Exciting Restaurants to Try in San Jose 2025 | Eater

"Texture and crunch are a throughline of the menu at Burma Choice. Take the popular tea salad as an example: Fermented green tea leaves add tangy, umami notes while a variety of seeds and nuts bring a bite. The restaurant takes a no-holds-barred approach to favorites like the fiery chili beef or the egg and okra curry. Balance the heat with an order of mango tofu and Burmese ice tea." - Christina Marie Mueller

Burmese dishes are one of the Asian dishes I love. When I search for Asian food, Burma Choice has good reviews. It turns out that it is an excellent choice. Burma Choice is in a shopping center with a huge parking lot, so parking is not an issue. This is important in San Jose, where restaurants that don’t have enough packing spaces for their customers are common. The dining room in Burma Choice is clean and comfortable. It is excellent with the delicious dishes they serve. The service is a little slow but our waitress is very friendly. I will be back next time when I’m in the area.

Stopped by for lunch and had a great experience. Parking was easy, and we found a table right away. Our food arrived quickly, which was a plus. We ordered the Minty Jalapeño Chicken, Palata with Vegetarian Dip, and Eggplant Curry. The chicken was packed with flavor, with a refreshing hint of mint and a kick of spicy jalapeño. The palata was perfectly flaky and paired well with the vegetarian dip. The eggplant curry was rich and well-seasoned. To finish, we had the sticky black rice with ice cream, which was absolutely delicious—the warm, slightly chewy rice paired perfectly with the cool, creamy ice cream. The restaurant’s ambiance matched its theme, creating an inviting and authentic atmosphere. Would definitely come back!

The first thing I will say about this restaurant: I will be back and will bring my family. I don't often have Burmese food, and this restaurant really offers a variety of delectable dishes, with just the right amount of spiciness to make it authentic for the Southeast Asian palate.

Google
Had the Tea Leaf Salad, very good. I really like the different crunches in this salad. Honey glazed walnut shrimp. They were good with the right amount of sauce. Burmese shrimp curry. The light batter on the shrimp melted in the sauce. Not too spicy and tasty. Could be better without the batter. Sat outside, they were very busy.

After having limited expectations for Southeast Asian restaurants in the United States, my perspective changed entirely after visiting this particular spot. The Burmese House Noodles, with their subtly sweet taste, were an excellent appetizer. The stir-fried chicken, seasoned perfectly with pepper, received high praise, but the star of the meal was undeniably the bird curry. While rooted in Indian curry flavors, it wasn't overpowering, resulting in a beautifully balanced taste. The shrimp within the curry were exceptionally delicious, truly satisfying my appetite. This restaurant stands out not just for its food but also for its unique ambiance and luxurious interior. It caters to a diverse crowd, from couples to families, and the staff's friendly and energetic attitude added to the experience. What's more, the prices were quite reasonable compared to other places I've been to. I'd wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to my friends. Additionally, ample parking space and nearby dessert cafes and a Starbucks made it incredibly convenient—no need to travel far for a post-meal treat.

Google
First time trying Burmese food, Burma house noodle was awesome, fresh juicy shrimp. The ginger chili pork was very tasty but it was little too spicy for me. The price is very reasonable, friendly staffs and nice environment! They also have outdoor seating which is awesome, you can enjoy your meal with your fur baby.

Google
Nice interior and friendly staff. The salt and pepper calamari was just ok. The chicken curry with coconut milk was great. The eggplant with shrimp and garlic sauce was the best tasting. We also ordered the garlic noodles with pork was good. It had rice wavy noodles, which I like. The service was excellent. Next time, I will try their salads, which they had a good selection.

Plates are greasy at first. Table is also not clean. All the dishes are too sweet. Service is ok.

Yelp
Best restaurant in San Jose! Authentic, unique, and great flavors It's my third time here and I will definitely be back!! five stars!

Yelp
This place is pretty good! Came a few times most dishes are delish. Favorites: Tea Leaf Salad, Pumpkin Stew, Nan Gyi Thoke The Crispy Spicy Chicken was a miss. Came out as literal balls, the chicken to batter ratio was :( Also didn't live up to its crispy name. Burma House Noodles was like if pad thai and sweet and sour sauce had a baby. Cute place and they have outdoor seating for the dogs!

Yelp
Everything we got here was very sticky sweet and all had the same flavor profiles. The crunchy tofu appetizer and the mango shrimp had very similar sauces and both were sweet. The tea salad was different than other places and didn't seem the most authentic when compared to other places. The crunchy chicken was good but also in a sticky sweet sauce. The house noodles are like a sweeter version of pad Thai. Overall the theme was sweet!

