The Best Hotel Bars and Restaurants in New Orleans | Eater New Orleans

"Decorated in early Storyville, the Burgundy Bar is the kind of place where morals tend to slip, even in the middle of a weekday afternoon. Sexy setting, ice cold beer, potent cocktails, occasional burlesque shows — it all adds up to a great reason to duck off Canal Street." - Beth D’Addono

Heather kept the drinks coming.. Cucumber Martini 🥒 so tasty and so easy to throw back. Great time.. bars are closed in the French Quarter at 11 because of covid.. but this bar goes till 3am..

Google
We were there on 1/26/23 and had such a wonderful night with the bar tender and one of the floor managers. They are so helpful on information about the area. The drinks are delicious as well!

Google
Beautiful bar inside of the Saint Hotel. Standard hotel prices for drinks. Burlesque shows on Friday nights are very popular and you have to reserve in advance. Very helpful staff

Alexander Vallar

Google
An enjoyable experience and even better performances! The jazz music coupled with burlesque is very unique yet extremely entertaining. Needless to say, this bar is not for children! The staff is wonderful, and the drinks are very reasonably priced. It's a very intimate venue, and seating is limited. Make sure to book your reservations early to guarantee a good seat!

Google
Friendly staff and great cocktails in a relaxed environment away from bourbon street (but not too far)

I went to see the Burlesque show. I had never been to one before. It was a lot of fun. Th MC was funny. The live music was very nice. The girls were great. People on the street could see them and the girls did a great job of incorporating their shenanigans into their dancing.

It's nice to have a great bar in your hotel! We had drinks which were good albeit expensive. We had spinach artichoke dip which was tasty.

Google
The Saint is always a nice stop along Canal Street. I've stayed here as well because you get Marroitt point (Autograph Hotel). We just got drinks in the bar ..very tasty, swanky atmosphere and very cool bartender. Stop by if you can.

Yelp
I had such a common fantastic experience at the burgundy bar at the same hotel. I was staying upstairs and me and my girlfriend really wanted to come down for a drink and a charcuterie board and of course they had high and drinks that we honestly couldn't find anywhere else in the French quarters. this bar is definitely up-and-coming and I strongly feel that if they did a little bit more advertising, they would probably have a larger crowd but I'm not sure that they're aiming for that. This is definitely the most upscale bar in the area and I'm not sure that they're trying to attract the type of folks that come to the French quarters to party. It's a super classy bar they even have this giant gorgeous chandelier and a piano underneath so I can honestly envision this place getting extra classy when they have the right talent performing. our bartender was the sweetest woman, and we truly appreciated how she was. She nailed our drinks and listened to me when I said I didn't want my drink to be strong. I highly recommend this location to everybody that drinks even cost a lot. We ended up getting four and didn't even surpass $50.

Yelp
We were staying at the Ritz (next door) and were looking for a nice cocktail bar (a "real" cocktail bar, similar to a speakeasy, where all juices/mixers are made fresh, daily and they solely use topshelf spirits, and a unique/interesting list) so we came here... The place looks incredible and looks like it would have a great vibe, if only the vibe were better! The bartender was bored and playing on his cell phone the entire time we were there. We only stayed for one drink, which is sad, because they have a nice cocktail list and it's even set up in a cool manner (7 deadly sins). The décor is seductive, playful, devilish and fun and it's in a really nice hotel! It's sad that it's so boring in there, after we had our drink we left, went to the Sazerac Bar in the Waldorf and it was standing room only in there... bartenders and energy was so much higher! This place is seriously on the verge of something great... Get some decent management and enthusiastic bartenders and it'll also be standing room only!

Yelp
This bartender wouldn't serve us! We (3 BLACK professional women) stopped by before an event to have one drink before our show. We had to sanitize and wipe down the counter ourselves. After 20 minutes of being ignored and having everyone else that came in after us served, he finally comes over to take our order. He could sense our unspoken frustration and after giving our order, he responded "no thanks". He proceeded to serve everyone else who didn't look like us. You don't need to read between the lines, clearly the color of our skin was an issue. We submitted a complaint with the GM. Don't come here!!! It ain't for us!!!!

