The expansive menu with all the cute names drew us in. I mean, how can you resist sandwiches with names like: Rastafarian, or Flankenstein, or Fun Guy? Once we got in to the place and were seated in the bar area, we saw that this kind of humor maintained itself in the wall decorations. We were seated directly below the largest cast iron pan I have ever seen. There were also copper pots with matching lids mounted on the wall. I wanted to take some of them home with me! For our first visit we decided to try different things so we tried one burger, one salad, one pizza, and one pasta dish. We also tried their Torts with the Mango Salsa as an appetizer. Torts - as the menu explains - are fried tortilla chips dusted with a spice mix. They come as a side for many of the sandwiches. We really liked them as they were not greasy and the spice mix was interested and not too salty! The salsa was somewhat disappointing as it was mostly corn based and sweet - we did not detect much mango. On the other hand the Chicken Marsala, the Beet Salad, the Mushroom Pizza, and the Burger were excellent. All kinds of wonderful flavors in each of them. If there was a miss in any of that collection it was on the pizza which had a small mound of pickled red onion in the center - not necessary and a bit distracting. Portions are large - you are getting your money's worth. We ended up with leftovers for more than one additional meal. The server was excellent: explaining things and answering questions and taking care of multiple tables while not leaving any of us feeling neglected. She was also very personable and we traded stories of places we've lived at and foods we wanted to try! Oh, and speaking of large portions, the burgers are half a pound of meat, and then they add generous toppings. Come with a large appetite if you want to tackle one of those. With such a large and diverse menu we will definitely have to come back to experience more of their offerings.

Wow, this place was amazing! Definitely can get busy but were seated quickly upstairs. All of the food was great - I got the guido sandwich with the torts. Good prices and portions!

Google
Typical hippie gastropub wanna be restaurant with their own “specialty” being fried flour tortillas instead of corn. The staff are running around and acting like everything is an emergency, you should have seen what a dilemma it was to find a spot to sit two people. We then waited almost an hour for our food even though there were more staff than patrons when we arrived at 3:30, I can’t begin to imagine what it’s like getting food at 6-9pm on a Friday. If you’re looking to kill time and drink then go here, if you’re really hungry or looking for a quick meal then don’t. I saw they have a food truck, I’d check it out if you see it because the food was good when it finally came.

Google
We went for the first time today. I highly recommend the chicken Asiago, the knotty knots and the crab ragoon dip. Best food we had had in awhile.

We always have a fantastic experience at this restaurant. The quality of the food is consistently excellent every time we visit. The flavors, presentation, and service never disappoint, making it our go-to spot for a reliable and delicious meal. It’s just nice to know that the food will be good every time you go. The menu is very unique and has great variety. The bar staff is adorable and funny, and the servers are super kind.

Google
We were visiting the area from out of town and chose to dine here based on the great reviews. We arrived around 5pm on a Saturday, which was perfect and before the crowd. We had no wait for a table. The menu options are unique and not something you can find everywhere. Service was good, but the restaurant got busy after we arrived. Our food was amazing. The knotty knots were a favorite and the buffalo soldier pizza was also great! The bacon dog and torts were also good! We will be back when in town again!

Google
The food at Brick and Mortar was excellent! We found this spot on Google when stopping through Bridgeville the weekend before Christmas. Santa was there for the kids. We sat at the bar and had a number of the house specialties - see photos. Everything was delicious, but I have to call out the house creamy Italian dressing. It was the best I've had in a long time. Also, the pork and kraut balls are totally creative and amazing.

We sat at the bar for lunch for our first visit & really loved everything. There are so many interesting options on the menu! We're excited to try more.

Yelp
I was in town for work and wanted to try something local. I could not have been happier with my choice. The fish sandwich I ordered came highly recommended by the staff. It arrived hot, fresh and nicely crispy. The fish was cooked perfectly, not overdone but not underdone, perfectly flaky. The portion was massive. You could've made two sandwiches out of the single fillet that I got but I was not complaining as it was so good with malt vinegar and some tartar sauce. It was perfect. The "torts"were a lovely surprise, especially with the salsa. Crispy, light, sweet with some heat to them and not too greasy they are worth a try. The Apple Berry dessert was fantastic. Came out warm with ice cream and a great mix of flavors that was not too sweet either. I can't wait to go back. The staff was incredible, very polite, friendly and willing to chat for a bit. The place just had a great vibe to it like a place you want to just hangout.

