I booked a table for Sunday lunch, for our son’s birthday, ten days in advance. When we arrived, we asked to move, as it was outside the toilet. We were then put outside on the garden.
We had a drink before our meal and the lager was warm with no fizz. We took it back and the staff changed it, as they hadn’t noticed there was something wrong with the tap.
The roast was lamb shanks, which is an unusual roast option, as they need such long, slow cooking. They had not been cooked long enough and were tough and tasteless.
The drinks were £6 on the menu, but we were charged £7 when the bill came. We were told that the stated price was for bottled lager, but we had draft. We were charged 12.5% service charge.
In total, we paid over £187 for five unpleasant meals, four alcoholic drinks and a coke. We didn’t complain, as there was nothing else on the menu we wanted.
We then went to the pub across the road, where we could have got a delicious roast for £10 less each and very nice drinks.
The staff were very nice, but we will not be returning to BU and wouldn’t recommend it.
