15 LA Starters That Are The Main Event - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Each one of Jilli’s shrimp toasts are 80% shrimp, which means they burst like a prawn-flavored water balloon in your mouth. That’s a telltale sign of a good shrimp toast, as is the temperature of these poppable squares. They arrive hot from the fryer with a spicy, creamy sauce that reminds us of the one that comes with a Chili’s awesome blossom. We mean that as a compliment." - brant cox, garrett snyder, sylvio martins, brant cox, brant cox, brant cox, brant cox, brant cox, garrett snyder, sylvio martins, garrett snyder, brant cox, brant cox, sylvio martins, garrett snyder, garrett snyder, sylvio martins, garrett snyder

Stopped in with a friend on a Monday morning so there was no problem with a wait or seating. We thought there were a good amount of options of both drinks and food. We decided on an Irish coffee and a flavored mimosa. Food came out not long after ordering and we really enjoyed it! There was good flavor and the eggs were done perfectly. Best that I can describe it was good classic breakfast cooking. We sat and talked for a good while, which tells me how cozy the atmosphere in the place is. I'll definitely go back here.

First time guests and had a fabulous experience! Kati was very friendly and a great server. We went early on a Saturday and had no trouble getting a seat. The biscuits and gravy with some of the best we've ever had. The gravy is very flavorful and delicious. The French toast was full of flavor and absolutely a treat to enjoy. The sausage links were surprisingly flavorful and well seasoned. We love supporting small, local businesses. Highly recommend giving them a try. You won't regret it.

Google
i went to the restaurant alone and sat at the bar the staff were busy yet very polite and curtious. I believe my servers name was dani she was sweet and patient especially when there was a rude man yelling at her about fries when she clearly told him they had fries. There was also a dark haired girl he was being not very kind to as well they handled it professionally while making sure he didnt make me uncomfortable. i loved this place and i will be back 💛 the southwest bowl with green chili was fresh and delicious as well.

Google
Cannot recommend the bienvenidos burrito enough. It was massive, fresh, delicious & did I mention massive?? Great kid menu, great atmosphere. Indoor or outdoor seating options. Very friendly staff. This place checks all the boxes!

Google
The food was good, there’s no doubt of that. I’m Celiac, so I ordered gluten free French toast flight and while it was really good, I also got really sick from it. I’m not sure if there was cross contamination, or what, all I know was that I was sick all day and night. That was the only place I ate at that day, the rest of my meals were at home. Having said that, if you don’t have have any allergies or sensitivities, this place would be great, however, for me this place goes on my “No-go” list, too risky for me to eat there.

Google
Went here for breakfast and its a little pricey for some of the portion sizes, not all of them but its really delicious. The atmosphere feels a little tight for my comfort but wasnt a bad place.

Christina McNeair

Google
very small intimate place but don't let that fool you, the food is amazing and the drinks are the same. highly recommend the churro toast as well as the poutine which is done Colorado style with green hatch Chile and hash brown shreds.

Lauren Kroll

Google
LOVED it here! The idea of the scrambled egg bowls, with hash browns and toppings is genius. I got the southwestern, they even had vegan chorizo to sub which was a surprise and delight. My husband got the huevos rancheros plus hash browns, which was a great call because they were perfect to soak up all the sauce. My mocha cold brew was also delicious and not too sweet!

Yelp
This place deserves to be recognized! The food is not only creative but it is delicious and the portions are so massive that you will certainly leave with leftovers to enjoy later! My favorite is the breakfast burrito, the house made green chili deserves to be put on everything and they should sell this by the bottle so we can take it home...it's that good! Pro tip, you can order the trio of French toast for a large table as a dessert OR a side of any of the flavors of French toast as an add on to your meal....I like the peaches & pecans one the best! The place is real cute, diner style but also features a nice patio for those beautiful Colorado days. On a weekend the service can be a little slow at times but only because they are busy and it is well worth the wait! Highly recommend this unique breakfast/lunch spot...everything on the menu is a hit!

