How to Navigate Thomas Keller’s Cheffy Summer Pop-Up, Burgers & Half Bottles | Eater SF

"A limited-run Thomas Keller pop-up in Yountville, set in the former La Calenda space, delivers a high-low summer thrill: wagyu burgers and other favorites at almost startling prices (think $14 burgers) that have turned the sidewalk into a waiting room and the patios into a block party. Lines curl down the block before opening, but the system is smooth—order at the counter, drop your phone number, find a seat in the dining room or the shaded patios, and wait for the text to pick up. Music drifts across both patios while a cherry-red 1965 Volkswagen “Brew Bus” pours local beers, including Pliny the Elder; half-bottles and glasses of wine keep things festive, too. The menu sticks to greatest hits—wagyu burgers, a spicy buttermilk fried chicken sandwich, golden crinkle-cut fries, and thick, old-school milkshakes—with room for a splurge like a buttery lobster roll (with a caviar supplement) and a decadent ice cream sandwich built on a Bouchon Bakery cookie; families get a kid’s meal and easy combo deals. Aim for the sweet spot around 2 p.m. to dodge the peak lunch crush but beat sell-outs, go straight for the spicy buttermilk fried chicken sandwich, sip a cold Pliny from the vintage red Brew Bus while you wait, and finish with that refined ice cream sandwich. Open noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday through Halloween (Sunday hours may change), this pop-up has locals and tourists treating a burger run like a once-in-a-season event." - Vincent Vitale

Google
Strategically executed concept that delivers outsized value. The $15 wagyu burger is a best-in-class benchmark, the lobster roll over-delivers on quality and balance, and the crinkle-cut fries are operationally perfect. The wine program is a power move—access to Napanook half bottles materially elevates the experience and reinforces brand credibility. Overall, a smart, approachable extension of the Thomas Keller ecosystem that drives both traffic and loyalty while maintaining culinary integrity.

Google
We went on New Year’s Day right after opening. Delicious cheeseburger and attentive staff. The lobster roll was small and a bit salty to my taste. The beer van is so cute! Next time I want to try the beer as well, but will pass on the lobster roll.

Anthony K.

Google
It was just okay, the cheese was extremely overpowering in the cheeseburger and the fries were just alright. The fries definitely tasted like they were only fried once heavily and not double fried to not give it that overly crispy/soggy texture that only happens with frying fresh fries once. The lobster roll felt like a complete rip off since it was $29 for a tiny roll, I’ll drive the extra hour to Bodega Bay for a roll. And for burgers, I’d rather go to Gotts 🤷🏻‍♂️ The only saving grace was the Chicken Sandwich, light breading, crisp, and the slaw was great.

Google
Glad we tried it, but this is a one and done for us. We spent $90 on 1 cheeseburger combo meal w/beer upgrade, 1 spicy chicken sandwich, 2 ice cream sandwiches and 2 HH beers. Wait on a Friday afternoon (Friday before Labor day) around 4:30 was less than 5 minutes. Luckily we snagged an open table by the beer van as soon as it became available. Unfortunately, the food wasn't served piping hot, clearly it had been prepared ahead and sitting under heat lamps. Burger buns were dry and didn't taste like much. The best thing we ate was the ice cream sandwiches and Pliny beer! 😂

Acalia C.

Google
Burger and fries were great, but the fried chicken sandwich was the real star of the meal! Definitely worth getting both. The wait was around the corner but moved quickly, about 30 minutes for us, and the food came out fast once ordered. Totally worth the wait!

Google
My wife and I both had the wagyu burger with cheese and it was absolutely perfect. I paired mine with the lager they serve. We had a great, filling meal in a cool space. Will be back before they wrap up the pop up.

Google
I think this is a great pop up! Who doesn’t love Burgers AND from Thomas Keller. Win- win. His Chicken Sandwich is always fantastic and the milk shakes were delicious. I already want to go back.

Sergio

Google
Great service, friendly staff. I ordered the wagyu cheeseburger, fries and a strawberry milkshake. Food came out quickly. Order was inaccurate. I ordered the cheeseburger without onions since I heavily dislike their flavor. Burger came out with onions. Fries were okay. Finally the milkshake wasn't that good. Tasted a little powdery at times. I definitely except a way better experience for this being a Thomas Keller restaurant.

Yelp
Thomas Keller dominates this street! We dropped by to try the double wagyu beef cheeseburger and fried chicken sandwich. Cheeseburger was definitely better, but the fried chicken sandwich was not behind. Great option in the Yountville area. Prob wouldn't go out of my way to stop here, but good option if you're in the area!