Yelp
4 - I'd drive 30 minutes out of my way just to come here. Skip to the end to see my rating scale. With so many high ratings of this place, I don't really feel the need to write a huge review. I agree with the other 4 and 5 star ratings. They have a tiny but very nice back deck available and the food is outstanding. Hosts, wait staff, and even the chef were inviting without being "up in your face" happy. Top it off with a beer menu that's small but features several solid craft brew selections, and it was a great experience all the way around. For sure I'd go half an hour out of my way just to eat here again. My rating scale: 1 - Just don't 2 - You'll survive, but there are better choices close by 3 - Good choice if you're in the area 4 - I'd drive 30 minutes out of my way just to come here 5 - I'd try to convince my wife to drive an hour just to come here

Yelp
My friend told me about this place so I decided to order takeout one evening. Online ordering was simple and my order was to be ready about 20 min after ordering. I ordered a naked dog with cheese, pickles, and ketchup and then added a side of sautéed veggies. I also ordered an order of fried pickle chips. I thought everything tasted good. I prefer cheese sauce over shredded cheese on a hot dog, but it was shredded cheese here. Pickup was easy and parking wasn't too difficult to find. Great little spot in Heidelberg!

Yelp
Brick N' Mortar had been on my list of places to try for years. Finally was able to stop recently and it did not disappoint. Really cool vibes to the place. Everything was super clean and the service was great. I split the rastafarian sandwich and the Buffalo solidier pizza. The sandwich came with their house made chips and they are incredible. So fresh, flavorful, and the perfect amount of crisp. Both the pizza and sandwich were great. The rastafarian was a delicious pita filled with jerk chicken, greens, and salsa. All of the flavors came together perfectly. The Buffalo solider pizza was equally impressive. Fresh dough, flavorful sauce, and a great char to it. The pizza went great with their homemade ranch. I would highly recommend stopping if you are ever in the area.

Yelp
This little restaurant is amazing. I had the Rastafarian sandwich and it was delicious. 100% recommend

Yelp
We were looking for a place to eat after visiting someone in the hospital nearby.Without knowing the area as we live over 2 hrs away, we stopped in to this place. We loved the decor and the oldies being played, the friendliness of our waitress Kayleigh, and the mouthwatering menu. The burgers we chose had us talking all the way home as they were so good, possibly the best we've had. That is how a restaurant should be! Great food, service, and ambiance. We just wish it were closer to home! Anytime you want to come to Ohio, we will gladly support and promote you! Great job by all

Yelp
I came here for dinner on a Friday night (highly recommend reservations) and it was quite busy. After being seated I got the buffalo blue cheeseburger ($17) and Funion($18) pizza. The burger was cooked to a perfect pink and had blue cheese, bacon, onions. It tasted quite good, however inside of the beef patty was unfortunately a piece of bone that was grounded into it. Besides that the burger was quite flavorful. The funion pizza had garlic spread, marsala mushrooms, fresh onions, caramelized onions, BBQ sauce, pickled onions, scallions. I enjoyed the pizza especially the onions and garlic. The crust was also quite good coming from a person that doesn't typically enjoy crust. Staff was nice, however they did forget to give us utensils. There is a 3% credit charge which caused me to pay with cash instead. Overall a really good restaurant, i would definitely come back to try the other pizzas. Food(50%): 8.3 Staff/service(25%): 6.5 Value(25%): 7.5 Overall: 7.9/10

Yelp
What a surprise! We were hungry on our way coming down 79 and decided to take a risk and pull off the Carnegie exit only to find this wonderful restaurant. Very unique offerings of sandwiches and salads. I had the Rastifari which is jerk chicken with a mango corn salsa on it and my wife had a salad happy hippie. Food is absolutely fantastic. Something no one else is offering it looked good and it tasted even better. They were very attentive with their service. The wait staff couldn't wait on us enough. They were always there on services with a smile. I got to feel that it was a family oriented. Restaurant is the clientele for families and groups. It's by no means a big place, but we sat outside and even in the heat it was comfortable on my next drive home from the airport. This will be a place i will stop and to come and try some unique things. We did not have the pizza but the people on the table next to us did and it looked wonderful you have to try out the next time and get a big batch of mango salsa and chips.

