Burger Joint at San Francisco Airport – Friendly Service, Overpriced Eats Burger Joint at SFO offers a decent bite if you’re craving a quick burger before your flight. The staff is friendly and welcoming, which makes for a pleasant experience despite the usual airport rush. The food itself is okay—nothing spectacular, but it gets the job done. However, the prices are shockingly high, even by airport standards. Expect to pay significantly more than you would for the same meal elsewhere. If you’re in a pinch and don’t mind spending extra, it’s an option. Otherwise, you might want to look for better value elsewhere in the terminal.

We are traveling and waiting for several hours in terminal D. We decided to get a burger while waiting for our flight. I asked for a double burger, well done. The burger was pink in the middle. It only looked well done on the outside. It was the most expensive pair of burgers we've ever bought. It could have been at least done the water we ordered it. About $60 for the 2 burgers and fries.

Burger & Fries are certainly of a good quality. Ingredients taste fresh and the meat is cooked fresh. Staff look happy and as such were kind and helpful. Prices are insane, even for an airport, as a Burger/Fries/Drink clocks in at $30 with the “hidden fees” (not including tip).

Waiting for my flight, looking for a brunch and coffee saw this burger joint. I’ve got Philly steak with no cheese. It’s okay, fries is fresh, receptionist was nice. They have bar as well where you can enjoy your meal while waiting for your flight. Atmosphere was great and it’s clean as well. Pardon me I don’t have a picture of my food when I received it. I’m hungry and don’t even think to take picture of my food. I wish they’ll seasoned the meat since I don’t have cheese on it, for sure with cheese it taste good.

Due to not being able to grab breakfast in the Castro before heading to SFO, this was our last-ditch effort to grab some grub before our 5 hour flight to JFK. As I made my way down the food hall, with every restaurant becoming less and less expensive nearer to the gates, I finally spotted Burger Joint and their sign stating that they serve breakfast. Sold! ATMOSPHERE: Located across of gate 55, they have a few dedicated counter seats of their own, or the entire terminal nearby. FOOD: Ham & Cheddar Cheese Scramble Simple and well executed sans for the pressed ham, but the taste was spot on! A very generous helping of deep-fried breakfast potatoes came with along with unbuttered toast of your choice. SERVICE: Counter service was friendly. Food delivery was a quick 5 minutes or less. OVERALL: The best deal in SFO for breakfast!

This place was extremely overpriced for what it was, but I guess that’s just what you pay when you’re at an airport. Food was good. I enjoyed it well enough

Google
Not even McDonald's could match the freshness and wholesomeness of the breakfast sandwich I had here. Fresh three eggs, real bacon, cheese and an English muffin. Hot off the grill, I burnt my tongue a little, the taste was real. For 16 dollars, with fried potato chucks well money spent in a long while. Too bad they don't have an outside source, I'd be a faithful customer. Great job! Service was quick and friendly.

I lost my connection flight at San Francisco airport so I had time to refresh. I came here and ordered Philly steak sandwiches. My sandwich came out of flames! 🔥😂 nice and delicious. The chef 🧑‍🍳 was professional and kind as he asked me how I feel tasting things. Receptionist was kind as well. Good experience while waiting for the next flight!

Yelp
Well, the service was excellent. The young lady taking my order was very helpful and very happy. What she suggested was the cheeseburger, which seem basic but I'm glad I listened. You can sit at the counter and watch the 2 young men work quite well together. It was like every move was choreographed! Plus, they were all singing to the songs played on the radio, and they weren't bad, at all. Food came out and the portion was spot on. Tasted pretty dang good. It was all so fresh! Fries were also good!! If you are at SFO near United gate D11-16, stop by. You'll like it.

Toni Rose M.

Yelp
The burger size is impressive, definitely on the bigger side. The taste is decent, and I appreciate they cater to customization. The cashier was sweet and attentive, which added to the experience. Being at an airport, the price is understandably steep, but overall, it's a good burger.

Sunil R.

Yelp
I got a breakfast sandwich from here and it was just OK. I did not think you could mess up bacon but was overcooked and tasted weird.

Hen A.