Yelp
When Thomas Keller group does something, it's special and different. It exists here and begins with the service. Yes, you order and pick up of the counter and that drops your possible points on the Phil Scale by 1(sorry) However. Folks working here are trained adults. They watch, they adapt. The taste: When doing a burger joint, you first need to dive into your memory banks for what you found memorable. Here are mine: Is the burger seared at high temp? Yes Is the bun fresh soft and not huge? Yes Thousand Island Dressing? Yes Pickle for balance? Duh Stacked with appropriate greens? Yes Properly proportioned? yes. The Kobe beef, and buttered bun were a bit over the top in a good way. The restaurant is a pop up in an empty storefront. Nice reuse.

Yelp
I'll round up to 4, but this was a 3.5. We arrived around noon on a Saturday and the line was already wrapped around outside. An employee was handing out menus and said it was about a 20 minute wait from our spot. Another employee was handing out some water while we waited. Nice touch. The line moved quickly. Ordering was easy. Then they give you a pager which will go off when your order is ready for pickup. There were plenty of seating options, both indoor and outdoor. We opted for outdoor since the weather was nice. The double cheeseburger was just ok. The lobster roll had me looking for more lobster. Fries were crispy. Not sure if they had other condiments like ranch or aioli available, just the standard ketchup and mustard. The ice cream sandwiches were a nice finish and probably my favorite part of the meal. I was hopeful there'd be something that would have made the food more memorable. Simply paying for the location, experience and name. Not sure I'd like to spend that much on burgers and fries, but I'm still glad we tried it.

Yelp
Meh. When the name Thomas Keller is attached to something I think it better be the best damn food I've had. Unfortunately this was not it for me. I came with a coworker for lunch one day. The service was quick and the people working were great. The food is where I was disappointed. I read what came on the burger carefully as there are some things that aren't for me on burger. The sauce had some sort of Dijon or horseradish which I'm very sensitive to. I love a fried chicken sandwich and have had my fair share. The one served here was ok. Nothing special.

Yelp
Wagyu burgers by Thomas Keller? We definitely put this one on our list and were finally able to stop by today for lunch. No line when we arrived and we were greeted with a smile. (I kept an eye on the line while we were eating to see if it would ever get busy, and the line was never more than 3 parties-- on a Sunday afternoon) We got lucky with a gorgeous 72 degrees, so we ate on a high top outside. It's such a relaxed and beautiful setting in Yountville--we really enjoyed the ambiance. My husband and I ordered the Wagyu Cheeseburgers (his was a double), fries to share, an ice cream sandwich and a shake and it did not disappoint!!! The patty was so juicy! And the fries were great-- not oily at all. The ice cream sandwich was AMAZING. Definitely going to try and go back before the pop-up is over!

Yelp
Sadly, nothing to write home about here. Sure, it's an incredible deal considering you get a wagyu burger for a more than reasonable price point in Napa... but the burger was just nothing special. It's a decent burger with a unique logo on top, but nothing was special about the flavor. Honestly, I wouldn't have even known it was a wagyu patty when consumed all together. It was very juicy, likely due to the marbling/fat content of the protein. For me, it was just another burger. I wish it was more, but sadly not. We also got the ice cream sandwich. It was good, but again, nothing mind-blowing.
google avatar

Sabrina A.

Yelp
Decided to go here for lunch. As we arrive and walked up to order our food I noticed a beautiful outdoor patio with lots of seating. You have to order at the counter as there is no one to take your order. I had the burger and fries comb. Burger was nice and juicy, fries nothing special to them. Definitely go try the burger and I will definitely try Something else on their menu.

Yelp
Seeing that I could give Thomas Keller's burger a try for less than $20, I had to swing by. I arrived around 6pm on a Thursday, and the place was packed - the outside patio was completely filled, but we discovered that were was actually lots of seating inside and another smaller patio out back that was basically empty. The main patio is definitely where all the activity is though, and is super cute. Unfortunately, the food was a miss for me. The burger was fine, and not necessarily dry, but the patty tasted mostly like smoke and char, and everything else was covered up by the sharpness of the cheese. We also got an ice cream sandwich, which was also just okay. Overall, the food is okay, but I was expecting something special from a Thomas Keller joint. I did try my friend's chicken sandwich, which was super juicy and much better than the burger in my opinion, so if you're going to come to try Burgers and Half Bottles out, I definitely recommend getting the chicken instead.