Yelp
This place is just okay. Lots of parking out front. Not too busy. Came with a group so was able to order a few different dishes to try and share. I would avoid the garlic chili pork and the jalapeno chicken. These were way too salty. Did not enjoy at all. The garlic noodles were a miss too. The noodles tasted bland and had a bit funky after taste. The tea leaf salad, house noodles and the crispy chicken are definitely the way to go. If you go, order these dishes. The coconut rice is good too.

Yelp
We were excited about this place but disappointed in the food. Their tap water was real tappy and only one dish out of everything we ordered was really delicious - the Palata with chicken curry dip. But even that came with barely and chicken curry to dip, so that wasn't great for $14. Their Tea Leaf Salad was missing something - maybe shredded cabbage? It just had romaine. Their fermented sauce was a bit much. The server recommended the Nan Gyi Thoke, which had rice noodles that resembled spaghetti, or the same ones that go into bun Bo hue, and it was just okay. The coconut chicken curry wasn't that flavorful. Mix it up with hard boiled eggs? Still not good. The Burma Choice Noodles had a sauce that tasted like gochujang (Korean spicy bean paste). Very unexpected and not something I ever had at a Burmese restaurant. Since I cook with gochujang all the time, this was a waste of $17 for gochujang chicken noodles. My dad ordered the Mango Shrimp. It wasn't tasty. My sister ordered the chicken pumpkin stew, which wasn't good. I packed it up and after our meal so she can eat it another time.

Yelp
Had a fabulous dinner. We had samosas, orange beef, salad, noodles, everything was fabulous. Dinner was exceptionally affordable, and service was excellent. There's ample parking and there is inside and outside dining.

Yelp
Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 I've always enjoyed Burma food, and this place did not disappoint on our first time here. I enjoyed the large selection of vegetarian-vegan friendly dishes. Server is friendly, attentive and food came out very fast in less than 3 minutes. My family and I will definitely be back to try other dishes. Portions are great to share with family or large groups too. Lamb curry here was delicious too. Also, great wine choices too. Save room for the dessert; got the fried banana/jackfruit with ice cream. Yum!

Yelp
Delicious! Came here for dinner last night. We had garlic noodles, basil lemongrass swai, and coconut chicken curry. Service was great - we were checked on a few times. The restaurant was small but cozy. I've ordered from DD a few times and happy to say, the flavor is consistent whether it's dine in or take out.

Yelp
They should rename themselves to Prime, if they're believers in the USDA scale. Burma Choice is a understated little spot on Blossom Hill and Santa Teresa which I've been recommended twice by friends and family. Considering that tonight's plan A fell through, I gladly agreed to stop here tonight for an early dinner. The signage isn't well-lit, so if you're showing up after sunset, look for this place between TLeaf Teapresso and Pizza My Heat. We got there early in the evening, so we were seated immediately without a reservation. I deferred to my friends mostly, aside from suggesting that I would like an order from the noodle menu. Our orders came out surprisingly quickly, perhaps because it wasn't busy yet. Tea Leaf Salad ($17.99), a vegan dish, is a stunner. I couldn't tell you what made it so good, but it was savory and had a lot of fun crispy elements. The dressing is great and balanced, and since the server tossed it tableside, all the ingredients were evenly dispersed. Palata ($13.99) with Vegetarian Curry Dip, which I believe is vegan too, is a small but satisfying appetizer. The flatbread is sturdy enough, and the dip is not heavy and feels like it tends toward the Indian sphere of curries. Sesame Tofu ($16.99), an inexplicable third vegan dish, was also worth my time. The tofu was fried to a crisp that lasted the entirety of the meal, but it was still pretty soft inside. The sweet and tangy sauce and the sesame seeds meant that it was basically the vegan equivalent of a sesame chicken, but that texture was so good. Nan Gyi Thoke ($16.99), another dish which was mixed tableside, ended up being the only meat-containing item which I had tonight. It had some similarities to the Thai dish khao soi in that there was a coconut curry sauce and some crispy elements, but the curry here was just a sauce rather than a soup, the crispy item was wonton strips, and the hard boiled egg and likely the pea powder really changed the game. The chicken was tender and tasty too. Come to Burma Choice if you like food, period. Do expect that you may have smaller portions here than at other restaurants, so you might consider trying to order a second round later. I ended up doing a second light dinner later, which didn't bother me at all.