Yelp
sfo on a friday morning is busy...traffic jam and crawl to the drop-off...long line for tsa check...barely enough time to eat before boarding...finding burger joint in terminal 2...7:40am and no lines...ordering a breakfast sandwich $15 and coffee $5...about 5 minutes and number called...picking up box...napkin, ketchup and fork on top...opening and finding a good looking breakfast sandwich with split english muffin with folded egg, oozing cheese and bacon inside...the sandwich tasted fresh off the griddle and piping hot...watch out!...loaded with crispy and soft centered house potatoes...both sandwich and potatoes were good...coffee was typical...good breakfast overall...

Anthony F.

Yelp
Had this for lunch prior to a flight. Was the food good? Yes, the burger was done decently and the fries were hot and crispy. Service was what u expect at the airport and seating is airport seating. I considered giving 3 stars because of the price but everything at SFO is crazy expensive. So not their fault I guess.

josh D.

Yelp
Burger fresh made! Employees were really nice Had seat in the area. Was clean and better than expected. 5 stars for bring open past 10:30pm! Food cooked fresh, considering at SFO it was good. Expensive but what else do you expect. Would go back again if delayed at airport.

Violet B.

Yelp
The cheese burger for $19 comes with real potato fries. We enjoyed it. It's an airport location so cannot help that it is a bit pricey. The people who cooked the food were clean and very friendly.

Anne K.

Yelp
Very friendly employees and my sandwich looked really good, lots of fresh veggies. The only complaint is that the chicken was so salty, like almost too salty to eat. My fries had no salt on them so maybe all that salt just landed on my chicken

Eva G.

Yelp
Early flight and was back at the SFO airport. This time I decided to try out breakfast items on the menu. I ordered the following BREAKFAST SANDWICH cage-free eggs, american cheese & bacon on an english muffin. served with home fries BJ SCRAMBLE cage-free eggs scrambled with a choice of bacon or sausage. served with home fries & choice of sourdough or wheat toast Both entrees were delicious and very filling.

Karl A.

Yelp
Are you kidding me? A good airport burger!!! My expectations were low, how often is airport food worth the price? It was worth it at Burger Joint! I ordered at the counter and waiting about 8 minutes for the burger. It was bigger than I was expecting, maybe 2 third pound patties. The burgers had a great char flavor and were cooked to order. Nice and juicy. The bun was soft and fresh. The fries were cooked beautifully and everything was seasoned well. I wouldn't hesitate to eat here again. Great good, great location!

Paul R.

Yelp
For $30 I got the worst meal at the airport. I politely asked for a medium well done burger. It seemed a little pink the first few bites. It got worse with more bites. I don't like the taste to texture of an uncooked burger!!!

John P.

Yelp
Every time I'm flying Alaska, I always get a bacon cheeseburger with fries from Burger Joint. The taste reminds me of a family bbq. It's a simple burger, but it does the job and it's honestly the best airport restaurant place in the Alaska terminal. Service is alright. Sometimes I am waiting to order while some of the workers chat with each other. Once I get the opportunity to order, everything is just fine.

Char H.

Yelp
What is the price of a Cobb salad at Burger Joint SFO? I was charged $22.85. They didn't list the price on the box. Is this correct??

Ryan F.

Yelp
Had dinner at Burger Joint on Sunday evening while waiting for a flight. Could not really ask for more from a burger spot in the airport. Quality: I never have high expectations for airport food, but Burger Joint was solid. Reminded me a bit of a Five Guys burger and the Fries were solid as well. Plenty of choices to customize, and the burgers are fresh off the grill. Quantity: A good sized meal. Value: $16 for a Cheeseburger And Fries. Ambiance: Burger Joint is located inside SFO Airport. While everything is packaged for take-away, they have a diner-like counter attached to the spot for guests to eat at. It made for a fast-casual experience, which felt like a nice escape in the bustling airport. Crowd: With most places deserted this place had a constant line. Service: A short wait, so not the best option if rushing for a flight. Parking: Located inside SFO Airport.

RICHARD J.

Yelp
Very friendly clean and welcoming and the burgers and fries are stellar I got a beer as well worth the price.but the fries

Ravi P.

Yelp
Christmas Eve we were boarding a flight to Tampa. Ordered breakfast croissant and I told them NO meat. The lady asked if I wanted avocado instead and I said ok. Takes 20 minutes and out comes my breakfast croissant with bacon. I went back and told them to change it since I am a vegetarian and don't eat meat. They promptly called me back in 3 minutes and I was surprised that it got ready so quickly. The removed the bacon and inserted avocado. I took a bite and it smelt and tasted horrible just like bacon. Awful service!!!! I even tipped them big!! Expensive and useless!! Threw the breakfast back on the counter and walked away!