Yelp
Very short line just after they opened at noon on a warm Saturday. We ordered at the counter, grabbed a table out front. Saw there were tons of tables inside (the restaurant goes pretty deep) and more tables out back past the bathrooms. Didn't wait long before our food was ready. Double Wagyu cheeseburger $20 - super juicy and satisfying despite its smaller size (probably just a reasonable human portion). The aged cheddar was the star in my pov which isn't a bad thing. But if you're looking for super beefy Wagyu flavor it might be overpowering. I'd get it again but wouldn't travel or go out of my way for it. Surf & turf fried chicken x lobster salad sandwich $25 - lobster salad didn't do anything for me actually it was pretty heavy on the mayo which I didn't enjoy. Would opt for the fried chicken sandwich on its own next time ($14). Also tried the fries ($6) - they're not crinkle anymore but looked good. Ours were not crisp unfortunately which is surprising.. they had just opened! Bummer.

Yelp
Was excited to try the burgers here especially since I spent the weekend at the Estate Yountville and given it's short pop up window, literally walking distance. Plenty of seating indoors and outdoors and easy ordering with a simple menu. Opted for the $22 wagyu cheeseburger combo that comes with fries and a drink, got the Russian River Brewing Company draft root beer. Pick up is in the middle of the restaurant after your pager goes off. The burger itself left a lot to be desired, when you hear wagyu you think tender, fatty and unctious. The burger was anything but, tbh it was tough even. The bun was fluffy and had a good chew, but found the burger to be room temp and dry. Fresh tomato and lettuce. The dry aged cheddar was melted, but not melty - if you get what I mean. They seem to churn burgers out and keep them under lamps at the pass. Fries were good, but nothing worth noting. Did happen to see Keller while dining in which was a pleasant surprise. Service was friendly and was even checked up on. We were asked about our food, I'm guessing the GM and even recommended the chicken sandwich over the lobster roll. Saying it's better than the one at Ad Hoc! Noted! Would I return for their next pop up? Probably not, but def a great casual spot for a quick eat if you happen to be in the area during the pop up.

Yelp
I saw this on TikTok and decided to give it a try. I knew it would be good nothing in yountsville is bad. This place is busy especially on weekends. We ordered and got a buzzer. The chicken sandwich was perfect! Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I took my son and he absolutely loved it. The ice cream sandwich is literally the best I've ever had in my life! Hard to explain but a definite must. You have to try this place at least once!

Yelp
I've been reading about Thomas Keller's new burger spot so had to try it out after a wine tasting. We came at 1pm and there was a short line but it moved quickly. After you order at the counter, you seat yourself. There's a small van on the patio area that serves beer on tap but you order the beer at the counter and go to the van to get it. The cheese burger was good, but didn't blow me away. It came with aged white cheddar, lettuce, tomato, red onions, pickles, and a sauce. Nothing revolutionary but it was a good burger and I enjoyed it. I liked the freshness from all the veggies. The fries were really good. They were nice and crispy, a better version of McDonald fries.

Yelp
Just another review saying "Wow! Thomas Keller really created a great burger joint!" The wagyu burgers don't have (or need) much seasoning since it's such great quality meat. The classic grilled cheese was decadent comfort food. Fries were crispy and delish. We enjoyed pints of beer poured from the tap on the side of the bus (gimmicky but pretty cool). Staff were pro and friendly. After ordering at the counter, it felt kinda stressful landing a table to sit by the time our food was ready. Luckily it worked out and we shared the end of a communal table. By the time we finished eating, they'd opened up a back room with plenty of additional tables. The atmosphere is upscale casual with a beautiful red touches and cool details.

Yelp
Excited to check out a Thomas Keller joint & the write up in various media may have hyped it more than expected. Made the drive from the South Bay and was happy to see there was no line on a Saturday mid afternoon so was able to order quickly and the wait in line was just as fast as getting everything ready to pick up. Started out with a Pliny the Elder which was included in the burger meal deal and is poured in the beautiful courtyard area. While having a couple of sips inside the dining area & watching college football on various TV's available the order was ready for pick up. Cheesburger- well seasoned and cooked medium rare but the cheese was little overpowering so it was still a good burger but definitely on the smaller side. Chicken Sandwich- crunchy but not greasy and paired well with their in house mayo. Had to have this in addition to the cheesburger due to the size mentioned earlier. Both were presented on a nice brioche bun which held up for each one. Overall, service and atmosphere were great and its more of place to check out if you are in the area but no need for a special trip.

