I've been to this bar many times but this time was the worst experience I've had there. On July 13 I went to this bar with a group of 6 to honor my friend PO Corder which me and him use to frequent this bar a lot. The service was terrible took forever to get a drink with 3 bartenders behind the bar at one point. Anytime I would go to the bar I had to wait a good amount of time just to be able to order a drink. There was times the bartender who wasnt busy just walked past me without acknowledgement. My friend ordered some Japanese liquor shots and it was zeroed out and charged as something else idk what that was about seem pretty weird to me. My friends closed their tabs no problem. When it was time for me to close my tab I had to wait one bartender left the bar as I had been standing there for about 10 mins and the other bartender walked to the other end of the bar and just started chit chatting with another customer. They both just blantly ignored me. I asked to close my tab and the bartender just gives me my card. I ask aren't I supposed to sign something and how am I supposed to tip. The bartender says dont worry about it it's already done. I told her thats not how that goes I didn't even get a reciept. She says it didn't print. I ask her to reprint it and she claimed she couldn't find it. The other bartender returns and I asked to speak with her. Instead of helping me she went to the defense of her coworker immediately stating you might have hit the wrong button on the card reader. In which I told her I never got one. I told her about the other bartender saying the tip was already done and I wanted a reciept because thats not how that works. Both bartenders began arguing with me at this time defending whatever was done. Eventually a reciept was printed off I was able to look at but for some reason couldn't keep. The bartender I was originally dealing with tipped herself with my card and without my signature. After mentioning and trying to converse with the bartenders to fix the problem because thats stealing they told me to leave. I told them to just keep the tip and me and my friend began to leave. As I was walking out the door the original bartender began yelling at me about the tip beging taken off. My friend got upset because we were half way out the door so what was even the point. Me and my friend were leaving and I still wanted a reciept so I went back in and asked for a reciept of the transaction. I was given one asked the bartender if she needed the copy because I would take a picture and give it back. She said she didn't know but took the reciept and took a picture of it herself and held it in her had. I had to ask for it back and then I left the bar. Use to love coming to this bar now I will probably stay away. Definitely dont want to get treated like im not wanted somewhere with attitudes and being stolen from by a bartender.

So, I'm so sad to have to do this. We are neighbors to burnhearta and have in the past so enjoyed this location. Not sure if things have changed or it was the Sunday evening bartender working, but we felt so unwelcomed and almost annoying to him. Mind you, we we were the only customers that walked in at around 10 pm. Ugh, so sad to say and annoyed that we were not very welcomed when the place was literally dead

Google
One of my all-time favorite bars in Milwaukee. Irish pub type vibe. Great beverage selection and service. I tried to go there every time I visit Milwaukee and will definitely return. Good value.

One of my favorite bars in Bay View - Meg, Hannah, Matthew, Courtney, Lisa (everyone honestly) are the kindest, warmest, most fun crew to be around. Love the bar and the humans there so much!

Google
This neighborhood bar has it all! We popped in while waiting for our table to be ready. The bartender was awesome! She was so sweet and funny. We had a “Dreamsicle” and a “I’m not a Taurus”. Both the cocktails were complex and balanced. They both had a level of tiki influence which really sold both of us. Also this place has a beautiful dim warm and welcoming atmosphere which I really love. I also love that there was no Tv.

Google
Fun neighborhood bar with lots of beer and cocktail options. If you're looking for a deal, there are $3 taps of Grain Belt and $3 mystery shots. Have fun!

Google
We have driven by many times and have always wanted to stop in. We stopped by for a quick drink or two before going to dinner. There is plenty of outdoor space for those warmer days, but since it was chilly out we went inside. Eclectic, classic, hometown bar feel on the inside. We ordered an old fashioned and one of the cocktails on tap, Hop Wop. Drinks were great and service was kind. We would love to stop by sometime in the summer and tray some more of the menu

Google
First time there for the Central Waters 20th anniversary and Black Gold. Both were excellent and the experience was fantastic. Staff was great and we had a wonderful time. I would go back here.

Yelp
This was such an unexpected place. It was amazing. We came here to wait for our reservation for valentines not knowing how romantic and heart-y everything was in the bar. I also LOVED how they had a mescal Negroni ON TAP!?!? Literally I thought that was brilliant and it was quite cheap for how good it was. The room is long but it feels perfectly intimate and every corner is well decorated and beautiful and elegant. I think this is a very cute gem for a snowy night.

