We bought a cookie and a croissant, and there were delicious!! We love them! The only issue was the coffee... the flavor left a lot to be desired. But for pastries, it's a very good option!!

Google
Burney’s Sweets and More has a solid reputation for its desserts, cakes, donuts, ice cream, and, most notably, its glazed croissants. We made a special trip across town, excited to try them, but the experience left us with mixed impressions. The biggest frustration? The coffee setup. They don’t offer real sugar—only sugar substitutes. Thinking it might just be missing from the counter, we asked, only to be told they simply don’t have it. For a place that puts so much effort into their sweets, this seemed like an odd and disappointing omission. As for the glazed croissants, they’re not actually croissants in the traditional sense. Instead of flaky, layered pastry, they’re made from donut batter shaped like croissants. It’s a creative and visually appealing twist, but not what we expected. If you’re imagining a traditional French-style croissant with a glaze, you won’t find it here. The service was polite but not particularly warm. The woman who helped us was friendly in the way that’s more about Southern politeness than genuine hospitality—obligatory rather than welcoming. Burney’s certainly has its appeal, but if you’re going out of your way for a specific experience, it’s worth knowing what to expect.

They did an AMAZING job on my son's Pokémon birthday cake! The strawberry cake was delicious and everyone loved it. They were easy to work with and helped me out last minute. I wish I knew the cake decorators name so I could shout her out..she was awesome! I would definitely recommend Burney's for your next cake! Update: The cake decorators name is Quan. She's amazing and easy to work with!👏🏽

Finally got to visit today for the first time after trying their desserts a few times at work. We got a variety of items (muffin, croissants, brownie, lemon bar) and they were all incredible. Everything was delicious, fresh and good looking. Prices were very good too.

Delicious assortment of donuts, croissants and treats. We especially loved the cinnamon twist and the chocolate filled croissant.

If you have a sweet tooth and you need to have that sweet craving taken care of, they can do it. Very sweet stuff! Good though

Google
This is an example of quality baking and outstanding flavor. 1. Red velvet was okay. 5 2. Chocolate chunk cookie was semi-sweet and soft. 7 3. Peanut butter chocolate mini cake was delicious! 10 4. The croissant was the most moist and I should have gotten more than one. 10

First off, the bakery items themselves are great. I have no issues with them. It's the cafe orders that's the problem. I've been a barista for about seven years, and so I got excited when I heard about a café/dessert parlor nearby. I have tried the coffee and food here three times. I usually order the same thing: a large oat latte with some sort of syrup. It's simple, so I was surprised when the first few times I ordered, the latte was essentially tasteless. I realized paying for the syrup is not efficient because I don't think it's possible to truly get a flavored latte here unless you ask for extra pumps, and even then, the order might still be wrong unless you want to hover around the café ensuring the syrup is being added or the right milk is beind used. The baristas usually take orders by mouth and I'm not sure if that has something to do with why it's always been wrong, but that could be something. Both times, I tasted the latte and decided to just add sugar. As a barista, I don't personally make it a point to have anyone remake a drink but I will ask for a refund if I'm not in a rush. I want to emphasize that both times, I did not care to refund or have the drink remade because while the syrup was lacking, everything else about the latte was fine. I just added sugar and chalked it to the game, as I didn't care that much. But today, I decided to go while I had more time and specifically asked the barista to pump the syrup into a separate cup. She asked me how many pumps, I asked for four. I figured that would solve the issue, I could add it myself. But when I got home, I noticed that this time, the latte wasn't a latte. 😭 The milk, when steamed, should take on a creamier texture and there should be froth from the steam wand. I opened my cup, and y'all. This is literally either an Americano or coffee. I'm not going to lie, I was in shock. I had issues before but they were never this blatant. I poured the latte into a separate cup just to see if I was crazy and it's like I was watching dishwater filter into the cup, I legitimately had to consider going back and asking what that was just because when I went to check the syrup, there was a DRIBBLE. I honestly had to wonder if they have beef with me. Because why is it that every time I go there, the bakery items are on point and I'm going to make the grand assumption that it has little to do with the front of house, and everything to do with the pastry chefs. But the baristas? Man. Oat milk, even if it's an alternative milk, should never look this color or thin if it's been steamed with espresso. Both times I got a latte with alternative milk before, it was properly steamed at the very least. So I know this is just a consistent issue, café drinks either have something missing or something wrong. Or maybe the espresso machine pumped out more water than milk, I really don't know. If you order coffee here, specifically espresso drinks not just regular brewed coffee, make sure to triple check your drink and get it corrected because this is as absolutely not a well-done latte by any means. I took a video of it being poured and it was so runny and thin, as an experienced barista that isn't even picky and WILL drink most things as long as the basics are there, I legitimately feel like there needs to be more training on café drinks. I spat it out so fast that it wasn't even funny. I don't even leave negative reviews usually, but wow. Tip + coffee + alt milk + flavor prices. Baristas have it rough, but if I was patient, pleasant, and paid for an order, it should come out right. You tell me if that looks watery or like steamed milk to you.