Yelp
This place threw me for a loop lol how do they serve halal meat but also serve pork but also have a bar?! I decided to have an open mind and try it out. My mom only eats halal meat so I really wanted her to try a new spot but she was hesitant. I called beforehand to confirm their meat was halal and asked our waiter as well. We were blown away by the food and the customer service. The food: The sesame beef is an absolute must-try. We order it every single time--it's perfectly crunchy, flavorful, and just amazing. Another standout is the salt and pepper chicken, which we often get as a appetizer, the fish sauce paired along is amazing. My mom doesn't like it, so more for me! We like to mix things up with their salads and are still exploring to find our favorite. So far, the noodle salad is a strong contender, but we also enjoy the classic Burmese fermented tea leaf salad, which is a great choice if you're craving something authentic and refreshing. The service is always solid, too! Even though they're consistently packed, the staff makes sure we get everything we need without a hitch. If you're looking for bold, delicious flavors and a lively atmosphere, this place is definitely worth checking out!

Yelp
it really just was okay.. nothing special and I'm pretty confident I could make a better tasting fried rice at home. It was on the bland side, it only got slightly better with the sauce, but it didn't come with the sauce right away, I had to go out of my way to ask for some sauces to go with it. The service wasn't great either, but the ambiance is pleasant inside. It was a decent meal but I won't be returning and wouldn't recommend it. There are better places out there for this style of food guaranteed

Yelp
The Powers that Tea Located at the former Masa Ramen Bar (home of the Masa Ramen Challenge as seen on Man vs Food [S8:E19**]), Burma Choice has been serving up one of the more underrepresented restaurant cuisines: Burmese. Burmese food is a Fusion of mostly Thai with some Indian and Chinese thrown in for food measure. Burma Choice is one of only a small handful of restaurants that do this, but it should be noted, they do it very well. The Good: *Friendly service *Dog-friendly outdoor dining *Large shared private lot *Service was friendly and attentive *Local beers on draught, as well as a full bar. *Palata app is a must-order! The crispy, flaky palata was sensational. Imagine a croissant smashed into a flat bread. Yeah. It's that good. *Carissa loved her Pumpkin Stew w/ chicken, as it was a well-balanced soup/stew with good pumpkin flavor that had a subtle sweetness to go with the earthiness. *My current obsession, after reading about it on a local subreddit, is Burmese Tea Leaf Salad. This was only my second time consuming one but it was even better than my first time. Earthy, crunchy, and filled with tons of legumes and other goodies. Please note this is a vegan dish, but I highly-recommend going to the dark side and asking for some complimentary Crushed Dried Shrimp to sprinkle on top of the salad to give it an even bigger umami punch. The Meh: *Jackfruit Bananas dessert was just OK. I felt like all I could taste was the bananas In the filling and not enough jackfruit for my liking. And the ice cream was a boring vanilla. If they really wanted to pump it up, make the filling all banana and the ice cream jackfruit flavored. The Ugly: *Why is it when you're in a mostly empty restaurant they always feel the need to seat people literally right next to you? -_- Kinda like that guy that always parks their car right next to you in a 95% empty lot. Like wtf? Conclusion: Fantastic Burmese food with great service and a nice location. Highly recommended. **I'm actually somewhere in that episode. Hmmm...

Yelp
Food was served really fast, like less than 10mins of ordering. The dishes can be more flavorful and less oily. Wouldn't recommend the dessert - it's oily and did not have enough jackfruit/ flavor. Ambience is good but the seats are too close by, with little or no privacy. Wanted to try something authentic and popular. Server recommended black pepper chicken but it wasn't unique. Have definitely had better Burmese food in other locations.

Yelp
Good food. Eggplant garlic is excellent. Like the lettuce wrap. Garlic noodles is ok. Lots of vegetarian options.Bit pricey!

Yelp
I've been here a few times and it's been 5/5 great food every time. My favorites are the tea leaf salad, string beans, and palatas with chicken. The Nan Gyi Curry Chicken is also a good source of carb and protein if that's what you're feeling. Perfect for family style meal with friends. It's also located in a plaza, so plenty of parking. There's usually no wait for weekday dinners.

