"Burial’s rooftop is a rooftop for the people who want to be lowkey about it. It’s not skyscraper status; it’s just a second-floor deck, but it’s full of life and still has a very flattering view of the skyline from Plaza Midwood. This joint, flirting with a grunge identity, has cool vintage stereos lining the bar and boasts 36 Burial drafts along with a super satiating menu of kimchi fries and a fried green tomato BLT. Also, now that Plaza Midwood is a social district, guests can buy a drink, snag a to-go cup, and walk around the neighborhood, beer in hand (within boundaries)." - Kayleigh Ruller

Yelp
Super cool place with really good food. Win win! Met some friends here for a night out and ended up running into another friend! Spacious with a rooftop outdoor area and a lower outdoor area as well. There is parking up front but limited spaces (but that's to be expected) Glad we tried and it did not disappoint!

Yelp
The vibe is cool - they have the upstairs rooftop which is fun when it's nice out. Ton of variety of beer, quality is great. They don't brew on site. It is brewed in Asheville and brought in every Wednesday. They also have a good selection of non-alcoholics and also have liquor which is a nice addition.

Yelp
Great location great beer! Just FYI the kitchen is a permanent food truck and it's very good. When we went it had just two staff in truck pumping out great food in 94 degree conditions. The bar does not share tips with the kitchen. So keep that in mind and bring some cash to drop in the kitchen tip jar.

Yelp
It took me long enough but I finally made it out to this brewery. The ambiance and patio are fantastic. The standout feature, however, is the beer--truly superb! Their extensive selection includes a few options with an ABV exceeding 10%. To remain oblivious to evolution until inevitable extinction, was a delicious and smooth stout. It instantly became one of my favorite breweries.

Yelp
Burial is a must visit when in Asheville so I was excited to see that they have a location in Charlotte now. The space is nice, I really liked the rooftop deck. I sampled a few beers but ended up going with a pint of the Through the Forests of Plenty (a west coast IPA) and my friend ordered the Fall of the Damned (a sour). This brewery always has solid beers. Cheers!

Yelp
This is one of the coolest breweries in Charlotte and amazingly centrally located in plaza. It's walking distance from lots of other fun Plaza locations. There's a spacious indoor area with a one-up serving style, where you wait in line to get served vs spreading out at the bar. There's also an oudoor area downstairs and a rooftop where you can see uptown slightly, but it's now getting blocked by new construction. They have both beer and cocktails, so something for everyone. They also have some of the coolest swag items.

Yelp
Love the atmosphere of this Burial! I am a huge fan of the Burial in Asheville and was excited to hear they were coming to Charlotte. The outdoor space is great for when the weather is nice, and they even have an option to open up the windows downstairs to give the whole place an outside feel. The beer is always nice, crisp, and refreshing. I am not a huge fan of IPA's and barrel aged beers (which is what this place is good at), but my friends say this is one of their favorite places.

Yelp
Asheville's Burial Beer makes its entry onto the Charlotte brewery scene with a cool, smartly designed facility that's sure to be one of the most popular spots in Plaza Midwood. With a spacious taproom and a fabulous rooftop deck, The House of Relics (as the location is called) is an outstanding spot to meet for a few brews on a warm Saturday evening, watching the sun set behind the Uptown skyline. The kitchen serves an impressive menu of burgers, sandwiches and salads, and there are wine and cocktail selections available for those visitors who aren't into beer. Hopheads, however, will find much to love in Burial's diverse selection of brews. From signature IPAs like Surf Wax and Feather From the Ashes to tasty Pale Ales like Prophetmaker, there's something here for every taste. And nobody knows how to NAME a beer like Burial. Just try to keep a straight face when asking for a Pint of 'The Wretched Pit of Identity' or 'Liturgy of the Forever Silenced.' So macabre ... and so fun! So make plans to drop into the Charlotte House of Relics for a few cold brews, then grab a 6-pack and some swag from the taproom store on your way home. You'll soon understand why Burial is one of North Carolina's most popular craft breweries, and you might even become a regular visitor.