Yelp
A great place for easy, delicious dinner! For a Tuesday night, it was hoppin' and the quickest way to eat was sitting at the bar. The bartender was really quick in her feet, and kept checking on us even though she was doing the bar service and table drinks. The food was SO GOOD. My favorite was the corn and mango salsa and the chips were SO GOOD - best chips I've ever had. I can't wait to go back again!

Yelp
Do not sleep on their fish sandwich. It's unbelievably great. Size of your head ... but don't let that fool you. The quality matches the quantity. Bun.... Buttery and perfect. Breading... panko and perfect. All flavor, all delish, all Friday fish frys....

Yelp
Came here today based on a yelp review and it did not disappoint. Delicious food (Frankinlious, Hen15and Reuben) and loved the beer selection and Grannhattan was the best. Don't miss marsala mushroom soup and 5 cheese Mac n cheese.

Yelp
High quality food, good service. A little pricy but I thought the quality was worth it

Yelp
They have a tiny dining room, and a wonderful menu. They added some outdoor seating, which is very welcome. The food is phenomenal! I like to get a big salad or handheld, and soup. I ordered takeout from here also, and the staff is always very busy. The staff is very helpful and efficient. I highly recommend brick and mortar dining room.

Yelp
After 4 or 5 visits, we have enjoyed several different meals and still think this is a hidden gem. Don't hesitate, check it out!

Yelp
This place doesn't look like much from the outside, but once you step inside it's a whole different story. The decor is nicely done with impressive light fixtures and lovely plants. There's a bar area as well as a full dining room with plenty of tables. We were greeted and seated right away. The menu had a nice selection. Our waitress gave us top quality service while we were there. I ordered the garlique pizza with spiced chicken. It was really good. I loved that the chicken was thinly cut instead of the typical thick chunks you get at other places. The flavor was incredible. I highly recommend this cool little spot!

Yelp
A great local burger and sandwich restaurant! The seating area is on the smaller side, with minimal tables and a bar, so be prepared to wait a little if it's during dinner rush. The menu is filled with delicious and unique handheld foods. I ordered the Dude burger and it was great! The beef patty was very tender and juicy with a sweet BBQ sauce on top. It also had crispy bacon, roasted peppers, caramelized onions, cheddar jack cheese, pickles, and greens, combining to create a flavorful bite. Even the grilled brioche bun was soft, warm, and tasty. The burgers also come with their housemade torts, which are chips that are wonderfully crispy with a cajun-like seasoning. They didn't give me many chips, I definitely would have liked a few more to fill up the meal. The price was a bit higher than expected for a burger and chips, but it was a nice casual atmosphere and delicious meal.

Danielle R.

Yelp
We started with their signature torts-absolutely amazing!! My husband and I both had their chicken sandwich special which did not disappoint. The flavor was excellent and the pickles on the side were some of the best I've had. They were dill with a little kick to them-very flavorful. Service was as great as the food-we most definitely will be back!

Yelp
Cute/funky space. We sat upstairs 8/28/2024. Server, Mary was terrific! Four of us had a variety of salads and sandwiches. I will only speak for myself. I had the burger with mushrooms and caramelized onions, and swapped out the fries for a beet salad. Have to say if you like beets, this was perhaps the best beet salad I've ever had. So many wonderful flavors. Burger: I ordered some pink, but it was a little more well done than I would've liked. Still tasty. If you haven't tried this place yet, definitely worth stopping in.
google avatar

Yelp
Great spot for lunch! Very cute! Excellent service! Try the torts for a special treat!

Yelp
I have been getting catering from the owner since he had a food truck. It was wonderful to see him open the storefront, and now it has evolved into a restaurant with a bar. Tonight was the first time I actually dined there. From the minute you walk in, every single person could not be nicer. The server was great and very knowledgeable. We started with the Dr beets - wow. Just fantastic! My hubby got a Reuben with grilled vegetables and I got the fish tacos with tots. They were each spectacular. The food that they make is always superb. Each ingredient is stand-alone excellent and made with TLC. The food has remained consistently fabulous over the years. What a gem of a place with a wonderful staff and owner.