Gabriel ..

Yelp
Unfortunately the Cobb salad was not the cheaper option. Beware, the price isn't listed

Albert C.

Yelp
Burger Joint is located inside Terminal 2 of San Francisco International Airport. Their burgers are flame broiled to order. I ordered a double cheese burger with salad. It was filling enough to last me through a 5 hr flight so I did not have to eat onboard. The burger tastes like a burger from a premium burger place. They are a cut above your typical airport burger. They do flame broil the hamburger. So it did take a bit longer to get to order done even though there was no line when I was there. I was pleasantly surprised with having such a good burger at the airport. If you have a bit of time to spare, and are craving for burgers, I would recommend giving this place a try.

Colby C.

Yelp
For an airport restaurant, 4 stars. Outside of an airport, probably 2 stars. The service was pretty rapid and quite friendly. The options available are fairly broad. A double cheeseburger is like $18 before tax and whatnot. In terms of the taste, it was remarkably average. If I was not in airport, I'd expect the burger and fries to be no more than $10. I'd perhaps come back if I had to eat in this terminal again.

Blake G.

Yelp
I patronized this place for years, starting at the original Valencia St. location and continuing at the airport. But I can't justify these prices anymore. It's not the $20 burger that finally did it. It's charging $3 for grilled onions. That's just egregious. The burgers are solid, but the prices are ridiculous.

Tanya W.

Yelp
I missed my flight and was starving and in need of comfort food. This breakfast sandwich and fries were just what the doctor ordered. Add hot sauce and all was right with the world again. Thanks, Burger Joint! We shall meet again...

Robert K.

Yelp
Place was ok. I liked the cashiers suggestion to get the chicken burger. But, I was not a big fan. But if you like bacon they sure put a ton of bacon on mine. I thought the fries were ok. Just wished the sandwich was a little better.

Cassandra T.

Yelp
They made the absolutely worst turkey burger I have ever had. I don't know if it's the worst on the planet, but lord have mercy the flavor awful, condiments did not help save this burger that tastes like trash.

Stephanie G.

Yelp
I fly a lot. This place doesn't disappoint it is what it is air port fast food. But the American burger or the grilled cheese and I really like the fries. Customer service is on point too.

Noemi M.

Yelp
Great ambience and terrific atmosphere with delicious food, a great spot to eat and chill with a relaxing atmosphere and great welcoming and friendly staff!

Julienne M.

Yelp
The #1 service of Terminal 2 Night Shift. Tania, Flor & the cooks John-John, JC & Dennis best costumer service. Duplicate them their stars by 10.

Otto L.

Yelp
They do offer protein style. They will substitute the fries with salad. They still need to grill the patties. Even they grill more than orders, it still takes time to cook and pack it up.

Marlene G.

Yelp
Had breakfast here before catching a flight to Calgary! Had the breakfast sandwich with a side of potatoes! Decent breakfast sandwiches and good potatoes!

Juan D.

Yelp
This place makes the best hamburgers in the airport. I asked for a medium burger and actually got it! I can't get that at some restaurants. It may be a little pricey but it's worth every penny to me. The burgers also come with thick cut fries, just the way I like them. I never thought I'd find a decent burger at the airport.

William L.

Yelp
Excellent food and speedy service, Relatively cheap for airport food, and a small seating area separated from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the airport. Overall excellent

Shannon P.

Yelp
The hamburgers are rare. They say it's medium but it's not:( be careful if you don't want to be sick. They argue with you that's it's done medium. I would like it well then please and minus the sassy! Thank you

Mike K.

Yelp
What can you say, typical airport fare. Decent service, temperature was ok but not great, and nobody cleaned refuse off the counter for over an hour. And typical airport pricing. Burger fries and soda $20. Loved the Haight street locale in the day though.

Tina M.

Yelp
Chose the best place I could find while waiting for our fight to LA, chose the Burger Joint, They offered a selection of sandwhiches: Hamburger, cheeseburger, philly cheesesteak, breakfast sandwhich.Ended up getting the turkey burger and the BJ Scramble - eggs with fries, toast, and a choice of bacon or sausage as well. It is ok, the sandwhich and the scramble we got was dry. Could have tasted better for the price.