Yelp
My friend and I met up for dinner at Burma Choice. This is my first time dining here. My friend is a regular here. It's a pretty popular place. Plenty of parking available. The ambiance is modern, clean, and has mood lighting. I don't remember if any music was playing as we were talking and catching up the whole time. We ordered several dishes to share. Crispy Pork Belly: Thinly sliced and deep-fried crispy pork (4/5). It came with a mildly spicy dipping sauce. Tasty dish. Tea Leaf Salad: Romaine lettuce, fried yellow beans, garlic chips, sesame & sunflower seeds, peanuts, tomatoes and jalapenos all tossed with fermented green tea leaf dressing (5/5). I love the different textures, flavors, and crunch in each bite. Basil Lemongrass Chicken: Stir-fried chicken breast with soy sauce, fish sauce, snap peas, red bell pepper, lemongrass, basil, garlic, and chili (4/5). Tender thin slices of chicken breast. The sauce was good too. Burmese Shrimp Curry: Curry cooked with onion, garlic, tomatoes, topped w/Jalapenos (3.5/5). Different type of curry but I am glad I tried it. The shrimp were good sized and not overcooked. The sauce was not as thick as I would have thought for a curry. Our waiter recommended this...Nan Gyi Thoke: Rice Noodle with coconut chicken curry sauce, hard boiled egg, Pea powder, fresh and fried red onions, wonton chips & lime leaves (4/5). The rice noodles were similar to potato noodles, which I recently had which were soft and chewy. All the ingredients were mixed together and were very tasty. Again, it had that texture thing and crunch that was appealing. The service was nice and friendly. They were very attentive and kept checking in to see if everything was alright. But not in a disruptive or annoying way. I'll be back.

Yelp
A good spot for Burmese flavors, and our meal there was enjoyable overall. We ordered the palata with chicken curry dip, crispy pork belly, garlic noodles, and tea leaf salad. The palata--a flaky, buttery roti--was excellent, and it paired perfectly with the rich curry dip. It was so good we ended up ordering a second round. The crispy pork belly was another standout: flavorful, crispy on the outside, yet juicy on the inside, with a decent portion size. It went well with both noodles and rice. The tea leaf salad was interesting and had a unique flavor profile (earthy and slightly bitter), adding a nice variety to the meal. The garlic noodles, however, were a bit underwhelming on their own; they lacked flavor but tasted better when paired with the pork belly. We'd definitely come back to try some of the other dishes.

Yelp
So happy that I found this Burmese place in my area. The food is good. Tea leaf salad was yummy and the Burmese house noodles was good with their spicy sauce. The place wasn't packed when we met but there were some people around. The waiters were attentive and food came out very fast. Love the art work that they have on the walls and the lights in the ceiling Will definitely go back here.

Yelp
Super solid Burmese food in the South Bay! We ordered takeout (via ChowNow) from here for a late lunch, and got about 4 items for 4 people which was just about right. What we ordered: + Tea Leaf Salad (4/5) ($18): I'd imagine this to be better in store - the portion felt pretty small, but maybe it was just an illusion from the box it was in. The salad was super flavorful though, loved all of the different textures from the toppings! + Burma Choice Noodle (4/5) ($18): A flavor blast! Wasn't very spicy, super umami and savory. The lemon helped to balance it and add a bit of acidity! + Black Pepper Beef (4/5) ($20): Super tender beef! I thought the snap peas were a nice touch. The black pepper flavor wasn't as strong as I typically enjoy however. + Salt & Pepper Tofu (4.5) ($14): Fav item out of everything! Of course, it wasn't crispy by the time we go to eating it. But, the texture was still a bit crunchy and the seasoning on the tofu was soo good! Don't forget to order some coconut rice to accompany your main entrees, it's pretty good here too :)

Yelp
Been here before and though it's not the most amazing restaurant, I do enjoy the tea leaf salad. I also had my dog with me so wanted somewhere with outdoor seating . We ordered tea leaf salad, chicken palata, and salt and pepper calamari. Got thru 3/4 of the tea leaf salad and 1/2 of the palata when I found a (hopefully not pube) hair and tried to flag down the server because we immediately lost our appetite and wanted to cancel the calamari. We found the hair same time calamari was brought out so they said they don't think they could cancel it, we understood because supplies was used and we were willing to pay it, BUT the thing that bothered us was they said "you guys should have told us about the hair earlier" ... like what, how? We literally found it right now. They also did not even remove the palata off of our bill, which was the bare minimum. We didn't argue but vowed to never come back and leave a word of warning. The cherry on top was they brought us box to box up the calamari AND also a box for the pube-y hairy palata ... like I'm sorry? You want us to take that home to eat ? Ay yi yi And before you come at me, my dog is white so no it's not dog hair.

Yelp
Lunch vs. Dinner My lunch was fabulous. Our dinner was beyond horrible. I asked for a table for 4, but there was only 2 of us. Still put down everything for 4. I knew we would need extra room for purses and whatever we brought each other. Burmese Curry Chicken- chicken thigh and all fat. No flavor. To make it the best, you put the potato on your fork and dip it in the bowl. Garlic Noodles - no flavor. Noodles are like ramen noodles. We tried another noodle dish that we had to return. The man that asked about it told us that the noodles were not cooked. They very much were gummy. We had a glass of white wine and red wine. We had to leave to get better. We went to another restaurant so I could actually eat what was ordered.

