How the Rise of the Starbucks Unions Could Be Groundbreaking for the Food Industry | Eater

"An Oregon burger chain ratified the first union contract in the fast-food industry in December 2021, serving as an early example that collective bargaining can succeed in quick-service settings and helping to inspire similar efforts across the sector." - Amy McCarthy

the crowds went from massive down to miniscule over there at the NEW Burgerville restaurant where the Del Taco used to be.. we finally decided to give it a try today.. I'm weird, I'll admit openly that Cheeseburgers are my favorite food.. I love them! I decided to start with the basics, Northwest Cheeseburger and fries. Did I say basic? There wasn't anything distinct with the burger.. it was good, but I was in the hospital last February and I feel like St. Charles here in Bend had them BEAT! I'm certain that we'll dine with Burgerville again at some point.. but I would keep searching if you're planning to find the best burger in town..

Google
First time there. Staff was so great to help answer all of the questions we had about the menu and the process. Food came out hot and delicious. the Walla Walla onion rings were outstanding. We'll be back!!

Google
We ordered the bacon sliders and the backyard burger. They messed up our order. (Which was expected). “Quarter pounder” patty was TINY. We spent $39.00 for some mid food. They need to work on efficiency. If people are spending this much the order should be correct. Only positive thing is that the people were so kind.

Google
I don’t do reviews ever but the burger was tiny, had little taste and I think a high school cafeteria could do better. I would rather go somewhere where their sauce doesn’t look radioactive. I will let the photos do the talking but $10 for two of these burgers is discraceful

This place is fire. Don’t let the haters deter you. The burgers are cooked so perfectly medium rare juicy. The pretzel slider pub cheese was a special hit because they use 10 barrel local beer cheese. Burgerville just rocks, the local flare on fast food with locally sourced ingredients. Everything from the Oregon strawberry milkshake to the 10 barrel, beer, cheese, pub sliders… They even donated a big portion of the specialty item to our local food nonprofit the Giving Plate. A place like just this is just so much better than your typical fast food burger joint. We had a phenomenal experience. There is a bit of a line if you wanna wait in the drive-through. We opted to park and come inside and it took us 15 minutes from walking in the door to having our food served. Overall, I am going to be looking to visit this place during non-peak hours any chance I get! Thank you to the Burgerville team for all your efforts in bringing this awesome option to us Bendites!

Google
First off, the service, they anticipated a large crowd will flock and didn’t have a system in place, I recommend for the company to learn JIT system or better yet learn from In and Out or Chick Fil A, They manage a crowd five times what you have today, today was chaos, they didn’t know what is going on, few staff are walking around calling orders from low numbers to high numbers, no way to know when will we get our orders, we waited over an hour for our food! Everyone was scrambling looking for Orders, The food quality is ok, nothing extra ordinary or special, save yoirself some $$ and go elsewhere, put it this way, Burger King is better thantheirs,oh boy, the price is crazy expensive, they even charge for sauces. Enough for me to try but they are too expensive for a fast food burger. I’m staying with Bend Burger and Americana,Goodluck Burgerville!

Google
Burger: 8/10 Fries:8/10 The line here was pretty long but they are very quick service, super friendly staff, decent burger and the fries tasted like real potatoes. I will visit this place more often as it’s a great place to eat. They are priced accordingly to other burger spots around town (that doesn’t make the prices good)

Google
My girlfriend and I decided to see what all the hype was about, but needless to say, we won’t be returning. We spent 20 minutes waiting in line for food that offered nothing special in terms of quality—something we could’ve found just about anywhere. For a total of $41, we received two large meals consisting only of burgers, fries, and milkshakes. The burgers appeared to be hastily thrown together in under a minute, and the ingredients were mediocre at best. Overall, it was a disappointing experience that didn’t live up to the hype or the price. Not to mention… the sizes are diabolically small.

Yelp
My husband went to Burgerville today, but he said his burger was dry and overcooked. He still believes that Bend Burger is better. So take this tip from him--don't overcook your burgers -CG

Yelp
My husband and I love Burgerville in Bend! As huge burger fans who've tried almost every burger spot in town, we've been here 4-5 times including a few breakfast runs since opening and keep coming back for more! * Exceptional Service: Staff is super friendly, helpful, and goes above and beyond every time. Even a Pup cup for the doggo! * Order Accuracy: Burgers with no sauces done perfect every time * Northwest Burger: Incredible flavor, super fresh lettuce, tomato, and top-notch ingredients. * Local & Organic: Love the locally sourced, quality ingredients; my husband met ranchers at opening, they were so nice. Support our local farmers! It's so important & feels so good to do. * Organic Chocolate Ice Cream Shake: A fast-food gem, absolutely delicious! * Feel-Good Food: The best fast food, leaves you feeling great Vs other places in town that are so greasy or use seed oils. * Rewards & App: Awesome points program, great local offers, and user-friendly app Burgerville is our new go-to burger spot in Bend. We waited so many years for it to come & now it's here we can't get, or recommend it enough!