Gabriel D.

Yelp
Okay, where to start. Pricing: This is an airport. And SFO at that. Inflated pricing is expected. I'm surprised it's not $16.99 for a single and $20.99 for a double. I can live with $13.95 + $1.25 tax + $0.28 EE charge = $15.48 for a cheese burger with fries. I'm questioning if I was supposed to get fries as the menu is a bit confusing. The menu shows cheeseburger for $13.95 and $4.50 for fries. But then the description at the top shows that it does include fries so idk.. I was expecting $13.95 for just the burger, so the fact that it came with fries made it even more reasonably priced. Food: The menu states that by default, the cheeseburger should come with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and mayo. I asked if I could have extra lettuce and tomato and the cashier said yeah np, and it looked like she inputted this, but my receipt didn't mention it. Surely enough, I get my burger with no extra lettuce, no extra tomato, no mayo, no onions, and no pickles. Bruh. Come on now. I was eating my burger when I felt it was missing something, and that's when I realized it didn't have onions. The burger felt a bit dry without the onions there. I liked that they grill the buns but overall the burger was still pretty dry and not moist. It's not a nice juicy burger, just a nice burger. It has that nice flame grilled taste at least. I wanted what I paid for, I so went back and asked for onions. The cashier then asked the cook for onions, and he put 3 slices on a drink lid. I ate all them onions with the remainder of my burger. Surprisingly enough, despite what other reviews say, I liked the fries. Yes, they lacked salt, but that's what's good about them. They're not super salty, which is better for you. I didn't see if they had salt on the side that you could add, but it's not a deal breaker. The fries had a nice crisp to them; they weren't soggy. I asked if they have Ranch and they do! So pro tip, ask for a side of Ranch (it's free). Goes well with the fries. I also mixed Cholula with ketchup. Overall, the burger was good, but not great. Wasn't moist. Nothing special, but had a nice char taste like Habit Burger. But it definitely lacked complexity in flavor. Wait time: paid at 8:42 PM, got my order at 8:56 PM. Made to order so can't complain, but it'd be nice if they tried guessing to save some time. So for example, if they see 10 people in line, maybe 3 will order a burger, so they can put 3 patties on the grill to save some time. They don't have to guess as much either if they gather some data. In a given day, they can track how many people order a cheese burger or double cheese burger every hour. Overall: Considering this is an airport, it could be worse. It was edible, unlike the breakfast burrito I had last time I was here at this terminal. Not 5 stars for sure, and better than 3 stars overall, maybe 3.5, so let's round to 4. I'll be coming back.

Shayla B.

Yelp
For airport food, this spot is pretty legit! If you're flying out a SFO terminal 2, this a good place to grab a quick (hot) breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Just be forewarned; the options are pretty limited on this side, so the lines can get long. But, the people working here move quickly, so unless the line is ridiculous, you won't have to wait too long. It's also surprisingly cheap for airport food. Okay, lemme elaborate on that; it ain't cheap by any means... BUT, it's a cheaper option compared to some of the other places in terminal 2. This place is known for their burgers, and why wouldn't it be with a name like "The Burger Joint"? However I must say, they also make a mean breakfast sammy and delicious BLT sammies too! They also have vegetarian items (not really sure about vegan options though??). The last time I ate here, I got a BLT with American cheese and fries. They definitely did NOT skimp on the bacon! Hella crispy bacon with the perfect amount of mayo spread. My only nitpick about it was that the cheese wasn't melted. But hey, it was still pretty damn good for cheapER airport food! The fries were nice and hot, and the entire meal filled me up right before my flight. I love that the condiment section is located right on the side of the cash register and if often fully loaded with everything that you need. Still haven't tried their actual burgers yet, but hoping to give one a try the next time that I'm hangry and flying out of SFO terminal 2.

Bree A.

Yelp
As I received my burger a person leaned over the counter to my left and told one of the employees it was maybe the best burger they've ever had. And I agree! If you're in the D terminal at SFO for any amount of time I highly recommend it. Perfectly cooked to order patty, lots of pickle and a round of red onion with lettuce and juicy tomato. Good fries too! Not over seasoned , but there's shakers and condiments at the counter if you like. Made my flight delay a positive!

Nicholas B.

Yelp
Paid 26 bucks for a super mid burger. Fries were also mid. Kinda had a feeling it would be mid when I walked by but was hungry. Should have trusted my instincts.