Yelp
We arrived on a rainy day for our brunch date here at The Burnt Toast. It's smaller (66) inside than I expected but very nice atmosphere. The wait was about 30-40 minutes coming in at 10:30ish. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. We both had The Feast, $18 that came with french toast, eggs, bacon, sausage and hash browns. I would recommend for sure! Everything tasted great, except my boyfriend got an overcooked French toast. But that was the only negative. I recommend getting onto the waitlist prior to arrival since you know your timing,

Yelp
First off, food is delicious! Huge portions cooked very well and exactly as ordered. Add to that a warm, inviting ambiance, full bar for morning cocktails & mimosas, and a menu that would make any chef drool, and you've got a hit! And if that wasn't enough, the staff are top notch! Service is always with a smile and they treat you like family! Katie, Brandi and all the ladies are the absolute BEST! Even when it's busy, and it can get REALLY BUSY, you never lack for their attention when needed. Overall, it's one of (if not THE) best place for breakfast/brunch in the Springs! Do not skip it! You'll love it!

Yelp
Early morning breakfast at Burnt Toast after hiking. There was no wait and we're sat in the patio right away. Patio has great views of the mountains (and Home Depot) but was great. Food was good, good portions, and lots of options to chose from. Ample of parking in the private lot.

Yelp
The food at Burnt Toast was delicious. I got the Tuscan breakfast and my hubby got The Mess. The barrata cheese with balsamic was an interesting addition and it was absolutely spot on - delicious! My hubby said the Mess was delicious as well; however, he got it without curry. The only thing he added was hot sauce. We highly recommend both!!! The service was top notch as well. We are from a different generation that doesn't take pictures of our food so you'll have to trust us The portions are large as well. This was our first time eating there but certainly not our last. Looking forward to taking our family when they're in town next week.

Yelp
Do not skip on this place!! This review is overdue but very deserving. We came in with a big group from work and right away they worked to get a table set up for our party. The server answered all our questions and made helpful suggestions. We all ordered a few different dishes, everything sounded so delicious! When the dishes came out, we were thoroughly impressed by the generous servings and beautiful presentation. I ordered the smothered burger without cheese. It did come out with cheese but they fixed it right away. I was so hungry I didn't get a picture. But I did try everything that everyone else had and it was all so delicious! The quality of ingredients were superb. The server explained everything was made in house and ingredients were sourced locally when possible. It's very obvious they go out of their way to make sure each dish is of the highest quality. This is easily one of my favorite breakfast spots now and I'm not even a breakfast person! Go and enjoy!!

Yelp
I had a great experience at Burnt Toast yesterday. We went to the academy location. This location is a tad small so if you have a large party it may be best to go earlier in the morning as there is not much waiting space. The staff was friendly from the moment we walked in the door. We were a party of two and got seated very quickly. As a vegan it's hard to find breakfast places and my option is usually avocado toast ( I'm not mad about that). This avocado toast was better than many other places I've been in town. It was $14 and the toast was large and jam packed with delicious flavors. I loved that glaze on the plate to dip the toast in. There were carrots, zucchini, sprouts, arugula, and I think onions. The toppings were stacked high and the flavor was dimensional. I really enjoyed eating here and would go back!

Yelp
Nice little brunch place. Gets really busy but the service was really good and friendly. They wont sit your table until the whole party is there but they still had plenty of tables. You can't go wrong with a mimosa flight and some delicious French toast flight to go with it. Give it a try if you're in the area!

Yelp
The food was subpar at best and overpriced. The service was also subpar. I would never go back there. The ambience was not special. We ate outside, which is the parking lot entrance for Home Depot.

Jack R.

Yelp
Service was quite abysmal, and not very nice. Food was actually pretty good but really overpriced for the amount you receive

Yelp
The food was sooo good. My favorite was the Egg-egg rolls. We had the turkey apple melt. I personally would add more caramelized onion next time. Sweet potatoes perfect The Mess bowl was the perfect curry to the eggs potatoes and sausage. Yum!! My step son tried the Peanut Butter Bacon burger and was really impressed. The vibe is cool, staff are smiling and helpful. I would recommend!! I didn't get a pic of the egg rolls because we grabbed them quick and ate those down

Yelp
My husband and I went to Burnt Toast on N. Academy on a Saturday morning. They were pretty busy and it seemed like they were short staffed but the few ladies that they had there were really working hard to keep everyone happy. We both ordered the breakfast burrito. It was very delicious and the green chile was pretty good (not one of my favorites). My husband said the chorizo was nice and spicy. I had substituted bacon. The presentation was beautiful. The only reason I gave it a lower rating was because the breakfast burrito is $20. I normally order a burrito for breakfast at all of my favorite places in town and they vary in price from $11 up to $15. This was the highest priced burrito I have seen. With tip, one iced tea and water our bill was $57 which was a bit over the top. So, yes, it was a delicious meal but definitely not worth the price we paid.

