"The University of Texas at Austin students and employees can head to the Dobie Mall for great Mexican fare served by three brothers for breakfast (migas, ham, egg and cheese burrito) or lunch and dinner when the burritos are served with a choice of meat, beans, lettuce, tomato, avocado, cilantro, and cheese. It’s the sibling spot of South First taco truck El Primo, so you know it’s good. Takeout orders can be placed online, there are indoor dine-in areas." - Darcie Duttweiler

You'll recognize the owner first, he's the ecstatic guy behind the counter 😄. He stands out because you'd first think, 'man, it'd be hard for him to replace himself.' His service is great, you can tell he knows what he's doing, and he loves what he is doing. It's clearly obvious. Food is a SOLID 4*. It's good, the prices are good, and I enjoyed every bit of it. 👍 👌 😋

Google
Big burritos for good price. I liked that they have cilantro tortillas. Location is great too, west UT campus. The was no long wait. Very nice guy made me burrito in 1-3 minutes. That was fast. I paid $10 for burrito and couple of $$ as a tip Took the burrito at home It was in decent condition What I didn’t like - “chicken fajitas”. As a taste it was boiled chicken breast slightly fried with peppers before serving. I’ll orders something else different time Thank you

Google
Great family run business with amazing food. The service is great and the crew is very high energy. I love this place and always visit it when I go back to Austin.

Google
I have a ton of Good things to say about these guys. This restaurant got me through College for 7+ years. I wish them well, and that they One Day Open Up a 2nd Location at a more visible place to get the business they deserve.

Google
I was at UT for 5 years and this was my favorite place to eat. I would go there so much the owner would know my order as soon as he saw me. We had great conversations and the food tasted like home. He’s from Michoacán so he knows what he’s doing and loves it. Please support any chance you get. My order was always a plate of enchiladas with the mild sauce and a agua fresca de horchata. The only place that’ll let you put some meat in your enchiladas if you’d like. They have veggie options of course and it’s the best authentic Mexican food on campus.

Drew Postell

Google
The food here is reasonable but they make everything to order. Which means you could be standing in line for 8-10 minutes just to order. Then you'll need to wait longer for them to prepare it. I guess if you have plenty of time then its worth it but there are plenty of other food places close by with comparable food options that will get you on your way much faster.

Anayeli

Google
This is a MUST go place if you are a student at UT. The staff are really nice and always remember your order. Their menu has vegetarian friendly options, and the food is amazing! They also have aguas frescas, and their horchata is the bomb. They have a super spicy red salsa, so unless you can handle it don't ask for it or you will ruin your food :).

Ryan Sagare

Google
El hombre, the man, that makes the tacos 🌮 is hilarious 😂 . After making me laugh my ass of I asked him his name. His answer: perfecto (perfect)! My response: hijo de la chingado. He answers back: that’s my last name. Soy perfecto hijo de la chingada. Well, Mr. Hijo de la Chingado, your tacos weren’t the best but were pretty good and at a great 👍🏻 price 💵! Never laughed so hard getting Mexican 🇲🇽 food 🥘!

Yelp
It's so nice to see how well-loved this place is by others. Jose, the owner, runs it, and he clear he has so much love for his guests. It's been open since 2004! I ordered the steak torta, it was delicious and filling. All of the ingredients were super fresh. And I also got the horchata to drink, it was tasty but definitely for sweet tooths! I was also so surprised by how affordable this menu was. Really great spot for students.

Rick K.

Yelp
Service was great. Hard working guy multitasking. The torta was also great. I got the #4 and was very pleased. Good bread and flavorful ingredients. The food hall is on the run down side so the landlord could stand to improve the eating space. But the burrito factory seemed clean and well managed.

Allison C.

Yelp
Great spot near campus for a quick bite to eat. The service was friendly and fast. My burrito and horchata were really delicious but the only point off is because the burrito fell apart on me and was super messy to eat as a result. I guess that's why they gave the fork but I would rather have less plastic waste whenever possible.

