Burgerville Union Prepares to Strike Over Slow Contract Negotiations | Eater Portland

"Workers at the Hawthorne Burgerville joined the strike today in protest of the slow pace and limited concessions in bargaining with the BVWU; the union acknowledges some gains on tips and holiday pay but remains focused on securing meaningful wage increases, while Burgerville says it is negotiating in good faith and is working to meet employees’ needs." - Tim Forster

Burgerville Employees Walked Out of Restaurants Friday to Protest Bad-Faith Bargaining | Eater Portland

"At the Hawthorne location I noted that this was the first time it participated in a strike, joining two other Burgerville stores in a walkout of more than 50 employees to protest what the Burgerville Workers Union called bad-faith bargaining and a refusal to meet the wage increases the union is requesting. The store stayed open with drive-thru service for a few hours after the morning walkout before fully shutting down in the evening, and the dispute centers on canceled bargaining meetings (including one scheduled for August 7), disagreements over wage proposals, and whether the company is bargaining in good faith. While the union says tipping and other changes proposed so far don’t go far enough, the company points to recently added tipping and says it is soliciting employee feedback and other ideas to address concerns." - Alex Frane

A Third Burgerville Location Has Formally Unionized | Eater Portland

"At the SE Hawthorne Burgerville location, workers voted 13 to 9 in a National Labor Relations Board–overseen election to join the Burgerville Workers Union, making this shop the third Burgerville location to officially unionize. I noted James Curry IV’s remark that, despite some anti-union messaging from Burgerville Corporate, workers showed up to say they want a union here and are ready to join friends and coworkers at the bargaining table. Burgerville said it remains committed to bargaining in good faith. The union’s long-standing demands — a $5 raise, better health coverage, and secure protections for undocumented workers — remain in place, and the union is calling for a company-wide boycott and will picket outside this Hawthorne location on Monday, December 17." - Alex Frane

A Third Burgerville is Filing for Union Recognition | Eater Portland

"Employees at the Hawthorne Burgerville location are pushing to join the country’s first federally recognized fast-food workers union: earlier today staff presented the company with a petition to be recognized as members of the Burgerville Workers Union and have given Burgerville until the end of the week to voluntarily recognize them before contacting the National Labor Relations Board for a potential election. An election would likely be a snap for pro-union employees, since 80 percent of Hawthorne workers signed the original petition. “Burgerville corporate likes to say that they’re excited to work with the union and listen to us workers,” said James Curry, and he framed this as the company’s chance to do the right thing and prove it. The group’s initial contract demands mirror other Burgerville efforts and call for a $5 hourly raise, assured protections for undocumented workers, and better health care. The relationship between the union and Burgerville’s corporate team has been contentious, with strikes, walkouts, and protests over issues such as the right to wear political buttons at work." - Alex Frane

Oh Burgerville! How I have missed you! From your burger sauce that makes almost everything yummy-licious, to your milkshakes to your strawberry shortcakes in season! You make everything better! I walked into this location and had to wait a hot minute to place an order at the counter. Prices are still reasonable. I took a seat, and my food was brought out to me. Everything was just as I remembered.

So many great drinks selections!!! I ordered a classic cheeseburger, wasn't impressed, reminded me of a McDonald's cheeseburger from 10 years ago.the french fries are also Yummy perfectly cross between not too crunchy and not soggy.Be ready to wait, it's almost always busy. But the service was prompt and they let me change my drink order at the last minute.Prices are not to over the top which is rare these days.

Burgerville is the only fast food we eat with our kids—and for good reason. From the start, we’ve been drawn to their mission of sourcing fresh, local ingredients and supporting Northwest farmers and communities. It’s fast food you can feel good about, and it truly sets them apart. The food is consistently delicious—classic burgers, crispy fries, and perfectly blended shakes—but what really makes Burgerville stand out is the thoughtful approach to ingredients. As a family with dietary restrictions, we especially appreciate the clear allergy-friendly options and accommodations. It makes the experience stress-free and inclusive for everyone in our crew. The staff is always friendly, patient, and helpful—whether we’re navigating allergen questions or excitedly ordering the latest seasonal special. Speaking of which, we love their seasonal items! From berry shakes in summer to cozy autumn-inspired bites, there’s always something new and crave-worthy on the menu. Burgerville isn’t just a meal—it’s a tradition for our family. A fast food stop that actually aligns with our values and tastes great, too.

Amber really took care of me and blocked the homeless person from coming in. Nothing wrong with homeless people, but this guy tried to bust through the door of the restaurant, and that's scary! Amber really took care of us though and I'm very grateful for her! Didn'tlose her! She holds this place together

My favorite Burgerville location. Nathaniel and the rest of the crew have saved many of my mornings with their breakfast sandwiches and genuinely friendly service. I'll drive here even if there are other BV locations closer to where I am.

I appreciate that they use fresh ingredients.... However, I've had issues with the quality of their food. This time my partner ordered me fries. The fries tasted of dirty oil, and had the distinct taste of fish. If I wanted fish and chips, I would have ordered that. Instead, I ordered fries, and got fish juice in my fries since they can't seem to be bothered to use separate oil, and from my experience of tasting old oil, they don't change their oil often. I swore off burgerville about 10 years ago after I was given (and actually ate) raw chicken nuggets. I tried them again and was let down again. Don't hide behind "fresh, local ingredients" if you constantly have quality issues!!!!!

Friendly staff, very efficient with orders, accommodate special requests easily. Because the food is frequently cooked to order, it may take a minute or two longer than other fast casual restaurants, but the food is of better quality. They recently dropped the cold brew shake in favor of the mocha perk - not a good choice. Cold brew shake with an extra shot is significantly better than the mocha perk. The chocolate in the mp almost tastes like cocoa powder mixed in. {Update}. Cold brew shake has been reinstated -it is excellent. Walla Walla onion rings are back with the original (non-GF) batter, and they are excellent also. Very good.