Yelp
All the dishes we ordered here were *chef's kiss* Fried Salt and Pepper Tofu - The light and crispy batter on this soft tofu paired with the sweet chili sauce was delicious. It also has a little kick from the jalepenos. Palata with Chicken Dip - The palata was crispy and flaky on the outside and bouncy inside. The chicken curry dip was tender and had a refreshing coconut flavor to it. Sesame Tofu - It's like orange chicken but with tofu! Really tasty! The orange slices were there for decoration but not necessary. Honey-Glazed Walnut Shrimp - Probably my favorite dish! The shrimp were lightly battered and covered with a sweet creamy mayonnaise sauce. Burma House Noodle with Tofu - SUPER flavorful and very saucy. The noodles were the star of this dish. They were very al dente, bouncy, and fun to chew! I definitely recommend trying this! Rainbow Salad - I'm not really a salad person but this salad has a nice blend of many ingredients and came with rice noodles. It's a fresh, tart salad! The service here was excellent! It was crowded inside so they sat us outside and adjusted the umbrella so the sun wasn't in our eyes. Even though we were one of the few tables sitting outside, they still came and checked up on us a few times to make sure we had enough water and that everything was good. I will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
This review is based on my entire party of three's opinion. We ordered the Burma house noodles with beef, Nan gyi thoke noodles, Burmese curry with pork, crispy pork belly, a side of coconut rice, and a side of jasmine rice. Overall, there were some dishes that tasted good but some that were just "okay" and not really worth the price. You can see the break down below: 1. House noodles - this was probably the best dish we got and it was very flavorful. The noodles were Al dente, which could be good or bad depending on personal preference 2. Nan gyi thoke - very lacking in flavor, and only came with two pieces of chicken. I think the dish could have used a stronger curry base or more curry/seasoning. After mixing everything together the table all agreed that the flavor was very light and the dish tasted bland. 3. Curry with beef - very good, the curry soup is more liquid-y than most but that's not a complaint just something to keep in mind. 4. Coconut rice - the rice itself tasted undercooked as it was still hard/dry feeling but the flavor was good 5. Crispy pork belly - good no complaints. Given the price we paid for everything ~$100 with tax and tip, we felt like it was just an okay experience food-wise. Service was good.

Yelp
Burma Choice is tucked away in a San Jose strip mall, but definitely worth checking out if you've never had Burmese food before. Without oversimplifying the cuisine, I'd say it feels like a fusion of Indian, Thai, and Chinese flavors--which makes sense geographically. For drinks, I went with the Burma Dream, which tasted a lot like a mango lassi--super sweet but enjoyable. For apps, we got the lettuce wraps and spring rolls. The lettuce wraps were a fan favorite and disappeared quickly, while the spring rolls were pretty average. For mains, we ordered the Burmese eggplant curry (a little too salty for my taste), the Burmese curry chicken (not super impressive), and a fried rice. One thing I'm never a fan of is when restaurants charge extra for a small bowl of jasmine rice--especially when entrées are already ~$20. Feels like that should just be included, but maybe that's just me. Overall, we had plenty of food (4 entrées and 2 apps for 6 people), but I wouldn't say it was the best value. That said, the staff was friendly, and the ambiance was decent, so still a good spot to try if you're curious about Burmese food!

Yelp
My favorite Burmese restaurant closed down, so I've been on a search for another great tea leaf salad, and I think I've found it! Burma Choice is located in a shopping plaza with plenty of parking. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Came on a Saturday afternoon, and we were seated right away. We started off with the Palata with Chicken Curry Dip. The palata is cut into triangles and served with a small bowl of coconut chicken curry dip. There were very large pieces of chicken in it, which I wish were a little smaller for ease of dipping and eating with the palata, but overall the dip itself was tasty. I really enjoyed their Tea Leaf Salad! Fresh, colorful, and delicious, this is what I'll be back for! Consists of romaine lettuce, fried yellow beans, garlic chips, sesame and sunflower seeds, peanuts, tomatoes, and jalapenos tossed with a fermented green tea leaf dressing (the best part!). I love a good eggplant dish, and their Eggplant Garlic comes with a generous portion! They cook it in a wok, so it has that perfect texture and is mixed in a tasty garlic sauce. We also got the Garlic Noodles (can you tell I like garlic?), and these actually come with a sauce on the side that changes the flavor the more you add to it. These were good but not a favorite. Will probably try a different noodle dish next time!

Yelp
Nice food! Got the Fiery Swai and the mango tofu and the coconut swai(not shown). Coconut swai and mango tofu were a bit on the sweet side for me but fiery swai was tasty and had a good kick! Food came out quick and service was exceptional.