Yelp
Our stay at the Saint was great. The bar was very nice and aesthetically pleasing. The concept behind the hotel and bar was really cool. Highly suggest going and trying their cocktails. Very good.

Yelp
Thank goodness the M Bistro next door at the Ritz Carlton is open and accessible. Walk past the Burgundy Bar, through the front doors, go left on Canal Street. Take the elevator to the third floor. M Bistro is to your left. You are welcome.

Yelp
This place is so swanky and sexy-definitely the perfect spot for good drinks and a fun date night! I haven't been when they have had live entertainment but I'm looking forward to going when they do. Drinks were standard, good. Service at the bar was fine, they didn't have any cocktail servers on the floor. Overall really enjoyed this place for a swanky date night or intimate get together with friends.

Yelp
Very sexy vibe and the cocktails are something to rave about. Based on the Seven deadly sins this bar bring flavors to your spirit of choice. Light bites are also available give your palate a surprise and try their various options.

Yelp
A hidden gem! So happy to have found this place. Decent drinks, great ambiance, comfortable seating! Definitely will visit again.

Yelp
After a mix up with the time of a show at the Saenger, we found ourselves needing to kill an hour. So out comes the Yelp app and this was by far the closest place so we headed over. We immediately made a comment about the decor. It is very dark with red lighting. In the space that is close to the front of the building, there is a HUGE chandelier. The bartenders were nice enough. Not overly friendly, but definitely not rude. They claim to have the best Moscow Mules in the city, so we decided to order some. I made mine a Kentucky with bourbon instead of vodka. They were good but not great. And as with most hotel bars, the prices were a little elevated. All in all, a pretty decent bar. But I probably wouldn't seek it out again unless we were under the same situation. So as the star system says, three stars make it A-ok.

Yelp
This is a swanky little surprise of a bar in The Saint Hotel on Canal that gives of a mysterious James Bond type of appeal. Its a great bar with excellent bartenders, fine cocktails and really great ambiance. A really great bar to enjoy before you go out for the real fun. Had my first Sazerac here and it was great.

Yelp
Sexy, sultry little bar tucked away in the corner of The Saint Hotel. Elegantly appointed and uber cool. We recently stayed at the hotel itself and this just happened to fit our late morning, early afternoon and evening beverage / pre-excursion, needs. Handsome, accommodating staff that made great drinks and always served with a smile. Plenty of seating at the bar area and peripheral seating strategically located along the walls and adjacent to the stage. WARNING: When the band plays, it gets LOUD!!! AND crowded!!!
google avatar

Yelp
I stayed at The Saint hotel and it was so sassy.... The Burgundy Bar is part of the hotel and the look and feel is also very sexy and sassy.... That's about all I have to say positive - the food was horrific! The drinks and service were 'meh' - so overall I have to give this place 2 stars... Had crab cakes - more like hush puppies that were deep fried to a crispy dry cake.... you can get better ones at Long John Silvers I'm sure - maybe they were hush puppies and I just didn't know that when the menu said 'crab cakes' Honestly - I would think management would recognize this by the lack of people in the restaurant and bar - but I guess they are waiting to get a ton of feedback...

Yelp
Very neat little bar in the hotel. The decor is eclectic & gives off such a quirky but chill vibe (HUGE chairs, angel winged decor, etc)! We accidentally saw this place as we were walking towards the French Quarter from the Saenger Theatre on a Thursday night. Service was quick & there was live music!! Wasn't too crowded but there was definitely some life going on. Totally recommend to pause & check this place out as a little pit stop. Really neat.

Yelp
We visited for the burgundy burlesque show and it was just beyond amazing. Our large group of 10 reserved a table and did bottle service to hold the table. Service was extremely prompt and the girls were just as nice as they could be. The burlesque show was out of this world. I used to teach at a fitness studio that offered burlesque and I can tell you these girls are just amazing. So talented and I loved that they played to the crowd inside and out! (There are large windows behind the stage so people walking down the street were able to peek in on the show)! Their costumes were breathtaking and the attention to detail was just first class! Everything down to their shoes was just gorgeous!!!! The live music was phenomenal and some of the songs were even specifically written for the girls who were dancing! I honestly would recommend the show to anyone who is visiting!