Cesar V.

Yelp
When I got in line I was greeted by Jose I was a regular in my first semester but stopped coming in the current semester. He remembered me and he remembered my order. He got right to work with my torta and made it very quickly. Got my food in less than 4 minutes and got to eat. Burrito factory is my favorite spot on campus to get Mexican food since it's close and priced well. The dining room is a food court and it's pretty clean.

Jacob B.

Yelp
Simply outstanding food. Burritos are so good and so filling. Very friendly folks and they remember what you like! You gotta check out this place.

Anisya N.

Yelp
I picked up food from this place so can't say much to their ambiance and service. It's located within Dobie so I would assume you receive an average experience of dining in a food court. I ordered their mini chicken burrito and loved it! The portion size was generous and all of the ingredients paired so well together. The chicken was juicy, flavorful and all out delicious. I normally feel the need to add sauces on top of burritos but didn't for this one. A great meal and I'll definitely come back for more.

Michael N.

Yelp
This place has a great balance of convenience (proximity to UT campus), good food, and reasonable prices. The service is super fast here, and the chef is always super friendly. It is tucked into the Target food court, but it definitely deserves more recognition for food, convenient meals near campus.

Sean M.

Yelp
Affordable, great customer service, delish food. My husband and I were in the area because we were going to see a concert at the bass concert hall. We got there a bit early and we realized we were a little hungry so we started looking around for food. We discovered the little food court where this restaurant is located, and after checking everything out, we decided to buy from them. Their prices are the best out of any other restaurant in the strip. We ended up getting two veggie tacos. I was honestly surprised how full my taco was for the price I paid for it. It was absolutely delicious! It was very filling. The guy cracked a couple of jokes while he was putting together our tacos, really friendly guy. Food tastes super authentic, very hole in the wall place, but I can definitely see myself returning again for delicious Mexican food at good prices!

Robert B.

Yelp
Excellent service and a great quick stop to quench the hunger. Since I am 32 characters I'll echo what I said. Excellent service and a great quick stop to quench the hunger.

Scott T.

Yelp
Delish pastor and steak taco plate. Steak fajita burrito got good review from the kid. Located inside student housing building above the target store. Took a bit to find it but worth it. The owner runs it and really puts his heart into the food and customer service. Lots of regulars came by and he knew their orders as they walked up.

Miranda N.

Yelp
Burrito Factory is the best Mexican food option around UT campus. The food is always consistent and delicious and is very authentic. The workers are always so nice, especially the cook. He is so personable and completes the experience. He won't write anything down but he has never gotten my order wrong, it's pretty impressive. I highly recommend this place to both UT students who want some good food near campus, and anyone else in Austin who just wants good Mexican food in general.

Suriya S.

Yelp
Great customer service and great food! The portion sizes are huge and the food is cheap. My personal favorite is the veggie torta with everything on it and with spicy salsa. I also really like the horchata here!! Definitely one of my favorite spots to eat near campus as it's great food for a very reasonable proce and a short walk from campus (right above target)

Rod K.

Yelp
Great little hole in the wall above target. Got the sandwich which was damn good. Cook is a great guy. Want something quick without any fuss then this is for you.

Tiffany Y.

Yelp
I came here to grab a wet burrito after my workout. This place is hidden in the back of the food court and looks unassuming, but is so so delicious. I had looked at all the food pics before and the wet burritos here looked so good. I ordered the wet burrito with rice and beans, and he made it right in front of me, and asked me what toppings I liked. I wanted it spicy so I asked for extra jalapenos. It was also really nice to see all of the meat being cooked. The burrito took less than 10 minutes to make, and the red sauce was spicy and flavorful. I couldn't even finish half of it because it was so filling. I will be back to try their tortas and other dishes.

Nahiyan K.

Yelp
A hidden gem inside Dobie Mall, this place is my go to for burritos around campus. There are so many great places to choose from on the Drag, but this one offers the most authentic Mexican flavor and spice. Fresh ingredients leave you feeling healthy after lunch here, and Burrito Factory has been a go to down the street from McCombs for years. The awesome people here really care about their customers!!