Yelp
Very good food and pretty fast service. Came here for dinner on Friday and the place was busy throughout the evening. Our waitress gave good recommendations and took time to help us pick out the food. We had roti type of bread and rainbow salad, plus eggplant curry and fish stir fry. All are very delicious.

Yelp
We went here on a random Thursday evening on drive home from LA to SF and found that this place was quite roomy. Well, in regards to SF restaurant standards. There were tons of tables and the service was fast. But, we don't know what this place looks like on the weekends. With that said, we got the tea leaf salad, the samusa soup, garlic noodles, coconut rice, and the sesame beef. All of it was delicious! I would say that if there was anything that I didn't have to get again, it would be the garlic noodles. But that was probably just personal preference (and my preference is for Vietnamese/SF-style garlic noodles). If there's anything I always recommend at any Burmese restaurant are the tea leaf salad and the samusa soup. I go to Burmese restaurants a lot and there are a lot of options here in the Bay Area but it's clear that this location in the South Bay is probably the best options for Burmese food in the area. Beware that at night, their restaurant is hard to find as their signage is not lit (as of Dec 2024).

Yelp
Overall I like Burma Choice and have enjoyed some really delish items here. However, on multiple occasions there have been disappointing practices/experiences that have kept it from being five stars in my mind. To me, it would be about 3.5 stars. The staff are all friendly and welcoming but sometimes forgetful with things like refilling water glasses or bringing beverages that were ordered. I feel like I've also waited a while for the check to be collected, etc. They used to have a 18% gratuity that I missed the first time I came here and then ended up adding a 20% tip on of that. The experience left a bad taste in my mouth so I made sure to be aware of it for next time. I would have been happy to pay it but would have appreciated being informed. They seem to have changed the policy because I didn't see it on the check during a recent visit. In any case, the food is really yummy as I mentioned above. I've ordered the coconut rice and garlic eggplant or the garlic eggplant with prawns on two separate occasions and also the rainbow salad (mixed at the table). The salad was so good that I plan to just get this from now on.

Yelp
I came here for the first time and didn't know what to expect. The area was very nice and had lots of tables. I came an hour and a half before closing and I didn't feel rushed which was nice. Our server provided a lot of suggestions for us to try which we were so grateful for. I tried the honey walnut shrimp, house noodles, chili beef, and even tried the curry appetizer. Everything was so tasty and vibrant. The chili beef had a nice level of spice, not too hot, which I enjoyed. The noodles were good I wish we could add spice to it. For dessert we tried the mango sticky rice and wow I couldn't stop thinking about it, definitely a must try.

Yelp
I've been coming here for 2+ years now and it always satisfies my Burmese food craving! My recommendations from the menu: Samosas - crunchy on the outside and really good soft filling. The sauce is light and delicious. Nan Gyi Thoke - This is my go-to entree. I love the coconut curry sauce. I do think it could be spicier so I recommend asking for added spice (medium-hot). If you handle spice well, you should be able to handle it hot. Honey Glazed Walnut Shrimp - SOOOO GOOD. I finally tried this one for the first time recently and as someone who loves shrimp and sweet things, I wish I would have tried this sooner. Eggplant Shrimp with Garlic Sauce - Comforting and the eggplant is cooked really well. The sauce is savory and well balanced. Service: The wait staff has always been super courteous and the food comes out pretty quickly after you order. During the dinner rush, you may experience a short wait to be seated, but we never mind waiting. Ambiance: The restaurant has warm lighting and decor that creates a homey feel. They also tend to decorate for some holidays which adds to the charm! It's a nice option for a date night meal.

Yelp
This place was surprisingly good! My sister-in-law had been telling us about it for a while, and since it's so close to home, we finally decided to check it out. We ordered takeout, and everything we tried was really tasty. We had the honey walnut prawns, mango salad, shrimp pineapple fried rice, mango tofu, and crispy pork belly, and each dish hit the mark. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back to dine in sometime soon.

Yelp
We haven't had Burmese food in a minute; especially since our neighborhood spot (Kyusu) closed down. While in the area, my husband noticed this place and decided to get take-out. He ordered our favorites - tea leaf salad, Burmese curry beef, samosas, and coconut rice. We were disappointed.... The salad lacked flavor (salt maybe?) and it especially lacked spice (no peppers were included). All other dishes fared the same. To be fair, we were hungry so it did its job, but I think we'll try another place next time.