Yelp
I'm usually the first to be a skeptic at a pretentious burger! But Keller knocks it out of the park with Burgers and half bottles! At $22 for a combo that comes with a waygu beef burger, fries and your choice of drink including the choice of a 16 oz Russian River brewing company draft beer of your choice the quality and value here is INCREDIBLE... We ordered the meal deal and my wife had a draft ipa, we shared the fries and I had a double cheeseburger and a vanilla shake! Every was fantastic! We sat on the patio, and they had golf on the TV. The manager was running the beer station and I asked if he could put the giants baseball game on and he made it happen without skipping a beat! I also asked him how they kept the beer cold in the beer bus set up and he was kind enough to give me a thorough explanation and show me the entire set up!!! I also forgot to mention we arrived here at 3:30pm on a Saturday afternoon and there was zero wait! To say I was impressed would be an understatement! Great Burger! And great vibes! Highly recommend

Yelp
I'm a big fan of Thomas Keller restaurants and had to drive up from the Bay Area to try it. A good sized line before opening. But one of the workers reassured us the line would flow quickly after opening and they were right. Order first at the counter and then go find a table inside or outside -- pretty big space. We wanted to try the burger and the lobster so opted for the burger and fries meal and the lobster roll. Great crunchy crinkle fries. Burger was nice with the Bouchon bun -- like going to a nicer fast food restaurant. The lobster roll was disappointing to us -- made us think of tuna because of the consistency of the lobster (no chunks) and it was very small. What really saved the meal was the ice cream sandwich. Omg. The salted chocolate cookie around the ice cream was the BEST. Order it when you order your meal but you can pick it up when you are ready to eat it. So overall 3.5 stars. After this 10 week pop up, they will evaluate next steps. It's got a lot potential and nice to have a more casual place for dining, but I think I need a tastier burger and chunks in my lobster roll.
google avatar

Kristine M.

Yelp
I had to stop by before the pop up was over! my husband ordered the wagyu cheeseburger and I got the lobster roll. The lobster roll is small compared to other rolls I have had in the past. The lobster meat was good but I think it had just too much sauce on it. My husband said his burger was ok. My toddler loved the fries of course. The ambiance was casual. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The service was friendly and efficient.
google avatar

Shannon M.

Yelp
Double cheeseburgers were mouth watering. Has a secret sauce that was very good. Fries were good but the burger made the meal. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Indoor and outdoor seating options. Wine and beer options as well as Coke products. It is in a great area. We heard it was only open seasonally. Ambiance was casual dining.

Yelp
Casual spot for lunch. We waited in line for about 20 minutes, and I appreciated that they served ice-cold water while we waited. Even though this is mainly a burger spot, we actually enjoyed the fried chicken sandwich more than the dry-aged cheddar cheeseburger. The wagyu patty had a strange, almost gritty texture that wasn't my favorite. On the other hand, the fried chicken sandwich was juicy, and the sauce with the pickle paired perfectly, you could really taste the quality. You order at the counter and find your own table. The patio had a cool retro van where they serve draft beers, and it's also dog-friendly. Overall, I'd come back for the fried chicken sandwich if I'm ever in the area.

Yelp
Fun place for a delicious burger with the pup (they have cute outdoor seating with an awesome beer vending VW Van!) and save room for the " It's Ours" (lol fun take on the San Francisco IT'S-IT ) buttery chocolate cookies with vanilla bean frozen custard dipped in dark chocolate and dusted with a light sprinkle of flaked sea salt -delicious!!
google avatar

Yelp
What a fun and happy experience! The staff here genuinely seem like they enjoy being part of this pop-up, and everyone is friendly, helpful, and the food is absolutely delicious. Each burger has just the perfect proportion of fat and salt, and the crispy veggies pair so perfectly with the toasted bun and burger patty. The fries are amazing. The dessert ice cream sandwiches are such a great way to end your meal. The selection of beers and wine make your meal complete and have plenty of options if you want to have a lovely happy hour for your group. Breezy al-fresco seating outdoors with plenty of tables and chairs for small groups and families. We enjoyed it so much we thought about coming back the next day! An absolute must-visit if you're in the Napa/Yountville area.