Corey A.

Yelp
One of the best Mexican Spots downtown. If you haven't came here, you are definitely missing out!! The owner is always super kind, friendly and talkative with everyone that comes into his line. It is clear that kindness and positive energy is placed into all the food her serves. The food here is absolutely amazing I usually get the Chicken Fajita Taco Plate and have never had a bad experience. My tip is to come a bit early if you don't want to wait in line. This place needs more recognition because it definitely top tier!!

Tiffany H.

Yelp
My friends always hype up Burrito Factory, but honestly I wasn't expecting much from Dobie food. Luckily, I was pleasantly surprised! I got the steak burrito with a chipotle tortilla and it was so good- a great combination of textures and flavor. I came back to try their al pastor taco and it did not disappoint. Now... if they had an al pastor burrito... it'd be over. Customer service is also great! The guy making my food was funny and so nice.

Samuel C.

Yelp
Burrito Factory is the current gem of the Dobie Food Mall. That title used to belong to Vert's Kebabs. Vert's wisely got out of Dobie Mall. Samuel C's prediction is that some day Burrito Factory will do the same. The place is just too good. * * * Burrito Factory gets about four times the business of any other establishment in Dobie Food Court. When I was there, the Nepali and Middle Eastern place were getting no business at all. The bubble tea place was getting some action. Three out of the eight food stalls were empty, unrented or permanently closed. In contrast, there were long lines at Burrito Factory. This is proof there is justice in this world. * * * Burrito Factory sells burritos - so the name is not a total lie. But the house specialty is tortas. Really really really fine tortas. I had one with steak, chorizo and ham with spicy sauce, mexi-veggies, and lots of pico de gallo. The torta was absolutely sensational. Looking around Dobie, lots of the customers were thinking the way I was. There were tortas at a large majority of tables. * * * Dobie Mall in contrast, is going to the bow-wows. They did a wonderful decorating job on the outside, with some classy renaming and a classy arty paint job. They puts walls of very realistic plastic flowers around the main entrance making the door on the campus side really really something to see. But the investment in outside trimmings belies complete neglect and deferred maintenance on the inside. Half of the TV's in the food court don't work. The flushes in the men's room are weak or dysfunctional. One urinal was leaking water (clean water) all over the floor. Tiles were missing on the wall. The Dobie Mall Food Court was always airless and claustrophobic. Over time, none of this has changed. The place is convenient as a utility for the students who live in the skyscraper above. And if you are on the UT main campus, the Dobie mall is a little nearer your next class than is the Drag itself. But otherwise, the place is somewhat repellent. You would never never take an out of town visitor there. * * * So this is why I am guessing that the Burrito Factory will not stay at the Dobie long. The only tenant who has actually stayed in the Food Court for more than ten years is Oma's, the Korean food stall. And frankly, I have no idea how Oma's stays in business. But the Burrito Factory's tortas are an absolute 100% pleasure. Given the weak quality of the food trucks and the other food institutions on the Drag, You can make a good case for closing your eyes and enjoying a fantastic torta in an ugly place. Or if you think about it long enough, maybe you can't.

Nicholas W.

Yelp
Came for dinner on a Thursday night around 6pm, barely a line. The guy behind the counter was really nice and funny -- I asked for no hot sauce and he pretended to be confused, so I made an "X" with my arms. So he was like, "ah ok, 10 spicy!". Needless to say I didn't have hot sauce in my torta. My pastor torta was a good size and had plenty of meat and veggies, which I appreciate. It's not cheap, but it's a solid option at a standard price point.

Nasiah R.

Yelp
Burrito Factory serves fresh food made to order. I ordered a chicken torta. My sandwich was good but wasn't particularly flavorful. Also, my sandwich was relatively small for the price. I was disappointed that my food wasn't filling so I didn't leave satisfied. On the positive side, the staff is incredibly friendly and outgoing. Burrito Factory is conveniently located in Dobie Market which is right next to the UT campus.