Yelp
Had my first experience at Burgerville, Two hamburgers , medium fry, 1 onion ring, large drink, small chocolate shake..... $50.00 Absolutely ridiculous, five guys blows it away. I could've went to red Robin and got two meals with probably a beer and a beverage for less than that, in the burgers are better at red Robin. Here's a thing I am not cheap at all, but it took everything in me not to stop at the Window and keep driving, but my curiosity made me stop and give them a $50 bill, I got home and ate it and said "what a waste of money". I've lived in Bend for 12 years. It's the most overpriced, crappy food of a town I've ever lived in.

Yelp
A friend and I recently checked out the newly opened Burgerville in Bend. It's still a bit chaotic, but I'm confident they'll smooth things out with time. The burger was better than expected. My friend agreed. They were tasty and satisfying, though not quite a "destination" burger. I had the Cowboy sliders. The standout was definitely the onion rings. They were huge, crunchy, and full of flavor. Easily the best part of my meal. The strawberries at the bottom made it a challenge to drink. The strawberry shake had thick blobs floating around like a poorly executed boba tea. I ended up binning most of these. The restaurant, both inside and out, was very clean. While the staff seemed overwhelmed and a few mistakes were made, everyone was friendly and clearly trying their best. Even with the frenetic busy environment, we had a table before our food came out. We sat outside. New places take time to settle in, and they're clearly handling a rush. I'll go back, but I'll probably give them a few weeks to find their rhythm.

Yelp
I found some coupons online for the soft opening on Saturday. I was expecting a zoo, but my wife said they seemed pretty organized when she went to pick up lunch during our assigned window. She said the food came out pretty quickly and when we looked through everything, the order was prepared correctly. We ordered 4 meals with different entrees, drinks, shakes, etc. The burger was just ok. I upgraded mine to a 1/2 lb patty. It looks like they just stick two 1/4 lb patties together on the griddle. Mine was cooked to medium, although I didn't request it like that lol! Fries were decent, no better/worse than most fast-food fries. Everybody agreed it was just kinda ok. The fries, fried pickles, and shakes seemed to be the highlights - not good if you're a burger spot lol. The real surprise is when they gave my wife the receipt. I purchased 4 meal coupons at $5/each and my wife paid another $4 at the restaurant, so we were in for $24. The receipt included the amount of the original prices. Those 4 meals would have run us $93!!! We upgraded most burgers to 1/2 lb and multiple drinks to milkshakes, but still - $93 is way too much to spend on a fast-food burger lunch. I may give it another shot down the road once they've been open for a bit

Yelp
Pretty good food, better than other fast food. Loved that there were real strawberry chunks in the Strawberry Milkshake.

Yelp
I have been loving Burgerville since they opened the walk up in Vancouver Wa when I was a kid in the early 1970s. Then we got one in Camas in early 80s So understand I am a big fan of the food. Now living in Central Oregon for years I was excited we would finally get a store here. So sad when visiting the Bend store and realizing the prices are so much higher than all other locations. Not a small price difference but outrageous compared to even the gorge stores Sad sad sad please don't rip us off because you think you're the only store around 40 percent higher than other stores in the NW you should be ashamed. Please get your prices in line with the North West and stop trying to rip off the good people of Central Oregon.

Yelp
Awful McDonalds is better than this crap. Order raspberry Italian soda and it came with root beer instead of soda water. The burger were dry and bland. Never going back. I went to the one in Portland alot across from Cleveland high school and it was great. This one is lousy.

Hallie S.

Yelp
Save your money and time! Trust me. Had to check out all the hype. Definitely not worth the 25 min wait in line. Expensive for what you get. Quality is 2/10. (That's being generous) The BV sauce is weird. Almost like an off brand of honey mustard with chunks of pickles.

Ryan M.