Yelp
I can understand the hype, of course a Thomas Keller restaurant at a reasonable price, I guess we have to run. Was everything good yeah you form a line you order at the counter you go take a seat and the car number out and you go pick it up. They have burgers and they have lobster rolls and they have chicken sandwiches. I have to save the favorite. There was the chicken sandwich. It's simple and I know he has his fried restaurant so it was fun to try. I have to agree, which I didn't really want to since I really like cheese. Yes, the cheese is very overpowering. Other than that. Everything else was delicious. I'm actually not sure if the beef is fresh, or frozen and I wouldn't be surprised of either so I wasn't too big of a fan of the burger. The drink drinks are good. I really like the little bus that was made into a bar and added a great touch. I would recommend to go but a one and done and I saw that they extended their time there until December.

Yelp
Waited in line for about 15 min around 2:45pm. The line moved pretty quickly and they brought out waters for us to drink (it was 98° out)! We ordered a relatively cheap meal ($22 for a combo cheese burger). I got a double cheese burger wrapped in lettuce. Once you place your order you get a buzzer and look for an open spot. The bussers worked efficiently at making sure there was a clean, open table once the previous party left. The food came out quickly. The wagyu was salty to my liking, as was the cheese. One of our party members didn't not like it because it was too salty but most of us really enjoyed this quick meal after a day of wine tasting. I would definitely come back here! They had lobster rolls and fried chicken sandwiches! The cashier hinted at potentially have vegan patties and gluten free buns in the near future!

Yelp
Swing and a miss! The burger was dry, the cheese wasn't melted, and the veggies made the bread so soggy it was hard to hold. The chicken sandwich was really delicious tho. I would've gotten two if I knew how good it was. Be sure to get extra aioli on the side and extra crispy fries if you're into that. The line went by fast especially for a Saturday afternoon but parking is pretty hard. There are bathrooms. Would recommend washing your hands cause it can get messy.

Yelp
We have visited this Thomas Keller pop up twice in the past couple of weeks. Both visits for lunch on Saturday and we arrived 30 minutes before opening both times. The staff came out with ice water and printed menus both days. On our first visit there was an issue with the fan in the kitchen that caused some smoke issues, bringing the local FD out. It delayed opening a short time and the repairs to the fan meant no burgers for an hour or so. No worries, we decided on fried chicken sandwiches instead, with crinkle cut fries, cold beer and the 'It's Ours' ice cream sandwiches for dessert. The fried chicken sandwich was the best I've had. Perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy inside, house made buns and spicy mayo (if you don't want a spicy sandwich, just skip the mayo). My husband got the surf and turf version, with a small scoop of lobster salad on top, which he said was good. The crinkle cut fries were hot and perfectly salted and all the food went well with an ice cold Russian River Brewing draft beer, served from a converted VW Bus. The ice cream sandwiches were perfection. They're made with TKO 'Thomas Keller Oreo' cookies, house made vanilla bean ice cream, that is dipped in dark chocolate and sprinkles with flaky salt. We did see the lobster salad sandwich. It is very small. Maybe 3 good bites. While we were told it was good, my husband was glad he didn't get it. Our next visit (yes, we went back to try the burger) we had cheese burgers, a double for my husband, shoestring fries, draft beer and more ice cream sandwiches. The burgers were very good, of a bit messy. My husband said he'd stick with a single next time, as the patty was a decent size. The fries were delicious, though we had hoped they would still be the crinkle cut version. Everything was really yummy. There is patio and inside seating. The staff is friendly and attentive. We saw the manager both visits. He was kept an eye on the everything and mad sure all the customers were happy. I'd love to see this pop up become a regular restaurant. The food is delicious, service and atmosphere great. Someplace we'd love to come back to, when in the Napa Valley.

Yelp
1st time to the burgers and half bottles popup in downtown yountville food were definitely small portions! service good nonetheless ambiance was a sit down burger joint with self seating!

Yelp
Made the trek up to TK's pop up from the bay over Labor Day weekend. Line was long but moved fairly quickly (30ish mins). We had a group of 6 and ordered various things. My husband and I shared the cheeseburger, grilled cheese, and fries. The grilled cheese was tasty, but very messy and a little over cheesy with sauce. The grilled cheese was pretty boring. I also had a frose which I enjoyed on the 100 degree day. Glad we got to try it but I wouldn't say it's necessarily a must.

