The 13 Best Cookies In London - London - The Infatuation

"Snapping one of Bake Street’s crème brûlée cookies in half is just as satisfying as eating it. The burnished exterior mimics its crème brûlée namesake, making for a pleasing ASMR crack and super sugary bite. Inside, it's creamy and gooey. The perfect post-burger dessert at this Hackney brunch spot. Just arrive early before they sell out." - rianne shlebak, sinead cranna, heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, daisy meager

After teaching my yoga class, I wandered into Burnt Amber in Hackney Wick for a late brunch, and it turned out to be such a lovely surprise. I had their avocado toast with poached eggs and a matcha latte with coconut milk. Everything was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. The owner was incredibly kind and welcoming. The atmosphere was peaceful, light-filled, and relaxed, just what I needed after class. What I also really appreciated was how laptop-friendly the space is. There are plugs available, and the vibe is quiet enough to take a call or get some work done without feeling rushed. If you’re in Hackney Wick, whether you’re coming from a yoga class or just looking for a nourishing brunch or a calm space to work, I highly recommend checking this place out. It’s a little gem that deserves some love. Thank you, Burnt Amber. I’ll be back soon.

I booked a table for Sunday lunch, for our son’s birthday, ten days in advance. When we arrived, we asked to move, as it was outside the toilet. We were then put outside on the garden. We had a drink before our meal and the lager was warm with no fizz. We took it back and the staff changed it, as they hadn’t noticed there was something wrong with the tap. The roast was lamb shanks, which is an unusual roast option, as they need such long, slow cooking. They had not been cooked long enough and were tough and tasteless. The drinks were £6 on the menu, but we were charged £7 when the bill came. We were told that the stated price was for bottled lager, but we had draft. We were charged 12.5% service charge. In total, we paid over £187 for five unpleasant meals, four alcoholic drinks and a coke. We didn’t complain, as there was nothing else on the menu we wanted. We then went to the pub across the road, where we could have got a delicious roast for £10 less each and very nice drinks. The staff were very nice, but we will not be returning to BU and wouldn’t recommend it.

We had the most wonderful evening here. The atmosphere was absolutely superb and we also had the pleasure of meeting the owners! The food was delicious, and I cannot wait to come back! This is our new favourite restaurant for a nice evening out with friends, and I cannot wait to take the family out here next time.
