Five Burger King Employees Fired for Drawing a Pig on a Cop’s Order | Eater

"A fast-food outlet in Clovis, New Mexico became the center of a controversy after officer Timo Rosenthal ordered a burger in uniform and found a pig drawn on the wrapper with a small star badge; he later complained on Facebook that the patties were burnt and the sandwich was of very poor quality, attributing the treatment to his uniform. Rosenthal also raised the issue on Fox & Friends, arguing that while people have freedom of speech, actions that prevent him from enjoying his lunch go too far. That might just be the longest I’ve ever waited in a drive through, literally 30 minutes. I even ordered ahead of time on line to make the process faster, instead it meant my food was all cold. On top of that the burgers no longer taste flame broiled. Very bland. Not impressed to say the least.

I wish i would have read the reviews before coming here. All the complaints are still true. There was no one in the drive thru or the restaurant and it still took them forever to make our food and somehow the food was still cold and the fries were tough and wrinkled as if they stuck yesterday's fries under the hot lamp. The place is filthy, our tray that the food was put on was extremely sticky, play area looks like it hasn't been cleaned since the 90s. Not going to go back, we're praying we don't get sick from the food.

Went in today to dine in. Play area, tables, and floors were a mess. My kids went inside the play area and came right back out because there was poop yes poop smeared everywhere inside. We told the workers about it and they went in with a broom like that was gonna clean anything. Ketchup and fountain area very disgusting. My daughter needed the restroom while we were there but we ended up leaving asap I did not even want to see the condition it was in. Now I know why the place was empty I will not be going back not even through the drive thru. I feel sick now. 🤢 Karen activated. I should've took pictures honestly. If there was a zero star rating I would have selected it.

Ordered ahead in the app said pick up time was 3:57 I get there at 4:07 and had to wait till 4:20 for incorrect food. Don’t have time to get it fixed. It wasn’t a difficult order. I think they just honestly DO NOT care to get it right. Bunch of careless kids working here.

One person was working the front counter and the drive thru window. The ordering was very slow (about 20 minutes to order). Getting my food took 15 minutes. When I got home, only 3 minutes away, the food was cold. It will be a long time as in never before I go to Burger King again.

A few other cars and I just got turned away at 8:30 pm at the drive thru because we were told the kid was “watching a movie right now and couldn’t make food..” I honestly couldn’t believe it when I heard that come over the drive thru box … i come a few times a week , i probably won’t be coming back after this

Our food was drowning in mayo. We had to wait for the chicken sandwich but they didn't care if we had cold fries. Yuck!! Wouldn't stop here again.

Food is good, but service is slow. The frozen soda machine is down even more than McDonald’s Ice Cream machine.

During my recent trip, I had the pleasure of stopping at this location. Unfortunately they were having computer issues and couldn't take orders. They gave everyone free ice cream in hopes the computers would be up in 5 min. When they realized that the computers were not coming back up, they started taking orders by hand without charge. I don't fault anyone for computer issues, but I do applaud a company that is dedicated to customer satisfaction and service. Make sure next time your in Clovis, NM to stop by for a great burger!

Hamburgers patties are always cold. Buns are not even hot ! I love Burger King food, except in Clovis, N.M. Manager needs to take control of food !!!!

Went through the drive through- we had one car in front and several behind- we waited at the speaker for 4 minutes before they took our order. We rarely go to BK anymore and we remember why when we get to have an experience like this.

They have a play place! Staff was polite and nice. They made fresh coffee as there was none. Could have been cleaner. Also THEY HAVE A PLAY PLACE! Food was a typical BK.

After a movie, our kids suggested we grab a bite from the local Burger King. After waiting 2 minutes at the drive thru's speaker, I should have pulled away. We ordered four simple meals and the entire ordering process took around 6 minutes, including the 2 minute wait (which strangely enough there were no cars ahead of ours). There are no smiles here. This is the Burger King that joy forgot. The mood is dark and dismal. I should have known from past experience that their lousy service creates lousy food. Not even a glimmer of a smile on anyone's face. Their leadership must be of North Korean decent, perhaps even Kim Jong Un himself? Alas, we retreat for the comforts of home and I unwrap the saddest chicken sandwich of them all. Even the cheese is trying to escape the misery and wretchedness of chewy bread and a chicken filet that was overcooked. I might consider returning here someday if I hear that management has changed, or at the very least changed their philosophy. Happy employees make a happy workplace. I'm sure it would turn the service and the food around for the better. Until then, avoid this place at all costs.

I want to congratulate the response Burger King took to the outrageously poor and unwarranted treatment of the police officer at the Clovis, NM restaurant. No wavering, no gray areas, no hollow lip service. You took immediate action to fire the employees responsible and offered complimentary food and catering to welcome police officers back to your restaurant. I'm glad to see there are still institutions with a clear sense of right and wrong.

Food was shitty, gave us food poisoning, and TWICE they tried to not give the correct change. Once claiming they were out, but they were too lazy to go ask their manager for it, WHICH IS YOUR SIMPLE JOB. And the second time, they didn't have change, went to the back and brought us $0.65 in pennies, did not count it out for us. So while they helped the next person, we counted the pennies right there at the counter. $0.05 short, tried to blame the manager saying they gave it to him like that, and magically reached in their register with "no change" and pulled out a nickel. Trying to be a smart ass when you're dumb is a waste of everyone's time. If I could I'd put negative stars.

