Love that they had refrigerators that sold steaks and other essential products like collagen. They even had walls with high-quality protein powder for sale that they use in their milkshakes too! I highly recommend this place and I can’t wait until more. Restaurants start to mimic this ideology.

Amazing burger spot with top-tier ingredients. The use of beef tallow shines through, delivering incredible flavor and a lightness that’s far easier on the stomach than fast food chains. If you’re willing to spend a bit, the quality is absolutely worth it—highly recommend giving it a try!

Went here with my buddy as we like to do a weekly travel for some good food. Food Adventures with Joe & Joe, it’s going to be a thing. Anyways, let me tell you.. we traveled an hour + and it was soo worth it. Burgers were on point, root beers delicious and we went with fries and side sauces too. STAHPPP this was a fun exciting and fulfilling trip. Keep it up B&B! We’ll be back!

Review from a poor man. I want to hate this place. I really really do. Because nothing about it is a cheap meal!!! Absolutely nothing. But The problem lies in the quality of the burger. It tastes stupid good!!! Like it has zero reason to be that tasty for a burger. None. I don't know what the seasoning blend they put on the burger is, nor do I know how much beef tallow it is cooked in, but it makes for one hell of a tasty burger. My only gripe is that the burgers are small (but that is what smash burgers tend to be by its very nature.). And the price for everything is way too much. I would love to try the cheese steak from here but I am not spending 21 bucks for a cheese steak. I am glad that A) I am poor so I can't have this all the time B) glad that it is a little bit far of a drive for just getting a burger. C) it is so unhealthy that I couldn't eat it often even if I wanted to. lol. Well done Burger and butcher on making a fantastic product but I just can't justify the price point for a regular visit.

We had lunch here today. I had been wanting to try this place for awhile after seeing the food featured on instagram. We drove up from Rockaway so the drive was 30 minutes due to the sinkhole traffic and likely not worth it. Pros - Clean dining space with plenty of seating after 1p on a Saturday. - Easy, no wait ordering using the QR codes at the table. - Friendly staff. - Easy parking with plenty of spaces. - Milkshakes are good. Cons - VERY expensive for what you get. One single burger, one double burger, one family fry, two waters and two shakes ended up being over $70 before tip. - A seat yourself establishment with almost little "waiting" on the table (just bringing the food and drinks and then clearing your spot when you're done) should not default to an 18% tip. The minimum I saw as a tip when placing the order through the toast app at the table was 15%. The total with tip was $87. Insane. - I would agree with other reviewers that the food is super greasy. I wasn't a huge fan of this. It does sit heavy afterwards. - While the milkshake was pretty good, it was not worth $11+. Glad we got to give it a try to see if we'd like it, but likely won't return.

Pretty expensive for that it is. I felt like everything was waaay too salty and very greasy. I didn't even finish my burger because it was basically greasy mush. I do appreciate the hand cut fries.

This place was amazing!!! Awesome organic, fresh chemical free food. My granddaughter and daughter could eat here with no worries.

BEST BURGER AND FRIES!!! I drive over 2 1/2 hours to eat here. All these people saying it's overpriced and greasy clearly don't understand the importance of NO SEED OILS and grass fed beef. Of course it's going to be more expensive than a "normal" burger, it's not Burger King! That's why it's worth it! It's the best burger and fries I have ever eaten PERIOD. I appreciate everything that they do to make better food and I will continue to support places like this. We need more of them! Thank you for caring about the health of your customers! KEEP IT UP!!!

Finally tried the hyped up place. First off I do love that they say they fry their food in beef tallow. We had the organic Grassfed burger, cheesesteak, fries & sourdough brioche donut holes. Burger & cheesesteak were delicious along with the special sauce. Fries were a bit oily in my opinion & seemed as if we got the left over portion. Sourdough donut holes skip, way too greasy. They kinda fall apart when you eat it & taste very oily. (Get them if you're into that) I was hoping for better donut holes. Place isn't the prettiest inside but clean. Service was ok. Place wasn't busy when we were there on a Sunday night. You order from a kiosk at the front or can order from the table using a QR code. They also have a little fridge that's stocked with meats and dairy products for Togo. I would come back for a burger & maybe try their milkshake though.

The place is new so perhaps there's a learning curve here. You need to order from a kiosk yet the place is set up not to use a kiosk. This isn't Shake Shack after all. For these prices, there needs to be a wait staff. (And why is the default tip 20% ordering and paying on a kiosk????). The kiosk did have multiple options for ordering but there should but multiple types of cheese for a Wagu burger, not just yellow American. A good quality Swiss would be nice. Now the Wagu 4 oz burger at over $14.00 looked amazing but was surprisingly bland. I wasn't thrilled with the over priced Wagu dog either. It was way too thick and no snap for a ripper. The decor is rather boring and dark but hey, there's parking!