Yelp
Went to eat with my husband to burnt Toast, I ordered Huevos Rancheros. I have to tell it's the best one I had yet. It's a must to go and have breakfast etc. my husband had Bienvenidos which he said it's very tasty and filling. We will be back again cone one cone all. You'll love it. Great coffee too.

Yelp
Burnt Toast is going to have to step up their game to survive. Within a half mile there is Snooze, First Watch, IHOP and Mimi's. Service was fine. Not too laid back but also didn't give us the "hurry up" vibes. The breakfast items (a "scram-bowl" and French toast) were rather underwhelming. But for the price tag I was expecting more. More food and just better. Not likely rushing back.

Yelp
The food was very good, the ambience was good as well. Portions were ok-I had the shrimp and grits. I had the Long Island coffee and it was very tasty!

Chris Y.

Yelp
The service was great and the ambience was fine and I really liked the food. I had good French toast and eggs. I will eat there again!

Ashleigh O.

Yelp
Food was delicious. Portions were generous. Service was good. Not bad but not great. Prices were a bit high for our norm. So likely only a special occasion brunch type place for us. Ambiance: tiny and LOUD. We could barely hear each other and had to speak loudly the whole meal. Not great for a relaxing brunch out. We'd go back but maybe when we could sit on the patio.

Yelp
We had a fabulous breakfast! About a 15 minute wait for two of us on a Sunday which isn't bad at all. Our waitress was super friendly. The coffee was awesome, I just wish they had an espresso machine for lattes and such. The breakfast egg rolls (sounds wild, I know) were SO GOOD. Their green chili is delicious. My French toast, eggs, and sausage links (seemed like the links were from scratch possibly) were perfect. We'll definitely be back.

Vincent C.

Yelp
Our server was great! The food was delicious and a good sized portion! On a Friday around 10am we were seated for two very quickly! We ordered two meals, one slice of avocado toast, and two coffees for a painful price of $60!!! That did not include the tip and just way too much for a breakfast outting! Very sad that it will cause us not to dine there again.

Patty H.

Yelp
We ate on their nice outside patio...service was excellent & friendly (Kate)!!! My friend & I both had the breakfast street tacos...SO delicious!! The ambience inside is kind of a fun diner/retro theme. They had lots of yummy, out of the ordinary breakfast options, so looking forward to dining there again soon!!

Yelp
We had "The Mess" and the "southwestern" and they were so good!!! The service was also amazing. Glad to have such a good breakfast place close by! We'll be back for sure

Yelp
I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere at Burnt Toast. I went with a girlfriend to eat and catch up. The food was delicious and the service was great! Our waitress was super nice and attentive. Sitting on the patio was wonderful as we enjoyed the fresh air. I would definitely recommend this place as a breakfast or lunch spot.

Jamie B.

Yelp
Food was delicious! We are from Houston and the huevos rancheros was probably the best we've ever had!

Suesan W.

Yelp
20 stars!!! This place is amazing. Their cantaloupe mimosa is super delicious. I'm a green chili snob and theirs is super delicious. I feel bad because I leave a lot of bad reviews at places I severely do not like. I LOVE this place.

Kaylinda R.

Yelp
Came in with my toddler, the service was great, waitress and staff were very friendly and kind. Service was fast even though it was moderately busy. Ambiance was chill. I ordered a simple breakfast, over medium eggs (no one ever gets this right, always over easy) they were cooked exactly how I like them. Hash browns were very good and sourdough toast good. The only things and why I give 4 stars is our bacon was way too hard to bite, it tasted ok and u love crispy bacon but maybe this was overcooked in a big batch then served rather then fresh. The caramel cold brew was very good. I'd like to come back and try there other items but it is a bit pricey. Overall good experience

Hunter R.

Yelp
The food here was incredible! Such a cozy little brunch spot and the service was amazing! Def worth stopping in!