Yelp
This was my first time trying this place and I was a bit underwhelmed. For reference, I have only been to one other Burmese spot before which was a restaurant up in SF, so perhaps my comparison is unfair. We got the tea leaf salad, garlic noodles with chicken, and the Burma crispy chicken. The food was okay, but the servers were friendly and attentive. Tea leaf salad (3/5): this was a pretty average salad, not too flavorful in my opinion. I liked the different textures in the salad. Garlic noodles with chicken (2.5/5): I really wanted to like this dish, but it also lacked flavor. We barely touched this dish, and I ended up taking it home and adding salt and chili oil which helped a lot. Burma crispy chicken (4/5): I surprisingly liked this dish! The chicken was crispy and the sauce had a slight sweetness, reminiscent of a fancier orange chicken from Panda Express. Overall, I probably wouldn't return on my own accord, but would be down to try this spot again if any of my friends really wanted to.

Yelp
Ah, this is tough. I'm half Burmese, and grew up with some really good home cooks within my extended family. Haven't found any place in South Bay that can top their cooking, but this place is not bad, and it is near my house. If rating just for the food, I'd give this restaurant 3 stars. I'm adding a star simply for being a Burmese restaurant in the area (huge plus in my book!), as it can be quite hard to find Burmese food anywhere! My husband and I ordered their samosa, palata with dip, nan gyi thoke (chicken curry noodle), garlic noodles, and fish chowder noodle soup (mohinga). Mohinga is a personal favorite dish of mine, and it wasn't too bad here. I also thought the samosa and palata were pretty good. I likely wouldn't order the garlic noodles or the nan gyi thoke again. Ambience feels a bit like the ambience you'd find at a Thai restaurant -- good for going out for a casual date night, or out with coworkers. Staff is attentive, but not necessarily the most polished. Overall, I would highly recommend this for anyone who either isn't Burmese or hasn't had too much Burmese food. For folks who are Burmese or who are very familiar with the food, I'd say it's good enough to satisfy, but not the best. I'd personally return!

Yelp
Nice, modern restaurant with quick service. The interior felt warm and organized. I was seated immediately and provided water before I even sat down on a Friday evening. However, my water reached the bottom twice before it was refillled. The menu is extensive! The tea salad was refreshing and had some interesting crunchy kung beans in the mix. The basil lemongrass amassing was very flavorful and had a nice kick to it (not overwhelming, but may be too much for the faint hearted). It was breaded, which I didn't expect. Food leans a little on the salty side, but not overly salty. Paying was easy as they bring the card machine to the table. The bill can easily be split. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Parking was easy to find in a giant plaza.

Yelp
Service was attentive and friendly. Food came out quickly. Fried pork belly appetizer was perfectly crispy and mildly spiced with seasoning similar to Chinese five spice and came with a sweet chili sauce. Burmese beef curry with potatoes had tender meat chunks in a thinner style of sauce. Rainbow salad was just okay- not a lot of texture or flavor. Mohinga was also just okay, not the best I've had. Palata side was served with sugar, which was a surprise since it wasn't on the dessert portion of the menu. Burmese hot tea was good- just like my grandma used to make.

Yelp
We came to Burma Choice on a Sunday for lunch. The place is full of customers. The wait staff are so kind and patient, especially with kids. The Burmese food is excellent here, a mix of Thai and Indian cuisine. The pineapple fried rice, shrimp and Eggplant, and swai were our favorite dishes. Plenty of wok hei in the fried rice, eggplant was well cooked but not overly drenched in oil, and swai (white fish) were battered and fried with a tasty sauce. Sour and sweet notes are the flavors that stand out. Cocktails are also served, along with Italian sodas to add refreshment to the food. It's wonderful, we'll come back.

Yelp
The best curry of my life and the best palata EVER (I know they have something similar in Indian cuisine called Paratha). This is definitely something I would crave. This a nice, sit-down , dimly lit restaurant with quick service! Overall 5/5 stars in food, service, and ambiance! No complaints.

Yelp
Second time here. Food is pretty consistent. Ordered the black pepper beef, garlic noodles, and pineapple fried rice. Everything tasted great! Maybe I wish there would be a bit more rice in the pineapple fried rice. Service was excellent and fast. Hip and clean place. One of the few times that I didn't take the photo before digging in. Will definitely come back.

Yelp
I've never physically been to Burma Choice. I have only ever ordered from this restaurant via DoorDash, so I'm at a loss in regards to the ambiance of the restaurant. What I can tell you is the food is yummy. I was first introduced to Burmese food when I first moved to the Bay Area approximately a decade ago. The taste of the curry dishes and tealeaf salad had me immediately hooked. Since then, I've been on the search for Burmese dishes everywhere I go. When ordering from here, I've never been disappointed by taste or quality of the food. Evening the packaging is top notch. Honestly, I have no complaints about my orders from Burma Choice. Definitely want to make it a point to go to the actual restaurant one of these days.

