Stopped in to treat my riders from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Elementary School because they wanted burger king. We were second in line until the gentleman in front of me left after waiting five minutes and no one showed up. Mind you, the girl from the drive through saw the 10 of us standing in line. Then a short while later, a young man came to front and left without asking us a single question or offering a welcome.
First, whats the training and customer protocols for when guests are in, entering, or waiting in line for service.
Second, if you can't help me, state that, then go get someone who can.
Third, if you're the drive through girl, take our order because you have the ability, maybe not the autonomy to do so?
Finally, the manager appears, no apology for the wait, no greeting, but at least shes there. She cordially takes our order, 6 double cheeseburger kids meals, 1 special, and two chicken nuggets meals. Cool. She hands the kids the cups and they're off to drain the soda machine! At least they are entertaining.
I stood there watching the process, I haphazard mess...she tried to organize the bags and stage the orders while three people clocked in...it was Friday at 4:46 to be exact. The gentleman behind me ordered, two doordash orders were filled before my order, and two more walk up orders were filled before the first fry hit the bag. Meanwhile, drive through girl has filled 10 orders! I know where im going if we ever come back here.
15 minutes later...they start bagging my order. She had to tell the first young man to help her. He busily put fries in the bags. Thank him for that. Drive through girl still banging out orders. The kids finally get their meals after 20 minutes of playing on the playground, thank God for that!
Got the sauces wrong but thats ok the kids went back and forth to the counter.
I know the employment situation is challenging...these young folks don't want to work, have little customer service or interfacing skills...but train them up in the way they should go (bible verse?), set the example, then release them or release them to find another job. Priorities are set by Management and the franchise, I'm sure the training manual or modules addresses this!
I'd like to patronize bk but I may have to trump their voting and the democratic process in the way they select restaurants for efficiency. We burned 45 minutes at bk's after pedaling here from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Elementary School.
