Sen. Feinstein Seeks FTC Investigation Into Alleged Burgerim Deception | Eater

"A fast-expanding, originally Israeli slider-focused burger franchise is facing allegations of deceptive franchising after a three-part investigation found it sold as many as 1,200 franchise licenses in 40 states over four years while prioritizing new license sales over supporting existing operators. Senator Dianne Feinstein has urged the FTC to investigate amid reports that many franchisees were lured with promises of quick profits and money-back guarantees that were never honored, and instead encountered high startup costs, a confusing menu that generated food waste and lost revenue, and a business model that collected little or no royalties. Roughly 200 locations are currently open but the vast majority are reportedly unprofitable, more than 100 have already closed, and the company now faces about 90 lawsuits — including one from influencer Jonathan Cheban over nonpayment and use of his likeness. The CEO allegedly fled the country in November, a chief restructuring officer has been appointed and bankruptcy has been contemplated, which could devastate struggling operators; individual franchisees recount severe personal losses, with some taking personally guaranteed SBA loans, selling homes, and even becoming homeless. Overall a great place to eat! Food is Halal!!! There are plenty of options to choose from. We ordered onion rings, Angus Burger, Fried/crispy burger, and I think Poutine with jalapeños. All of them tasted great! The onion rings were really crispy and good. Same with the burgers. I’m not going to lie but the poutine wasn’t the best but still decent. The staff were also really kind and gave us burger sauce on the side that tasted good. 1 suggestion for the restaurant is to just put less salt on the burgers. But other than that is tasted good!

A fast food shop. The burgers they served were delicious. The same goes for onion rings. It's a small restaurant with not much rush when we visited on weekend at 2pm. It's a halal food option.

Omg I got to rate at least 10/5 because it’s that good! I got Spanish burger and Cajun fries and it’s so delicious! The sweetness of the burger buns and the fresh meat and vegetables inside the burger is incredible! First time eating here and will return again! Store owner is very sweet as well! Loved it here!! I definitely recommend the Spanish burger if you love spice like me!! It’s yummy trust me!

I am mixed on this review. This place looks like it was a great burger place at one time. Unfortunately the building itself appears run down, lots of unfinished repairs on the walls, a soda machine that sits there- non functional, the bathroom was in similar shape. There was one guy working the counter (taking orders) and the same guy went and prepared the food. No sign of any other employees. It was a Sunday, so maybe it’s different on a weekday in downtown? But I have have to say the employee was very friendly and fairly efficient in making our food. We ordered a burger with onion rings and a grilled chicken sandwich, which had Swiss cheese and an aioli sauce on it, and I got fries on the side. My husband was not impressed with his burger, but did enjoy his onion rings! I liked my grilled chicken sandwich, though I did think it odd that the chicken came as three strips(see photo). My fries tasted like they had been under a warmer all day.

Fries were disgusting with 0 seasoning, and just tasted freezer burned and sad. You could smell the oil before even opening the bag and I knew instantly it was going to be bad. Even the chicken sandwich and burger were awful. It really just tasted like cafeteria food. Id rather have mcdonalds

I had a great experience at this burger place! The customer service was excellent, even though it was late. Sai was incredibly pleasant and accommodating—he even opened the restroom for our friends despite it being closed. The food was hot and delicious. Highly recommend!

This place was recommended to me by friends, I’m no longer friends with those people because how awful my experience was. The food was bland and the meat was tough and bacon chewy. The man I’m Assuming was the owner was really defensive and was rude to me when I said I wasn’t happy with my order. I’m glad the food was halal but I’d rather eat the grass outside than this again

Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon after a show at the Gamut Theater, it was not busy. Like we were only two of four customers there. Loved the seating by the windows, allowed for plenty of people watching. Stick with the classics! Got the Angus Beef burger, the sauce itself makes this. Fresh tasting ingredients. My partner got the cowboy and wasn't a fan of the bbq or ketchup. I was happy with my choice. Friendly and fast service here, also it's Turkey bacon not regular bacon so heads up. They only had cans of soda available, which honestly I don't mind since I'm weary of soda machines. Will have to try them again for lunch, curious to see what the crowd is during the lunch hour.