Way over priced for a double burger. Everthing extra are add ons, pickles, tomato lettuce etc. Don't believe I'll be returning anytime soon.

Finally a spot to get some Organic/Grass-fed burgers! Yes we drove well out of our way to go here but it sure was a great choice. We split a lot of items because we wanted to get a taste of a few things: Of course their burgers were amazing! So fresh. We also had the cheesesteak. I thought it was really good but just a tad over seasoned. Wagyu hot dog - delicious and fried in tallow. Tallow Fries - were like crack - so good. Homemade sauces - ketchup was a bit on the thicker side but we all loved the special sauce and hot honey ranch. It's not cheap but you definitely get quality food that's prepped better. Service was great. You can either order from the table using the app or you can go up and order. Place is super clean and spacious. Plenty of parking (lot). ENJOY!

I'll keep this short and sweet. This was possibly the best burger I've had in ages. Also of note were the fries. Crispy, delicious and finished in beef tallow which gave them a distinct and satisfying flavor. I don't know what the special sauce is but I'd put that stuff on everything it was so good. Staff was very friendly and the owner Ethan was more than happy to speak with us. Clean, quick service and a limited menu that made ordering easy. This place is a destination you need to visit. Definitely will return !

Been wanting to come here for a while finally made it. In my opinion very overrated and overpriced. Says I have a half a pound of meat there no way in the world was there a half pound I know it shrinks a little after cooking, but still no way. Way over seasoned I don't know if it was the burger or the sauce that was on it or maybe the Cook spilled a salt shaker on it not sure. Fries were good and so was cheese sauce.

Delicious burgers and fries! Perfectly cooked and no seed oils!!!!!! A must try! I will go out of my way to go there if necessary. Think I'll try the cheesesteak next time

A messy masterpiece. I had the wagyu. The burger was juicy, delicious, and well seasoned with their special sauce. The staff were very attentive and friendly. I don't know how this place is only a 4.1.

My family and I absolutely love Burger & Butcher!! I truly appreciate the ingredient selection here and it is consistently delicious. By far the best burger I've ever had. The staff is always so kind. And I appreciate that I can bring my kids to eat here without seed oils and crap in their food. Obviously prices are higher but you 100% get what you pay for. I'd rather pay more for better quality food!

Let me begin by saying I'm not a huge fan of smash burgers, but this place - HOT DAMN! Everything is organic, down to their 4 ingredient house made ketchup. Obviously the burgers are unreal! Great shakes too! A definite stop in!

This place is amazing both in terms of the quality of food as well as the service. The burgers, fries and donuts were spectacular. All of the staff were super friendly and one was kind enough to bring our dog an ice bowl and bottle of water as we ate outside without us even asking him. We'll definitely be coming back here many times in the future.

The fries were amazing! The special sauce was delicious and unique to itself. The burgers were excellent. If I was to complain about one thing, for the price, I'd rather have a waiter who checks on us in case we'd like to order additional stuff, rather ordering at the table on an app, and paying before getting the food.

Top notch gourmet burgers ! Locally sourced meats. What a difference in flavors with top quality beef and cooking with beef tallow. Everything was delicious. I had a double Wagyu smashburger with pickles and cheese and a house special sauce on a brioche bun. The beef so was juicy and flavorful and cooked perfect. The. Crispy chicken sandwich had crispy tender fried chicken with cheese and a hot honey ranch on a brioche bun. Crispy flavorful French fries with a little salt. In my opinion the burger didn't need any sauce with the quality of the beef but it was a good addition. They also have locally sourced meats frozen in a fridge to buy along with local organic eggs. The hotdogs were also beef wagyu and deep fried and juicy it came with some onions and cheese sauce. Small menu but everything is high quality. Nice addition to area. Good amount of seating.

Highly recommend this place! The food was amazing, I had a double burger and shared the fries with my wife and we loved it. Service was great as well, everyone was super helpful and informative, they even let us sample the cola they had because we were unsure of the taste. The place also has that warm homey vibe that I always try to look out for, overall super great place!

The burgers and fries are perfect! And the desserts excellent-didn't realize they were vegan, they tasted so good. Best milkshakes in Sparta! Wish they were open a little later though-at least until 10:00pm.