Yelp
If you're looking for fresh desserts this is the place. If you're looking for the perfect portion this is the place! If you're looking to wow your family and friends- this is the place! I really enjoyed the service and the feel of this place. While it was super busy everyone was so helpful!

Yelp
Have you ever tried a croissant made into a donut? The cronut was amazing! Jelly filled and glazed on the outside. This was a great treat for an account and you can most certainly buy by the dozen. This was more condensed than a donut would be but just as tasty. They offer gluten free options as well as cakes and bakery items.

Yelp
I received a coupon via mail. Staff was friendly. Tried the croissants (stuffed). It was good. I wonder if when baked vs when purchased plays a determining factor. The establishment itself was clean, light, and airy. Roughly, $11.00 for 6 items. I'd consider trying again. Bakery: 3.75

Yelp
The cupcake ice cream is very good. Likewise for the chocolate buttercream glazed croissant.

Yelp
Ordered a 1/4 sheet cake and 12 cake pops. I placed the order over the phone. My only instructions were to make it pretty for a baby girl shower. Well they totally nailed it! Not only pretty, but the quality of the cake was top-notch. This was at the Cameron NC. store by the Walmart. Ty Burney's !!

Yelp
Croissants + donuts = the most delicious and flaky treats. Well-priced and fresh with so many flavors. My favorite is to get their day old dozen/half dozen for half price. They also have cakes, pies, and fritters too.

Kalyn R.

Yelp
We used Burneys for our wedding and they did not disappoint! They made our wedding cake perfectly and we ordered croissants to go with it. They were super helpful with choosing what to order and gave lots of good ideas.

Yelp
My kid was craving donuts after lunch and the nearest one we found that was open was this spot! It's located in a plaza, so parking isn't a problem! We opened the door and was instantly greeted by the employees. I'm pretty huge on that! Haha. It was clean inside and smelled so delicious! Their case was filled with so many different kinds of donuts! They even had other kinds of different desserts in the other case! Everything looked so delicous and fun! We ordered: the cinnamon and sugar donuts. the sprinkled pink donut And my favorite, the pumpkin cream cheese donut!! It was so light and fluffy!! The pumpkin flavor was delicious! I was so sad I took the last one! This is definitely our go-to spot for donuts or any sort of sweet treat! Highly recommend!

Yelp
The pecan pie was good. If you're familiar with Costco's pecan pie, it wasn't overly sweet like that with candied pecans. However, it was expensive for a mini pie. I could've nearly gotten a pumpkin pie at Costco for the price. I would've preferred they had pie by the slice. An entire one is a better value, but too much for me or any friends I dine with. The service was ok. The more gregarious sociable employee didn't know how to ring me up (seems no one buys the minis). The shy one did, but avoided eye contact. When I complimented their Zelda Breath of the Wild shirt and asked if they'd played the new game, they perked up. It's in a dreary old strip mall. As you can probably tell from the picture taken in a car, there's nowhere to sit. With just a few customers, there wasn't space to take pictures. I was in the area for lunch, but wouldn't likely make the drive back from Apex unless I needed a whole pie.

Yelp
A great bakery tucked away on Falls. I have frequented the Southport location many times. I stopped in here recently and had the best cheese danish ever and a delicious french roast coffee to go with it. I love Burney's and wish I lived closer so I could go all the time. The staff was super friendly as well!