Harshly tried to overcharge my friends and i until we noticed they added extra charges, the food is not worth the prices. as someone who's a culinary arts major. The burgers were mediocre and rubbery. Wouldn't come back, unless desperate. Horribly service and food. DO NOT GET THE HARD UNEDIBLE UNION RINGS.

Roaches. I asked to go to bathroom and she told me i needed to buy something. I said 99 cent cheese, and the lady of a certain race behind the counter started yelling at me for asking such a thing. Maybe for the better, i will poop without the roaches.... One was just crawling up the wall towards the (locked) bathrooms and kitchen.

Stopped in on a Sunday for a quick lunch. We were the only customers in the restaurant at about 3pm. Only one woman was working both the register and kitchen. Place was clean and menu seemed appealing. I ordered the cowboy burger with fries. Burger was just oaky. Not special about it. Only real flavor I was getting was from the bbq sauce. It's not on my list of good burger places in Harrisburg. Not saying I won't give it another shot. But definitely won't make a trip out of my way to stop.

Stopped by for lunch on a Saturday since they have halal meat. We got a grilled chicken and beef burger, because those were the halal options available; patties were okay, burgers were bland, lacking flavor, nothing to write home about. There was plenty of confusion about which halal options were available, so be sure to ask for halal meat if that's what you want (don't assume it's halal by default). The lady in the kitchen was yelling at the girl at the counter, so that made us rather uncomfortable (never a good look).

Probably a generous 3, but now I remember why I don't stop in here so often: it's just ok. Many other people must agree because we were the only customers and I don't see people inside too often. Falafel burger was ok. Needed more flavor and had too much onion. I'll order more carefully if I come back. Onion rings were ok. Chocolate shake was ok. Service was ok. So, ok? For $18 dollars we got all of the above plus a fountain drink. Not worth the money but not so outrageous that I'll never come back. Maybe I'll get a burger again and decide if I'm done for good or come back. We shall see...

Love coming here after the bars/downtown, the burgers are always so good! They may not always have sweet potato fires but they are also very good just ask for salt packets!

I'm surprised they don't have a presence on yelp yet but this place just newly opened in downtown Harrisburg! They have lots of options as a quick chain burger joint where you can custom order individual burgers or create party sliders to take home and feed parties. I found out about this place through Pennlive and went to try it. It seemed to be a hopping place for those who live downtown. The restaurant was very clean and the service was good. Please don't expect this place to ask you for this place to ask you how done you want your burger. I know we weren't asked but I would compare this to a Shake Shack fast casual joint. Also note they're fries are interesting and different. It's like if fries and chips had a baby. They are thinly cut slices of potato that look like thin chips but are still thick enough to be substantial. It's worth a try and cool that someone was willing to invest in bringing a new brand into the area.

One Sunday, the girlfriend and I were discussing lunch options. She said something about us not having burgers for a while. After a few seconds, I remembered we had eaten at BurgerIM the day before. It was THAT forgettable. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. As a longtime gluttony enthusiast, my gut reaction should be "I want another one, NOW!" Also, their weird little fry-coins didn't seem to be cooked all the way through. Do yourself a favor and go a few blocks up the street to BurgerYUM. You'll get something light years ahead in the flavor department and be supporting a local business instead of some mediocre chain.

We ordered one of the party packs with just burgers, and let me tell you it was not a party. It was more of a sad experience and an embarrassment to burgers. The beef burger had no flavor it was bland, dry, and it smelled bad too. It was like nothing went into the burger. There were no spices, just nasty smelly, dry meat with a poor excuse of some kind of sauce. Now look at the chicken! It was a poor, soggy, salty, dry on the inside, hard on the edges, barely had any sauce or toppings, nasty little burger. I will never be going back for the burgers. Look how tiny these are! I don't care how much it costs. USA fried chicken 4 min away has much better burgers than this place and they are like $0.40 cents more. I have never been to burger yum but I bet it is much better than this place. Don't even think about getting the salmon burger. It tastes like cat food out out of the can. Dry, bland, falls apart, grey, remembering it makes me want to throw up. Absolutely disgusting and an embarrassment to food. Just stop selling burgers and keep the shakes.