Probably the best burger that I've ever had in my life. I just got the original burger with 2 patties, grilled onions & lettuce. I told my girlfriend to try it even though she hates burgers and she actually liked it. It was about $14, but that's what you pay for when the food isn't cooked in dirty old seed oils. Fries were great as well. Would definitely recommend coming here, especially if you're trying to stay away from seed oils. Service was quick and hot when I brought it back home.

Food, service and ambiance exceeds expectations! Hot dog with onions and special sauce is my go to! Burgers outstanding! Fries are amazing. Top quality all around! Next - chicken sandwich and milkshake.

May I make one suggestion. Never serve food on paper. We ordered a Cheese steak. It was delivered on a piece of paper. The beef mixed with the cheese was a bit runny so it oozed onto the paper. Not good. Serve food on plates.

I have to say that the burgers are top notch, they are smash burgers that are made with beef tallow so it gives it that rich taste. There fries are crispy and flavorful, pairs well with there killer house made ketchup as well. The dining area is nice and neat but there service does not meet the high bar you expect. You are forced to order food digitally through your phone and I find that unique but also weird because you do not order the conventual way.

Very good!!! We stopped in around 5pm on a Saturday and were seated right away. We ordered from the kiosks, which was super easy. Our food was out quickly and the staff were lovely! We ordered two chicken sandwiches, a vanilla milkshake and wings. Would come back for sure!

The fries were perfect! I would go back just for the fries , however the burger tasted like I was eating a burger from White Castle . There instagram makes it look delicious however I got the most Soggiest burger I've ever had in my life . Ended up eating half of the burger because the other half tasted like I was eating someone's mush left overs . They over did the onions and it was a soggy mess . I'll come back for the fries next time . I'll be unfollowing them on instagram.

Pre pay a tip for minimal table service at a kiosk. (Basically a high school kid in sweatpants and sneakers will just bring your food out and that's it.)

The food is delicious and high quality. I love that take out is so simple AND they gave gf buns for my burgers and the fries are also gf.

The food here is absolutely beyond delicious. I've been twice in 5 days if that means anything. I'm a complete ketchup monger and THEY MAKE THEIR OWN. It's the best ketchup I've ever had. I was unsure about the fries fried in tallow but now I don't think I can have it any other way. The bacon is thick and crispy just how I like it. The buns are from Balthazar. In addition to all the culinary goodness, the people there are very welcoming and you can tell hospitality is a priority. I would post a picture of the food but I already ate everything.

Drove 45 minutes and DID NOT DISAPPOINT. Walked in and was greeted seated and ordered right from my phone and my food was brought out quick, hot and delicious. Eveythung I ate was just amazing. The place is kept very clean very neat and has light music playing in the background not to disrupt you eating. It really is an amazing place to try, also Eveythung is extremely healthy!

We love B&B! We live nearby so we go here fairly often and it's honestly our favorite local go-to. We love the mission here, and the fact that they use high quality ingredients with no seed oils. The fries are amazing and a must try. My kids love their hot dogs and we always get their incredible burgers. I'm currently dairy-free but the rest of the fam absolutely raves about their cheese sauce so can't wait to try it myself. I also love their little shop that has a bunch of fun healthy snacks like Vandy chips. Also, the staff is unparalleled in their friendliness and helpfulness. The manager is so kind and my family has had some great convos with him! The staff is also always so sweet to my kids, which isn't always so common nowadays.

My only complaint to you guys is that I can no longer enjoy a burger anywhere else. It's haunting

For an area known for the burgers, Burger and Butcher has left all of the competition behind! Burger was absolutely incredible. For a carnivore diet guy, I will cheat with the bun every time I come here! The tallow fries are great! Wait, ever hear of anyone complimenting the ketchup? Me neither! It's organic and awesome. With one visit, this place has turned into my favorite place in town. I'll try to remember a pic next time! TOMORROW!!!

The grass fed burgers here For me, our lights out because I actually feel better after I eat here this for me is a rare experience Not to put down other places But unless you cook for yourself with grass fed Beef You would never know The fries are done in tallow Instead of hydrogenated seed, oil like other places use to just save money and it gets different and better from here the dairy used is a2 in their shakes and much easier to digest for most people To me this place is the future of how we should expect healthy food thank you BERGER Butcher for caring about the long-term Best JohnnyR

The Double Wagyu smash burger! This is the best burger I've ever had. Melts in your mouth. Big portion. The secret sauce, real American cheese, and soft buttery bun added to the perfection. The fries are hand cut and fried in tallow and were perfectly crisp! No seed oils used in anything on the menu. When the whole world is using GMO's, seed oils, and harmful ingredients ... It's refreshing to know I can dine at Burger and Butcher and feel good about my choices!