John C.

Yelp
Great food great people. Honestly I wish people would learn what customer service is exposed to be from these people! A+

Elaina H.

Yelp
I LOVEEEE this place! The owner has the best energy and is so friendly! Also the burritos are amazing! And big! Definitely come support this awesome family owned place next time you want a burrito.

Taylor Z.

Yelp
Time and time again, this is hands down the best Mexican place to grab food around campus. If you're even thinking of going anywhere else on campus in this area, don't. This is the place to grab food. These two brothers are work animals. Moving super quick while they blast music to get food out to hungry customers. Shoutout to these two for doing everything that takes an entire Chipotle line of employees to do (they are the bomb). My favorite is still the suizo burrito. Its definitely a lot more filling and their tortas are the bomb (which is typically what most people order). My favorite meat is the pastor (super sweet and meaty goodness all over your burrito/torta). If the line is long, trust me its worth the wait!

Michael L.

Yelp
Good place near campus! I have eaten the tortas, tacos and burritos. The meat (chicken, barbacoa, and the pastor) are all solid. It's very tasty, and not much you can say about it. As for the ordering experience, you'll be treated to a very excited cook who likes to play jokes on you and makes your ordering experience fun and not monotonous (but still gets your order right!)

Gillian D.

Yelp
The owner works very hard to prepare each meal. He's quick and has great energy. Everyone is so kind, and the food is sooo good. Highly recommend the enchilada plate. The spicy sauce is SPICY. I always leave with a smile. 10/10 place.

Diana G.

Yelp
Super delicious- authentic Mexican food- had the quesadilla gringa with al pastor meat, al pastor tacos & the burrito with asada. All good-

Amy Z.

Yelp
Burrito Factory is one of my go-tos when I'm craving comfort foods! I usually get the steak burrito here and ask for the majority of the toppings. The burritos are generously portioned and will leave you in a huge food coma after. It's definitely a heavier option compared to Chipotle, but their burritos are so good! The meat is always well-seasoned and I believe guac does not cost extra - which is always a pro. The workers are always cheery and great conversationalists. I'd definitely recommend this place for convenient and delicious Mexican food!

Anissa L.

Yelp
The best authentic Mexican food in Austin! The owner is also so funny and has awesome customer service!!

Audrey L.

Yelp
Owner was super friendly and fun! Burritos, I feel, are a bit overpriced but they were pretty hefty nonetheless. Order total ended up being about 11.50 plus tips for one burrito. It was good and lasted me a meal and 1/2 :)

Nat T.

Yelp
No complaints. Quality burrito served up in a friendly atmosphere. Plenty of options in terms of types and ingredients. I'm kinda feeling sorry for the other vendors at this food court. Why? The factory seems to get as much business as everyone else in the food court combined.

Sarah L.

Yelp
WOW. Try burrito factory and all other taco/Mexican places you know will go down a spot. This place is within Dobie, and so I didn't really have any huge expectations on how good it can get. Because of the food court, there are a lot of seating available and so wait time is never a problem We ordered our food quickly, and the staff was not only nice but super friendly and would joke around with us. We ordered tortas and a burrito and the food came quickly. This was my first time having a torta, and based on the price ($5), I thought that it wouldn't be filling. At the end of the meal, I was so full. The torta is a kind of sandwich, filled with the meat of your choice. The bread was toasted, while the pork, cheese, and lettuce was soft. The tomatoes and lettuce kept everything from getting too heavy and was a good balance. I also ordered the mango drink.... and I would pass it. It was a little too watered down and tasted more like papayas than mango. Would definitely come again!

Asita J.

Yelp
Very tasty food and great service, the Torta sandwich was amazing. Convenient location.

James H.