Yelp
I've heard many things about Burney's and their famous glazed croissants over the years. I'm so glad I was finally able to stop by! The person working helped me tremendously when it came down to narrowing my choices. They were super friendly and knowledgeable about literally everything they had to offer. I went with half a dozen assorted glazed croissants - I think I chose blueberry, raspberry, a couple Bavarian cream, chocolate, and a maple bacon. I'm a big fan of Bavarian cream so that was probably my favorite. I would say the maple bacon was my least favorite, but they were all pretty tasty. We couldn't eat all 6 in a day, so I kept them in the fridge for another day or two and popped them in the microwave for a few seconds when I wanted one. So good! Definitely recommend this (if you're like me and need to save the left overs) so they don't get stale as quickly. Can't wait to come back again to try more of their offerings!

Yelp
Croissant? Yes please! Filled croissants?? Absolutely!! Glazed, filled croissants??? Shut the front door!!! My keto diet went completely off the rails today. Thanks a lot Burney. Good thing this place is two hours from my house.

Yelp
Ordered a cake for a birthday - easy, quick pick up with great service. The cake was delicious.

Yelp
What a find! Went to Burney's because they sent out a free coffee coupon and they are in the JoAnn fabrics plaza off Falls of Nuese. Upon entering you see a beautiful display of doughnuts and cupcakes. On the shelves around the store are beautiful cookies, cakes, macarons, muffins and much more! I wanted to taste one of everything! I ended up having a peppermint flavored coffee and a cranberry/orange muffin- the muffin was super moist, whole cranberries and tons of flavor. The coffee was hot and perfect. The workers were very friendly and informative. Everything was labeled and the signs had all the prices easy to read. I can't wait to go back and try something else ! (And get another muffin)
google avatar

Yelp
A great bakery with tons of options! From cakes, macarons, croissants, donuts, pastries, ice cream and more. We had glazed croissants and coffee and a muffin and they were delicious. The muffins were delicious just a bit small for the price, but the coffee was great and they have many syrup flavors. The best looking thing was a 15 layer fudge cake and they have another flavor as well. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful I highly recommend to stop by for a quick snack or grabbing a dozen pastries to bring to someone.

Yelp
One of my co-workers brought in doughnuts from Burney's Sweets to share with the office. I'm not sure what all the flavors were, but they all looked and smelled wonderful. I tried a little piece of the Thanksgiving colored doughnut. It was a cake doughnut that kind of tasted like lemon with frosting and sprinkles. It was a yummy treat!

Yelp
I'm not really big on sweets but this place is totally addictive. First visit was 5 stars all across the board. The customer service was friendly and A1. She took the time to explain various things to me and offered a sample. The pastries I picked out were amazing. I wish I had gotten more. Something I've since rectified. I have been back and each thing that I've tried has been delicious. Also, they sell cake slices, cookies, etc... The 15 layer chocolate cake and the caramel cake are pretty tasty. I've recently tried the honey bun and it was both good and bad. Good because it was quite delicious. Bad because I don't know if I ever want to get a little debbie's honey bun again lol. If you are in the mood for something sweet, I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
I came in with a fairly specific idea for my wife's custom birthday cake, and their specialist Gabby was stoked about doing something a little odd like this. Well, she certainly delivered! My wife loved it which is all that matters.

Yelp
Best hidden gem that I have found in a long time. If you haven't been please go, they have good carrot cake. Crescents that are flaky and fresh. They dip some of them in icing. The cookies had a bite but chewy middle. I loved my experience and I can't wait to return for more of there delicious sweet treats

Lesli V.

Yelp
I was looking forward to trying this bakery for the first time. Was very disappointed with the items I picked out. The look is very appealing but food is very bland.

Yelp
Came here with the husband over the weekend because it was a recommended shop on multiple websites and on yelp for having Paczki (Polish donuts). The shop is tucked away on the corner of a shopping center, and upon entry saw that it was pretty empty, but we came towards the afternoon. I was surprised to find that it didn't smell like a bakery, or at least nothing had been cooked recently. The display case was nice and organized and they had some delicious looking Pastries however, I was sad to find no paczki. I inquired about them to the staff who met me with very confused faces. They had never heard of this pastry and stated that their bakery does not carry it. When I stated that I had seen online that they did at one time, I was told that the picture was probably from another location as they are a franchise (the pictures of this particular pastry are on the Raleigh location on Yelp). Despite my disappointment I decided to purchase one of the cheese filled croissants and take it with me. I sampled it in my car - and found it to be quite wet. The dough was not like a croissant but more like a donut dough shaped into a croissant type pastry. There was a strange after taste with the pastry that was a bit off putting - honestly tasted like it had a lot of preservatives to keep it shelf stable. I'm sure they make these fresh, but something just wasn't right about it. Too wet and an odd chemical flavor. I probably will not go back to visit as they had nothing special that I can't get closer to my house. Still very sad that they were confused about the pastry I was looking for and made it seem like they've never carried it before, despite what picture show online. Otherwise, the shop was cute, clean, and had a decent selection if you live in that area.