Yelp
Absolutely adore not only the staff (Nick) and the atmosphere, prices, and flavor are incredible!

Yelp
Amazing brewery in the historic Plaza Midwood district of Charlotte. I have been to the original Burial brewing in Asheville so I know how great the beers are. This tasting room has a very different vibe from the one in Asheville but they have an amazing rooftop bar, an outdoor patio and indoor tasting room. There are two bars, one on each floor which is very convenient. They also serve food but we didn't eat anything this visit. Staff is friendly, merch is on point and their beers are fantastic, they have some wonderful stouts with complex flavors and high alcohol content. These are definitely my favorites from Burial. As well as their creative names for the beers. For example: Fortunate Miscreants of A Kindred Ilk, And All That You Fear Will Slowly Melt Away, Where Everything Was Perfect in the Pits of Aimless Dissatisfaction. They have fantastic Sours and IPAs as well. They are open Monday - Wednesday 12pm - 11pm, Thursday - Saturday 12pm - 12am and Sunday 12pm - 9pm. Definitely check out Burial. Even though Charlotte has many breweries in the area, this one is a do not miss!

Yelp
Another fantastic location for Burial Beer the very best DDH IPA'S without the the drive to Asheville. Pre ordering is a cinch , it's quite helpful when picking up friends beer. The location obviously has a great atmosphere parking sucks so arrive early. Great Cuban restaurant across the street if you've over indulged to sort yourself out. ( The End )

Yelp
Another great addition to the CLT beer scene! We have been to the one in Asheville, but glad to have one in our backyard! They have a large assortment of beer, along with wine and non-alcohol - so there's something for everyone! They also have food - a straightforward menu of burgers, chicken sandwiches, wings and some vegan options as well! We were big fans of the buffalo wings. There is also a surprising amount of space - inside and then a back patio and an upstairs rooftop deck. The rooftop has nice skyline views (until the apartment complex is finished). Definitely will be back to Burial!

Yelp
Beers are top notch. Best part is that when you enter the beer name in Untappd there is only one listed in the search window. Overall a 70's vibe with the green faux leather bar, plastic bar stools at the hi top, and old speakers behind the bar. Omg I luv it here. Of course, limited parking In the area. Great music on the PA. I got a sneak peak at the back yard and 2nd floor patio ( waiting on electrical approval) and they are awesome. Go here.

Yelp
One of my favorite breweries in Asheville made it to Charlotte and I couldn't believe I hadn't been there to try it yet. A friend was in town visiting and I had Monday off, so we ventured to burial after lunch and arrived around 2 PM. We grabbed a seat at the bar inside as it was pretty cold out, there were multiple other people inside, some drinking and conversing, so I'm working and drinking, or a combination of the three. Bartender, Matt Moore was super knowledgeable about all of the beers and gave a good history of burial to my friend in town. Decor is on point and beer is phenomenal. We will be back to check out the rooftop patio when it gets warmer!