Went there the other day and the food is pretty typical BK fare, nothing unexpected. Greasy but good overall. The service was prompt and friendly, even though I was in the drive-thru and it was storming. Employees smiled at me (which is always a nice touch). I would go back. Also, I agree that what happened to the cop was uncalled for, but I feel like that cop blew it way out of proportion, and was just pandering for attention after that incident, rather than moving on with his life. They didn't serve him toxic food, nor did anyone jeopardize his life. There are bigger things to worry about in this world. But that's my two cents. This Burger King is no worse than any other. Don't feel like you have to get caught up in the silly media frenzy!

WORST BK I've been to. The lady at the window was being smart with me since I started ordering I asked for a regular side of fries and she she said I don't know regular you either want small medium or large which one is it and obviously regular means medium anyone that works at fast food knows that she also kept trying to rush me and when I finally got my food she was extremely rude then we pulled out and my husband tried my sons sprite and it was watered down as was mine so I went back to get that fixed and again she was rude and then made another employee help me. This place needs new management or something horrible service!

They are extremely slow! Iced coffee tasted like spoiled milk. Sausage on breakfast sandwich is over cooked and dried out. Hash browns are over cooked and hard. Chicken fries are cold, French fries are stiff and hard. 0 is a better rating!

They get 3 starts for the good cheap ice cream. It seems every time I had ordered it just wasn't good and service was a joke. They didn't carry sweet potato fries like other burger kings were. I haven't been back in a year except for a drive through ice cream cone for my daughter and hubby

I'm not even sure where to begin. Right up there with the worst. First red flag was steven, the manager who was taking our order (I believe he was the manager) had terrible hygiene. His fingernails were absolutely disgusting, completely packed with grime. I wanted to vomit, but for some unknown reason we continued to order. Huge mistake. Next I'm getting my tea, the spout blows off the tea canister and shoots all over my clothes and shoes. Not a huge deal, it was accidental and unavoidable, but they have no napkins to clean up with, so I'm standing there asking numerous times for napkins before I receive any. Awesome. Then as we are standing there, this steven character with filthy fingers and everything else is vocally talking with his workers about the customers, as many customers are standing there listening, going on about how they will just pay them to go down the street to macdonals and get quarter pounders if they don't like "it", whatever it is. I can assure you, macdonals would have been much better. After all of this, we didn't even get any resolve, no apologies, nothing. Barely the napkin I mentioned. I even had to come back into the store and grab my new cup since the spout ended up in my last one...it was a medium and they gave me a large, so courteous. I pretty much had to get dragged out of there before I spontaneously combusted. Additionally when we were sitting in our vehicle prior to our escape, we saw another couple walk out without food that was behind us in line. I'm sure they were equally as repulsed. Avoid at all cost. We are waiting on a call from corporate to actually get this huge problem resolved, those people are killing that burger King and it's not right.

If I could rate 0 stars I would. Everytime I come here my order is wrong. I'm guessing the employees can't read. I ordered at 12:09 in the drive thru was told to pull up. Got my food at 12:24. Got home didn't even have the right food, and the food they gave me was cold. I tried to call two different numbers listed for them and no answer. I had to drive back to the store and get my correct order.

RIDICULOUSNESS AT IT'S UTMOST!!! The lady taking orders did not speak English. Completely goofed my order up. I tried to explain to her how I did not order any ice cream and she just did not get it? I was charged for not one but 3 extra ice creams and 3 extra cheeses.I ordered none of those items but could not get this through the THREE employees heads who came over to see what I was complaining about. Thinking I might get some resolution to the situation I pulled forward to the second window. It was even WORSE. I just got tired of arguing with the horribly nasty woman at the next window with the pit bull, bad attitude who insisted my order and total was right. It was not. I was over charged by almost 40%. =0 This was my third time through their drive through in the last year. All 3 times they have goofed my order up and been nasty rude. The first time the fries were cold and tasted like old grease, I had ordered the satisfries and got the other fries. The next time they forgot my fries and my Chicken sandwich was the consistency of cardboard and about as tasty. The thing that gets me most, is each time my last three visits I have been treated like I am a big pain in their backside. I love Burger King Just not in Clovis NM. I blame the management. Every time the manager has been there and sat back and allowed his help to treat the customers with disrespect while he watched in bewilderment. I know I am not the only one who has been treated this way. At a party a couple of weeks ago another friend was talking about her bad experience with this BK and so many of the party goers felt the same way about the Clovis NM Burger King. They are loosing patrons right and left and just don't care.

My toddler begged to come here tonight because she loves the indoor play area. Against my better judgement, I relented and of course regretted it. Took over 10 minutes to receive our "fast" food. Bathrooms and play area are filthy. What is the most irritating to me is that I always see more employees here than any other fast food restaurant in town but half of them are just sauntering around the restaurant looking at their cell phones. This obviously makes the customer service pretty terrible too. Won't be returning any time soon.