Yelp
All of the treats are delicious! My favorite is the turtle and hubby loves maple bacon. A little on the pricy side and if you get a few- the price adds up quickly!!
google avatar

Yelp
We made a special trip here when I learned they had Paczki, which is a Polish pasty only available around Fat Tuesday. I was surprised that they had paczki, as it's hard to find around here, so asked where they owner was from and was told Chicago. I knew they'd be good when I heard that! The employee who greeted us was happy and smiling who asked if we'd been there before. We hadn't and were offered a sample of their glazed croissants, which is a specialty there. Oh, boy, was it ever good!! They also make them in a mini size, thankfully, and we got had to get some. Paczki, btw, is kind of like a jelly doughnut only the dough is more eggy and flavorful and this bakery has about of dozen different fillings to choose from. We got about ten in different flavors, some for us and others to share and they were delicious. The pastries and cakes all looked delicious too! We definitely want to return. They have several locations in NC, but unfortunately not in Durham where we live. Oh, well, just another reason to heard over to Raleigh!
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered the king cake and had a slice of the 15 layer chocolate cake. I'm from Louisiana and this king cake hit the spot. I wouldn't say it was exactly like home but I'd give it a solid 8.5/10! I think it just needed a little more cinnamon throughout the cake. But the 15 layer cake was perfection. I would definitely order an entire one of those.
google avatar

Natalie P.

Yelp
Everyone was impressed with the quality of the cake (taste and appearance). I got strawberry with vanilla icing. I paid extra for decoration. They were able to make disc golf discs as decoration. All done out of buttercream because they don't use fondant. It was beautiful! I added my own disc golf net, candles, and sign. The football cookie was also from there. My boyfriend and everyone else was impressed. Great experience. Was about $82 for two layers of 10" cake which is for roughly 10-12 people.
google avatar

Jason H.

Yelp
I like this shop go every few months, it's out of my way but excellent so I stop by. Today though I was shocked when the price had gone up on my order by 10 dollars - I want this place to do good, but $24 for a doughnut combo box has priced it out of my ability to be a patron anymore. I almost made them put them back, but figure it's my last hoorah here - I might as well enjoy.
google avatar

Ron W.

Yelp
I've been in sort of a croissant kick for a while now and the glazed croissants at Burney's may be to blame! This local outpost for a Wilmington, NC bakery is still pretty new and dished out smallish, glazed croissants in a variety of flavors! Start with a basic glazed and then go on to the more exotic flavors filled with lemon or topped with other options. It's all good! And Burney's is not just about croissants but is doing cakes and more. I'm not sure what exact style of baking they are doing but they've had more unusual items like paczki here which is pretty cool. Seating is minimal for dine-in but it's a good little spot for a sweet afternoon break.
google avatar

Carrington T.

Yelp
This place is a must! I picked up an assortment of filled and glazed croissants for my husbands birthday. We shared the apple, key lime, and maple bacon. They were each delicious, but the maple bacon was a stand out. This was the first maple bacon pastry I've tried that nailed the flavors. There are so many sweet and savory options that you can eat with a group that have different levels of a sweet tooth.

Yelp
My first of many times to come. I was looking for a bakery and my gps said this one was near. I am so glad that I came!!! The cashier noticed that this was my first time coming and gave me a free donut/croissant. Boy oh boy was it good!!! There were many desserts to choose from so although that donut:croissant started off first on my list, I was quickly distracted by all the many many desserts to choose from. I finally settled on a pumpkin cheesecake and what a great choice. It was the best pumpkin cheesecake I have ever had! For those who are vegan or no sugar they have desserts for you. The store is located right in the middle of a shopping plaza and parking is not an issue. The store was nice and clean. If you have an opportunity stop on by. You surely will not be disappointed!!!
google avatar

Stephen H.