Yelp
We had a little time to kill, so we stopped in for a drink and some lunch. There was a bartender working and he was training someone, and with only three parties, they seemed to be in the weeds. The space is dark, so they have special light-up menus. The special holiday drinks are based on the seven deadly sins, and are delicious. The gumbo and fish sandwich were also tasty. Unfortunately, the service was really lacking. Being from New England, I had prepared myself for slower service, but this was inattentive. Someone also brought desserts out to another group and had them in a dish bucket instead of on a tray. I hope it was clean.

Yelp
Popped in a coupe times since we were staying across the street at the Roosevelt and the Sazerac bar was mobbed. Plenty of comfy seats to sit and drink or people watch. The setting is fantastic with dark wood, red walls and dim lighting. The bartenders however were a bit befuddled and we had one that resorted to using a cheat sheet and asking us what belonged in the cocktails. The Friday burlesque is fantastic and free. We had fun interacting with the dancers who were all very personable.

Yelp
Beautiful bar and a great ending to my 30th Birthday! Loved the ambiance! Great vibes. Staff was courteous and the drinks were just right! We were fortunate enough to catch the live band's performance which was entertaining. Oh! And the lighted menu was very helpful. Can't wait to visit again!

Yelp
Great service. Great music. Even better customers. Live music and fresh drinks. I would say if you stay at the saint hotel you clearly would check this place out. Will def be back

Yelp
Amazing Friday night burlesque show! The band is really talented - seriously, the trumpet players day job is a neuroscientist! They keep you entertained and the show is very authentic New Orleans. They even brush you up on music and burlesque history. It's fun for locals and tourists alike, and it's a few blocks out of the hectic scene that is the French quarter. Drinks are fairly expensive, but they are very good! A table costs $10 I believe, but standing for at least a bit isn't bad.

Yelp
The main claim to fame for this bar is their huge chair that seems to be the obligatory photo magnet. The bar itself is nice but like many hotel bars it is quite overpriced. I've never seen more than a handful of people in this bar and I usually walk past it without bothering to go in but when I have folks from out of town I will bring them here to get their big chair picture taken.

Yelp
Free Burlesque show accompanied by awesome live jazz on Friday's? Automatic 5 star review. I recently came here during my trip to Nola, and it exceeded my expectations. My boyfriend and I wanted to check out a Burlesque show on our last night in Nola, and I'm so glad we found this little gem of a place. Easy to find, awesome space, and sultry atmosphere. I'll admit we thought the bar was going to be bigger since there was going to be a Burlesque show, but the space definitely worked with the amount of people that showed up. Drinks are on the pricier side, but are very well done. We ordered two rounds of drinks, and nothing disappointed us. Bartenders are awesome and friendly. The crowd was pretty casual and much less rowdy than what you would find on nearby Bourbon Street. It's a nice escape from the craziness of Bourbon St! The intimate space along with great and fun entertainment proved to be one of the highlights of our trip. I definitely recommend checking this place out if you have the time while you're in Nola! Keep a lookout for nights when they have free shows!

Yelp
We stayed at The Saint Hotel during our last stay in NOLA, and so ended a couple of our evenings here at the Burgundy Bar. The overall lobby of The Saint is dead sexy, with double floor ceilings and sexy quiet room techno pumping out of massive speakers during the day. The Burgundy Bar is, as you might expect, purplish and velvet in its decor, and pleasantly dark at any hour of the day. My fellow bourbon boozers will be pleased to know that Blanton's, Woodford, and other high end bourbons are available here. I had them on the rocks and the pours and prices were reasonable ($12 for Blanton's, $10 for Woodford). They can make an excellent Manhattan as well, but in New Orleans that is almost a requirement to merely open a drinking establishment. There was live jazz music both nights we stopped in, and it was good, but leaned more toward jazz fusion than dixie jazz. The Burgundy is decent hotel bar, but given the fact that it is on Canal I wouldn't necessarily recommend it if you aren't staying at The Saint, The Ritz, or another nearby location.