John M.

Yelp
I order a hotdog with fries and a coke. $21 F-ing dollars. No more and I blame the City and County of San Francisco for their hidden fees. Ridiculous.

Nikita G.

Yelp
Burger Joint def deserves 5 stars for "airport food." I had time to kill before my flight to NY so I decided to grab some breakfast. The food options are def limited in this terminal (especially if you want a real breakfast - not some grab 'n go sandwich) and this place felt like a safe bet. Food seems to be fresh and made-to-order ..I think it took about less than 10 mins or so to receive my food. I ordered the 2 egg scramble - came with home fries and toast. The potion was pretty huge and certainly felt worth the $11 price tag. They serve breakfast till 11 am - lots to choose from. I'm def planning to try lunch/dinner during one of my trips. The burgers and fries look pretty good!

anna s.

Yelp
Quite good for airport food. i am a bit perplexed that the reviews aren't better. and the staff was super friendly and quick. Get the burger

Alexis J.

Yelp
Pricey but I got a Caesar & my husband got a chicken club sandwich. It exceeded my expectations. The workers are fast paced and super friendly. They are constantly cleaning and sanitizing. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend. Cons: it gets busy && it's pricey but it's an airport what do you expect.

Berj D.

Yelp
While there were many places within the airport that I could have dined at, but this was conveniently located by my gate. I ordered a cheese burger with Swiss cheese and it came with fries. The food was very well cooked and tasted great with all seasonings on point. While waiting for my food, I also happened to observe the staff, while friendly with the customer and virtuous, I couldn't help that one was constantly checking his phone, and then took a "FaceTime call" from a friend, on speaker, and he even flipped him off on camera. The staff was young and definitely needs training, the food was very good.

wendy j.

Yelp
The food here is so satisfying and delicious! I check in and go straight to Burger Joint to eat a cheeseburger or a Mary's Chicken Sandwich. They are made to order and are hot off the grill with everything on them. The sandwiches are loaded with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, special sauce and more. Wrapped in paper, they will stay together for awhile but eventually but are so deliciously messy, they eventually break into pieces. The fries are good, however get extra salt! They never seem to have enough salt. They are hot and fresh. Service is always consistently good. Burger Joint has other items too, for vegetarians. There is plenty of seating nearby and wipes to clean your tables. They use compostable packaging and have bins for disposal. I have to say, it's a great airport meal!

Diandra L.

Yelp
Burger joint is a decent option for a quick meal if you're at SFO. I ordered a burger, fries and a soda for a grand total of $19. The service was friendly, and +1 for them making everything to order. They have grab and go options if you're in a rush, as well as breakfast and of course lunch/dinner options as well. Burger joint offers some counter seating, and it's located in a food court type area that has a good amount of tables and chairs to eat your food before a flight.

Bill U.

Yelp
Great burger from a airport restaurant but the fries were so so. Very surprised. I ordered the cheeseburger with no additional toppings just as is and it was delicious. You have to wait a bit so if you're in a hurry to catch your flight I would move along

Jim P.

Yelp
Yes, yes and yes! the hamburger was sizzling, large & juicy! Cooked to a perfect medium, slightly pink in the center. Just right! I added grilled onions and jalapenos. For some reason they sided my burger with those peppers rather than topping my burger with them. Not a problem except when you take the top off the burger to install them, it seemed to fall apart! Fries were good and adequate portion. Drink, hamburger and fries with tip was a painful $22.00! I know its at the San Francisco airport but still overpriced for lunch.

Sophia K.

Yelp
I'm actually surprised at how much I liked my burger considering I have low expectations for airport food. I got a mini cheeseburger with fries and I was pretty satisfied with my meal. The burger was cooked well and I liked the grilled flavor. The veggies in the burger was fresh, which I appreciated. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, but just tasted like potatoes. I added some pepper and it was a lot better. Overall, decent burger and I would get it again.

Amy -.

Yelp
TL;DR - Stuck here for breakfast, so while this is airport pricing, the eggs are my favorite type of eggs. I was stuck here in the morning and I was hungry. There's not a lot of options, and fewer of them that are priced well. Are you stuck in that position too? Then go to Burger Joint. They have their scrambled eggs just right, like the late scrambled eggs on a well oiled grill. Yum!

Vince N.