Yelp
My god. This is the best place to get some authentic Mexican food near campus. I've been a loyal customer for three years now, and they know my order as soon as I step up to the counter: Al Pastor burrito plate on a spinach tortilla with everything on it and super spicy with a Horchata to wash it down. With the burrito, you can get a flour, wheat, chipotle, or spinach tortilla. It comes with Spanish rice, refried beans, your choice of protein, lettuce, tomato, pico de gallo, sour cream, chihuahua cheese, avocado, and spicy or mild salsa. Be warned, the spicy salsa will kick your butt although it's delicious. The plate comes with a side of rice and beans, which are some of the best I've had in Austin. It's a lot of carbs, so I tend to save the rice and beans for another meal. The tortas are also a solid choice if you want to switch it up. The Al Pastor is seasoned beautifully and the steak is also a good choice. The owners are extremely friendly and memorize your order if you come here often. Last semester, I came at least once a week, but I stopped this semester because of the increased workload of school. After a 4 month break from Burrito Factory, I stepped up to the counter and they greeted me like an old friend and remembered what I liked. That's the definition of customer service.

Craig J.

Yelp
Six stars? When I took my daughter for a campus tour, I found this spot on Yelp. I was a bit worried it may be another Chipotle, but I was happily surprised when we strolled up. This ain't your trendy, gringo joint. The guys behind the counter, and the customers sandwiched around us were definitely authentic and knew their stuff. I got torta al pastor and the guy making it was impressed that I was taking it like a true Mexican. Pile on the heat and get out of my way. My daughter got a chicken burrito and loved it. We will be back! Great spot!!

Sara G.

Yelp
Burrito Factory is an unassuming food court taco shop but man is it great. I've been coming here for years and the quality and service have stayed awesome all this time. It's also one of the few places you can get tortas in the area. You can choose between tortas, burritos, tacos, or tostadas, then you walk through the line subway-style picking out what you'd like. The line goes quickly though because if you come back even two times, the friendly staff will remember your preferences. Are you as never-cilantro person? They will remember and keep the green away from you. As you can see from my photo, I am definitely a cilantro person. This is a tostada, $4 total, with refried beans, lettuce, sour cream, avocado, pico, extra tomatoes, cilantro, and hot salsa. The hot salsa is legitimately hot, so don't get it if you are just messing around!

Celeny B.

Yelp
Yuuuum! You get so much food for the price! Always fresh, always hot off the iron, and always tasty! I get the burritos and mini burritos when I visit. The red sauce is spicy. (I always order the red sauce.) The green sauce is not spicy. There's also horchata, mango, and other aguas frescas. It's a nice atmosphere and the staff is QUICK! There may be a short line when compared to other shops in the mall, but it goes by quickly.

Vivian T.

Yelp
THEIR TORTAS!!! So bomb!! I always order the torta al pastor & it's delicious. The meat is seasoned & cooked perfectly, the bread toasted to perfection, & it comes loaded with all the usual toppings: lettuce, tomato, pico de gallo, cheese, mayo, avocado, & your choice of mild or spicy salsa. All this for less than $7! The chef is also super friendly & helpful as well; I've never seen him without a smile on his face! Would recommend!!

Sharon F.

Yelp
A hidden gem inside Dobie. This place does not deserve to be judged by the reputation dobie food court holds. College student don't realize that there's a great Tex-mex place basically right on campus! I love this place because they're so fast, even when lines are long. Their portions are decent; I was stuffed after my meal. I recommend the Pastor, which is a mix of pork and beef. The suizo option is when they pour a sauce over the burrito, which I liked, but I prefer the burrito without the soggy tortilla. Their rice and beans will make you happy :) PS- They have their own little private seating area, so you don't have to sit out in the middle of the food court.

Nicole J.

Yelp
This place is too good to be hidden away on campus. It's worth the journey if you aren't already here! Their tacos and burritos are fantastic. The meats have great flavor and their salsas are delicious. I will definitely be back soon.

Shahzur J.