Yelp
Drive-thru experience is always a bit of a gamble. Tonight I ordered a hazelnut hot fudge sundae... which magically transformed into a regular sundae by the time I got home (no hazelnut--just vibes). I also ordered a large fry and some side sauces. After each item, the employee hit me with the overly enthusiastic, "Okay, what else can I get started for you?" like she was trying to set a Guinness World Record. I'm not kidding--I heard that exact phrase at least 20 more times while waiting in line. It started to feel less like a drive-thru and more like a fast food-themed improv show where every scene starts the same.

Yelp
I know this place is just getting started, but ordering through their digital screens is an absolute nightmare. Not to mention, I took two small boys to get an average size lunch, and it cost to swell over $50. You are better off either going to a nice restaurant, or saving money and just going to Burger King or McDonald's. Disappointing, being that I used to love coming here when we lived in Oregon, so brought my boys to the location for the experience. Definitely the last time we will be here. And I am not wanting to leave bad reviews, but just a terrible experience.

Yelp
My family and I are from out of town visiting for my sons soccer tournament. After a long day of soccer and family fun we decided to order in at our local Airbnb. Unfortunately, our door dash forgot a part of our order. I was able to contact the restaurant and Sarah along with the rest of her team was very accommodating. Although I had to drive out to the restaurant the team was able to provide me with a whole new meal. Truly appreciate their understanding and customer service.

Yelp
I am from out of state and had never been to a Burgerville before, and I was impressed! The service was top notch and the employees took time to explain some of the menu items like what comes on some of the burgers, and the food itself was very good. The wait was sort of long but that was to be expected for a busy Saturday night only a month after they first opened (or so the employee said).

Yelp
I don't like to review very often but between the fiance and I ordering one large burger meal with shake and pickle chips and her fish and chips was $60......!! We could have went to Olive Garden, a actual restaurant and gotten more food, better food and spent less between us. I'm not going back... Sorry burgerville. Heard a lot of good things but with that price, definitely not going anymore.

Yelp
All the hype of Burgerville coming to Bend! What a DISAPPOINTMENT. We have never been to this restaurant and decided to try it because of the praise it got. We could have gotten a better fish sandwich from a competitor for half the price. $9.99 for a sandwich with brown wilted lettuce, a thin ( and I mean thin) fish filet, and very little tarter sauce. And the fries- you advertise crispy and hot fries. Ours were limpy and lukewarm. And then there's the chocolate shake, yuck! I call the ice cream these types of shakes are made of FAKE! It wasn't cold, and didn't even taste like ice cream. We definitely will not rush back! Hey Bend why don't you bring in an "In and Out" burger joint. Oh wait, you wouldn't want them to show up your Oregonian restaurants! One star is too generous. Terrible food and high priced.

Jillian M.

Yelp
Just ok. The chocolate malt shake was all malt - we were chewing it! The sliders were cold and flavorless. The chicken strips were also tasteless. The onion rings were good. The best in the west chicken sandwich was good. The service was ok. Very attentive, but also a bit chaotic. We spent $66 on our family of 4 and were pretty disappointed. We won't be coming back to Burgerville any time soon.

Yelp
2nd time I've been here this month and both times they forgot something in my order :/ the burgers are alright....nothing special
google avatar

Monica M.

Yelp
Well, we tried Burgerville for lunch. The drive through moved pretty quickly. We ordered a #6 and the bacon cheeseburger. Quite frankly, they were pretty flavorless. The fries were OK, but lacked salt. Luckily I carry extra. The chocolate milkshakes were good. Sonic is much better...heck, McDonald's would have been better. Disappointing, considering thier prices.

Mac L.

Yelp
Food-Lame, Service-Weak, Ambiance-Plain... . 6 months!!! Just a lame 6 months is what I give this poor excuse of a burger joint to be in business in Bend Oregon... stopped in to try it out and buy a simple cheap burger and a small fry.. (late enough in the afternoon I didn't want to screw up dinner the wife was going to prepare). I was informed that it was $4.20 for a cheap no condiments other than sauce "Burger".... $4.20 that's insane !!!! A Bun, and a patty so thin you could see through it easier than Superman with X-Ray vision...Do these people not realize that at In-N-Out a Double Double Animal style.. ( Twice the Burger,, Literally!!!). Costs $5.00 if the populous of Bend is this foolish to buy this garbage, God help us all.... BurgerVille will never get my money for food that's barely, Meh!!!