Yelp
This place is chill, love that they have snacks and n/an options as well as great cocktails, board games and a pool table in the back! We brought some friends who were visiting from Austin, they loved the vibe and both ended up buying some super cozy Burnhearts shirts. Can't wait to start visiting the patio once the weather warms up, too!
google avatar

Yelp
We did not have food. Hence the four stars. But the drinks were good and the service was wonderful. We sat and played a game of scrabble. We had a very fun time and really enjoyed the vibe. I recommend the hot buttered rum to take the chill off on these cold winter days. We would definitely go back to hang out and have drinks.

Yelp
Burnhearts screams BAYVIEW! Nestled in an old 1960s home, this bar is eclectic and makes some of the best cocktails on the side of Lake Michigan! Come here any day of the week for a stiff drink, good conversation, and Wisconsin vibes.
google avatar

Celina B.

Yelp
Walking into this place is like walking into a gnome bar. Super cozy and feels like you are underground, with cozy animal and root decor to match. I was obsessed. They have pool, games, and cheap beers. I want to come back.

Yelp
We have friends that live in the area and they are regulars at Burnhearts, so they took us here while we were in town for a visit. Stopped in for a beer on a Sunday afternoon in April right after they opened for the day, so they weren't busy. Good dive bar with eclectic decor, good music, and a nice selection of beers on tap. Friendly & fun bartender. Nice patio outside for when the weather is nice. It's worth visiting just to check out the decor.

Yelp
Dope cocktail bar with divey vibes and lux drinks. The cozy interior might lead you to believe you're gonna be chuggin PBRs and pounding Fernet shots (and you sure can) but Burnhearts also has an amazing cocktail program with some of the most creative, well-balanced drinks in Milwaukee. Loved the Tanuki and the Strawberry Campari shots! Top notch bartenders with an amiable vibe round out a great experience! Cant wait to come back.
google avatar

Charley B.

Yelp
Cozy. Quaint. Cool. Hip. Friendly. Fun. I could go on, but I think you get the idea. They have an excellent beer selection. If you're not sure what you're looking for, the bartenders are happy to offer suggestions. Cocktails and shots are available, too. Please pace yourself.

Yelp
If you're looking for a cozy spot to grab a drink in Bay View, Burnhearts is definitely worth checking out! The atmosphere is laid-back and welcoming, and the bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable. They have a great selection of craft beers and cocktails, and the prices are reasonable. Check them out for a drink and some good conversation. Burnhearts is the perfect spot!

Yelp
Highlights/Lowlights 1) Chill, Relaxed Atmosphere 2) Fun Cocktails 3) Small Selection of Board/Card Games We love this BayView staple! Burnhearts is quite large with a bar in front and some tables, and then a big space in the back with more tables as well as a pool table. This is a great spot to grab a few cocktails with friends. The atmosphere is very chill/relaxed and casual. There are a few board and card games you can use while you are enjoying your drinks as well. There is a nice selection of unique cocktails. My cocktail had chai tea infused vodka and it was great! Staff is friendly and approachable. Highly recommend if you are looking for a casual, no frills place to grab a drink!

Yelp
We came in town later on the Sunday before Labor Day. We wanted to stop in based on reviews but thought we would be "one and done" with drinks or beer only. At the time of this review they have vegetarian pizza which is right up our alley. My Oktoberfest was on point and her mixed drink was even better than expected. For out of towners, we felt right at home and the bar staff was kind and helpful. We also felt like this is a very inclusive environment. While this is only off of one visit, this place sure hit the spot for us on a Sunday night!

Megan P.

Yelp
the bartender with the mustache is the best! Such a great maker of a traditional old fashioned. Have looked far and wide for a delicious rye old fashioned not Wisco style. Will was top tier. Constantly refilling drinks and always with a smile. definitely will return. Thanks will

Angela W.

Yelp
Local hipster bar. One pool table so I hope you're good at taking initiative and sharing. Bartender with the mustache is rude and the main reason why I will not be coming back. He spends way too much time chatting to the regulars or his friends. I think we stood at the bar for what felt like forever just waiting for him to acknowledge us. I really like the dreamsicle drink but don't like the rye-- he wouldn't make the drink without the rye. It was never a problem with any other bartender. You're better off saving your money and temper by trying another bar.

