I got the curry chicken with coconut rice (for $11.02). The chicken needed a little more curry, but the dish was overall pretty good - the coconut rice and chicken were cooked perfectly and the small side of pickled vegetables just made the dish more "interesting." This place has few open hours and certain items were sold out when I got there at around 11, so I'll be back to hopefully try their brisket

The food is definitely good. The unfortunate thing is they ran out of a few of their main entrees. The young lady taking my order said it's very common that they run out. That's too bad, because it was only 1230 in the afternoon. I think 5 of the 7 entrees weren't even an option for me. And the first item on the sides was also out. Fortunately, the Kalua pulled pork was pretty good, as well as the garlic noodles. Food came out pretty fast. You'd think it was just reheated or something, but I highly doubt it as you can see the 'cook' was very active at the griddle. The other unfortunate thing is the KALE tea leaf salad was definitely more like a lettuce tea leaf salad. The habanero sauces on the counter are worth checking out, but make sure you have a lipid to chase it with. Service was good, but lack of entree options and wrong description gives this place a 3 star.

Small place, intense flavors, top notch service. Burma Bear has a set of proteins like meat, chicken, salmon, and tofu flavored with Burmese spices that can be coupled with various carbs to suit your taste. The serving is just right, scooped into a recyclable brown receptacle. You can consume your lunch there or take it to go. And there are some zesty and spicy sauces you can add to your selection to bring zing to meal. But you have to show up on time. They only have so much of each item and sell out fast as this place is super popular.

The coconut rice and Kalua pulled pork are both good and the portions are generous. And the mango habanero is HOT! Super yummy.

I’ve walked past this place a hundred times and finally tried it today. So freaking delicious. The brisket is covered in a green sauce with an amazing flavor. The coconut rice is fluffy and delicious. I’m not usually a salmon fan but that was good too! Would highly recommend.

Really solid fast tasty eats. The tea leaf salads are a great combo with the heavy bbq. They run out of what they make, so get there early if you want a particular item, and this is part of the charm because everything is so fresh and high quality!

Delicious fushion of BBQ (brisket, ribs, pulled pork etc) meets Burmese cuisine. Their hours are sparse right now, so on the rare chances I find that they are open i order whether hungry or not. One of the best hidden gems in downtown Oakland!