Yelp
Do you smothered burrito here honestly makes this place is amazing they have a build your own option and a lot of freshly cut vegetables like pico de gallo and some other toppings that you can add I really enjoyed the customer service at the location. It is located inside Dobie Food Plaza and I recommend taking the stairs or escalator is to enjoy the street.

Nick B.

Yelp
Great spot at UT before the game. We both had different burritos and they were both delicious. The guy working here was over the top enthusiastic.

Wendi L.

Yelp
Can't believe it took me this long but this is a WC hidden gem that everyone should try!! I can't claim to know much about authenticity but this place does food right. Get whatever you like and I'm sure it'll be amazing, but I personally always go for the pastor torta with everything, both salsas, and queso chihuahua. We were frequent visitors freshman year and haven't been able to come back nearly as often since but the brothers still remember our orders after 4 years. Makes us sound biased but their food is just as great as the owners, I promise. The mango juice is also amazing. Lowkey took this place for granted for a while but, after a week of mostly bland food in Cancun (usually tourist trap parts and random unknown spots, but still) I actually ended up craving the taste, spice and flavor here. I love you burrito factory

Raashi S.

Yelp
Convenient location, great food, and love the people that work here! It's placed on the edge of campus but for me it's right on my way back from classes. The Dobie food court has a lot of great options but this is by far my favorite one there. The cook is friendly and hilarious. He always cooks the meat fresh unlike at chipotle where it's been sitting under a heat lamp for a hot minute. All the vegetables also taste very fresh. Everyone that works here is very kind and welcoming. Overall I recommend this place for UT students or anyone on the UT campus during lunch time.

Rebecca A.

Yelp
Oh my goodness - what a pleasant surprise. The food was absolutely delicious - my husband and I want to rewind to ten minutes ago so we can eat our burritos again...they were that good! What I really love and appreciate is they have all the sides so you can really personalize everything. Chopped tomatoes or mild pico spicy pico...you can really tailor the burrito or taco to your taste. They also cook up the meat for you on the griddle right as you order so everything is fresh. The ambiance is mall...but they have their own separate eating area to the side that cuts down on cavernous "mall" food course bad ambiance. And $'s were quite good (family of 4 ate for $37 with drinks and everyone ordering something). We came with lower expectations and were so happily surprised. We will totally come back again if in the area and would recommend it to others!

Alexandra T.

Yelp
Hands down the best place I've gotten food at since I started college. Burrito Factory is a staple spot for campus students, but do not let that discourage you if you aren't one. They have amazing burritos, tortas, and tacos. Their pastor goes good on everything. The staff is amazing!!! So energetic and always generous. They even remember who you are and remember your order every time you walk up to the counter. I recommend the pastor burrito on the spinach tortilla.

Jess M.

Yelp
Best Torta Cubana I've ever eaten!!! You won't be disappointed, I love this place!! The people are so nice and friendly!

Kimberly M.

Yelp
Hands down, best Mexican food around UT campus! Their food is amazing as are the people that serve it! I've had their tortas, tostadas and tacos and it is all delicious. I usually get rice and beans as a side and their mango agua fresca! Definitely recommend!!

Avery S.

Yelp
Everything I get from this place is A M A Z I N G !!! The owner is so sweet and has the best customer service I have ever seen. The food is phenomenal and reasonably priced for the portion size and being so close to campus. 10/10 recommend.

Vinh N.

Yelp
Amazing sleeper restaurant on the edge of campus. Located in The Dobie Mall, this place gets nearly zero recognition from the outside world due to its lack of branding and advertisement. However, when finally found, a gold mine is discovered. I have tried both the torta and the burrito; both are an amazing choice with a balanced savoury flavour and a generous helping of avocado. I absolutely love the Al Pastor here. The price is ultra-competitive with other food places, can easily fill myself up for under $10. There is a single worker commanding all the food prep in the front, so wait times can sometime get long. However, it's well worth it. He's so friendly and always greets you with a "my friend".

Nicholas F.

Yelp
The guys that work here are amazing, and the food tastes great from burritos to tortas