Yelp
First visit so Burma Choice, interior is very modern, clean and tasteful. Nice atmosphere. Service very friendly and super fast delivery. My wife and I were not very hungry and ordered two dishes which were plenty, even took home an additional meal worth of food. We had the Garlic Noodles with Chicken which we both found a bit uninspired. However, our second dish was the Vegetable Kebat which we found full of character and very enjoyable. Certainly will return sometime to try other dishes.

Yelp
Our first time trying Burmese food. A close friend who is Burmese had recommended it and all the great reviews just reinforced it. The restaurant was packed. There was a wait for two when we arrived, but we were greeted quickly and sat outside on a bench to wait for our table. It wasn't long of a wait and allowed us to game plan our choices by reviewing the takeout menu. Once inside we were sat at a two top on the end furthest from the door. There's not much space between all of the tables so we sat pretty close to another couple who were seated right after us. We ordered the sesame chicken with jasmine rice, garlic noodles and eggplant shrimp. According to our friend (mentioned above) we ate Chinese food instead of Burmese and should have gone for the tea leaf salad, coconut noodle soup, or rainbow salad. The portions were a great size. We finished everything but the garlic noodles which weren't exactly what we were used to, but still good. We took the rest home. I was a little bummed when the server filled up the waters of the table inches from us but missed that ours were empty, but someone else came by within 5 mins to fill us up without us having to ask. Overall the service was good and food delicious.

Yelp
I live in this area for almost 3 years and never noticed this place. The food was absolutely amazing. We had the coconut noodle soup, their special house noodles, and the black pepper beef. All were amazing. The coconut noodle soup was similar to other Burmese places. The house special noodles with shrimps was basically pad Thai lol but it still tasted great. They did add a lot of shrimp so a plus! The black pepper beef was the star of the meal! It was sweet and salty. A perfect combination. The house hot sauce mixed with the black pepper beef was perfection! The service was great. They came check on us often and cleared each plate as we finished them. The space has plenty of tables but I did notice that they get packed really quick. They also offered patio seatings as well.

Yelp
We had high hopes for Burma Choice, but the experience was a letdown. The noodles (Nan Gyi Thoke) were overcooked, soggy, and oddly bland, lacking any real flavor. The tea leaf salad, which should have been refreshing, had an unpleasantly bitter taste something wasn't right with the fermented dressing. The tofu (sweet chili tofu) was passable, but it was served with watered-down, store-bought Thai sweet chili sauce. Everything else was overly sauced and unbalanced. To make matters worse, the family seated next to us had a Pomeranian in their lap inside the restaurant, with the dog even touching/on the table--a huge health code violation, especially since animals (other than service animals) are not allowed in restaurants in Santa Clara County. The staff didn't intervene, which was surprising and off-putting. On top of that, the family made rude comments about needing our table, adding to an already disappointing experience. The place was packed, and I can't understand why. We left feeling disappointed and slightly disgusted. We won't be returning.

Yelp
We ordered Shrimp Rolls, Tea Leaf Salad, Chicken Curry, and Garlic noodle. The Tea Leaf Salad was tasty with a food mix of texture with nuts and vegetable. Best dish of the four that we ordered. Shrimp Rolls was also tasty. Good but nothing special. Chicken Curry has a light Curry taste with lots of sauce and tasty. An interesting iteration of Curry. The biggest disappointment was the garlic noodle that had very little flavor or fatlic taste. Will try again if I am in the area but not yet at a level that I would go out of the way for.

Yelp
Stopped by Burma Choice on the way to a show and boy are we glad we decided to try this place. Let's get into it.. Ambiance - The interior of this restaurant is decent sized and nicely decorated in the dining area. Burma Choice is suitable for couples or large groups. We were sat within 10 minutes for a table of two while a party of 14 were also being seated with a similar wait. Service - The service at Burma Choice was quite good. They came quickly to take our order, the food was delivered quickly (I was shocked at how quickly our dinner came), and the wait staff were good about refilling water glasses as well. Overall, no complaints at all when it comes to the service. Food - The food was great! My wife had the fiery chicken (had a small kick) and I got the eggplant shrimp w/ garlic sauce. Both entrees had a generous helping of food. My plate came with 6 or 7 good-sized shrimp and what felt like an entire eggplant diced up into my dish. The sauce was good and both the eggplant and the shrimp were quite flavorful. I tried a small bite of the fiery chicken and it was just as good. 5 stars for the entrees we had. From top to bottom, this was a great introduction to Burmese cuisine and we're very glad we tried this place out. I'd definitely return to try some of their other tasty-sounding offerings in the future.