Yelp
Hi all, as I have posted in the past once a week, my wife and I go out to dinner for date night. This past week we went to brick and mortar kitchen in Heidelberg PA just outside of Carnegie. They expanded the dining areas and it's very very nice clean comfortable. The food is always amazing. They have the corn mango salsa with seasoned tortilla chips and they are great if you're in the area you've gotta try this place. I think you'll love it.
google avatar

Yelp
I finally tried this place after hearing such great things and it did not disappoint! Food was delicious and staff were very friendly. I do recommend making a reservation as inside was a bit tight and it took quite a while to be seated. My friends and I ordered appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Everything was fantastic but the dessert was to die for! I have dreams of the dessert and can't wait to go back to try more.

Yelp
This is quite possibly one of the BEST restaurants in the Pittsburgh suburbs!!! They have an interesting menu loaded with unique items and their execution is solid. They have only had their full dining room open a few months now, but they're doing a very nice job with the service. I had a very hard time deciding what to get... their menu was so interesting! Loaded with gourmet hot dogs, amazingly designed pizzas, and very interesting pasta dishes... So, I opted for their Arrabiata... the description just really spoke to me! I started with their Torts w/Corn & Mango Salsa as an appetizer and the chips were really nicely done! They had an interesting seasoning on them and I loved their texture. The salsa was very nice, even though it was far from spicy. As for the Arrabiata - I really enjoyed it... ATE IT ALL!!! The focaccia that came with it was excellent too! Service was GREAT! Vibe and atmosphere was spot-on!!! I don't normally re-visit too many places when I travel, but I will most definitely be back!!

Yelp
This place is such a hidden gem tucked away on a little side street in Carnegie/Heidelberg. I've been coming here since they opened and haven't been in a few years but since the last time I've been in they have expanded their space as well as added a bar the Vicky's fish sandwich is delightful and one of the best fish sandwiches I've had in my life. I topped it with their brick cheese option, and was not disappointed, not to mention the fantastic beet salad that I got as an appetizer as well as an excellent selection of draft beverages. I can't say enough about this place and I am eagerly awaiting a chance to go back. I highly recommend if you get the opportunity.

Yelp
Really nice place with good food. They have added more bricks - brand new dinning room, outdoor deck and a bar. Check out Troy B's review for more info on that. Some interesting items on the menu and usually have weekly specials. Did a lunch pick up today of a weekly special, shrimp tortilla salad. Very tasty and liked the shrimp that were nicely cooked with some Jamaican jerk flavor. If you are in the neighborhood, stop by and enjoy the food.

Yelp
I'm simply obsessed with Brick N' Mortar. It has easily placed itself at the top of my favorites in the South Hills from the jump.I would eat it daily if I could. I normally order a sandwich/wrap or salad, because they use unconventional ingredients with fresh, flavorful dressings that make me feel relatively healthy and full. It's just not often that you see a salad or wrap stuffed with grilled vegetables and that makes me happy, but worry not if you are trying to clog your arteries -- I promise there is something for everyone! I normally get the Fun Guy wrap (I LOVE that they use grilled pitas and you can get a side of tater tots) or the Happy Hippie Salad with the honey dill dressing. I hate ketchup but I'm all here for their chipotle ketchup, maybe this place can do no wrong for me...so far so good. I have only ordered takeout from here because it's always a bit too busy inside for my liking, but the staff handling the orders has always been patient, fast, and friendly.