Yelp
This is a good local bakery with friendly staff. The pastries were really good, everything was fresh and high quality. The size of the pastries were large, taste and full of flavor. My only compliant was, it is a tad pricey.
google avatar

Courtnay B.

Yelp
I had a coupon in the Go Play Save for a free glazed croissant and it was AMAZING! Will definitely be coming back for more.
google avatar

Alyssa C.

Yelp
There's nothing like walking in and being given a sample of their glazed croissant to make you want to try everything! The glazed croissant is something you never knew you needed before. The croissants are light and flaky and even taste good the next day (check out discounted day old baked goods on the shelves). The spinach and feta pie was also great. I got it warmed and enjoyed there with an iced coffee. Both items were delicious. The spinach and feta had the perfect balance of spinach, feta, and bread and was very filling and not heavy. I also got a strawberry croissant for later and again I was surprised as to how good it was the next day. While it is definitely pretty sweet the glazed croissant is still light and flakey. Can't wait to come back and try some of the other baked goods!
google avatar

Tamara W.

Yelp
I stand corrected. I went back again because my friend told me about what she got. I had the cake. It was devine. I do wish they had pineapple in it but it was delicious.
google avatar

Aakanksha S.

Yelp
Had to try the glazed croissants! Quite the assortment of flavorings to choose from, but I'm not sure you can go wrong--the plain glazed croissants themselves were heavenly. They even have mini sizes of everything if you're indecisive and your order is getting a little calorie heavy :P Covid-19 Note: They're currently limiting to 2 customers inside at a time. This is customers, not groups, so one person per group can go in and order so....figure out your order beforehand!
google avatar

Carmen C.

Yelp
The bake goods are delicious. Boston Cream Cheese is nice and moist but could add more filling. Customer service is great.
google avatar

Sookia S.

Yelp
So one of my coworkers introduced me to this bakery in Fayetteville. Since they were so far I was always able to resist he temptation to go and get treats. But surprise, they have a store in Raleigh. I know everyone loves their stuffed fried Croissants, but I love their savory stuff croissants and the cakes. I hope maybe they will make a Keto section. They have a nice selection of gluten free pastries. Today, was all about Easter treats for my son. They did not disappoint.
google avatar

Chloe R.

Yelp
This place is great! I have so far gotten lots of croissants and a slice of chocolate cheesecake and they where all delicious ( I didn't eat all of the croissants tho). My brother also works here as a baker so sometimes I just ask him to buy me something when he finishes his shift, which is great because I get delicious baked goods, but bad because I'm probably going to get fat. I have only been inside once and it is very cute inside and the workers where very friendly. only 3 people are allowed inside at a time due to COVID and they have a hand sanitizer stand right when you walk in.
google avatar

Jared W.

Yelp
Came on a Friday morning and got in and out quick for take out. Attempted to save some for later but they were so good that they got eaten in 1 sitting. Will be back!!
google avatar

Stephanie J.

Yelp
I first discovered Burney's in Southport so I was ecstatic to hear that they were bringing their addictive glazed croissants to Raleigh! The service here was friendly and I left with a 1/2 dozen (chocolate buttercream, bavarian, pineapple, blueberry, peppermint and apple cinnamon). Burney's is a must visit!
google avatar

Bridget G.

Yelp
I found this place online through the good yelp reviews and decided to give this a try. My sisters birthday is in a few days and I wanted to send something sweet to her. I called to place an order and they were super helpful with the whole process. Also offered delivery close to where my sister lives and the person helping me was so friendly as well! Highly recommend!!

Thomas H.

Yelp
I would like to say thank you so much for making my school reveal cake! It was delicious and everything turned out much better than I anticipated. We will be using y'all for further parties the cake was loved by everyone and I can't thank you enough!

Yelp
Pretty tasty spot! MY GPS had a hard time locating the shop and took my a bit of a roundabout way. They are in the plaza with the Office Depot and Joanne's. I think the easiest way to get here is right off of Falls of Neuse. They had a good variety of delicious looking baked goods. I went straight to the stuffed croissants since that seems to be what they are known for. As others have said they are like a glazed Krispy Kreme donut with filling. I tried out the raspberry, lemon, chocolate, and custard options! I think my favorite was the chocolate and custard. The fruit fillings were just too sweet on top of the already sweet pasty. The employees were friendly and took the time to explain to me what they are all about. I'll certainly head back in again if I'm in the plaza and craving something sweet!