Yelp
There's a lot of excitement created around this new pop-up and it's well deserved. I got the double cheese Wagyu and the wife got the chicken sandwich and lobster aka the surfnturf. The burger was perfectly done, but they use iceberg lettuce and a tomato, but with zesty homestyle pickles. Unfortunately, our fries were overcooked and they're just your typical cheap prefrozen crinkle cuts so nothing special there. Definitely not worth $6 (minus one star). You can grab a fresh draft beer out of the side of an old 1960s VW bus or pick up one of numerous half bottles of wine. Since this is mostly outdoor seating, you will certainly be visited by a couple of flies (no whirly gigs available). You'll find a very lively atmosphere with great music playing overhead. The primary success story here is the Wagyu burger, but they do some other things right and the beer is good. $22 for a combo aint bad ($6 more for a beer). I would definitely come back for another burger. Enjoy this while you got it because it ain't gonna be around forever. Check out the informative photos.

Yelp
2nd time here and wonderful experience. Great service. The chicken sandwich was amazing MUST a order and the it's OURS dessert was so light and refreshing. Thank you JASON (manager) for the incredible service. You are wonderful!

Yelp
Not sure why all the mid an negative reviews... our party had a great experience! There was definitely a long line, but the line moves quickly and there are plenty of seats available even on a busy Sunday afternoon. All employees were super friendly and helpful. Our party stuck with burgers and the chicken sandwiches. Maybe my view is skewed, but I found the portions and prices quite reasonable. Burgers were ample and had a delicious flavor, the chicken sandwich was towering and super crispy. Side note our party loved that the slaw on the chicken sandwich was not a massive mayo mess. I typically do not care for crinkle cut fries but these were super crispy on the outside and pillowy on the inside. It was a hot day, so we also got the ice cream sandwich. I loved that it was not super crazy sweet and you could see the vanilla beans in the ice cream.

Yelp
TK does it again. Yes the burger is fantastic and perfectly prepared. The burger is seasoned and juicy. What makes this burger pop up stand out is the employees. The staff are friendly, efficient and professional. Let's not get it twisted TK is a mastermind of great dining concepts although his staff are what makes everything work.

Yelp
It was just okay, the cheese was extremely overpowering in the cheeseburger and the fries were just alright. The fries definitely tasted like they were only fried once heavily and not double fried to not give it that overly crispy/soggy texture that only happens with frying fresh fries once. The lobster roll felt like a complete rip off since it was $29 for a tiny roll, I'll drive the extra hour to Bodega Bay for a roll. And for burgers, I'd rather go to Gotts ‍ The only saving grace was the Chicken Sandwich, light breading, crisp, and the slaw was great.

Yelp
Cheeseburger tasted great fries were just right . I had a beer poured from the VW bus . It tasted great and I loved the concept with beers from the VW. Manager checked on us a few time not only checking on our food but asked if we had any suggestions .

Yelp
Had the chicken sandwich, which was delicious.. esp the bread and the toppings. Fries are decent but not the point. I got the lobster roll without bread, paid full price. It'd be nice if there was an side/a la carte option. The taste was excellent, though it was more shredded than diced.. which makes sense since it's an "and turf" upgrade available on the sandwiches. Excellent service, ordering experience, and food delivery. Visited on a busy Sunday afternoon but the vibe was fun.

Yelp
Great spot! Burgers were vèry solid and hearty without being too heavy. The fries were great. We also were really pleasantly surprised by the lobster roll. Star of the show in my opinion, though it was small but reasonable for the price. The batter on the chicken was a little off. I think it was too dense and underseasoned. Great beers and fun that they pour them from their airstream outside. We also loved the ice cream sandwich and strawberry shake. Glad we stopped by before it disappears!

Yelp
1st in line today. A great TK experience in service, even at the simplest level. The venue is very fitting of casual dining, while able to serve families is a much needed option in that area. The burgers and fries are good and the chicken sammie was great. One item I would change would be the "surf & turf" option. Rather them being in a sammie together, make it a 50/50 salad option. That's kinda how it reads from the menu. Having lobster in the fried chix sammie, you lose the flavor of the lobster ‍. Although good. A salad could "improve" it! Otherwise, the experience is worth the time going & waiting. Will visit again! Thank you!!!

Yelp
The burgers lived up to the hype. Service was prompt, attentive and friendly. On top of the burger, tried the surf and turf chicken sandwich and the ice cream sandwich. Glad they extended the Pop up until December. Get it while you can!