Yelp
You can find the Charlotte location of Burial Beer Co The House of Relics at 1218 Thomas Ave, Charlotte, NC 28205 - this is a fairly trendy area of town featuring several bars, clubs, restaurants and breweries within walking distance. Parking is out front or along streets - there appears to be plenty, especially as regular retail closes for the day. I believe this location has been open about a week - the brewery occupies an existing building that appear to have originally been some type of retail or commercial spot. The exterior is brick with a row of glass in the front and access to a fenced patio to the rear, which I believe also gives you access to the rooftop. The interior has polished concrete floors and exposed metal lattice raftering in the ceiling. The bar extends most of the way on the back wall with the door to the back on the left and bathroom access to the right. There's a retail shop on the left side where you'll find an impressive bottle and can selection as well as shirts, hats and other brewery items. On this day we tried pretty much everything on the menu that we hadn't had previously - luckily it was an anniversary bottle release day so we got to both taste the beer and take home bottles. Here's the list of what we tried: * Anno Domini Imperial Stout 4.3/5 - Exceptional coffee stout with low bitterness coffee notes in a creamy coconut and toasted hazelnut barrel aged body, finishing with dulcet vanilla notes. Just a touch boozy but the sweet vanilla makes up for it. * Abstract DDH Opulence: Imperial Illusion 4 Crème Ale 4/5 - Interesting somewhat syrupy cream ale with tart citrus and mango notes in a thick creamy caramel body, finishing with sweet vanilla and a bit of hops. * This Legacy is an Abstraction to Unbridled Curiosity Imperial Stout 4.3/5 - A cross between praline and a pecan pie, notes of sweet maple, nutty praline, coconut, coffee and chocolate in a thick sweet body, finishing in vanilla. * An Actuality Rife with Frequent Unavailability Blonde Ale 4/5 - Somewhat floral saison with citrus and lemony notes, thin fairly easy drinking body finishing dry with notes of honey. * The Virtue of Patience Barleywine (2021) 4.3/5 -Nicely conceived barleywine with caramel barrel body, notes of marshmallow, chocolate and vanilla, finishes into the dried fruit and molasses range, a bit boozy. * Ocean Swallows the Sun gose 4.4/5 - I enjoyed this a lot, tart red hued and somewhat Kriek-like with great mouthfeel, vinous and floral notes finishing slightly sweet with a touch of funk. * Keepers Veil Saison 4.1/5 - Well executed honey ale with tart tea and lemon notes in a slightly earthy base - finishing full and slightly dry. * The River to Hell Runs Red Flanders Oud Bruin 4.4/5 - Perhaps my most favorite in the lambic range, this Oud Bruin expresses tart berries in a dark red body reminiscent of a fine wine in an effervescent body finishing with a lingering vinous quality and a bit of funk. * Ninth Passing Imperial Stout 4.5/5 - Delicious sweet barrel aged stout with big chocolate coconut body finishing in sweet vanilla much like a chocolate macaroon. A touch boozy in the finish but well worth it. * The Incongruence Between What We Know and What We Pretend to Be Triple IPA 4.4/5 - Well executed thick juicy body with haze-for-daze, notes of sweet citrus and melon finishing with enough resinous hops to hide the 10% ABV beautifully. * Formed by Responses Involuntary to Experimental Stimuli Double IPA 4.4/5 - Sophisticated multi-layered hops in this juice bomb with a super hazy citrus and tropical body, finishing dry and hoppy, so good. Fall of the Damned Fruited Sour 4.3/5 - Every version of this seems to improve on the previous, huge notes of blackberries with a jammy barrel aged tart body finishing sweet and dry with an amazing mouthfeel. The bar service was exceptional with quick pours and lots of comments regarding the time we were having. So glad to visit Burial Beer Co's Charlotte location!

Yelp
It's tough to beat this Asheville-based brew. Some of the best beers you'll find anywhere. Very cool setting to hang out with friends and enjoy their excellent beer and food.

Yelp
I am posting to inform everyone that although this brewery has outdoor space, dogs are NOT allowed. I tried calling beforehand - no phone number. I checked their website - nowhere did it say no dogs allowed. I checked their front door- no sign. Therefore I showed up with my dog like most breweries, and could not go in. I will update my review at a later date when I come to visit again.. without my dog haha. Legion and Common Market are nearby and do allow dogs if you run into this predicament like I did. Disclaimer: I have NOT tried beer here yet

Yelp
After visiting Burial on a trip to Asheville we were thrilled to find a Burial in Charlotte on a recent visit! Love their beer, Staff is great , great food prepared out back by their food truck. Wish they shipped to MA!

Karla F.

Yelp
What a cool spot! Great vibes, great merch, and loved the outdoor patio. The staff were really friendly and made great suggestions. I ordered a wine/cider hybrid which I really enjoyed and packed a punch haha. There is also a food truck in the back if you get hungry! I will most definitely be back!