Yelp
We went on the opening day for lunch:(. What a nightmare!! 1-1/2 hours to get six burgers. They had a lot of workers, but just couldn't seem to get any food. Quite a few people left with out their order. This was my first and last visit to a Burgerville. Also my buger was cold
google avatar

Dens N.

Yelp
Not worth the price. $30 for a double cheeseburger, pub beer sliders, fries and raspberry shake. Burgers were Mcdonalds quality for 2x more, fries soggy, and shake tasted like yogurt.

Joseph H.

Yelp
Other than price this place is a pretty good experience with tasty burger and fries. I had the regular basket bacon cheese burger with fries and a drink. $17.48 plus $1.20 for a side of chipotle mayo and a side of spread. Service was good and they tout that they source the majority of their ingredients locally. I don't mind paying premium for higher level "fast food," but the prices were higher than even airport fast food. Can't imagine going back. I would be pushing $80 if I brought my three kids next time. Bathrooms need a code which also struck me as odd and maybe an indication of what these places are like after the new smell wears off.

Neil R.

Yelp
Overpriced. Lack of taste. Portions are minute. $15.95 for cheeseburger, fries and drink. I have never ate such a piss-poor fast food meal. Thin bun, single end piece of tomato, thin slice of lettuce, unmelted cheese, and a microscopic piece of burger. Add French fries that weren't fully cooked. I have never left a substandard review but this place is an insult to my wallet and stomach. Save your money and go tow Carl's Jr for a good burger. This place will shut down soon - it's atrocious. Save your money!!!
google avatar

Shawn S.

Yelp
Pulled up to drive through. First time visiting ever. We ask the girl do you have a burger you like? She says she hasn't really tried the burgers. Okay maybe vegetarian. Do we get the northwest cheeseburger. Fries hot, burgers not hot. Get a strawberry milkshake. Milkshake so thick the strawberry is too soft and collapses. Wait tell we get home to get a real straw. First time visit and the last honestly. Burger not I'm even good. Places that have to put so much sauce on any burger or sandwich is hiding the fact that they don't season the meat.

Jenni E.

Yelp
Unfortunately, the breakfast biscuits are stale/ hard and I could barely eat them even with the gravy. Asked for no cheese, and got cheese. The fish and chips are the tiniest portion ever for $16. We left disappointed the two visits we went :( not worth the price

Chris T.

Yelp
I can't figure out why the owners opened such a terrible restaurant. Overpriced is one thing if the food is good but overpriced and bad makes no sense. 0 stars

Vicki B.

Yelp
Sorry Burgerville, your burger was cold, the only good part was the fresh lettuce. The onion rings are way too big, not at all good or flavorful. The order was just so so. Don't think we will be back.

Jack B.

Yelp
Food was average but for the price, it needed to be at least good. Regardless whether I have to wait 15 minutes in line and another 30 minutes for a hamburger, there are way better burgers and fries in town that cost less as well.

Rene S.

Yelp
Well, to be fair, they have only been open for a few days and are slammed. The line went pretty fast inside (long line of cars outside as well). They were trying hard. Friendly. Lots of workers in the kitchen pumping out food. Manager actively overseeing the new employees in a friendly manner. But the bottom line is, the food was sub-par. We both had the halibut sandwich, which had a small bun and a smaller piece of fish, sauce and lettuce only. The fries were not fresh out of the fryer. The milkshake, which is a specialty of Burgerville, was just so-so, although it did have fresh strawberries in it. We used to live in the Willamette Valley where BV originated, and at one time it was quite good. Now it's no better than any other fast food restaurant. We were disappointed and will stick with our favorite burger place in Bend: Bend Burger for an excellent burger.

Collin E.

Yelp
The place was still packed, and there were a ton of workers all scrambling to get peoples' food out. My food was ready in less than 10 minutes, and it was an excellent meal. The sauces they offer are so flavorful, I recommend the Garlic Aioli and the Chipotle Mayo. Rasperry Lemonade was on point too, to wash down a Bacon Cheeseburger. Expectations totally met. The fries looked questionable but totally delivered on texture and taste.

Kayla R.

Yelp
We regretted going here before we made it out of the very slow moving 30 minute drive thru line. To regular meals and a kids meal set us back $52. Thats right FIFTY TWO DOLLARS. And then they asked for a tip? From fast food. I don't care where or how it was sourced fast food should not cost $50* dollars for a family of three. Also the line was the slowest line I have ever waited in. Dont waste your money and dont go here super hungry because they take forever