Yelp
i visited Burgers and Half Bottles in Yountville, a pop up launched by Thomas Keller, on a Saturday evening. The queue was non-existent and we were able to finding parking nearby very quickly. The servers were all super friendly and it felt like a very polished burger spot (for example, they had nice napkins, eco friendly ketchup cups, very nice ketchup and mustard dispensers, the place was kept pretty clean, etc.). There was plenty of seating in the shade if you chose to sit outside and inside. Unsurprisingly, the user experience aspect was perfect. They also gave away stickers to commemorate the pop up!! We went with the surf 'n' turf (fried chicken version and wagyu version), fries, spicy buttermilk fried chicken sandwich, a strawberry milkshake, and "it's ours" ice cream sandwich. I thought the price of the burgers were actually pretty reasonable ($25 for the surf 'n' turf and $14 for a normal burger). I enjoyed the presentation of the burger with their snazzy "B" stamped on top. For the burgers, there were aspects we liked and disliked. I enjoyed the fluffy buns and I thought the hamburger actually held together pretty well as I was biting through it. The fried chicken was really good - crispy exterior with a juicy interior, and well seasoned. The wagyu meat was also delicious. For the wagyu surf 'n' turf, it felt like the ratio of lobster salad to wagyu could've been better. Either that or the meat was overpowering the lobster salad. The lobster salad part was also a little too salty. The fries were your standard fries, but also a little too salty. I am a little sad they were not crinkle-cut (though they did cover up the crinkle cut part on the menu in person). The strawberry milkshake tasted like a standard strawberry milkshake - very well blended. And then finally, I thoroughly enjoyed finishing my meal with the ice cream sandwich with the thin TKO cookie sandwiching the delicious ice cream. The chocolate shield coating half the sandwich perfectly protected the ice cream from dripping as you savored the experience of eating it. I would return if I were around Yountville and looking for a nice sit down spot to enjoy a burger or something to eat without necessarily breaking the bank and I think it was a fun addition to this region. I'm not sure I would order the surf-n-turf again, but would probably go with their normal burgers next time.

Yelp
Burgers And Half Bottles is the latest venture from French Laundry Chef Thomas Keller. We had to give it a try to see what the hype was about. Low 3.5 stars on Yelp. They serve burgers, lobster roll, fried chicken sandwiches along with lots of beer and wine. Safety Pluses - Online menu, Delivery services available, online ordering. Food Review: Grilled American Wagyu Beef cheeseburger Aged White Cheddar Cheese ($15 ) definitely is fancy. Really nice meat patty and brioche bun. Not overly big but it hits the spot. 9/10 Overall - Very Good Food - Very Good Decor - Very Good Service - Good Value - Good Would we come back - Maybe

Yelp
Great fresh food, service fast and asked several times if we enjoyed our meal and if we needed anything more, the location is excellent, outdoor and indoor seating, lots of sports on the TV...you won't be disappointed! Great must stop!!!

Yelp
Superb service, substandard food. Trying to justify the 3 star when having a great beer, Pliny the Elder on tap. I just don't get it. My surf and turf burger which had lobster salad that stood on top of a thin beef patty missed big time. Asked for medium rare burger and got well done almost dehydrated. Overall no real lobster salad flavor most likely due to proportion rather than ratio. The burger to salad were both very small in comparison to the overwhelming dry bun. I wanted to have a real taste of lobster and beef but found my moisture sickened mouth pining for another drink of the very lovely pint of Russian river brew. Fries were as if they had been under the heat lamp left behind for hours only to be served as to not waste already cooked abandoned food. This place is a joke and if TK knew what you served to patrons with his name on it he would take a flame thrower to it

Yelp
I wish I could give this place five stars solely for the customer service, but my burger coming out this raw makes that difficult. We did order close to closing, to which I clearly communicated that we didn't mind going elsewhere because of that. We were met with really kind staff who assured us making us a to-go order was not a problem to which we really appreciated.

Yelp
I went here this past Saturday and there was already a line before the restaurant even opened. Unfortunately, they were not serving burgers in the beginning part of the day. Even with being in life, they had staff members handing out water before they opened. The Manager was also informing us that their hood vent was not working and therefore could not make any burgers. He said it might be an hour because they have a replacement coming. He shared that he would get burger orders from tables when the replacement was in so we didn't have to go back into the line. The only options were the fried chicken sandwich and the lobster roll. My husband and I decided to stay just for that. I was really appreciative of the transparency of what was going on and the service they provided. My husband and I loved the food. The lobster roll was tiny, but absolutely worth it. I never had a lobster roll taste that good. I usually order crab sandwiches because sometimes lobster rolls are a hit or miss. The fries were nicely salted and the fried chicken sandwich was flavorful. We decided to leave and not wait for the burgers because we knew that other people wanted to sit. Overall, I would definitely come back. Plus! I have to come back for the burgers. If the lobster roll and the fried chicken sandwich is a testament to what they serve here, then I'm hoping the burger is also amazing!