Yelp
Burnhearts is exactly what I want in a bar. It's cute, but it's not fancy. It's casual, but it's not a total dive. It's got a great drink menu, but the servers are willing to help you find something you will enjoy. There is plenty of cozy outdoor seating, but the inside is comfortable as well. Everything about Burnhearts is just...great. I have never had a bad experience coming here. My drinks are always delicious. I'm not a beer drinker, but the beer list is quite extensive. I go for the cocktails and they usually have some really interesting ones on the menu. The prices are comparable to other bars around the city, but definitely pricier than what you would pay at a true "dive bar." Definitely check this place out the next time you are looking to grab a drink in Bay View. It is easily one of the best bars in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Burnhearts is cool. The atmosphere is cool. It's hipster, but not unwelcoming. It's just the "right" amount of divey. The music is cool. You might get some old school punk, you never know. But you'll probably really like it. The drinks are cool, both in temperature and composition. You can have a craft cocktail or a fancy beer, or you can have a shot and PBR. Choose your own adventure. The staff is cool. But not in a mean high school way. They're professionals, after all. The neighborhood is cool. It's the 13th hottest hipster market in the US or something but people work too, so keep your voices down outside, ok? You know what's not cool? ME.

Yelp
Horrible service from a male bartender who got more than snippy as I tried to get his attention after no service for at least 15 minutes. Will never come here again

Yelp
First Off. This is my favorite bar. Anywhere. I have been coming here for many years. I am from Illinois and I love Milwaukee because of this bar. I had THE BEST visit 3/5/23 I have to ever had. Hannah is the BEST bartender I have ever had anywhere. I am recently married and she made my wife and I feel like this place is home and I was visiting my best friend I haven't seen in years. Go here. Anytime you can. The beer selection is great, everyone is always willing to talk to you and welcomes you into their conversations. I can't say enough about this place and I almost don't want to review it so I can keep this place to myself but I can't. It's amazing. Everything about it is amazing. I LOVE Burnhearts and I love the new bartender Hannah
google avatar

Yelp
Burnhearts is a great neighborhood bar, a Bay View staple. Awesome patio seating, lovely cocktails, and really quick service, especially considering how busy it was. I had the teaches of peaches cocktail and it comes with a PEACH RING! Drunk me couldn't have been happier. Be sure to check out Mitten Fest, it's a must-see outdoor festival in the middle of the cold Wisconsin winter. Always a good time!
google avatar

Rachel B.

Yelp
Found this lowkey bar so I decided I had to stop by! I really enjoyed that it was in the middle of a neighborhood. Felt very divey and relaxed. They had an interesting drink menu as well. My favorite part while being there was there pool table! I love playing a good game of pool while casually drinking.
google avatar

Yelp
Beer nerds rejoice at the mention of Burnhearts (myself included!). In terms of a loaded tap list, this place never disappoints. In fact, there are so many rare taps on their menu, I've had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming. And remember- if you see something you love on the menu (or even just something you're curious about), you'd be remiss not to try it; they'll have almost certainly changed the menu before you go back. Beer aside (because of course you go for the beer, right??), this is an awesome neighborhood bar and really just a Milwaukee staple. If you're looking for a cozy, quirky, dimly lit spot to enjoy your next drink, this is a must. Bonus: great place to bring out of town visitors if you're looking for something slightly off the beaten path- they don't need to know it's a not-so-hidden gem.
google avatar

Teresa H.

Yelp
I was here a month ago and while I can't put my finger on why, I've been wanting to go back every night I find myself looking for a drink. The place is just... Cool. The bar is dark, with two distinct rooms, the main bar is filled with barstools and loud music, just beyond is a much more relaxed area, also dimly lit but less so, furnished with pool tables and a very chill vibe. Something about this place just calls to me
google avatar

Doug F.