Yelp
This is by far one of the best craft beer things to happen in Charlotte in a long time. The space is really amazing inside. Nice, open area around the bar, music played at the right volume, cool retro seating. Great gift shop that includes vinyl! Beer options are off the charts from hazy, to west coast, to BBA imperial stouts. Some amazing sours, too... get the marionberry! The rooftop bar and deck may just be the best feature of the space. Above all, the icing on the cake is the staff here. Very patient with newbies, and very quick to recognize repeat customers. The only downside here is parking... take Uber, Lift, scooter, bike or anything but driving your car!

Yelp
We've been to Burial in Asheville. This is another cool location to hang. Cool rooftop bar as well as inside/outside seating.

Karen N.

Yelp
Relatively new brewery in Charlotte. They have indoor and patio seating and roof top with a few of Charlotte skyline. They have a decent selection of beers, only one cider and a few slushy options. They do not offer food. The vibe is industrial and service was great.

Yelp
We have visited burial a number of times but afraid last night would be our last. I will say we typically visit in the early afternoon, this visit was around 6 on a Saturday and the atmosphere was that to a BW3's all full of bros and college football, not what I've typically seen at Burial. The bartenders at time seem to act a little haughty at times in the past, I've heard them trashing other breweries but last night we ran into the worse bartender ever. To be honest in our ten or so visits I never seen him so maybe new or a training issue but needs to be addressed by management. To sum it up he threatened to have us thrown out, a couple just looking to have a beer after dinner before we walk home. Not the drunk college football fans, not the guy dressed up as a college mascot...it was over a misunderstanding over whether we could sit at the bar and order or had to go to the register (lines were not particularly bad) We did order at the register as asked, no problem, but when we had a private conversation that this was all very odd he said he was going to have us thrown out. There are too many breweries in charlotte to be treated this way. It just sucks to be treated this poorly at what was our favorite brewery.

Jason W.

Yelp
Beer is 10/10. Music is 0/10. I knew that was their vibe going in but Pantera being blasted at max volume on repeat is just not my thing. Food was solid. Chicken sandwich fries wings pretty much everything.

Myron M.

Yelp
The aesthetic of the restaurant was nice, a mix between a hipster joint and rocker beer bar was my perception. The view from the rooftop was beautiful. Wanting a drink and light snack I ordered the loaded fries and Moscow Mule. The Mule tasted like no mule I've ever had before, and lacked the hit of ginger I was hoping for. Outside of that taste the drink wasn't terrible. The loaded fries were awful, I questioned initially the American cheese, wether it just a slice of cheese on top, it is actually poured over the server said, I should've paid attention to it being poured over but I was focused on the raw red onions added to the mix. The fries were extremely salty, and I like a good amount of salt. Visually the dish is not appealing, cheese poured over with stripes of mustard colored aioli. The fries under the sauce were crispy and well prepared minus the cup of salt added to disguise the lack of garlic in the garlic aioli. The flavors of the cheese alone while not a complete disappointment was just your run of the meal cheez-wiz. I also question why tips are being requested for the most mediocre of service, or actually lack of service. Upon completion of my drink I left hungrier than I came. I'm sure they have more to offer, just not for me, I left I would not go back.

Nick W.

Yelp
Great spot in a cool neighborhood. Beer list is fantastic. Outdoor cigar space and upstairs bar in addition. Food truck on site outstanding. Get the fries.

Ryan M.

Yelp
Awesome digs and great beer! Fantastic atmosphere friendly and quick staff Cannot wait to be back !

Yelp
My issue with Burial is about the parking. My car was towed despite parking in the brewery's parking lot. Apparently some of the spots in the parking lot were designated for nearby businesses but not marked well. So my beers cost me $250 instead of $20. Burial doesn't care enough to provide parking to its customers or warn them. So many good breweries in Charlotte, i won't be returning to Burial.