Yelp
This is a Thomas Keller 10 weeks burger pop up. A must try if you are a fan of his. Browsing the menu, the fare appears reasonably priced. My ambitious eyes ordered the combination burger and lobster roll, ice cream sandwich and root beer. When picking up my order, there appears to be a mix up with my order ie my burger had a lobster topping rather than a separate lobster roll and hamburger. In the case of misunderstanding, the kitchen made a lobster roll and another hamburger and delivered the originally made burger. Eating the made up burger, I found it to be overcooked and dry, a pretty well done burger. I really appreciate the service and willingness to do right for my order. But I'm disappointed at the well done burger. The lobster roll was very good and more would be nice. Going back to the bar for the ice cream sandwich. The purposely kept to prevent it from melting while having my burger and roll. Very thoughtful and attention to detail. I can't speak enough of the service. That itself, made the visit a worthwhile experience. The ice cream reminded me of an Oreo where there's vanilla ice cream middle sandwich between two chocolate like cookie with a half covered with chocolate. It's definitely different and enjoyable. My two dining mates enjoyed a bite of this ice cream. Overall, I'm glad I had the lobster roll that proved to be the hit of my meal along with the ice cream sandwich. The local craft root beer was tasty.

Yelp
Tired the fried chicken sandwich and a cheese burger. They both were very good. The bun was so soft and the burger was very juicy. I loved the spread they put on it. The friend chicken was as delicious. It was nice and crispy. The fries were also very crispy and perfectly seasoned. It's worth a try if you are looking for a quick and easy lunch/dinner place. The frozé was also delicious if you're looking for a non traditional drink.

Yelp
We were blown away by our experience today here. First, the ambiance is great with a cute VW bus that pours beers, tvs to watch football, and great landscaping. Second, the food was excellent - we loved the cheeseburger and the fried chicken sandwich. The best part, though, was the service. Jessica made our whole day with how she went out of her way to make our experience special. Thank you very much for a perfect lunch!

Yelp
Definitely mid as the kids would say. We gave this place a shot in early August, maybe in the first week of its opening? and I guess to be fair they were probably still trying to figure things out, but the experience as a whole was pretty underwhelming. We got 1 burger, 1 lobster roll, 1 beer, 1 soda, and fries for around $80 or so after tip which felt steep for the experience. I guess I did expect it to be pretty flawless if Thomas Keller is attached to it, but this was definitely not the case. We were in line at opening and with about 20-25 or so people ahead of us, it took almost 30 min to reach the counter to order. The free for all table seating was not great as folks from farther back in the line were going into the patio and claiming seating long before they even ordered. I ordered a beer at the counter and was given a glass and told to go to the van but when I got out there, they were having issues with the beer lines and I wasn't able to even get the beer I wanted. Had I known the beer was unavailable when ordering I would have just passed completely but didn't want to deal with trying to go back to the counter for a refund. The food was ready fairly quickly. The fries were great, the burger was decent though honestly not incredible, but the lobster roll was such a massive disappointment. For $30 you expect a hearty sized sandwich but it was maybe twice the size of a twinkie and there was so much dressing mixed in that you really couldn't even distinguish the lobster. I'd rate the fries a 4 star, burger a solid 3, and the lobster roll a hard 1 star. DO NOT ORDER THE LOBSTER ROLL!!! Not a Keller hater at all, we had a wonderful brunch the next day at Bouchon but I doubt I would bother trying this burger pop up again unless it became a permanent fixture and was obvious they had made some changes to both the service and food.

Yelp
ITS ALL ' BOUT THE RATIO!!! Bummer. No one, ever, anywhere in the world should be served a burger with the meat to bun ratio a single burger provides at TKs Pop Up joint. Just wrong. Not a quality issue. The bun was delicious.....of course with Bouchon next door. The meat ......frickin' delicious. Juicy. Lovely. BUT.....The ratio on a single is WAY OFF. Not a service issue. Sorta. Very friendly & efficient. BUT ......when a 6'2" 215 lbs dude walks in with his 6'3" 280lbs dad.....suggest the frickin' double. I woulda said yes in a heartbeat based on the experts recommendation. I assumed a Chef of the caliber of TK would never let a bun to meat ratio like that to be served in his restaurant & wanted to try it as TK set it up. Bad choice on my part. The baguette & TK Oreo we got awards at Bouchon were perfect! Hey.....staying on topic, what about a double stuffed TKO just for funsies!!!