Yelp
Terrible service as I walked up to order a drink after just checking into the hotel. My seat was taken by the manager. Terrible customer service

Yelp
The atmosphere is stunning. Thick carpet underfoot, dim lighting above creates a sultry, sensual atmosphere. Red glass, crystal chandeliers and art. I could envision a very sexy night out here if only the service and drinks were better--which is why most people return to a bar in the first place. I ordered one call and one rail cocktail for a friend and I while mingling with other guests in town for New Orleans Fashion Week. $17.50 was my tab for TWO drinks. My highball was whiskey and gingerale, but to be honest it lacked fizz and flavor so either she was out of gingerale and "made" it with coke and sprite, or forgot altogether. It was not very good. I decided to keep the tab open because there was no telling how the evening would go and making some real network connections were possible. After some time we decided to go in search for something to eat since the event had no passed appetizers. Upon closing my tab I noticed my bill was 20.09 and scrutiny of my itemized receipt indicated that they AUTOGRAT at this bar. Glad I checked before tacking on more money for an otherwise sub par experience.

Yelp
Last night I took myself to their FANTASTIC Friday night burlesque show, by myself, (because...date yo self) when I kept being harassed by an intoxicated man. Bartender #1, Lisa, (who makes a really good "Greed" drink!) had offered to charge my phone behind the bar, not wanting me to be left stranded in a new city without it, so i had no means of excusing myself politely. Bartender #2, Lindsey, saw how uncomfortable I was and told me i was welcome to sit in the VIP section (you literally have to pay $25 to sit in the secluded section of the bar). Once i moved, the bus girl, Mia, saw how tense I felt following that interaction with the man, that she made conversation and poured me a shot on the house. Point is, this is the type of support women should give other women, they really made me feel so much safer/comfortable, it made my heart glow. Thank you, wonderful ladies

Yelp
If you are looking for a relaxing and laid back bar atmosphere, this is your place. Dim lighting, soft music, great bar selection, nicely decorated, and friendly staff. If you are looking for the loud festive bar scene look somewhere else however you will have a good time here.
google avatar

Jeannie P.

Yelp
This is a nice, intimate bar, Seating includes anything from large circular booths for a group, to 4 tops and 2 tops. Plus seating at the bar. I've been here on a Monday night which seemed to have more business type people and again on a Saturday night which had more casual but older, mature people. Saturday night had a live band, jazzy type music. The bar is small and dark but very modern and cozy. Music not too loud. Perfect for a girl's night out, double date or just a couple who wants to talk, drink and listen to great music. Currently one of my favorite bars in the city.
google avatar

Rene D.

Yelp
Not sure where to go with this... Is it too dark to read their extensive menu? Are the drinks really boring? Are they offered at crazy-high hotel prices? Are there too many TVs showing sports? Is the staff indifferent to your requests? Yes.
google avatar

Emily L.

Yelp
For someone craving a cocktail, this chic hot spot easily rates four or five stars. We were craving a cocktail experience, one we've come to expect from the artisan bartenders here, and it was just a different scene. Ultramodern lobby is a sampler of color and lighting; filmy white curtains extend some 20 feet to the floor, evoking all the melodrama of "Pearl Harbor." To the left, in the Red Uplit section, you'll find the Burgundy Bar. Certainly a place to see and be seen: we sat next to a B-list actor and heard tales of many more from the bartender, who said they were shooting in the area. But we were there for the drinks. They were good, but not great; everything was carefully measured and prepared by a sweet girl who just plain lacked the confidence of age and experience. No house specialties or inventive combinations, but very decent standards (we had a Sazerac and a Ramos Gin Fizz, both of which fell just above average for those NOLA favorites.) Maybe I'm not being fair, but compared to other hotel bars in the city, this one seemed shallow and fluffy. It's worth a visit, though, if you have time to kill or want to stargaze!
google avatar

Nik L.

Yelp
Bar staff here is phenomenal. Great collection of unique artisanal spirits, especially for a hotel bar. Live entertainment on weekends.
google avatar

Monique L.

Yelp
This is kind of a weird place. We stumbled in here before a show at the Saenger. We were mainly looking for something to eat since all of the restaurants nearby were booked. They had a Happy Hour food and bar menu, and the prices were not bad, although we had to read the menu by the light of a cell phone. I had some boudin balls, which were fine. My friend ordered eggplant chips, and the server brought out zucchini strips. My friend said, "No, I had the eggplant." The server tried to convince her that the obviously long, green strips were eggplant chips and not zucchini strips. Instead of just saying "I'll go check," she tried to argue with my friend about it. We sat in a comfortable seating area and chatted with some out of town patrons. It was not terrible but I don't see any reason to return.