"Why can't everyone just use good ingredients?" My husbands words after an amazing and filling meal where we both didn't feel like shi* after because of the high quality ingredients in everything we ate. I knew this place was going to be good after I found them on Seed Oil Scout, but it far exceeded my expectations. The burgers were outstanding and flavorful, and the 100% pasture raised beef tallow fries were just as good as they looked in photos. Even the salt was my fav brand- Redmonds Real salt! And they had it in the salt shakers at your table! What a surprising treat. Organic milkshakes were also delicious and a nice bonus, as well as the unbleached napkins, and sauce containers that aren't plastic. You can tell the owners really care about their customers. We are already talking about coming back to try the cheesesteak, buffalo chicken sandwich, and have some more fries & milkshakes :) this is definitely going to be a go-to spot for us now that were only 20 mins away. thank you for caring about your customers!

Food is amazing. I've tried almost everything on the menu and havn't been disappointed yet. Highly recommended.

I'll give it 4 stars but my wife said it was too rich. One of my sons loved everything the other didn't like anything. I guess it's a matter of taste. We all got grass fed. The meat itself was delicious. I think they can have a better bun and sauce could be tweaked. Maybe add a little spice. All good to me. It is a bit pricy. About a dollar more for similar burgers I get at other places but any one star review on here is ridiculous.

Food and Service was great. Food is amazingly fresh, and really good. Great place for BYOB, then walk to the lake. Great for date night or for big party!! Coming back soon.

We visited beautiful Sparta this past summer stopping in at Burger and Butcher. Absolutely the best Cheeseburger and fries I've ever had!! Freshest handcrafted ingredients culminate to make this amazing burger adventure well worth your while!

The service was outstanding as well as the cleanliness and welcome. I had the cheesesteak and small order of fries. I would suggest more cheese and onions on the cheesesteak. The steak was tasty and juicy. The fries were good, just need to be salted a little. What keeps this from 5 stars is the ketchup and price of the cheesesteak. The ketchup is homemade and I appreciate the try to keep it natural. I didn't care for the ketchup . I like a little ketchup on my cheesesteak and my fries. Therefore, my fries were plain and the cheesesteak wasn't as tasteful. Maybe offer Heinz packets as well. The price of the cheesesteak was a bit high. Simple fix. Will be back to try the burgers when I'm in town.

Food is way over seasoned. Chicken sandwich so much better at chick-fil-a. Honest. A plain circle of chicken on a roll. Lettuce is extra!! Fries are cooked in tallow. Beef fat and have a musky taste and if you have high blood pressure the salt will kill you. They cut the roll for the steak sandwich complete so you cannot lift the sandwich it all falls tout. And all this for a meat $55 not worth half that. Guess you can enjoy the obvious hip hop music that made me feel rushed and uncomfortable. Not music to dine to. What a shame. My friend we were with felt the same way. Too expensive and why over seasoned and salted. What are they hiding. They tried our fries and hated them. The five of us won't be back. Sorry.

I came in from all the hype and was excited to try a good burger. I had to pay extra for pickels and lettuce. Got the double basic burger figuring as I couldn't pay 20 dollars for a waygu double burger. The burger recieved was a sloppy cheese mess with the pickles and lettuce on the bottom. Cheese was like a cheese wiz. Everytime I tried to bite the burger, the patties were running away from me, falling out the bottom. Taste was okay, bland and crispy texture. Nothing exceptional. Fries were good, but not life changing. Save yourself the money and go to 5 guys.

First time here and we ordered the waygu burger, hot dog and fries. We believe it is a little over priced considering the fries were cold, burger was barely warm, and regular buns even though the menu says brioche. Lastly the hot dog was tasteless although it looked good. Staff were friendly but food was just ok.

Straight up delicious burgers and fries. Nothing super duper fancy, no gimmicks, just high quality ingredients and talented cooks. I don't think I've had a burger this delicious, ever? And the fries were the perfect ratio of crispy to soft and well seasoned. Don't sleep on the sauces, the special sauce, house made buffalo, and ketchup are all fantastic. Fully intended to take a picture, ate too quickly because it was so so good.

Service was fine - foods just not great. Wouldn't recommend spending your money here.

This was our first time at this new spot in Sparta and it was a total disappointment. We ordered two double burgers both naked one Grass Fed and standard with out anything to try to access the quality of the meat and the tallow French fries. The grass fed was almost sour and not fresh but both of them where dry with out much taste. The fries were dry and not any good. For two burgers and one large fries at $50 it was a total disappointment both on taste and price. I will not be going back.