Sue L.

Yelp
We ordered two pies for our Thanksgiving dinner. Pecan pie and Apple Crumble. At $28 + or pie, we expected a really good dessert experience. Neither pie was what we expected. The pecan pie did not have any of the gooey goodness that makes a really good pecan pie. It was dry and sorta tasteless. The apple Crumb had loads of apples, but no sugary, cinnamon flavor. And the crumble topping was hard, not sweet and buttery as we expected. Very disappointed in the pies, and when you factor in the cost, extremely disappointed! This was our first purchase at Burney's, and we will NOT be back.
google avatar

Jan K.

Yelp
This was our first time here... What I liked: Service was friendly and the decor looked very charming inside. What I didn't like: I got the Bourbon Butter Pecan Cheesecake, but it didn't suit my fancy. It had that brown sugar crumble topping that you'd expect on apple pies and some type of candied fruit within the cheescake. But I didn't sense any butter, there were just a few pecans in the topping, and definitely no bourbon... it was just a sweet cheesecake with texture and shy of authentic flavor. I'll give them another shot after the New Year's. Maybe I'll try one of those Eclair Bars I saw.
google avatar

David L.

Yelp
Swung by and had the plain glazed croissant. There was plenty of shared parking space outside. It's pretty spacious inside though there aren't too many tables. The glazed croissant itself had the texture of a Krispy Kreme donut than a flaky croissant..
google avatar

Carmelle A.

Yelp
Went here because they had a promo- free glazed croissants for national croissant day! Located in a shopping center with ample parking. Hidden on the side - at the very end on the side. The store itself looks very clean and they had a fantastic assortment of different baked goods. Many different flavors of glazed croissants: strawberry, cherry, lemon, turtle, maple bacon, etc. They also have cakes, donuts, macarons, cheesecakes and ice creams. It was one of those, my stomach is smaller than my eyes kind of moments. I wanted one of everything. The ladies helping behind the counter were very nice! I will be back.

Yelp
Burney's was definitely a sweet way to start our Saturday morning. When we arrived around 9AM we were initially a little worried because the display cases were pretty empty. But we learned that if they don't have a certain flavor in the case for the glazed croissants, then they can still fill them for you. We ordered 6 of the glazed croissants, all with a different filling because there are so many to choose from! We had the lemon, peanut butter, chocolate, bavarian cream, blueberry, and apple. Of the six, my favorites were the peanut butter, blueberry, and lemon. It helped that the peanut butter one had just come out super fresh and warm and they also were drizzled with chocolate on top. So rich and decadent. And then I really like the freshness that the blueberry and lemon flavors provided. We did notice that some of the flavors had way more filling than others. Our blueberry one was completely filled (which may have been why we liked it so much), but then we barely got any filling in the apple one. So the filling level can be inconsistent. We also ordered a chocolate eclair filled with bavarian cream. It was huge and also really good. And you get way more cream to dough than with the glazed croissants. I preferred the glazed croissants, but this is a good option for someone who likes a more cream and maybe not quite as sweet of an exterior. We also tried to order one of their apple fritters but unfortunately they were out and a new batch wasn't going to be ready any time soon. So we will definitely be back at some point to try it!

Yelp
We had a custom made birthday cake for a friend. The baker and staff were wonderful to work with, and even suggested what flavors went well together. The cake was beautiful, but more important, it was absolutely delicious. The cake was moist, the icing was like whipped cream, and the jam in-between layers put the cake over the top. I would highly recommend for custom cakes! Also, the large display of daily made baked goods has a lot to choose from, and are wonderful as well.

Yelp
Wow! First time at Burney's. They are new to Raleigh and have been open since February. When I walked in the manager was very friendly. I was offered a free mini glazed croissant. My LIFE was changed. If was like a doughnut, except lighter / fluffier. I then tried the honey bun. It was exceptional. It was a tad firmer than a traditional honey bun and had a lite coating of glaze. The combination was perfect. Burney's has lots of other treats that I look forward to trying.