Yelp
So after seeing this place last time I was in NOLA I was fairly eager to give this place a try. From the website it looked like a high end, faierly modern bard (the bar didnt seem so much modern as the actual hotel did). These types of places are a dime a dozen in NYC but when something like that opens in NO, it stands out. After convincing my gf to trek to Canal St (we try to avoid that area), we make our way to the Burgundy Bar. Upon first walking in, its easy to notice that the bar benefitted from some very good photography and lighitng. First off, the backdrop is dirty Canal St. Thats the least of the problems. It feels like cheap casino decor (Boomtown Casinoon the Westbank). The carpet is loud and cheap, the table have vinyl edging and cheap particly board construction. I know this sounds trivial but all these details make up a very cheap ambience. The W or Ritz woiuld never have this and the W is the type of hotel Im assuming theyre trying to compete with (along with the Ritz, Roosevelt, etc). Anyway, after making fun of the cheap decor we order our drinks. My gf gets the outster shooter (the waitress says nobody has ordered one before...um.....odd). I order a martini and she also gets one of their customized bloodies. The shooter was ok and the blooody was average. My martini was filled up halfway and literally had 0 vodka in it. I had a sip then downed it in about 10 seconds so we could get out. Charginbg $12 is NO is bold, so be ready to back it up with good cocktails. Oh, and the drinks took 10 minutes to get to us. This place is kind of a joke-I got the feeling people in there thought they were in some uber fancy/classy bar when in reality, it would never last 1 day in NY. In NO, I bet it lasts no longer than 1 year. Go to Loa if you wanty a nice hotel bar in the area. Or the Ritz.

Yelp
AWESOME live music on Thursday 5/9/13!!!!!! The lady that sings here...she almost blew my freaking socks off! Our friends were staying at this hotel and let me tell you...I'm soooo glad that we met them in the lobby because I enjoyed every second hearing her voice... AMAZING! I really need to just call here and ask who she was. Maybe she wants to move to Vegas and just sing for me all the time :) Oh and don't forget to have your picture taken in that huge chair out front!
google avatar

Ken H.

Yelp
First time there was 10/27/12 (weekend before Halloween). Good atmosphere...BUT and it's a big but..they were out of everything...no Tanqueray...they had ONE Corona...no Coor's Light, no Miller Light....really? They handed me the bill and it was $33, but the bartender made a mistake and only charged me $21....not sure why and to tell you the truth, I didn't care and I didn't correct her. I will not be back. Too many other great bars in the area to come back to this hole .
google avatar

Cliff J.

Yelp
Avoid. Just avoid. Bartenders have no idea how to mix a drink. Service is painfully slow. Prices are ridiculous and the place looks like they are going to shoot a rap video at any minute. Tacky. This really is one of the worst that NOLA has to offer in the high-end bar category.
google avatar

Danielle J.

Yelp
ugh. was dragged here against my will, as my boyfriend was absolutely obsessed with the bar and hotel from seeing it online, and driving by....the decor is absolutely tacky, very very cheap looking..like they did a total half assed job trying to make it classy, but had the budget of $10. Tacky carpet, cheap plastic tables and appliances, and pretty horrible staff outfits as well... Service was super slow (and minimal, as she didn't really know anything about the cocktails when asked), and the drinks not too tolerable, yet expensive by nola standards (I took mine to go, and eventually abandoned it somewhere). For a hotel bar, nonetheless a very new one, I'm a bit shocked that the ambiance was so subpar....monteleone, w, royal sonesta...really any other hotel bar i've been to in nola doesn't half ass it like this place did. I'd say maybe they can work out the kinks, but unless they do a total overhaul on the decor, the service will have to be phenomenal to overcome the experience of sitting there....unless you like hanging out in harrahs - minus the gambling and free drinks. If you're going to go, definitely go once its dark out...the decor likely isn't as visible at that hour (we made the mistake of a late afternoon visit).