Yelp
The last time I reviewed this restaurant was, according to Yelp, over six years ago. I need to update my review, because BnM is a totally different entity than they were six years ago. They continued getting better and better, and it also allowed them to expand into the building next door, or as they say ... "We added more bricks." They also added more wood with an outdoor deck (see photos), where they are growing herbs for use in their kitchen, like fresh Basil, and they even have a small Fig Tree growing in a big pot. The new dining room is beautiful, as is the new wooden bar (currently no beer on tap but coming soon (wine, beer/cocktails bottles /cans are available as are specialty and locally crafted soft drinks)). There is dining inside on two floors, and they also have private rooms available that you can reserve for parties or big family gatherings. The food is incredible ... my favorite menu item is the "Fuego Fish Tacos," two flour tacos with battered Haddock, corn & mango salsa, cabbage, pickled red onions, and a charred chili pepper aioli. Fuego means fire, and these tacos ARE fire!!! I also love the pizza (try the Maui Wowie, if you like Hawaiian pizza), the Margarita that is occasionally on special, and even a plain "Brick n Mortar" pie (I like mine with extra fresh Basil (and one time I ordered it with fresh Cilantro, which is not even on the menu as a topping (like they do out in the Bay Area of California))), and they gladly accommodated me by getting it fresh out of the kitchen and chopped it up especially for my pizza. I also enjoy the Falafel sandwich, the Beet Salad, the Hen 15 Club, Fun Guy, Loaded Tots, and the burgers. The best burger I've eaten here was a special one time called "The Mamoa Burger," (see photos) ... sooooo gooooood and spicy too!!! Last night we made reservations for nine and had a family dinner. Every single person enjoyed their food ... BIG Cheers! P.S. If you ever see the big blue " Burgh Bites" food truck (with Pitt Blue and Gold lettering), that is the same company and it is also really, really good. Check them out!! P.P.S. They also do catering!!!

Yelp
Dang this place does not disappoint. Been here several times and each time was amazing. The fish tacos are very good. Great beers. I could go on and on.

Yelp
We used Brick N' Mortar catering for 2 graduation parties. Our food was better than every other party we attended. Everyone commented on the unique dishes.

David B.

Yelp
Food exceptional , service above average/good, ambience upstairs levels something to be desired . Entire table was impressed w food quality !

Yelp
It's such a great little place! Most everything is good. I really like the soups and the handhelds. Recently they added some outdoor seating which is adorable. Everyone inside is just Pittsburgh nice - the employees and the other customers.

Barbara R.

Yelp
The sandwiches are delicious and service is excellent. The menu had some unusual and creative offerings.

Yelp
Heard great things and lived up to the hype. Cool building with helpful staff. Basic menu but made unique with a twist on the standard. Give it a shot

Yelp
I've been dying to try out this place and finally got to yesterday! I had a lot of shopping to do and needed to get home so I was thrilled I could order online for pick up. It was seamless! Parking on the street can be tricky. My husband had the Kickin Cuban and said it was delicious. I had the Flankenstein. The steak was cooked perfectly. Sometimes steak sandwiches can be tough and cheery but this was juicy and easy to eat. The pita was soft and fluffy. The veggies were crunchy and it soggy. I had a side salad with the sundried tomato vinaigrette. But the stars of the show were the tots with garlic aioli AND the fried pickle chips with homemade ranch. They were fried and not overdone; the sauces were so flavorful and delicious; the tots had a nice seasoning. They should bottle the ranch and sundried tomato dressing to sell if they don't already

Yelp
This restaurant is a 10/10 for me every single time I come. I recommend it to all of my friends and I bring any family member that visits me here for a meal, as well. The staff is super friendly and quick to suggest you tons of things from their huge menu. I've had salads, pizzas, burgers, apps, wraps, EVERYTHING and nothing has disappointed. With the recent renovations, there is significantly more seating. Would strongly suggest stopping in!
google avatar

Morgan G.

Yelp
The food was really good along with the service. We sat outdoors but were asking to move indoors due to their scheduling mistake. While not ideal, the manager made up for it with comping drinks and our appetizer. This really made up for the inconvenience and made me want to return! They have an extensive menu with different sandwiches and other food options.
google avatar

Patrick M.

Yelp
Omg Brick n Mortar pizza is fantastic! So are all of their handhelds! Oh don't forget the cream of some young man oops I mean cream of mushroom zoup! You can't go wrong with B&M. Oh u must try the fish tacos and sandwich. Your taste buds won't regret the choice. The crab Rangoon dip is also off the chain! So whatcha watcha watcha want? Brick and. Mortar is a hot spot with cool menu items and even cooler employees whipping you and I up the most delicious treats to eat! Enjoy and manja my new friend!

Matt M.