A solid chain place to get a burger and the sliced potatoes that are their "fries." Early afternoon on a Saturday, I was the only customer while I was there, so can't say what it's like when busy. For my visit, the service was quick and friendly, and the food was fresh and tasty. Although branded as a gourmet burger place, it's a chain and isn't going to be the sort of experience some might be looking for, nor is it priced as such -- think of something in the same relative place as a Smashburger. Portion sizes appear to be similar to other chains as well, so probably not feeding two people on one sandwich. All in all, a good option for a quick bite downtown. I'm sure I'll be back in as I live nearby and it's an easy walk.

Same old frozen burger I can make at home. Don't you know that Burger Yum is right down the street? You need to up your game. I also got a "Caesar Salad" and it was cut lettuce like you buy at the supermarket and a package of takeout caesar salad dressing. Extremely mediocre. You know you can actually make real Caesar Salad dressing? It isn't hard.

This spot gives a twist to your typical burger. They offer different types of burgers, beef, lamb, turkey, & salmon burgers. The falafel burger is by far my favorite burger here. Give them a try if you want to experience something different

My friend and I went for lunch and we were the first ones to order. Added an avocado topping for my burger for additional 79 cents and it came with a tiny piece of avocado. My friend added mushrooms which never made to the plate. Had to call the guy and show them our plates then they brought his mushrooms and some avocados. We ordered milkshakes which we had to remind them to bring and finally made to our table after we were almost done with the lunch. Overall very disappointed with the service and price. On the plus side the food was tasty. Was excited to try this new place but probably wont return.

I hate to give three stars because the food I got was awesome, but it took way too long and the cashier was surly, unsmiling, and uncommunicative. I was the only customer in the store on a Tuesday afternoon at 3:30. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich. It took 8 minutes to show up, so I can't imagine the wait times when they have multiple customers. If I were grading just on that and the cashier's mute indifference the score would be one star. The sandwich itself was incredible, though. The chicken was juicy, the bun nice and soft, and the flavor was outstanding. I didn't try any sides so all I can rate is the grilled chicken. Five stars for that, though.

I thought overall the experience was good. Stopped in for lunch and it was crowded. Claimed a seat and went to the counter to order. The gentleman at the counter didn't look up from what he was doing for a solid 30 seconds and then didn't greet us. He asked what we would like to order. Not the best but it was busy and I can let it slide. I had the dry aged beef burger. It is similar to a cowboy burger that you can find most places. Burger was good. Took them about 10 minutes to get it to us despite about 6 people waiting before us. I enjoyed their take on fries. I wasn't wowed by any one aspect but it was good enough that I will likely go back to try some of the other options.

First let me start by saying the food is good. It's the service. They just seem very unorganized and the clerk was frazzled. He took my order just fine. Then I waited, and waited and waited. A few more people came in and ordered then they waited and they got their food. I'm still waiting. The clerk then had to change out the coke machine, tie his shoe, wash his hands and then he could get my order. So I thought. They still did not have my fries. He had to ask several times for them. All the while, orders via Doordash were stacking up in the window and the people were coming in to pick them up. I only have a half hour for lunch, it's literally just around the corner from my office and I was late getting back. I will probably not be coming back.

Stopped by after work despite the bad reviews, wanted to give it a go for myself. There were no customers when I went to order (10 pm). Ordered a mix your two of buffalo chicken sandwich and Angus burger with a side of fries. Waited about 15 minutes in an empty restaurant, once I got my food I discovered that my chips (their version of fries) were cold, uncooked, and unseasoned. The buns on sandwiches fell apart immediately. The burger tasted like a frozen patty with no seasoning and the chicken patty was soggy. For a place that's claiming gourmet burgers, they didn't even meet the standards of a fast food restaurant.