Yelp
I honestly can't express to everyone how in love I am with this bar! Especially on Thursday nights when the Yat Pack are performing. All my friends I've brought here really enjoy the ambiance the Burgundy Bar exudes: cozy, intimate, but most importantly classy. The decor of the bar really brings you to another century, and you feel as if you've stepped into a new world, for one night at least. The staff is always very helpful, attentive, and amiable. I've had a good couple of drinks here including the Sazerac, Ramos Gin Fizz, Pimm's Cup (with Tanqueray instead), and the Chardonnay. I met a new friend last night that told me the Riesling was exceptional, but I didn't have the pleasure of trying it since they ran out. I'll make sure to try it the next time! My favorite so far has been their Pimm's Cup though, since I've recently become a gin and tonic kind of gal. Don't worry, I still enjoy my girly, fruity drinks too! And now on to the entertainment: Without a doubt, come Thursday nights from 8:30-11:30 to listen to the AMAZING Yat Pack! My girlfriend didn't know what I was talking about when I kept going on and on about them until she heard Tim's voice. When I say he sounds almost EXACTLY like Michael Buble, I'm not exaggerating. They sing a lot of swing including covers of the one and only Frank Sinatra and Michael Buble! Their covers of "Come Fly With Me", "I've Got You Under My Skin", and "Fly Me To The Moon" rivals many covers I've heard. I think every female died and went to heaven that night when he was singing "Unchained Melody." Talk about swoon-worthy! His voice is as smooth as butter! Not only does the group sing well, they're entertaining as hell! The bar (the women at least) completely roared with laughter when they started making Christian Grey/ Magic Mike jokes. Apparently they forgot to wear their grey ties that night LOL! But really, come here on a Thursday night and you won't be disappointed. You'll be in great company and unexpectedly make some new friends. I have to say it was one of the best nights I've ever had. My friends and I have definitely found our new go-to spot on Thursdays.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is beautiful the chairs, carpet and chandeliers blow me away. The bartenders on Thursdays are great Courtney is pretty and efficient. Good selection of domestic and foreign.beer. Good entertainment options Thurs Yat Pack and Fri Burlesque with Creole Sweet Tease. I also love that they have a pool table. I would return.

Yelp
The bartender LINDA is everything. Makes the experience here great! and Colt was pretty awesome too. Very friendly people.

Yelp
Outstanding bar menu, sexy albeit a tad too dark of an atmosphere, and sassy, attractive bartenders made it memorable. Made us a special drink on the house just so we could experiment, always a classy move by a barkeep. The dark red contrasts nicely with the epic foyer and lobby of Saint Hotel so I thought the overall vibe was just right for NOLA
google avatar

Kelsey W.

Yelp
We were staying at The Saint Hotel for our anniversary and after dinner at another restaurant we came back and had a couple drinks before going back to our room. The bar itself is pretty ornately decorated, with low red lighting. As it was a Sunday (albeit a holiday weekend), it wasn't super busy. There was one bartender and service was good, she came to check on us in the funky red leather corner booth we occupied. We were able to take our drinks out of the bar around the corner and played pool on the gorgeous table in the lobby. My husband paid for the drinks so I can't say what the price was and whether it was good or not. They have live music on Thurs, Fri, and Sat, which I would love to experience next time we're in town!
google avatar

Matthew H.

Yelp
Dropped in here to check out the lobby and stayed for a drink. Fun decor, expensive cocktails that were worth every penny, and good people watching. They do have a tv (which I hate) but it was fairly inconspicuous.
google avatar

Camille M.

Yelp
This is a really cool place. I'm only giving it 4 starts because I didn't actually get to go out there....I was attending a meeting at the hotel and walked thru. I can't wait to try it out. Big, over stuffed chairs....a pool table in the hotel lobby. Velvet. Sexy place. Seems small.

Lauren L.

Yelp
Pretty poor service and once I checked my credit card statement they had closed my tab out $10 more then what it actually was. Not a fan and will not return!

Yelp
I visit the Burgundy Bar back in Feb and it was awesome!! I was looking for a good New Orleans jazz band and happened to come across this bar and a band called Absract was playing, and they where Amazing!! The manager of the bar was very attentive and hospitable. The atmosphere was fun, the bartenders where helpful with info about the city and the drinks were great!!! Definitely would visit again!!