Yelp
Service was great. Good selection on menu. Family enjoyed atmosphere/food. Family a wide variety of food (pizza, salad, burger). All were good.
google avatar

Mike M.

Yelp
3rd time here. While the sandwiches have been meh, everything else have been perfection. Some of the best burgers in the city, deliciously seasoned fresh chips, -'s tasty homemade pickles. 3rd stop was even better. Came for fish...left with a delicious "under the sea" roll: shrimp, langostino, crab salad, arugula, pickled onion, and toasted roll w/ fresh chips and one of the best soups I ever had...creamy mushroom Marsala! Staff is always super friendly. I'll be back for more soup and a burger soon...

Dre V.

Yelp
Nice restaurant/bar with chill ambiance. Bartender/server was funny & attentive. Jalapeño popper dip was the best app I've had in a while. Pizzas were also great. Highly recommend!

Yelp
The food and atmosphere is what draws you in. I think the dine in option is still working out the kinks. The service was attentive and catered nicely to a party of 6. We made a reservation and arrived a bit earlier but we were able to grab a drink and before we could cash out the table was ready! Just an FYI, they haven't been able to serve draft beers so all of the beer and ciders were canned (no biggie unless you enjoy drafts) The dine is option seems fairly new because it took 40-50 minutes to receive our food, which seems a bit steep- which is why I say that To-Go is a better option unless you are getting a specialty pasta option. Pictured below is the specialty burger- which I have to unfortunately send back because it was rare- it was a fairly quick turn around but a bit awkward to watch the other members of the party eat (like a mentioned before still a few kinks to work out in the dine in area) Chicken Asiago was a hit! If they ever have the Crab Dip Appetizer as a special, don't hesitate-immediately order!! I also added food from our previous visit which was the Big Kahuna Burger with Torts and Rodeo Pizza (delicious!!!)
google avatar

Jackie A.

Yelp
This is by far the best takeout I have ever had in my life! These people are in there serving up food during a potential ice storm and I can't say how thankful I am to have enjoyed such a beautiful meal! Chicken Marsala- excellent - even the pasta is spectacular. Roasted veggies- AWESOME. Tomato soup, even better. Brick and mortar pizza- perfectly done and simple- this will be our new go to for PIZZA for SURE. Would like to try them all. We also got some kind of Italian sandwich, that was awesome as well. The flavors here are so unique, you can tell a great chef is hard at work here in the background. I can't wait to order more off of this menu- it looks interesting ! Also thinking about catering for a party. Very impressed, and thanks again it was delicious and made with LOVE! Update, went again and got some burgers and tots- be sure not to pass these up either!!

Yelp
The food is creative and excellent. The service was excellent. Eclectic and menu is very interesting.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by this place! Not typical bar food like you might expect, so much better! The service was so friendly and the ambiance was new and clean. 10/10

Geoff W.

Yelp
So good. Smaller restaurant so make sure you have a reservation but we had a great experience. The fried pickles and fish sandwich were fantastic. My wife got the cannoli which she couldn't stop raving about. One of my new favorite places!

Yelp
I love this place! Had really good sandwiches, hot dogs, and salads! I have more pictures but need to find them. Great place to stop in for a quick bite or to get take out! The hippie salad was especially amazing with nicely grilled veggies! I add grilled chicken and get the parmesan Italian dressing and it is SO good. My favorite salad I've had in Pittsburgh. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Finally got to try this place, and it didn't disappoint! Carnegie,Pa. has a winner here for sure. Limited seating inside, with some seating outside. Very friendly staff, explained everything about their establishment, after finding out we were newbies. Nice menu selection, but being a burger connoisseur, I just had to go with the Notorious B.I.G. Burger. All beef patty, signature chipotle braised pork shoulder, ham off the bone, crispy bacon, caramelized onions, cheddar jack cheese, truck pickles, slaw, BBQ sauce and roasted garlic aioli. 5 star burger, everything worked great together, a carnivore's dream!!! It's everything I love in a burger, like it was created just for me. A side of tots with a garlic aioli. I'll have to go back many times, with all of the great menu selections, this I'll say is a must try!!

When I need a really good solid sandwich or burger, this has been my recent go to. I like their pizza as well.