Yelp
This is my local spot. I love it. What I don't like are the douche bags that read it's the "coolest" bar in milwaukee. It's only cool if you're into what the bar has to offer. I see all these assholes in there nowadays ordering white claws and trying to start fights. Frat boy fuck boys. Aside from that their taplist is probably the best in the city. Their bottle/can list is also top notch. Most bartenders are fantastic although there's one or two that are slow but hey, it's still a good time and worth it. If you're a good human and appreciate good beer/cocktails, give it a go. If you're an asshole, go to water street.

Yelp
Great local place that I was taken to during my last visit to MKE. Love the diverse beer selection and the fact that even late on a Friday night when the place was hopping - the bartender let me taste a sample before purchasing it. The bar has a cool neighborhood hipster vibe without being pretenscious and I loved the fact that the patrons were my age (mid 30s). Everyone there was having a great time and I liked the fact that there were no televisions so people could actually talk. Past the bar is another room that has some cool board games that some of the patrons were enjoying. I agree with the other reviewer that said the bar area was a little dark (lit with red lights) and after imbibing for a couple of hours prior to our stop at Burnhearts - it made finding the bathroom a bit difficult. All in all a solid neighborhood bar that I would love to try on my next trip back to give it another try.
google avatar

Brian M.

Yelp
What a great dark, dank, divey, and deeply secluded Bay View bar! Admittedly, my hipster days are behind me, but I've always been welcomed here with open arms by both the staff and the patrons. There is always a great conversation to be had about Taco trucks, wood carving, 1980's era re-issued Marshall stacks, or some other equally interesting but obscure topic. Lot's of attention is paid to their cocktail game as well as to their craft beer selection. If you want it, they got it! I always appreciate the $2 cheap-o happy hour option. Yesterday it was Pabst, of course. There's a good selection of tables, booths, and tons of crazy crap on the wall. Also, if you favor your drinks al fresco, there is equally as much seating outside as inside! Burnhearts = Cool vibe Bay View bar!!

Yelp
This place is garbage. We were out for my 30TH birthday party with friends, family, and my 65-year-old dad. It was around 11 pm and the bartender refused us service for no reason and refused to give us a reason as to why when we asked. Other bartenders working were even asking him why we were getting kicked out and he refused to answer. Our group had literally walked through the door and didn't even get a chance to order a single item before we were told to leave. If you are going to b refused service shouldn't someone in the group at least get the chance to order something before they are refused. I think it had something to do with the fact we were dressed in themed party gear of Hawaiian attire but that is literally no reason to kick us out. Not all theme parties are messy and some people just like a good theme. If you are coming from a Hawaiian theme party or a Jimmy Buffet concert don't waste your time because apparently, they won't serve you here. I'm sure if we were a young 20 something bachelorette party we would not have gotten kicked out because I've seen the SAME bartender easily over serving them at 1 am, funny how that works. If you are a 20-year-old hot chick sleeping at the bar in a tight dress you get a shot put in your face where he tells you to drink up but if you are an older group in a Hawaiian shirt you get asked to leave as you're coming through the door. We gladly took our business elsewhere and got served for the remainder of the night where shockingly no one got kicked out and shockingly no one overdrank. People are giving this place 5 stars for their beer?really?...beer is a dime a dozen in Milwaukee and with so many new beer places opening up around the area I wouldn't suggest wasting your time coming here. A ton of places around Milwaukee have "rare" beer and beer lists are literally growing over night.
google avatar

Yelp
Yea, it's hipster - but it's still cool. I dig Burnhearts. The shuffle board in the back is way rad. Well except for this past weekend, it had barely any sand and was beat to hell on one end. But still, we made it work. They have other games and cards, too. Spades anyone???? They have funky music and some of the funnest beers around. I had something with Chardonnay barrel aged something or other and I only hope to have the nameless exquisite brew again.......... It's kind of in a residential area. We got that going on here in 'sconsin. You never know when a bar or restaurant will pop up in your face. A few blocks from Odd Duck and all that stuff so the walk is totally doable. Again, I just dig it.
google avatar

Beth P.

Yelp
Touted as one of the best beer bars in Milwaukee, it's sad that I took me over a year to make it to Burnhearts. Boasting 25ish on tap with a healthy mix of both local and national brews, I was glad to be able to try a few new ones. You can tell Burnhearts selects their taps carefully. They had a few breweries represented that I've rarely seen around town. Although I shy away from bottle lists, Burnhearts has some great choices. Again, their bottle/can list is curated very well with some unique beers. They even have a few aged bottles. Burnhearts is a great place to kick back and enjoy a beer with friends. However on weekends after 10 pm, it can get a little loud. That's when the proportion of people ordering PBR and Miller increases. ;)
google avatar

Kay C.

Yelp
How can you not like a bar that holds outdoor festivals like Mitten Fest in the Winter and PBR Fest in the summer including an outdoor bar named "Brandy Land" serving Old Fashioneds? Not to mention they also bring in some great local bands at these fests. But that's not the real reason to go to Burnhearts. I love this bar. Great casual, cozy atmosphere with a fantastic beer selection and knowledgeable bartenders. They are always happy to give you a little sample just to make sure you'll be happy. A great deal is the sampler, especially if you order before 8pm. Four 6-oz pours for $8. A great way to try a nice selection of different brews. Some of them can have a pretty high ABV, so this is a good way to stay in control...yeah, right. This is a fun place to bring out-of-towners as they'll get to see a good cross section of typical Milwaukeeans, which are mostly good, friendly folks. Many of the beers come from local Wisconsin brewers as well as our neighbors in Illinois and Michigan who are making some great craft beers as well. They also have a nice stock of specialty beers if you really want to get impressive. You'll also find a bunch of board games and a pool table in the back room. This is a great place to kick back, enjoy a local beer and/or an Old-Fashioned and a mean game of cribbage. Life is good.

Yelp
Burnhearts is a nice addition to the burgeoning hipster area, Bay View. Dark, loungey vibe, with a DJ pumping out music in the front bar; satisfying any 20-something that's Bored With the U.S.A. There's a great beer list, board games like Operation, pool, free sawdust shuffle board, and lots of different seating areas. Not a bad place off the beaten path, but just didn't seem as friendly as say, Blackbird. More people here on the weekend seemed to be trying to make the scene, rather than just there to have a good time. Not a bad place, but not my first or second choice in Bay View.
google avatar

Rachel F.

Yelp
Beer snob heaven. Killer atmosphere. Super-nice folks. Great music. Total upgrade.

Yelp
Our AirBnB host gave us two recommendations for drinks within walking distance of our place - Burnhearts and At Random, two places that could not possibly be more different. If At Random makes you want to don your Mad Men best, Burhearts makes you want to duck into the bushes and immediately change into skinny jeans. While At Random makes you feel retro cool and classy, Burnhearts makes you feel hispter and divey. I dig it. We arrived too late to enjoy the outdoor patio, instead settling into a table in the front room. The front is a narrow little space, it's dark with reddish lighting, 70's era hanging lights, and vintage beer trays and signs peppering the ceiling. The bar's clientele erred on the 20-something side. The back of the bar is a bit more open and home to shuffleboard and pool tables. The back is a better destination if there are more than 4-5 in your group. The bar has a great craft beer list. I don't recall what I ordered, we really just stopped in for one drink, but there were ample options. While I enjoyed the place, if you want to have a conversation, this isn't the place - them youngin's keep it loud. If At Random is where you go to drink in the experience over a few cocktails; Burnhearts is where you go to belly up to the bar and chill with your friends.
google avatar

Faith G.

Yelp
I can't believe after such a great experience, I still haven't been back. I'll be changing that soon though! I visited around 4 p.m. on a Thursday afternoon, so the place was fairly empty and easy to find a spot to sit. The bartender was super knowledgeable and offered suggestions when I asked about what stout to try. In fact, I ended up having the best beer of my LIFE while there and the only sad thing about it is I don't remember what kind it was. It was chocolately and sweet with a hint of coffee. The place has a super unique feel to it--lots of wood (in a chic way) and was very clean.
google avatar

Erin L.

Yelp
Fun and VERY hipster bar a bit off the main drag in Bayview. Came here to have a heart to heart with a friend. The atmosphere was real chill and the booze selection was wonderful. I got a buffalo trace on the rocks, which is rare I can find that whiskey. Overall I would come back again for sure. Maybe with a group so we could play some games together.
google avatar

Scott C.

Yelp
The perfect dive bar!!! Great cocktails and atmosphere will definitely be back! Bartender treats everyone like they are his favorite customer
google avatar

Evan O.

Yelp
Probably my favorite bayview drinking establishment. Being set in a residential area gives it that corner bar feel (it is on a corner) Vast beer selection, dim lights, friendly bar staff and the vinyl records will be spinning. It doubles as a great date spot along with a social hangout. Secluded booths in the back allow for one on one conversation and the front bar space is always social.
google avatar

Ben S.

Yelp
I love the ambience here, the knowledgable staff, the friendly co-drinkers, and just the effervescent cool of the place. Lively and comfortable at the same time; pool and shuffleboard are nice distractions if you want to mill about, but really, just enjoying your beverage with friends is the concentration here, and the front bar area is excellent for that. Katie Rose is a gem of a bartender; an expert mixologist, a treat to talk with. Try her Chartreuse & gin cocktail - she'll be happy to toast with you. The beer list is ample and varied. If you're in Bay View, definitely drop by and enjoy. Heck, even if you're not in Bay View, make the trip.
google avatar

Zachary F.

Yelp
I think I found a new favorite place to hide. Great service, knowledgeable bartenders, terrific selection! The ambience is unique and inviting especially on a cold evening. This isn't a neighborhood gem but a city treasure and I cannot wait to go back!
google avatar

vielesha d.

Yelp
Came here on a random Sunday to play pool. From their yelp profile I couldn't really tell how many pool tables they had but discovered there was only one. lol Wasn't a big deal but it's a kind of a small space in back we're it was located. This place has some pretty cool decor and lots of beer to choose from. Almost reminds me of some bars in Logan Square in Chicago. I can see myself coming back sometime. Oh and they pass out touch town shots during the game!

Bree V.

Yelp
The cocktails and service is just ok. I really want to be a repeat customer, but what's the point when the bartenders act like your service and presences is of bother.
google avatar

B R.

Yelp
Burnhearts is easily the best dive bar in Bay View if not all of Milwaukee. So comfortable. Great music. Great beer of every variety. Bar keeps know their stuff. Don't pass this one by.
google avatar

Charlie C.

Yelp
Had an amazing time at Burnhearts tonight. Been here before with Michelle and she was just as amazing and professional as Mic was tonight. Keep it to going Burnhearts. Your rotating beer list always keeps me coming back. Tonight I'm drinking a delicious Porter and last time was some cray pilsner. See you soon.
google avatar

Aaron M.

Yelp
YES, hipster, antiquey microbrews in Bayview! I liked the Bell's stout. It's a little small though... come on a slow night or with a small group.
google avatar

Brittany S.

Yelp
Love the vibe of this bar! Eclectic, cozy, and fun. Stop in a delicious craft cocktail, a game of pool, and be sure to check out the awesome mural on the back wall.
google avatar

Nivya R.

Yelp
Really surprised this place just has 4.5 stars! I have been here zillion times and never had a bad experience. How can you ever not have a good time in such a free spirited bar! The place oozes coziness, acceptance for your quirkiness, and is definitely the place where you have a couple of drinks with your friends and then start discussing about the finer aspects of life or even the purpose of life. Half way into the review, I have not even started about the extensive beer list and the whiskey menu. Truly a Bayview gem!
google avatar

Maggie I.

Yelp
Burnhearts is my fave, folks. More craft beer than you can shake a stick at, whatever that means. I love the super chill vibe here, and it makes me feel less pretentious about my IPA snobbery. I love the tables in the back. Good for date nights, business meetings, and quiet solo hangs. Maybe my favorite thing about Burnhearts is their street festivals/special events. Mittenfest is rad and the punk basement show thing lives up to its name. Endless heart emojis!

Yelp
We literally stumbled upon this bar as it is located in a neighborhood, but it was a fantastic accident. My double 7 and 7 only cost $7.50 and my friends Irish Mule was $8.50. Definitely affordable. The atmosphere was fun and young. We opted to sit outside and enjoy the nice weather while sipping cocktails and eaves dropping.

Yelp
Easily my favorite bar. Two dozen taps that change often. Two nitro taps. Great patio, and beyond excellent service.

Yelp
Was in the neighborhood and thought we would give it a try. It was a solid bar. Good drinks and decent beer list. Love the eclectic wall art. Wish it was quieter, but it's 9 PM on a Saturday night....what do you expect ? :). Definitely worth the trip here again.
